I LOVE FRIENDSHIP this is so so so real i’ve always felt that platonic feelings and affection are so ignored in society like bro friendship can be just as important as romantic relationships like the idea of a platonic life partner is actually very compelling to me and no one i’ve talked to understands that 😭

I think people should be allowed to sleep in the same bed in a non sexual and non romantic way. I think cuddles can happen non sexually and non romantically. I think most acts of affection are non sexual and non romantic until you make it sexual or romantic (other than the obvious things like actual sex is sexual)

okay opinion incoming im sorry but genuinely ENOUGH with the modern companion thats just a quirky 20 something year old girl from current year who also happens to be the most special person ever born. how about we pick up ugg from caveman times next, hm? or maybe just some guy from like the 50s. maybe a young girl, but from the far far future? can they at least be totally unimportant to the universe, but important to the doctor none the less. i miss when the tardis team was a real mix of total randos, it felt believable that he'd find amazing intelligent people from every time to be his friends. the vibe was different when the companion was special in their own way, not forced to be by greater powers. i loved that rose was just like me when i was a kid; low income, totally normal day to day life, realistic messy home - but she was still brave & smart. ruby is like a pinterest perfect shiny smooth engineered companion to me idk, like her outfits colour co-ordinate with her perfect apartment? millie gibson didnt do a bad job acting at all but the character itself to me feels made to be a companion in a lab, not an organic person who just happened to come along for the ride. dare i say i think graham was a better companion, i just wish the writing had been better, i was actually so excited for an old man companion + young female doctor dynamic lol.

i think thats why jamie is my favourite, a scottish highlander from the 1700s who cant read & has no idea whats going on most of the time, but is the doctors best friend all the same & they have a real connection regardless. i feel like he brings ideas & perspective to situations the doctor wouldnt have otherwise thought of.

Can I just say that one of my favorite parts of the 457-dynamic in fandom is that usually In-ho’s big bad nefarious evil plan to convince Gi-hun to join his side is — to show that he loves him? That’s it. No frills, no nothing. He just worships the ground Gi-hun walks on.

And here’s the best part.

It works. Gi-hun is not a protagonist who’s above it all. He doesn’t turn his nose up at it. Even when he rejects In-ho, it’s not about whether he’s tempted or not, it’s about him being opposed to In-ho’s ideology. The man, for all his kindness, for all the way he freely gives affection, has probably never been treated like he’s worth something in his life. He’s so touch-starved, love-starved — that actually yeah, being in love with him is a strategy that works.

And the way it’s practically canon too. For example the part where In-ho slipped up and called Gi-hun by his name:

Do you know you’ve known this man for two days Gi-hun? Do you know you’re third-wheeling a room of four-hundred people? Oh my god get it together!

Honestly it’s downright diabolical. They are soulmate-coded and I eat it up.

CSM 194 : How Asa sacrificed herself to counter Yoru and save Denji

From Asa's point of view, sharing her mind and body with Yoru is dangerous.

Yoru can turn what belongs to her into a weapon, and it's clear that in these final chapters, unlike at the start of part 2, Asa is the one who appears, but no longer the one who manages daily life (taking part in conversations, eating, sleeping) and, above all, who makes decisions.

This is interference, and Yoru can very well turn Asa's body into a weapon. Semantics are also important: personality. This further blurs the barrier between Yoru and Asa.

I think Asa realized that the more she gave in to Yoru, the more she lost control. When she had wanted to oppose her, Yoru had been offended that she was "afraid" of her or didn't trust her. But : there's nothing more normal than being afraid of a devil.

Asa and Yoru may share their feelings and their bodies, but that doesn't change the fact that they don't share their nature. Yoru is a devil.

Asa has become attached to Yoru, and I think that Yoru loves Asa not in a human sense, but in a purely organic, egocentric way: she's her.

Especially when Asa decides to trust Yoru, Yoru betrays her trust

She even monopolizes Asa's story

When in reality: NO, Asa is not Yoru. Yoru is a parasite who considers her body her own, but that doesn't mean she's the same entity as the invaded body and mind.

If there's one thing that shocks fans, it's the way Yoru steals Asa's first experiences: her first kiss, her """first intimate act""", in a violent way.

When Nayuta says thief, it's not necessarily to be understood as the replica of a possessive little sister, it has a double meaning: Yoru steals Denji from Asa, or rather she steals her own life from her since she steals her experiences.

For the sake of a better union, Asa has accepted this "merger", and it's been "productive".

But she now sees the downside, whether it's Yoru haggling with her body, which is a first split because Asa surely doesn't want to haggle her first time around.

Second split: turning Denji into a weapon. Asa wants to save him at all costs.

The way to save Denji lies precisely in disunity. And I imagine that what Asa would like to do / or at least could do is accentuate the differences. She can't do it through feelings, because Yoru and Asa feel the same. But she can do it through actions and, above all, through the perception of others.

This is a theory, but Asa is someone who has good ideas and who has been able to "turn" a power against a devil several times or who has used Yoru's power in an ingenious way.

So :

Basic rule: Yoru can turn anything she thinks belongs to her into a weapon. The devil of war has indeed drawn close to Denji, which allows her to reinforce this feeling of possession. This is also how Asa feels, since she shares the same feeling as Yoru.

But if she creates distance between herself and Denji, creates animosity in order to fuel a feeling of danger on his part that would push him to back off to protect himself (because he already senses danger, hence his questions to Pochita), Denji no longer belongs to the devil of war

But remember, one can't hide anything from the other, so Asa can't think of a plan

However, she can use what she has observed, how did Yoru manage to surprise her? Through her impulsiveness. Through the Bang. All she did was wait to trigger that sudden instinct to oppose Yoru. And how can she prevent Yoru from regaining control? By scaring herself. Fear is what drives them apart.

Asa did not fight against the interference, she used it: the more Yoru took control, the less she mistrusted, the more she became attached to Denji, the more painful the rejection will be and the more effective the disunity will be. Her absence is her weapon. As well as its loneliness.

Bucky is the symbol of this rejection, but also the key to it. When Asa sees all these chickens again, it is also because she is once more truly alone in her dreams, in her unconsciousness. Running for her is a positive symbol for her character. Yuko and Denji are two beacons of hope, and the fact that she runs is a sign of her emancipation. When she runs in her dreams, she breaks free from Yoru.

Her fears, whether it be the perception of others and rejection, which distanced her from others, from people, from humanity. From now on, this is her best means of rediscovering her humanity. By cutting herself off from the one who had given her back her hope in others.

Bucky’s choice of clothing and outfits this movie is a bit fascinating, actually.

(I don’t know if I’ve talked about this before but whatever)

First, a little flashback to the conversation he had with Sam in TFATWS Ep5 “Truth”:

Sam: “Let me ask you. You still having those nightmares?”

Bucky: “All the time. It means I remember. It means a part of me is still there. Which means a part of the Winter Soldier’s still in me.”

(Note, this is despite his mandated “I’m no longer the Winter Soldier” bit and his reluctantly-adopted moniker of White Wolf (that nobody outside of Sam and Wakanda knows), but this isn’t about that)

Flash forward to the Thunderbolts* trailers and promotional posters, we see that Bucky is in black-colored civilian clothing for most of the time.

In some shots we see him in a jacket. He accessorizes with a back/shoulder holster. I have no clue where he got that one from, we’ve never seen him with one of those before. There is a weapon, likely a big gun, in said holster.

In other shots he’s in a simple short sleeved t-shirt. This is actually pretty good of a development because he started wearing t-shirts (without the long sleeve shirt on the inside) in TFATWS, which means he doesn’t carry a super heavy burden with him anymore. Sure, it’s a black t-shirt, also likely the same if not a similar one he wore in TFATWS (Ep4, I think?). It’s kind of telling that he’s got full control over every action he takes but yet he still has a dark past that he can’t escape from.

Gloves. It’s not unusual for Bucky to be wearing gloves, it’s just that this is kind of the first time we see this specific combo of short sleeves and gloves. Kinda neat.

His utility belt. It is EXACTLY the same one he wore during his Winter Soldier days. Attached to said belt are some canisters, a pouch or two, and a thigh holster for his right leg. The fact that he pairs this utility belt with his casual civilian outfit — making him stand out against his fellow costumed antiheroes — suggests that it is, as Sebastian Stan said some time ago, “about acceptance and owning up to your actions, which is something my character has been dealing with for years.” It suggests that he, by that point, is leaning significantly in the direction of reconciling and accepting that not only is he James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes, part of who he used to be, it is also true that “a part of the Winter Soldier’s still” in him. That even though he’s fully rehabbed and turning over all sorts of new leaves (running for Congress and winning? That’s new!), he still retains a very particular skill set and a history that he can’t never run away from. So if he can’t run, why run any longer?

He can be both Bucky (in person and mindset) and the Winter Soldier (in skill and ability, but in clarity and full control of himself), and the possibility exists that he may fully take on the moniker White Wolf, after he has 100% accepted that he is a sum of who he once was before the war, what he was made to be for decades, who he became after that, and who he can start being.

As someone who has been homeschooled since 6th grade, there ABSOLUTELY needs to be more regulations. Lessons were all over the place and I was forced to self teach most of my subjects, and my parents moods affected my grades, meaning if they were mad at me, I could get F's on assignments and tests despite how good I did on it. It frustrated me to no end and it caused a lot of resentment in me. This is something that needs to be discussed more, because kids deserve good educations.

homeschooling in the US needs to be regulated but this is one of those conversations that immediately gets crushed by extremist conservatives and even well-meaning liberals will pipe up to be like "well some homeschooling is good!" when that's absolutely not relevant. regulation will not change anything for the homeschooling families who are serious about their children's education. the people who need to be regulated are the fringe extremists

…For clarification purposes this is a joke — have whatever icks you like in fanfiction, and you’re valid for them, as long as you don’t get on some high horse about it and claim you’re objectively right, because news flash:

No matter what you pick, you’re not and never will be objectively correct. Writing is a matter of pure taste and there’s no such thing as “good” or “bad” writing styles — only personal taste. Get off your soapbox; you aren’t special, your opinions aren’t more correct than anyone else’s no matter how many books you’ve read, and no writer fucking cares what turns you off, nor should they, because they shouldn’t be writing for you but for themselves, and what they enjoy, what they’re passionate about, and what makes them happy.

I see so many people claim that epithets are “bad writing” especially in fanfiction and I can only burst out laughing because I actually specifically prefer this style of writing as a reader and will enjoy every fanfic that doesn’t use these far less, and as a matter of fact I enjoyed these types of descriptions so much in books that I adapted from not using them into using them in my writing because I enjoyed them and think they sound way better than any alternative out there I’ve seen, both in fanfiction and in regular books.

Honestly gotta be one of my favorite things ever and I’ll die bloodied and bruised before you’ll ever be able to pry it out of my hands or convince me it’s “bad writing”.

Out of all of the options here, my personal ick is the overuse of “said”, but honestly there is no ick I have to which I can’t make an exception because again, there is no such thing as objectively “bad writing”; it’s all a matter of personal taste, and just because a lot of books in general execute one of these things on the list in some way I don’t enjoy doesn’t mean that there isn’t a fic out there that does use that exact same thing in a way that will suit those personal tastes.

At the end of the day, you like what you like and that’s wonderful. Just don’t get a big ego over it and go thinking you’re any more correct than anyone else, or you’re some superior writer.

And to those who might be discouraged by the results of this poll or the snobs in the reblogs, chin up, my friends; the true reality is that we’re all equals in our craft depending on which person you ask, and fanfiction even more than any regular book writing out there is supposed to be about personal enjoyment. You don’t owe anyone anything and you shouldn’t let anyone convince you your writing is mid if you yourself enjoy it.

I’m a proud, proud epithet user, I’m a fanfic writer of over 24 years, I’ve read many, many books, my writing fucking rules all the more for the use of them, and I bend the knee to no one who tells me otherwise. The only determiner of my worth is me and my own enjoyment.

Then Falin just agreeing to leave with him without letting anyone at the school know? Assuming she didn’t even leave a note for anyone since she might assume nobody really cared if she just disappeared out of nowhere?

She and Laios had been adventuring for 3 years prior to the series. So during the time when they went to the island and got jobs bodyguarding Gold Strippers Marcille might have decided to track Falin as soon as she left.

Once she finally found the siblings she doesn’t hesitate to scold Laios for essentially kidnapping his sister and dragging her to some island without anyone’s knowledge. Falin had to reassure Marcille that it was her choice to follow her brother. It was probably then that Marcille decided to join their party. Shortly before the Red Dragon incident. Marcille would have dragged Falin back to school if that was what she wanted but Falin wanted to stay by her brother’s side so Marcille decided to join as well.
