an idea i have for the sevika x reader labyrinth au is that reader was really into fairytales when they were a kid and, being an escapist in an unhappy family, always loved most the stories about children being taken away by fairies and goblins, never to return to the human world.

adult reader is in a horrible spot in their life: abusive relationship, horrible job, living paycheck to paycheck, abusive family still having too much influence over their life, etc. one night they can bear it no longer and curl up in their bed with their old favorite fairy book, reading the stories about going to the goblin kingdom and repeating the spells to themself. “goblin king, goblin king, whatever you may be, take me far away from this awful place!” and the goblins are listening but it’s not the right words. as reader is crying themself to sleep, they say to themself, “i wish the goblins would come and take me away, right now”

they wake up in a room in the goblin king’s castle at the center of the labyrinth and sevika is the goblin king 🥰 i dont envision her wearing the glittery flouncy clothes that jareth likes, but something more gritty and layered in dark earth tones.

i’m thinking that the main thrust of the story will involve reader initially loving living with the goblin king but they slowly realize it’s extremely isolating and they have no dreams, goals, long term desires anymore. just day to day decadence and stagnating. they eventually make the impossible decision to challenge sevika the goblin king for freedom and to return back to their regular life because they’ve realized that even their deepest fantasy realm is shallow to them. goblin king sevika is devastated when reader says “you have no power over me” because all she wanted was to live up to the fantasy that reader dreamed of.

but, back in the regular world, reader takes charge of their life and now knows they hold all the power they need. and one day they meet a woman at a bar who looks suspiciously like the goblin king of their dreams…

Thinking about how Laios visited his sister at her magic school in the middle of the night all disheveled.

Then Falin just agreeing to leave with him without letting anyone at the school know? Assuming she didn’t even leave a note for anyone since she might assume nobody really cared if she just disappeared out of nowhere?

She and Laios had been adventuring for 3 years prior to the series. So during the time when they went to the island and got jobs bodyguarding Gold Strippers Marcille might have decided to track Falin as soon as she left.

Once she finally found the siblings she doesn’t hesitate to scold Laios for essentially kidnapping his sister and dragging her to some island without anyone’s knowledge. Falin had to reassure Marcille that it was her choice to follow her brother. It was probably then that Marcille decided to join their party. Shortly before the Red Dragon incident. Marcille would have dragged Falin back to school if that was what she wanted but Falin wanted to stay by her brother’s side so Marcille decided to join as well.

As a kid, I always found the sci-fi trope of overpopulation to be very strange. Like, if there's not enough room or food to go around, why not just, y'know, stop having kids? The whole thing sounded like something that would fix itself soon enough.

Sure, us humans have a bad reputation for poor long-term planning, but I found it quite frustrating when, in fiction, overpopulation was depicted as such an insurmountable hurdle when the solution seemed obvious to me when I was still in middle school.

And it turns out I was right! Middle school me has been vindicated!

Working on my novel and couldn’t figure out why it felt so empty. I didn’t have any filler. It was all 100% plot. The characters only interacted when necessary. I didn’t prattle on about the scenery or how the birds sounded. I had all my fuller stuff that I loved saved in another file because I “didn’t need it”.

Y’all, I knew this existed in TV shows but it didn’t hit me until this that everything is being whittled down. We are so starving for filler that we snap up anything. I unload all mine on Tumblr or keep it in a massive Google Docs. It SUCKS.

Honestly? Death to plot necessity. Revive filler. Revive unnecessary interactions. Revive just vibing with characters sometimes. I don’t want to just consume the plot and I don’t want to just create the plot either.

I pointed this out in a Discord server I'm in and thought Id share here:

Bob Iger announced that Disney is going to absorb Hulu, and Hulu will no longer exist next year. All shows will move to the Disney+ app.

Disney also announced they were going to remove shows and movies periodically from their streaming services.

I believe both of these moves are because of the Writers Strike.

Disney knows its going to lose the strike. There is too much public support. Specifically, the WGA is going to win writers getting more residuals from streaming.

So if Disney takes shows off of streaming, they dont have to pay the writers the residuals.

They are going to use excuses like "not enough funding for the server capacity" or "not enough views to warrent keeping the show". These are BULLSHIT. Its all greed. Its only GREED.

Pay attention to what happens in the following weeks.

And keep supporting the writers' strike.
