Re exploring the torso of the non segmented meridians and a movement exploration Here we have liver and spleen meridians pertaining to the deep frontline of fascia and the gallbladder pertaining to the lateral line of fascia. All of the other meridians that run through the torso have a similar intersegmental delineation of points as though some representation of the spinal segments. But here, these three they do something else. Just random? I find playing connect the dots with my body to be interesting, same side and opposite side. This is so true. The are many more times that I have to push the pain down to do the things that need done... than the times that I'm genuinely well enough to just do them. #chronicpain #fakingbeingwell #fake #pain #chronicillness #fibrowarrior #osteoarthritis #myofascialpainsyndrome #pinchednerve #nerves https://www.instagram.com/p/B4kTru8DyHf/?igshid=dm9d4d3ks0t1

Caregiving Injuries
The highest number of job-related injuries are in construction, and healthcare. Instructors and bosses engrain “body mechanics” into our minds so often that we hardly think about it when we go to help a patient. Body mechanics doesn’t quite come into play when your patient is combative, or violent and coming right at you.
2 years ago, a geriatric psychiatric unit. Let’s call the patient Jerry. Jerry was an accomplished businessman....he was at one of the classiest, “best”, private psych facilities around. Severe Alzheimer’s paired with schizophrenia and hallucinations. No amount or differences in medication could slow him down. He would destroy the house, his bedroom, ripping railings off walls and doors off hinges. He was completely unsafe to be around. Me, a 120 pound 19-year-old female, had known him for about 6 months and observed his condition. He was supposed to be a “one-on-one” patient, meaning he was to always have a caregiver with him. I was alone. In a unit of 12 psych patients. And Jerry. His caregiver hadn’t shown for their shift. It was getting to be late at night, the prime time for sundowning (dementia/Alzheimer’s patients come alive at night and think its daytime). Jerry wouldn’t go to sleep.
Someone once had told me I looked JUST like his wife back in the 70s.... red hair, large framed glasses, tall but slim figure. Little did I know, he used to treat his wife horribly. While having one one of his schitozphrenic hallicinations, Jerry made a beeline straight for me in the dining room. He grabbed me by my right arm, yanked and yanked while yelling something incoherent. He gripped so tight he left bruises on my write and forearm. He fell backwards to the floor, but with a large yank, pulled me with him. I fell on the tile floor next to him, on my right shoulder, rib cage, and hip. I saw his head bounce off of the tile just before mine did. I was completely alone, and heard major popping noises as I struggled to stand. He was laughing and mumbling, and I can’t remember after that.
Fast forward to now after having the full diagnoses:
Jerry passed away 3 months later after having a brain bleed from another significant fall just after ours.
I was compared to a car accident victim. Torn discs in my neck, rotator cuff, hip tear, herniated discs in my low back. Nerve impingement in my right extremities. Chronic muscular condition where muscular knots compress the nerves in my neck and shoulder. Shoulder, neck, back, and hip surgeries were all recommended. But countless hours in machines, medications, injections, physical therapy and counseling, and I am finally back on my feet after two years. Moving comfortably without the use of daily medications. I have a whole list of things I want to do that I haven’t been able to. From needing help showering, doing laundry, housekeeping, caring for MYSELF... I realized why I do this. Without the help of my sister and roommates I would’ve never survived through this lengthy, painful process.
I’m 21 now and ready to get out in the world when I have the time to, and finish my nursing degree I abandoned at 19. I never thought I’d see the day where I didn’t wake up in excruciating pain and need assistance with ADLs and chores.
I will never forget Jerry, or what happened to us. And I don’t blame him whatsoever—mental illness is a real thing and precautions need to be taken when you have a patient with different needs. Body mechanics can’t quite save you from violence, but being aware of the danger someone can cause you might just.

The beauty of breathing movements and fascia stretching is that it can be done anywhere. You don't require any equipment, specific physical condition or prior yoga experience. Fascia Yoga is a mindful practice combining breathing exercises and micro-stretching, to improve holistic relaxation, encourage positive thought processes and reduce symptoms of anxiety. My name is Alex Mero, initiator of Fascia Yoga. I have many years of holistic coaching experience, as well in Europe as in the U.S. My areas of specialization are myofascial tension release methods through deep relaxing movements with a focus on breathing techniques. For a personal coaching plan and on site guidance, let me know what your objectives and expectations are and I'll get back to you: [email protected] Are you a professional, instructor or a therapist in any holistic practice and would you like to co-organize a workshop or a retreat in your area, please contact me. I speak fluently French, English, Spanish and Dutch. Alex Mero Fascia Yoga Coach Breathing Movements https://www.instagram.com/p/CUUTiYADLH6/?utm_medium=tumblr

Its been quite some time since I've posted any art. I've been having a troubling time trying to manage my #myofascialpainsyndrome and its causing quite a bit of anxiety. But I'm trying to push myself back into the swing of things regardless of how much pain I'm in. #selfcare #anxiety #illustration #birdcage #weareyqq #chronicpain (at Cumberland, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnwvoOYjW8b/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=502i85aat7pr
