I know I like never talked about this franchise let alone this show on this account before but, I’ve been watching A New Wish recently. Enjoying myself a lot btw it’s different from the original but, still fun.

Tho I wanted to point out something cus as you guys know I do love overthinking my goofy comedic cartoons hehe.

Ok so for anyone who has been watching through this show like I have you probably already have caught on to Dev and his daddy issues. It was very clear as soon as we got introduced (or I guess reintroduction cus Dale was in the og show technically? whatever it’s not that important) to his dad as the very first scene we get with the man is him dragging his 10 y/o son on business stuff. On a Saturday. Then low key shaming him for understandably wanting to not be there. After that he then proceeds to be a lying scum bag to get money from people who mean well.

This entire episode just Dale Dimmadome showing how money grubbing he is. Hence really painting a good picture of the person he is and kind of showing the type of guy Dev is being raised by.

Hell we even get this specific line towards the end of this same episode. For context this episode about a living trash bin Hazel accidentally wished up being used by Dale for a pro over consuming message. Now after Stanky the Trash Bin is convinced by Hazel to get rid of trash they run off. With Dale running out from his front door, with Dev right next to him btw, then I quote saying:

“Stanky don’t leave! Oh you’re like a son to me.” With Dev sighing loudly.

Like wow man he’s right there.

Not to mention this part in “Peace of Pizza”. Where Hazel tries to convince Dev with a fake version of Dale. It’s just Cosmo but, it’s so obvious from this dialogue and even the background music that he thought that was his dad and that Dale seemingly doesn’t spend much time with this kid.

These are like two examples that were highlighting this. Dale Dimmadome is kind of a fuck ass dad from what is shown. So I do wonder when watching through “A New DEVelopment” and getting to this point then noticing how quiet he is as soon as the principal comes in to scold them.

Now like I said earlier I’m probably just overthinking this or something but, noticed before she came into the scene Dev was talking with the teacher perfectly fine. Then she starts yelling at them and it’s Hazel that takes lead to explain what they were doing. Which was weird to me cus Dev up until this point came off as I guess a principle’s pet of sorts. We saw it in “28 Puddings Later” and kind of “Prime Meridian Love”. While every interaction she’s had with Hazel however it is the same with any other kid.

Idk so um random thought does like Dev get really quiet when he’s shouted at or something cus his fuck ass dad has a habit of yelling at him when he messes up? Idk just what I was thinking ever since I saw this specific episode.

Even when I liked the show I thought Hunter from Owl House was a little overrated ngl

I would roll my eyes actually the fact that everyone gravitated to the trauma porn white boy character and not the other characters but, considering the show it’s not like they had any good options lol

do you ever see a character that’s worshipped by a fandom and go “you’re not that great”

Peak character design btw I actually love her so much.

Also finally a genuinely amazing Millie and Blitzo episode.

So glad she got something I’ve been waiting for this kind of thing for what feels like ages. Millie desperately needed this episode. I love that they didn’t make her all traumatized or upset. She has some depth yet still staying to the core of her character. Pls show more of this.

I thought about this today and need y’all to hear me out they so similar it’s driving me actually crazy.

Explanation under cut:

Edit: ok adding to this

1) They are sticklers for the rules. Likely a result of their fear of failure.

2) Not super related but, in the original show baby Peri is voiced by Tara Strong who also well known to have voiced Twilight Sparkle

3) Their “babies” are kind of sassy and mostly normal little kids. Tho Dev is definitely less mentally well compared to Spike while Spike is more lost in a society that low key kind of discriminatory towards him.

4) They both have an argument with their I guess we can call them sons (???) about their kid finally wanting nothing to do with them and the argument ends with them splitting up so the episode plot can happen. Then the same episodes both end with Twilight/Peri, who were apparently stalking them the whole time, coming in to stop the boys from committing murder.

So, my spouse has been exploring his gender lately; he also just built himself a new laptop. Today he told me that he in an attempt to process some genderfeels through metaphor, he made a post on a trans forum along the lines of: "I'm a lifelong Windows user and I think I'm pretty good at it. I want to find out what Linux has to offer but I'm afraid I wouldn't be any good at it. And how do you choose the right Linux distro, anyway? Do you have to try them all?"

The responses, he said, were a mix of useful advice about feeling out your gender and useful advice about choosing a Linux distro.

No cus as a kid looking for Tobias Wilson stuff was the worst cus the writer either wrote him dying in an uncomfortable violent way or wrote Tobias as this uncharacteristically weird ass pervert he just never was like in the actual show. You know usually to add Penball drama. I literally just gave up after a while cus I legit rarely if ever found a fic that didn’t treat Tobias so horribly I legit hated it.

It’s still everywhere ppl were nasty to this kid.

• Another idea I had is after the murder they end up on the run as now Dev is technically an orphan. Not sure if I’ll go that direction tho.

• Peri knows about Hazel through Dev in the beginning of them meeting but, doesn’t know about how his parents are her fairies. He finds out in the second half.

• I might do something with Daisy Do later but, I wouldn’t get your hopes up. Idek if I’ll really do much with this au I’m easily distracted 😅

• Mostly Peri focused (ik rare for me) but, a decent amount of Dev focus cus he’s pretty important to Peri’s character just like Peri is important to Dev’s character.

•Btw yes in this AU Irep is like really nice if also mischievous. Bro loves pulling harmless pranks. Tho idk if he’ll do anything in this au.

So you guys remember that part where Husk was going through the main cast and saying a bunch of stuff he caught about them in Masquerade right? It was to prove the point ppl will usually admit shit to him as he’s a bartender and ppl tend to dump things to bartenders. Well while going through that scene I noticed this specific part:

Well you see I actually have a little I guess let’s say theory about this bit. Basically I think Husk wrong on why Pentious watches them while they sleep. Ok well it’s more so I think he is half right. Cus he only got half of it. Yes Pentious does this cus he’s lonely, however I also think he does this out of fear. Fear of losing them.

This is the first time Pentious has had real genuine friends. Keep in mind before the hotel he was pretty much on his own. He never was established to have any like friends like Angel who had Cherri or Husk and Niffty who had each other. Even Alastor has been established to have other friendly relationships outside of hotel.

Pentious is incredibly loyal to ppl who's earned his trust. So Penti is more clingy and has a protective streak. This is now coupled with the general paranoia he seemed have developed. He must worry a lot about the what ifs at night so sneaks into there rooms just to reassure himself that they're ok. It’s sort of like that Pearl from Steven Universe kind of thing. Actually Pearl was my first thought when I heard that.

Grace Chasity character of all time. She's a religious zealot for both God and what is essentially the Devil. She steals a gun off of a cop and then makes her getaway on her pink bicycle (with a basket!). She brought supplies to hide a body to a simple prank. She commits quite possibly the worst Freudian slips of all time. She drinks hot water. She equates someone carrying her books for her to premarital sex. Someone dies in a freak accident and her immediate course of action is to hack up the body and bury it under the floorboards. She's canonically homophobic.

Me who’s still enjoying The Amazing World of Gumball since it aired all the way till now.

Not to out myself as someone that’s been on tumblr for too long, but I’m so sad to see this new trend of people saying “I like this thing, even though the show isn’t airing anymore.” Like? That’s how things work! Keep enjoying them! Art doesn’t just vanish when it’s not airing, and it wasn’t made to be exclusively viewed live! 10+ years ago, the idea of saying “Ah, I’m still here in this fandom 2 years after the show was cancelled 😳” would have been BONKERS!

All these kids saying “It’s so sad the shows gone,” no it’s not!!! I saw your fanart yesterday! Last week you told me about my favorite character’s music playlist!!! I saw them running around in your AMV!

Probably gonna have more to say for Operation Birthday Takeback but, literally all I can think of to say is “well that fucking hurt”.

God he actually thought he just lost everything. And watching Peri notice this and try so hard to cheer him up to get told by his god kid “I wish you’d leave me alone” was like just extra kick in the chest just to make sure you are hurt. They did such a good job with this character I swear. It hurts yet makes so much sense. I didn’t expect the fucking FOP revival/squeal series of all things to hit me this hard yet here I am. God I don’t even know how it’ll be when they all have to return to school the next day after this.
