A/N: so I asked five of my friends if I should have snow or instruments be the main focus on what I was gonna write, and four of em said snow :3 so we got some playing in the snow headcanons with some my fav bsd characters.

Characters: Akutagawa, Atsushi, Chuuya, Sigma, Nikolai, Ranpo, Kyouka, Lucy, and Tanizaki

TWs ⚠️: Uhh- I don’t think there are any, but it is important to note that Kyouka’s is the only one that is written to be strictly platonic. You can choose romantic or platonic for the others :D GN!Reader

Akutagawa Ryūnosuke

It would take a lot of convincing to get that man within five feet of the door. And I mean a lot.

Why would you want to go outside in the freezing cold when you can stay inside where it’s nice and cozy?!

Once you explain to him that you want to play in the snow, he gets even more confused.

Why-?

He’d be sitting in a chair, his feet propped up on something with a book in one hand and a cup of tea in the other while staring up at you like you just grew two heads.

After you told him it was fun and something you really wanted to do, he stare for a second or two longer before spitting out a response.

“Okay….? Then go play in the snow..? What, do you need my permission??”

“No, I want you do come with me, Ryū!”

He would let silence envelope you so for a moment or so before saying a quick and simple “No.” and going back to reading.

After some puppy dog eyes and the best begging you could muster(along with a deal that you’d leave him alone for at least six hours afterwards) he’d finally go with you.

And when he was dressed up and finally ready to go outside with you, he’d watch you excitedly start making a snowman with a fond look on his face.(he will deny enjoying this for the rest of time.)

Atsushi Nakajima

He is hopping out of his seat and putting five coats on at the mere mention of snow.

You could tell him to put some warm clothes on and be ready to go outside and he’d do it in a heartbeat and with absolutely zero hesitation.

Once again, a lot of convincing will be needed.

What did you expect? The man is extremely busy like 24/7, he doesn’t have time to play in the snow?

When he actually finishes his work, he exited his office to see you already playing outside.

He decided that it would be most fun to quickly get ready and sneak up on you, who was busily forming the base of a snow fort.

There was a yelp as cold snow fell on top of you, and you turned to glare at the ginger who was smirking smugly.

But don’t worry, you got him back by pushing him over into the snow and dropping some snow down his shirt.

Sigma

Poor boy-

Being three years old, the poor guy has never played with snow once in his entire life.

So when you ask him to go with you, you’ll have to explain to him what the heck snowmen and snowball fights were.

He’s mildly interested when you do explain, but he doesn’t quite understand the point.

Doesn't being outside in the cold for a long time give you the risk to get sick?

Overall, he’s rather confused about the purpose of playing with cold, wet snow, but he’d agree.

Once he was free, that is.

And that turned out to be a lot quicker than he thought it would, perhaps it’s because your “silly” wants have peaked his interest.

He would quickly finish his duties his duties within the sky casino, and go to find you and get ready.

When you guys step outside, Sigma immediately felt chilly. The high altitude of the casino only making it colder.

He grunted as a snowball landed square in his face.

You giggled as you saw him frozen as he processed what you just did.

Before you could ask if he was okay, he quickly picked up some snow and threw it back at you.

He had a small smirk on his face, oh it was game on.

Nikolai Gogol

Oh boy.

He was the one who initially proposed the idea of playing in the snow, because why wouldn’t he.

He doesn’t care if he’s supposed to be busy, he’s dragging you outside with him whether you like it or not.

You could be busy, you could be relaxing, and he’s suddenly ambushing you and struggling to get a coat over your head.

He will make sure you’re nicely dressed for being in the snow.

After all, you’re no fun if you’re sick.

As he’s yanking you to your feet and dressing you in so many layers, you may as well become a fur ball at this point, he’ll be running his mouth, explaining in grave detail what he wanted to do.

“Okay, so first, we’re gonna make little forts, then we’re gonna hide behind them and throw snowballs at each other. Now- I promise not to throw them too hard, okay?”(that’s a lie, he’ll throw them as hard as he pleases)

You could only watch and nod as he led you outside to begin building.

I sure hope you wrote out your will.

Ranpo Edogawa

He’s busy eating snacks working at his desk, when you came in.

He took one look at your face and flushed cheeks from already having been outside for a while, and knew exactly what you wanted.

He debated whether or not abandoning his precious sna— I uh- I mean work just to make you happy.

He thought it over for a second and decided he could go a little bit without his food, and could grace you with his wonderful presence.

He stood up from his seat with his usual smirk and pointed his unfinished lollipop in your direction.

You didn’t even get to ask him before he started bargaining with you.

“I’ll go outside with you on one condition, you gotta buy me lunch.”

You paused, that actually didn’t sound that bad, so you agreed.

You two quickly got dressed (after Ranpo put his snacks away) and headed out of the office to play in the snow, leaving a extremely frustrated Kunikida at the door yelling at you.

It wasn’t very long before all the grass/ground surrounding the agency was covered in snow angels.

Kyouka Izumi

To be honest, I see Kyouka getting rather excited.

Sure she hadn’t done it in a long time, but Kyouka used to love to play in the snow when she was younger.

It was kinda a bittersweet thing to her.

So when you asked, she was more than willing to go with you. She gently grabbed your hand and led you all the way to her and Atsushi’s dorm to get some warm clothes.

Seeing that she didn’t have enough to comfortably be outside, you took your scarf that was hanging loosely on your shoulders off and wrapped it around her neck to help her keep warm.

Kyouka smiled at you when you did so then with increased energy, she took your hand again and made her way outside.

She immediately opened her mouth and tried to catch a falling snowflake on her tongue, being successful in doing so.

She turned to you with wide eyes and pointed at where the now-melted snowflake had been.

“[Name], did you see that?”

“Mhm!”

“[Name], let’s go make snowmen..!”

Before you could even respond, Kyouka grabbed your hand and jogged to the nearest open space to make a snowman.

You guys ended up making two, a bigger one complete with its younger sister.

Lucy Maud Montgomery

Lucy, much like Akutagawa, would decline immediately at first.

She’s in the middle of a shift, she can’t just abandon her job as a waitress.

Or so she thought.

Until her boss gave her the go-ahead that she could take a break and go play in the snow.

Her next argument would be that she was “too mature” to go play in snow.

But then you turned that right back around at her and asked if that meant you were immature.

She stuttered and blushed from embarrassment as she denied what you said.

“Then let’s go!”

Cue you grabbing her arm and running towards the building door and shoving her coat that you stole earlier into her arms.

Lucy sighed and reluctantly pulled her coat over her arms and stepped outside with you.

In the end, you guys had a lot of fun running around and pushing each other into the snow.

Tanizaki Jun’ichirō

Actually, Tanizaki was the one who suggested the idea.

He said it would be a fun way to get a break from all their work(totally not because he wanted to show off his snowball fight skills, nooo-)

He would offer to fetch your coat for you when you agreed, doing so anyway when you declined his offer.

He held your coat out for you as he put on his own on, happily suggesting the snowball fight he was planning.

You agreed, not thinking about how he could use his ability to his advantage.

And that’s exactly what he did.

He hid behind a tree and made his illusion self dash to hide somewhere else, effectively turning your attention away from where he actually was.

He hit you in the back of the head a little harder than he meant to, and immediately stood up to rush over and see if you were hurt.

Karma came so sweetly as he slipped and landed on his back.

There were no hard feelings though, you guys called a truce and laughed about it for the rest of the day

The closet is pretty small, hence why nikolai is leaning down, his hands are pressed firmly on each side of your head, inevitably pinning you in place

You nod as your face grows red, you begin to remember what you felt under you as you pray to god he didn’t notice

But, its like he can read you like a book, he smirks as he reaches for your chin, making you look at him “Yes,…I did notice and feel it” he says with a sly tone

You freeze in place as he says this, he then pulls away and softly smiles “Just be more careful and aware in the future, alright?”

He narrows his eyes as his tone changes to a more stern one, “Next time I won’t be so forgiving…~” he says as he begins to walk off

My Not-so-Deep, Not-so-Serious Explanation on Why This Could Totally be Canon

So... with Chapter 118 in bsd releasing, I have noticed a lot of Fyodor as Atsushi's father related things popping up and... I'm not mad about.

If anything, I'm happy the theory is getting more attention. People even seem to be taking it as canon fact, even if just jokingly.

Really, I believed the theory was plausible since it first was brought up in the fandom, but I never actually thought it would be canon because that just seemed too crazy. But those were the thoughts of a sweet summer child since the manga has gotten to the point where that might be the least crazy thing possible.

So, here I am at my keyboard yet again, ready to ramble about how, if this does somehow turn out to be canon, this might be actually rather predictable even to those who don't dive deep into the nitty-gritty lore.

Now, I won't ramble on and on endlessly about the book and Atsushi's ambiguous past and how he may be the book or a page from the book and yaddy-yadda. Instead, I'll focus on some key aspects of Atsushi's character design. First off...

His hair.

As I said, this is not all that serious or deep, so take my words with a grain of salt before you start bashing me or something for being ridiculous. You signed up for ridiculous when you started reading past the title.

Anyway, back to Atsushi's hair.

As we almost all know, Atsushi used to have a black streak in his hair that was later removed for unknown reasons, but he also has white hair.

Now, I could jokingly proclaim, "Hehe, biologically impossible Fyodor x Nikolai lovechild," and be done with it, but I am no clown, unlike Nikolai. No, I have a better, probably completely wrong, idea.

Most of us know that Fyodor has a thing for white-haired men.

Exhibit A: Every fucking member of the Decay of Angels

I rest my case.

Also, I feel the need to mention that 3 out of 6 of them have red-ish eyes while the other two have purple-ish/blue eyes. Just pointing out that little tidbit I noticed while finding pics for them.

So, it would make sense for Fyodor to pick and choose which attributes to give to his quote-on-quote "son" when he made him from the book, picking out certain traits he found appealing and pleasing to the eye.

(Also, yes, this could mean that Fyodor could have chose specific attributes that were similar to Nikolai. Boom, lovechild route.)

This could explain certain similarities between the characters who seemingly have no biological connection between one another. Their only connection then only being through Fyodor by just knowing him.

Got all that? Alright, next up...

His eyes.

Now, Atsushi's eyes are rather unique, even for the world of Bungou Stray Dogs. What also sticks out about them is the fact that they are pointed out and focused in from time to time.

To break down the colors of his eyes... While in normal lighting in the anime, they appear to be normally purple and yellow with just a hint of green in it, but under the full moon (as seen here) we can see that his eyes are a light green-yellow at the bottom and purple on the top that fades into blue.

(There are also a few times where his eyes also change while using his ability. Like when they turn almost fully yellow.)

I want to point out the colors of his eyes and the fact that they change due to certain circumstances (i.e: using his ability, being under the full moon), which is clearly not normal in their world seeing as how other ability users don't seem to do that at all.

(Edit here: I actually would like to mention that, in the manga, Nikolai's eyes also change color. The green one sometimes will change to match his normal eye whenever he uncovers it. I saw a theory talking about how it might change depending on whether or not he is lying at the time, which is pretty neat. More Atsushi and Nikolai parallels.)

Now, this might seem like a bit of a stretch just like the rest of this post, but the colors used for his eyes are similar to the eye colors of people Fyodor knows, though they are different shades.

Purple like Fukuchi. Green and blue from Nikolai.

Fyodor's eyes are also a shade of purple, kind of, so... Yeah, that works too, but Fukuchi's shade of eyes are closer to Atsushi's.

Yeah, that's all I can think of now and this is already way too long (if I start talking about Atsushi's mysterious past, I'm going to make this a mile long. Maybe later tho), so I'm ending it here for now.

So you want to read "No Longer Human"

One of the things that fascinates me most in this world is translation, and when it comes to reading literature not originally in English I always wonder how accurate what I'm really reading is, especially seeing how much a work can vary from translation to translation.

With this in mind, I set out with a friend to read all three official English translations of Osamu Dazai's Ningen Shinkkaku (best known in English as No Longer Human) in order to figure out which one was the best.

DISCLAIMER: I do not read Japanese so my ability to comment on the actual accuracy to the original text is limited, so most of what I am saying here is based in the readability in English etc. (That being said, if you know more about the original and the accuracy to the original of any of the translations below PLEASE let me know I would be so so interested.)

With no further ado, here are the translations in the order I read them:

1. No Longer Human, trans. Donald Keene (1958)

This translation is easily the most familiar to English speakers (for BSD fans, this is where you can find "page 21, 'Mine has been a life of much shame.'") The main pro of this translation is that is very easily accessible in the literal sense. On top of this, the writing style is relatively easy to understand, if a bit antiquated (see: published 1958).

Unfortunately, while much of the vagueness in this book is almost definitely a consequence of Dazai's own writing, this translation is far from perfect. When discussing it with my friend, we realized that a confusing scene (pages 153-154 in the paperback) actually appears to be a consequence of a mistranslation, as both of the other translations we read presented the same contrary interpretation.

Overall, Keene's translation is fine but can feel incomplete.

2. A Shameful Life (Ningen Shikkaku), trans. Mark Gibeau (2018)

New title alert!

Gibeau's translation felt more complete than Keene's (and I may have gone a little insane using my limited Japanese knowledge to see if a single detail was accurate which it did appear to be). The only real downside to this translation was the lack of italics used within the text, which made it a bit more difficult to follow at times when it came to the character's inner thoughts. That being said, I actually like this as a literary device, especially given that the framing of the novel is in the form of personal journals.

What really made this version stand out to me, however, wasn't necessarily the translation itself, but how the translator addresses it. This book provides a translator's afterward (rather than an introduction as in the other two) where Gibeau gets into the historical and cultural context necessary to really understand the novel, including the I-novel literary movement and Dazai's own life. This really helps readers (especially those less familiar with Japanese history and culture) to really understand some of the nuances of the novel, while the placement at the end - pointedly - first allows the text to stand on its own. Also, in addition to the afterward, Gibeau also provides a brief "Note on the Current Translation," where he explains the merits of multiple translations and a bit of his own process/experience translating, which I enjoyed reading.

3. No Longer Human, trans. Juliet Winters Carpenter (2023)

(I don't know why this cover image is massive but oh well.)

Most of what I remember about this translation is wanting to like it more than I did. I was excited to read a translation by a woman because of how female characters are treated in the novel, but I do not remember there being a distinct difference. (The only notable difference was in the specificity of the language used at one point in the first journal, but this wasn't related to gender and I'm not going to get into it here.)

This translation initially endeared itself to me by directly referencing Bungo Stray Dogs in the introduction for its role in increasing the popularity of the novel among English speaking fans (even though Winters Carpenter somewhat misrepresents the series), but the introduction as a whole does very little to contextualize the novel, especially not compared to Gibeau.

Broadly speaking, I found this translation forgettable.

In conclusion,

I would recommend Gibeau's translation over the other two. However, each translation has its advantages and disadvantages, and you will still get the story from all of them if that's what you care about most.

“Wherever you want.”

You sighed. “Well that doesn’t help! This dates for you, after all.” Kunikida’s face became a slight shade of pink at your confession. “Alright. How about somewhere like a park? We could just go there for a little. I think going outside would do me some good right now.” Kunikida was trying to stay calm, but he was clearly very, very ready for this date with the way his foot tapped against the floor lightly.

“The park sounds nice! I can bring us something to eat, too.”

Kunikida gave a surprisingly warm smile and replied, “that sounds nice.”

Today is the day! You thought. It was now two hours from when Kunikida would leave work, so you decided to start getting the food ready. All kinds of things were packed, but it was all stuff you made yourself. You knew Kunikida would feel more appreciated if you made the food yourself.

You hummed in the kitchen faintly, clearly very excited for what was to come.

It was now half an hour before you left, luckily, you were already dressed under your apron. You untied your apron from behind your back, and hung it up where you typically do. You went into your bedroom to grab your wallet before leaving when you noticed a special something on your nightstand.

‘ ah, I forgot about that. ’ What lay before you was new lingerie you bought because you saw it at the mall recently and you couldn’t bring yourself to go without it, it was just so fitting of you. It fit your body perfectly, brought undeniable confidence and you just knew how much Kunikida was gonna love it.

Kunikida sighed and closed his eyes tight and rubbed his temples after sitting down on the bench next to him.

“Dazai was teasing me the entire time. He somehow knew I was planning something after work and wouldn’t leave me alone about it trying to guess what it was.”

You laughed and responded, “well, did he figure it out?”

“Yes. Then he went on and on about how he’s surprised I was able to meet someone who actually fit my ‘standards’”

“That’s funny though!”

Kunikida looked at you doubtfully as you sat down. “Not when you have to deal with it every day of the week.”

“I guess it could get a little annoying.”

There was a part of you that wanted to tell Kunikida what you were wearing underneath your clothes, but there was another part of you that wanted to wait till you got home so you wouldn’t have to deal with a scolding from Kunikida for trying to have sex with him in public, so you decided to keep it a secret for the entirety of the date, no matter how disappointing it was.

You looked around for a minute, looking at the trees surrounding you two, and the well maintained grass that was just below your feet, the warm sun hitting your skin.

The typical person would probably be offended by this response, but you knew Kunikida too well. He was blunt, and sometimes it came across as rude. But you knew better than that, this is just how he is, but you love him for it.

“I fell for you too hard to let you go,” Kunikida replied, not realizing how lovestruck his confession sounded till a couple of seconds after it left his mouth. “..or something like that.” Kunikida finished his reply with his cheeks turning pink again, this time more vibrantly.

“How cute! I love you so much, Doppo.” You said as you gently wrapped your arms around him, in order to reach him better you moved onto his lap and he sat still for a few seconds before moving his arms to wrap around you as well.

Kunikida arrived in his bathroom and laid some mint flavored toothpaste on top of his toothbrush before he looked over and saw you, changed into your pajamas. He assumed you were just coming in to brush your teeth as well, which would be correct. What caught him off guard, however, was the fact he could see a lacy bra strap peeking out from the neckline pajamas you were wearing.

You, being who you are, noticed this and made a sly facial expression despite having a toothbrush occupying your mouth at that moment. Despite Kunikida arriving to brush his teeth before you, you had finished first. Probably because he was staring at what he (rightfully) assumed to be lingerie. Because you were done, you laid your head on Kunikida and closed your eyes.

“Well, I’ll see you in the bedroom.” You said, with the smallest amount of flirtatious undertones. Kunikida grabbed your shoulder when you were in the door frame and asked you a question rather bluntly.

🎲 what stops you writing more in your free time?

Motivation usually. I always WANT to write but by the time I'm done with work, I'm exhausted or miserable and I just want to zone out. I've got plenty of ideas, I just struggle to actually turn them into fics

🐇 do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts or a mix of both?

For a LONG time, all I wrote was OCs. Almost every fandom I've joined, I made an OC for. It's only in the last few months that I've started writing reader insert and honestly, I love both. My OCs will always have a special place in my heart, and I love reader insert because it encouraged me to branch out a little and it's meant that I've met so many wonderful people.

i like the guild a lot actually!! i’ll give a brief opinion on the members!

francis: i didn’t like him during the guild arc but anything after that has been great. the fitzgerald rising chapter/episode really made me love him

(maybe it’s just me being a bit of a capcom nerd but was this an ace attorney reference? the positioning and font makes me think it’s a tribute to phoenix wright)

mark: i just like him. his design is cool and his ability is sick!!

john: i actually can’t wait to see him again. i really really hope they touch on his reformed guild bit soon. him vs fitzgerald maybe to form the group? his ability is great and i love his "new" design. the more i think about him the more i like him. cool guy.

nathaniel: i love his design and his ability is cool but he annoys me a lot as a character sorry </3

poe: LOVE HIM!!! he used to be a top 5 character for me but i still adore him. he’s silly and i love his design and karl is awesome. really fun ability as well

louisa: i kinda feel bad for her. let’s get my girl some confidence please. she’s a cutie though

james: i wouldn’t even blame you if you didn’t know who this guy was. certified background character. he has like maybe two lines maximum. he may be the first bsd character that has zero fans. i’ll be his first fan. hi james from bsd. ur alright. he was given a name so hopefully he at least makes some sort of reappearance. update: nevermind i looked him up and he’s the guy the mafia killed after the whole anne’s room thing. i thought it was some random guy. he��s so nothing i forgot he died. sorry man

herman: he’s kind of handsome. a nobal man but i have nothing more to say. idk exactly what his ability is though (except that it’s a whale) so more clarification on that would be nice

margaret: yeah honestly nothing to say. she seems nice from now francis spoke of her. and her and nathanial are a funny duo but on their own i don’t really care much about either tbh

one thing that has annoyed me a lot lately is this picture of the guild from the anime:

my issue with that photo is that neither of the "??" characters look like poe. the one sitting on the far left kind of looks like another version of francis, but why would he be there twice? and where’s poe? and who’s the other guy on the far right? he kind of looks like atsushi but i don’t see why he would be there.

moriarty the patriot - this scene i can't even begin to explain it. it was so well written and emotional. i think it captured the message of yuumori incredibly well. you did bad, you were wrong, now work to be better. a brand new start. you don't have to forgive yourself, you just have to to move on, and i'll do it with you. absolutely lovely scene :( <3

bungou stray dogs - ranpo's invitation to yosano fucking CINEMATIC okay. i cried. the way it was set up, with ranpo kneeling to yosano's level and promising her a place to stay. the lighting of this scene giving it such a hopeful look. the emotional impact. they are my favourite duo in bsd and their dynamic is sooo precious to me and i just. one of my fav scenes in bsd EVER!!!

haikyuu - tsukishima's block THIS WAS JUST PHENOMANAL KSFHJ. the POWER. the SCREAM. the perfect moment for his character arc, the 'it' moment. oh my god. i only very recently got into haikyuu and this scene lives in my head rent free

vanitas no carte - s2 finale fight THEY WERE INSANE FOR THIS. this entire fight had me on the edge of my seat. if it's one thing vnc is an expert in it's setting a scene. the rain the lighting the FEAR through the screen. this shit was RAW. when vanoé got into the 'ill kill you thatll shut you up' position i literally screamed. vanitas' turmoil vs noé's devastation oh my godddd. domi unlocking her powers. jeanne's entire role. there was so much happening and GOD it was amazing i loved it

jujutsu kaisen - so start by saving me sigh. LIFE GETS BETTER DONT GET INTO JUJUTSU KAISEN. this panel lives in my head rent free and i think if i ever see it animated i'd burst into tears. megumi saying this to yuuji means so much to their characters okayyy two people who have always been saving each other, megumi who watched yuuji die in front of him, IT MEANS SO MUCH. i would ramble more but alas i dont wanna turn this into an essay

moriarty the patriot - james bonde's reveal INSANE PLOT TWIST. bonde is my favourite yuumori character and i just. this was so funny. fym he chose bonde because of the bonds he made with the lord of crime gang IT'S SO CUTE 😭 i have nothing to say i just adore bonde and this is thus one of my fav scenes ever

moriarty the patriot - the moriarty brothers reunite CRIED FR. i just. the EMOTIONS. the way they did everything for each other and had to separate for three years and how both albert and louis thought william was dead and how none of them really ever forgave themselves but they forgive each other, so thats all that matters, isn't it? and how soothing this hug was, like finally finding your home again, and how THEY ARE FAMILY ough im so ill. i adore this moment

bungou stray dogs - you are but a child this scene hurt me then healed me. i actually cried so hard. their dynamic is so important to meee and they're both learning to care and love for the first time and they found comfort in each other and ranpo is just a CHILD and fukuzawa helps him see that it's okay and and. sniffles. bring them back asagiri this is a threat

vanitas no carte - i've decided to stay by your side, vanitas this is just because i'm in love with noé and i think vanitas realised things about himself here too/j. but on a serious note i think this was one of the greatest turning points in their relationship. i like the vibe of them on the tower and the sun rise coming up when they swear to stay together. cinematic asf

• Chuuya would squeeze your hand everytime a gore scene happens because even if he works for PM it still makes him uncomfortable

• When there is a betrayal in the movie chuuya gets like, obviously angry since he hates betrayal

• Chuuya is definitely cussing out the movie if he gets like jump scared badly

• You or Chuuya would probably and up falling asleep after a couple movies and either one would have to carry the other to bed

• If y'all don't fall asleep durning the movie(s), Chuuya definitely cuddles you after the movie(s)

• Dazai is for sure a more of a kid movies/romance movies rather than horror but he watches them with you anyways (my opinion)

• Dazai says he's not scared but he literally screamed in the first 30 minutes into the movie

• Dazai definitely stress eats durning the like stupid scenes where the female/male is getting chased and they trip

• Dazai is the one to fall asleep first if the movie gets boring he won't even hide it, he will lay his head on your lap, shoulder, arm etc.

• Nikolai would want to watch clown horror movies to make fun of how stupid they look

• Nikolai would make little jokes like putting his hand through his cape abd tapping you on the shoulder when you seemed bored to him

• Nikolai would eat every sweet there so yall would have to pause the movie and go get more

• Nikolai would ask SO many questions such as "Why'd they even trip nothing was there" "that person is stupid, what are they even doing?" Etc.

• Nikolai would get annoyed at how stupid the actors are in the movie(s) even if he knew that's how the script was

It was a late night and Chuuya just got home from work, y'all decided since it was the start of Halloween, y'all would watch a horror movie. So y'all went out quickly to get snacks, drinks, popcorn etc. Y'all then came back and settled down in the living room, cuddled together, a blanket draped over the two of y'all.

Y'all decided on a simple classic, The Grudge. You could already tell Chuuya was doubting the movie, his leg tapping, running his hand through his hair, biting his nails etc. Chuuya was afraid of looking like some wuss in front of you, Chuuya wasn't one to do horror movies, he didn't like them he preferred action more than anything.

About half way through the movie, Chuuya was squeezing your hand tightly. Maybe he was uncomfortable with the movie? Who knows though, because you didn't. All you did was interlock your fingers with Chuuya's gently rubbing the top of his hand with your thumb to sooth him.

After the movie was finished, which was about 1 hours long, you looked over at chuuya. He was asleep, his head lay back on the back of the couch. You slowly got up, picking up the smaller ginger, carrying him to the room y'all share. You lay chuuya on the bed and cover him, getting in the bed with him. A soft "I love you" escaping your mouth..

Dazai❀ 🐌

Dazai and yourself were at yall's shared apartment. You and the brunette were bored out of yall's mind, pacing in the house, playing eye spy, etc. It was a complicated time for a simple conclusion, go out buy food and watch movies all night. So that's exactly what y'all did

Y'all drove to a store, buying salty, sweets, popcorn, Carmel popcorn, etc. Whatever y'all wanted then, and once the both of y'all arrived home, you and the brunette got comfortable on the couch and started up a good horror movie.

It was about 30 minutes into the movie when things got suspensful. Dazai was eating most the sweets (stress eating) but you were fine with it, it's not like the sweets were expensive. There was a lot of gore and killing, the actors being well, the stupid actors they are, tripping over nothing calling out etc.

Once the movie was over y'all both sighed.. Y'all were tired and well, full. So the brunette decided to go to bed and you followed quickly behind. The both fell asleep in the bed. Cuddles to one another.

Halloween was coming up, Nikolai and yourself decided to work on Halloween costumes. It took about an hour or so to remotely figure out one thing y'all wanted to do for a costume, matching? No. Extremely scary? Maybe not. It was so hard to figure anything out. So y'all both decided to take a break and watch a horror movie.

Y’all quickly decided on a movie, Terrifier, it’s a simple gorey clown movie. The both of y’all had went to the nearby gas station, grabbing a couple of snacks. It took only about 30 minutes for y'all to go there and back and get comfortable in the couch turning on Netflix and turning on the movie. Y’all were gently cuddled together in a warm blanket.

The movie was about 30 minutes into the movie, there was a lot of blood guts etc. and then Nikolai decided to mess with you. Using his ability to tap you on the shoulders, rubbing your leg etc. just trying to scare you a bit. But it didn’t work because you could see the bright glow of the portal but every time you smiled at it.

Until y’all knew it, the movie over and y’all were getting up to stretch your limbs, soft hums and soft noises of bones cracking. After y’all had cleaned up the two of y’all decided to get back to figuring out costumes. Hours passed and it was around two in the morning, y’all were both tired and exhausted but y’all ended up figuring something out, ghostface and a killer clown (of course Nikolai was the killer clown.) Once y’all had finished ordering things online y’all went to the room the two of you shared, getting comfortable under the sheets and blankets, falling asleep slowly

hello I finished bone shard daughter and that was Quite a Ride!! however, my friend who gave me bsd said book 2 wasn't as good and he didn't like book 3 :(( what do you think? Worth reading the Rest?

I did not enjoy it as much as the first, no, but that's usually how things go for me? the first of a series is Shiny And New and then by the second my brain is like "okay. and?" (this is why i space out reading series and also why i have trouble finishing a series)

BUT I did still enjoy it! I liked seeing Lin try to figure out who she was on top of trying to figure out how tf you run an empire. I liked uh. what were their names. The Lesbians. Thir dynamic was SO interesting and I liked seeing them work things out! Jovis and Mephi are always a fave. I didn't like the romance between Jovis and Lin, but what else is new lmao the final battle was engaging and one of the scenes that has stuck in my head!

I haven't read book three yet, I've been waiting to acquire the paperback so they can be matchy matchy on my shelf, but found it recently so it's in the rotation now!

Perusing some reviews, a lot of people seem to think pacing in the last two books is an issue. So. Do with that what you will. Personally, if the characters are strong, I'll put aside most bad feelings about the rest, and I felt that with the first two books. But if you're not feeling it, you're not feeling it! That's okay! If it helps, Mephi gets Big And Annoying in book two. Just saying. Dragon dog.

(i am) the whisper of a memory - this has to be number 1. this is probably my favorite fic i've ever written. i don't want to spoil it but i made some risky stylistic choices and i think they really really paid off bc it turned out so good and i've had multiple people tell me it is THE megumi fic of all time and that is a badge i wear with great pride

2. the body i'm in - my akutagawa siblings character study fic!! also known as body dysmorphia: the fic. this fic was actually a really early idea i had shortly after i got into bsd so i'm proud that i not only managed to write it but also that i was happy with how it turned out after daydreaming about it for so long

3. alive & free (look at me!) - i've only had this fic finished for about a month but. wow. i really wrote 22k words about two characters i previously hardcore struggled with in one week. there's something so very wrong with me but at least it's mildly entertaining for a handful of people on the internet

4. the things all come and gone - my geto with sleep issues character study fic!! this got way longer than i expected but i think it turned out so well and i had so much fun writing it

5. this ultraviolet morning light - i think this one has to go on the list bc it's the longest fic i have published sitting at a pretty 86k words and i still can't believe i actually did that

the older one ( top left ) is Finn, short for Finnegan. and in the bottom right is Sheeta ( named after Lusheeta from Castle in the Sky ), his younger sister

🐇⋆.˚ do you prefer writing original characters, reader inserts, or a mix of both? 

mmmm definitely original characters! especially with bsd fic, since there's a wealth of inspo for them with the author's other works. almost all of the original characters in TSP have names derived from book characters, turn-of-the-century American authors, or something along those lines. I've never written reader insert! it does sound fun though. i may try it out.
