Him: so I need a guy to do x for my character’s backstory

Me: excellent yes let’s make a guy

Him: let’s put a Tragic Backstory in the soup

Me: of course of course! And let’s make him just. Nice. Just a cheerful, friendly guy who goes just a bit… absent when it comes up, cuz it’s been so long he doesn’t quite remember

Him: nicer if he thinks it’ll piss you off. Dead family?

Me: fridged family, for sure. Maybe someone’s pulling his strings telling him only they can bring them back

Him: he works for a witch it will be great. Let’s make him extradimensional

Me: the astral sea is very sexy

Him: mmm yes and lots can go wrong. We can fit so much sad into this man

Me: ………….. what if we put a lil Fucked Up in him

Him: tell me more

Me: what if we rewrite the rules of reality for some truly twisted alternate world shit that calls back to a previous world ending adventure long in the past, meaning he partially helped cause that apocalypse, and the true key to saving his family is held by the person who fucked them up

Him: So Much Sad! And they’re all still alive but time locked so they don’t even know what’s happened

Me: what if the person who fucked them up is his spouse from another dimension fleeing her crimes and she can NEVER actually save his family without losing her anchor in this world but she “returned” his family in their stasis mode and considers that done and keeps using him anyway

Him: what if his kids looked like my character

Me: what if your character looks like two different sets of his kids because your character has been aging and they haven’t

Him: you’re sick and twisted and i love you. He’d kill my character if he was told to, even if it would make him sad

Me: listen it would make him sad but he’s sad all the time anyway and has been sad for 200 years so that’s really not a motivating factor for him anymore

Us: *sigh* we love him so much

Him: …… so what disability are we giving him can he have my absence seizures

Steve Rogers Stans stay unite 💙

You know what, I'm so grateful for every single Steve Rogers lover on this site. The people who haven't let their opinion of him be influenced by bad writing, who have continued to love and support him even in the face of all the mischaracterisations and slander (worse than ever now thanks to EG), and who actively keep the true Steve Rogers alive and well in their fannish creations. Pretty much everybody loves Bucky (as they should!! Bucky is incredible and I love him just as much as I love Steve) but Steve doesn't get nearly enough love these days and it breaks my heart, and would no doubt break Bucky's heart too.

The real Steve Rogers is such a complex, wonderful, interesting, loveable and good character, who deserved so much better than he got. And I'm just really glad that despite the majority of people not being able to recognise that, there are still plenty of people out here who do know him, and who love him no matter what drivel Marvel tries to sell us about him. It's just very heartening to know he's still got all of us, so thank you all for that 💙
