Fresh Blood by the Eels off their 2009 album Hombre Loco. i would say this is another "i think a vampire probably wrote this low, grooving track" but there are several howls featured. wikipedia says it is about a werewolf. this song sounds like it has a simple bassline and simple drums but it knows what it's about. it's probably secretly really complicated but i specced in knowing about fabric, not about music.

it makes me want to ice skate really fast and also sounds like watching broken highway lane dividers go by late at night. fascinating that the back half of the four-plus minute song is fully instrumental. definitely a song for when you are traveling, or perhaps proceeding. spotify

in 2015, the year i dropped out of college, the closest comic/weird nerd shit store was a forty minute drive from my house. i bought the first issue of the serialized anthology comics magazine The Island bc i liked the Moebius-esque cover by Brandon Graham, before i knew who either of those artists were or that i liked them. i think it was ten bucks, and having to show my drivers' license really sticks in my brain for some reason. the point i am slowly approaching is that the magazine only ran for fifteen issues, and i didn't buy any other copies bc ten bucks a month was too dear for me, but it was a tremendous incubator for artists i would end up loving. about half the time i stumble across a lovely self-contained book that knocks my socks off i find out it started life in The Island.

Simon Roy's Habitat asks: do you want to hear a story about a generation ship gone wrong? this is a guy who really knows how to draw mechs and all their fiddly bits and loves doing it, which is a really transferrable skill to lovingly detailing the crumbling brutalist neo-mesoamerican architecture. the Habsec cannibals and their bits and pieces of scavenged armor blend in so well, it's genuinely shocking when we see someone in full, kept up, incredibly colorful armor. gorgeous, gorgeous book. love a fucked up generation ship.

found while perusing the stacks of the library that was closest to a bunch of other admin errands i was running, bc i finally have a tx drivers license and can start collecting tx library cards

im also asking myself why the hell i'm watching yellowstone with my bestie and her husband. it has every trigger warning and a lot of them would make me decline the experience had i looked them up beforehand. however, the inevitablilty of each little tragedy feeding into the circular threshing maw that is the Dutton family is really clicking for me. like well! that mom sure did die in the most traumatizing way possible! and wow that really does go a long way toward explaining why the daughter is self-medicating to an alarming degree AND why no one else is doing anything about it bc they're all still mad at her for being very tangential to her mom's death!

the amount of Stuff that happens per episode is truly astonishing. one of my favorite parts of the ttrpg Beamsaber is the downtime between missions, bc you get to have some really bonkers interactions with people who don't usually interact. despite its huge cast, Yellowstone doesn't yet feel incoherent or like it's jumped the shark in its first season bc it's really successful at getting its huge cast to have unexpected interactions with each other. this sounds a little bit like praising it for knowing how to be good television, but this is a neowestern about a land grab that's also a familial dynasty drama that's really leaning into the familial dynasty part of it. it would be very easy for this to become incoherent or bad at switching between storylines, but so far it's really good at it. it's not beamsaber or black sails bc nothing will ever be beamsaber or black sails but it's really scratching that itch of many small rapidly shifting factions and rapidly shifting political goals bc each child is their own horrible little faction and they have a lot of time where they're trapped in cars or helicopters together getting around their ranch, which is simply too large.

we're trying to watch the yellowstone franchise in release order, and the yellowstone prequel with tim mcgraw came out between the first and second seasons. we will not be continuing this. this is a bog standard wagon train western. cripplingly boring after the brazen insanity of the first season. also i think it is in poor taste at best and irresponsible at worst to show a suicide on screen.

i said i don't know why i'm watching this but i do know why i'm watching yellowstone, and that's bc my bestie keeps seeing tiktoks about it. sometimes im influenced in real life

changed my sheets this week and didn't chortle at the TOP OR BOTTOM tag which is how i know im having. a brain time. another way you can tell im having a brain time are these screenshots of the Breath of the Wild map. as you may or may not remember from last week, last week i had very little of the map filled out.

now is this EXPLORED? good heavens no. i have under 40 shrines DISCOVERED. i have simply beelined to each tower and went VERY fast. or was very sneaky. the three towers i have not bothered to climb yet are the ones i would have to actually fight some guys about. fuck the akkala tower for real.

i love to accidentally get way too close to dragons and die. some fun things about this run: incredibly, exceptionally rainy. except for the stint in the literal desert and the five minutes in the snowfield it has been raining about 70% of the time, which has made climbing very annoying. another fun thing about this run: exceptionally low ancient shaft drop rate, which makes getting ancient arrows to safely kill guardians from afar very difficult. bc as discussed above i have optimized this little blond boy to be very fast and very sneaky to get up the towers very quickly in the two minute spans of time it is not raining.

another fun thing about this run: not very good at successfully spitting out riders next to horses. you can only see the tip of spinch's hat bc he is underground.

i have unlocked the elephant and the falcon, i haven't gotten much farther than finding painkillers for the goron boss and stalled out at the yiga clan stealth mission. bc despite liking being a sneaky fast sniper out in the world, i fucking hate an enforced stealth mission. i don't think i ever got past this part in my other run either.

not jacked enough to unlock the master sword, i think you need twelve hearts? i would rather have more stamina so i can get faster horses + the princess's horse.

after i unlocked a bunch of towers i spent a goofy amount of time in the Lake Floria system herself hunting for treasure chests (there are easily fifty chests in the water. wild) to get the 10k rupees to unlock the last great fairy. i also spent several real-life hours video game mining video game ore. this was deeply annoying bc i sold off all my gems to get 10k rupees and then had nothing to get those sweet sweet high level upgrades with. this was the point on sunday night where i realized i was getting irrationally annoyed with a game that is supposed to be fun, and is NOT meant to support the kind of grinding i was doing. that was enough video game for one day thank you.

did you know there's a korok in the shrine of resurrection? me either.

also did you know magnesis ACTIVATES on the windmills in Hebra but i can't figure out how to get close enough to any of them to do anything about it. annoying.

this has got to be so funny from ganons point of view. i unlocked the elephant and the falcon in under a week of in-game time and then spent several in-game months mining and collecting clothes. would that make ganon more or less anxious d'you think

cross stitch update. this confetti in the rover square. i am dying. here’s what it will look like finished, and a link to buy the pattern

i had such high hopes for pin stitches as a thread finishing method but i had to rip out a mistake near a pin stitch and accidentally ripped out the entire pin and single confetti cross stitch. so what the fuck. i am an insane woman who likes to fully submerge and lightly hand wash projects before they get framed to remove all the oils (yes i wash my hands before stitching, i do get paranoid) and i am not confident pin stitches will hold up to that. oh well. the loop method is pretty great in halving the number of ends i have to weave in, even though i feel like it is extremely wasteful and leaves me with lots of short useless lengths my cats would love to eat. so the gains from halving thread management are really not offset by the meticulous cat management i must embark upon every time i do my fun relaxing hobby.

and the back, which is a horror. and will only become more of a horror. but once this is framed no one will actually see it so it's FINE. i am FINE with this. i started this knowing there was going to be lots of confetti. that's the point of this masochistic pattern

i wrote the first chapter of this fic last summer and outlined the emotional beats (but not much else) while procrastinating moving and have finally lightly polished the first chapter and threw it on the archive. im trying to let things molder less and just fucking post them in the hopes this activates the writing part of my brain again but who could say what's going on up there. this is still something that hasn't quite returned to me post-covid round 2

this will eventually be an E-rated 5+1 fic fixing all the fucking bullshit around Cait Fallout4's companion quest. she will NOT go in the magic chair that tortures her into not being a junkie and being the perfect waifu. she is going to stumble backwards and accidentally into some harm reduction and get railed by a mean top. the mean top and the harm reduction won't fix her but they certainly won't hurt.

Hey, I'm looking for a freshwater Bitty that could accompany a healing moon-siren pup.

Her name is Echo, she's playful and curious about everything. She can be a bit hyper and loud, a little hard to keep up with. Her skin and her eyes and such glow bright, vibrant colors that reflect her mood, and she collects shiny objects in her lake, which can get rather cold, especially this time of year.

I'm looking more for personality that would go well with her own personality and her abilities and environment rather than specific morphs or anything, more than one is acceptable if necessary.

It might even be beneficial for her to have multiple. Echo doesn't have many friends right now, aside from one bashful lilypad puddle slime she's named lily.

You'll probably make better judgement on this than I would.

Hello! I have a few bitties here today that I think will do well with your lil siren pup!

First we have a Splenden!(LustTale Sans Betta fish), they are of course fresh water and the one here today goes by Carlos! He's ace and either gray or aro(he hasn’t found anyone yet) and she goes by he/she/they pronouns as well as some neo pronouse sometimes, xe mostly likes confusing others with their pronouns but she never lets it get out of hand! She is very motherly/fatherly and loves to help care for younger bitties when he can! They can swim pretty fast and is energetic enough to be able to keep up with your lil pup! She has the nightlight morph and some parts of his pattern glow softly in the dark and they're a mini, at 5 inches waist up and 11 inches total!

We also have an Ivory(UnderTale Papyrus Koi) bitty here today! She goes by she/her pronouns and currently goes by Ivy, she is very caring and just as energetic as ever! Koi bitties are on the larger size of mer bitties so keep that in mind! Though she is a mini shes still 4 feet total, and 9 inches from the waist up! She loves caring for bitties no matter their age and will basically adopt any bitty that lets her even if they're the one that’s older!

And we also have a Puddle(swap sans spino)! While they arent a mer they still love to swim and can stay underwater for awhile! The Puddle here today goes by Danny and goes by he/they pronouns! He's full of energy and on the smaller side, be's built more like a paleo-accurate spinosaurus! He's 8 inches tall at the shoulder and he usually walks on all fours(hence the size at the shoulder!) he love swimming and would be a good friend for your pup! Though not a good caretaker, he'd try his best but he's on the younger side too(barely a young adult, he was a teen just a few months ago), he doesn't have any morphs but is a pastel blue with white markings!

Having a toddler, Cas was used to seeing Jack running around the house playing games and causing trouble. But from his position curled up in their reading nook in the kitchen, Cas watched as Jack and Dean tiptoed past the doorway towards the living room with a trail of blankets and pillows. Oh, that was definitely mischief waiting to happen.

He'd been hearing the staged whispers and giggles from the next room for the last 20 minutes, along with the sound of moving furniture. It all spelt one thing. His husband and his son were up to no-good.

Closing his book, Cas quietly got up from his comfortable seat and crept around the corner to peer into the living room.

Blankets and bedding were strewn around the room. The couch had been moved and the chairs and table from the dining room were now perched at varying angles around the room. Pillows were stacked up in the corner, with big blankets draped across most of the chairs to make a large enclosure with a tunnel.

Leaning against the doorframe, Cas watched quietly with a beaming smile on his face

"Daddy, this one," Jack attempted to whisper, tugging along his favorite bumblebee blanket and holding it out to Dean.

"You got it, buddy," Dean said with a wink, pushing another chair forward and placing Jack's blanket on top of it.

There was some more shuffling as Jack pushed another chair towards Dean, and Dean handed Jack the next blanket to put up himself. Picking Jack up into a Superman hold, Jack giggled as he slung the blanket to make the tunnel longer.

“Shush,” Dean teased, even though his fingers wiggled across Jack’s sides and stomach, which made Jack scream with laughter. The two of them tumbled into a pile of pillows, Dean still tickling Jack and Jack’s limbs flailing everywhere as he gasped through his laughter.

Cas couldn’t stop beaming at the sight in front him. The laughter was infectious, and he felt his own bubbling up. Dean turned at the sound, grinning fondly at Cas as he finally stopped tickling Jack. The toddler caught sight of Cas in the doorway, and he ran and tackled Cas. “Papa! Daddy’s being the tickle monster,” Jack said, tugging at Cas’ pants.

“Oh, is that what’s going on here?” Cas asked, bending down to scoop Jack up into his arms.

“No. Blanket fort surprise,” Jack said as he looped his arms around Cas’ neck, and then realized what he’d said a second later because he scrambled to cover his mouth.

“Blanket fort, huh?” Cas asked, walking over to Dean and nudging his husband with his hip.

“Little Scamp over here wanted to watch a movie and sleep in a fort tonight with us,” Dean said, dropping a kiss to Cas’ cheek.

“Can I get in on this fort building business?” Cas asked, plucking Jack’s hand from his shoulder and kissing the little fingers.

“Yes! Papa come help me decorate inside,” Jack said, wiggling in Cas’ arms and scrambling towards the pillow pile.

“Looks like you’re construction and I’m interior designer,” Cas said, leaning into Dean’s space to sneak in a kiss.

Dean let out a little content sigh before breaking away to grab another blanket. “Welcome to the blanket fort team,” Dean said.

Jack’s hand was suddenly tugging at Cas’ finger, guiding him towards the entrance. “You gotta come inside, Papa,” Jack said before crawling through the tunnel.

Picking up a couple pillows and Jack’s Spider-Man blanket, Cas dropped to his knees and ducked inside. The fort was bigger than he expected, with several of the couch cushions already across the floor and Dean’s iPad at the ready for the movie.

“This is perfect, sweetheart,” Cas said, smiling at Jack’s proud little gesture at his work.

“It’s dark,” Jack confessed with a pout. The toddler had only recently started hating the dark, and Cas had gotten him a superhero nightlight for his room to keep the monsters at bay.

Cas smiled, motioning for Jack. The toddler crawled into his arms, and Cas dropped a kiss to the top of his head. “I think I’ve got the perfect way to fix that.”

Twenty minutes later, Dean had finished constructing the door and had made popcorn for the movie. Cas had found some camping lanterns in the garage and had placed the little lights in several corners of the fort to create a soft glow.

Jack hadn’t stopped babbling with excitement, tugging on Cas’ hand and Dean’s sleeve and giggling at the perfect fort.

With Dean’s iPad propped against one of the chairs, Jack nestled himself in between his dads as the opening scene of Finding Nemo played across the screen. Cuddled into their blanket and pillow mound, the three of them fell asleep in their living-room sized fort with the movie credits rolling across the screen.

Dean may have woken up with a stiff back and Cas’ arm was completely numb from Jack sleeping on top of it, but the smile was so big on Jack’s face when they all woke up in the fort that it was completely worth it.

"Again, Papa! Again, Daddy! Do it again, do it again," Jack cheered, wanting to stay all day in their homemade fort.

And if that same little smile convinced Cas to sleep in the fort the next night and the next, well, that was a little secret shared between him and Dean as they traded soft kisses while Jack grabbed some toys for the three of them to play with.

Headcanons

•Scarlet is the most childish, most mischievious, most temperamental and yet the most logical/sensible of the team.

•Sage is the wisest on the team. Him and Scarlet will NOT let Sun or Neptune make any major decisions. Only Sage.

•Scarlet cannot sleep without, one, something to hold in his sleep, and 2, a nightlight(phobia of the dark originally thought of by @nerdgasrnz )

•Sage is completely unashamed of exposing his body, but yet nervous about xxx. (Credit to mod Neo for that one)

•Scarlet and Sage ALWAYS team up against Sun and Neptune. Especially in betting or pranks.

•One time Neptune got payback on Scar for a prank and took his nightlight, Bell(see backstory), so Scarlet had to sleep with Sage. Ever since he refuses to sleep in his own bed.

•Scarlet and Sage DO have a bet on whether 'Sea Monkeys' will get together or not. Hint: they think they will.

•Scarlet is actually very, very, very sharp and intuitive. He gets bad vibes if something is gonna happen. Because of this, he is successfully able to prepare his team, and keep them from getting hurt. He can also read people with ease most of the time.

•Scarlet slips into pirate talk/mode when REALLY provoked.

•Scarlet also hates cursing and avoids it unless really angry.

•Sage was raised in a very humble home.

•Scarlet is very kind, cheerful and effiminate in public, but he's devious in the dorm towards Sun and Neptune. Him and Neptune fight, a LOT.

•Scarlet and Sage are both honest by nature, but Scarlet is more blunt.

Cherry tree backstory

When Scarlet first joined Team SSSN, he was known around Haven Academy for his temper. He was always grouching, alienating himself from others, and giving attitude when provoked the tiniest bit. No one, even his new team, could figure out why he was the way he was. One night, Sage woke up to some noises, and realized it was Scarlet. He spent the next few nights staying up, observing him. After watching him tossing and turning, sweating and shaking, Sage realized Scarlet suffered from nightmares, every night. The next day Sage went out and got him something. He confronted Scarlet, to the redhead's annoyance, and told him how he knew he had nightmares. Seeing no point in lying, Scarlet confirmed the suspicion. He's had nightmares since he was a kid, and told Sage that he pushed everyone away for a reason. He wouldn't elaborate why. Sage surprised him with a nightlight, with a faerie silhoutte on it, with a blue background, and a moon. Scarlet, not used to recieving gifts, didn't know what to think. He named the nightlight Bell(more on this and his phobia in the past i wrote for him!) and thanked Sage for the gift. Scarlet already knew his sexuality, and he knew how to identify his feelings. He knew in that moment, a spark ignited between them. He had feelings for Sage from then on, only growing stronger and fiercer over the months of knowing eachother. He apologized to the team for his behavior, told them about his phobia of the dark, and did a 180 in personality. He became nicer, happier, and more pleasant by the next day. The change was so drastic, Sun and Neptune weren't sure what to think. It was like talking to a whole new person. Sage and Scarlet both laughed, bonding from then on.

☕ The Lost Light Crew

He gestures haplessly, uncertain of the glyphs he wants to use. Neo Cybex is complex and layered and Nightlight can absolutely appreciate the range of ideas and concepts it allows him to express, for once, compared to many Earth languages or even Constellan or Starling pidgin, but in other ways he’s so spoiled for choice it becomes hard to narrow down to the exact meaning he wants.
