Prie dieu, or prayer desk, for Casa Batlló by Antoni Gaudi, 1906

This unique prie dieu, or prayer desk, was especially commissioned for the interior of Casa Batlló by world renowned Catalan architect and sculptor Antoni Gaudi. Crafted by Gaudi in 1906 in collaboration with the famed sculptor Jaume Busquets, the important ébéniste Gaspar Homar, and the Symbolist painter Aleix Clapes, this extraordinary piece represents an astonishing culmination of Catalan design. As a work of great historical significance as well as a wholly unique example of Catalan Modernisme, this prie dieu is among the greatest masterpieces of the turn of the century decorative arts.

Moon and Stars Diamond Tiara, ca. 1900

This tiara has a central sunburst and crescent moon motifs above a large cushion-shaped diamond, on a scrolling frame of shooting stars, set throughout with old brilliant-cut diamonds, mounted in gold. The principal diamond is approximately 1.75 carats, remaining diamonds are approximately 14.00 carats total.
