This is a weird thought I’m having so I wanted to ramble a bit but I don’t understand this weird double standards in fandom that I’ve noticed and it’s just. Idk.

JayVik is one of the most popular ships in the arcane fandom despite Jayce saying ‘he’s like a brother to me’

Meanwhile Genji says ‘you’re like a brother to me’ to Cassidy in one of their interactions and immediately everyone starts dunking on the ship saying it’s found family it’s this it’s that and now you can’t ship it. I think it mainly just comes down to ship popularity tbh like. It’s undeniable people like yeehan and JayVik a lot more than they like things like Spuriken and idk. MelJay? (only comparison I could think of)

I think with JayVik specifically it’s also that you get to see a lot more development between Jayce and Viktors relationship, so most fans would probably grow attached to it more despite what happens with Mel who we see a bit less of??

Idk about overwatch every ship just gets tablescraps I don’t even know where yeehan came from 😭 blizzard can’t even decide if it wants to push Pharmercy or Gency so I am so honestly over it at this point lmaoo

I have no issues with any of these ships do whatever you want I just think it’s interesting how people cherry pick depending on the ship/fandom ig?

(Obviously overwatch is not arcane and the fandoms/general fans/shipping cultures are suupppperrrr different I just happen to be in both and this is something I noticed while actively being apart of both fandoms)

I will never make this because it would be for an audience of one (me) but ever since reading "If we Were Villains" (story about serious drama kids in college who perform shakespeare and deal with a murder) I have been entertaining the thought of a crack fic crossover with High School Musical The Musical The Series where the staff decides they will no longer put on shakespeare after the tragic accident that happened at Thanksgiving, because Shakespeare plays would only increase the tension and drama. So they hire Ms. Jen who decides their spring play will actually be High School Musical (which exists in the 90s in this universe) and it ruins the vibe so much that everyone gives up on being dark and mysterious because they're universally pissed at Ms Jen for making them learn choreoraphed basketball dancing.

I haven’t seen anybody really talk about it but I like Bruce has some trans swag

Like, okay I know his name change was supposed to be because he wanted to distance himself from the band but let me have my fun.

Bruce changes his name and Clay and Branch immediately start calling him Bruce. John Dory is the only one who still calls him Spruce and even Clay has to correct him bc John has trouble coming to terms with the fact that his brothers have forged their own identities.

AND Bruce was set having one body type (absolutely ripped) because that’s what was expected of him, but after he leaves he finds a life and a body he’s happier in and doesn’t feel the need to change for anyone.

I’m sure I don’t need to dig into the metaphors, Bruce with trans swag!!!

Losing my mind over platonic/siblings neigh8ors. they lowkey dislike eachother but not HATE, like they rarely go out of their way to talk to eachother let alone anger. everything mean they do to eachother never sticks, their little rivalry/doublecrossing eachother for leadership? Vriska jokes about it on AlterniaBound (i think, it's been a while since i've seen it). Him making her slap herself because she's pissing him off? it's never even aknowledged, plus she says "Don't you dare!" like he's done it before maybe even more than once. He tells her AND I FUCKING QUOTE "D-> Because you are a little worse than me". he views her as an active threat but has no problem insulting her TO HER FACE. Vrisky 8usiness oh my god Vrisky 8usiness, she trusts him enough when she's on the brink of death even though that'd be pretty much a suicide on Alternia and he helps her even though he knows exactly what she does to other kids and probably has an idea of why someone would do this to her. she makes sure to revive him as a sprite just because, she doesn't owe him anything anymore i'm pretty sure.she's talking up Arquius for like a long time and not even to get something out of it like in Vrisky 8usiness or in their doublecrossing arc. they don't like or respect eachother at all. purest sibling dynamic if i've ever seen one. if only this fandom wasn't obsessed with romantic shipping and nothing else
