While he was still the heir to Pyke, Dalton sailed with his uncle to plunder the pirate towns of the Basilisk Isles, slowly training in his prowess as a warrior and strategist. In his journey to Old Ghis, Dalton claimed a Valyrian steel longsword, which he named Nightfall, off a dead corsair. At the age of fifteen, he was named “The Red Kraken” when he avenged his uncle after witnessing his death. He emerged from the fight drenched in blood from a dozen wounds, but survived nonetheless. Later the next year, Dalton returned to the Iron Islands to claim the Seastone Chair after his father's death.

Capitan for the "Raven". His crew is conformed of his salt wives and childhood comrades, he gave them axes, bows and swords so they could raid with him. Dalton speaks the braavosi trade language and a little of bastard valyrian. Both languages were taught to him by his crewmates. When he wants to say something and make sure other people don't understand, he uses this foreign languages to confuse people.

Fourth-born child inside the House Vypern, Sabitha received an outstanding education in politics, geography, history, religion and economy due to her father's love for knowledge. She is as well educated as most men and can catch up with her husband's paperwork. She developed a love for writing in this time and she secretly writes poems for her female companions but will always denied it in public.

Before her marriage, Sabitha was simply a maiden with no interest in boys; instead she had a strong devotion to the Seven (as cover up). When House Vypren proposed the marriage to Forrest, his first impression was a pious lady who may not show interest in romance yet, but it could happen. He was a gallant and skilled knight, any girl's dream in every song. The man she's going to marry is a stranger, an acquaintance at best.

Forrest can openly take a mistress. It's an insult to her but she takes it, it means she isn't needed in his bed anymore. He fathers bastard girls and Sabitha says nothing. She hosts parties, makes connections and most importantly; makes allies. She charms every Lady and some Lords and becomes her own force of nature, so not matter how little power Forrest actually wants to grant her; Sabitha always has a support system.

Can I just say, I really appreciate how Critical Role plays the Devil trope straight. There's been this phenomena in a lot of modern media (I'm not going to mention specifics but I'm sure a few examples pop up in people's minds) where Hell and the Devil aren't scary or malevolent forces. Hell is portrayed as being basically the same as our world just "edgier", and the Devil is a pretty decent guy actually. Heaven are secretly the real bad guys!

But Critical Role doesn't do that. In Exandria, Asmodeus *feels* like the Devil. He's malevolent and manipulative and terrifyingly powerful and he hates you, personally. We never see that type of portrayal anymore! And it's amazing! And he still manages to be sympathetic and tragic without losing his edge!

And the "Good Gods" are portrayed as flawed without being secretly evil or something! Like, actual nuance? In my Heaven/Hell dichotomy? What!?

It's just such a breath of fresh air after so many "The Devil was right, actually" stories. So props to Matt and Brennan and the cast.

i’ve been working my way through a list of movies with trans men in them, and while i haven’t seen enough to really call this a pattern, i can’t help but notice that the movies i’ve watched so far portray trans men in a very particular way.

specifically, all of the trans guys are dicks.

the movies have decided that trans manhood is such a horrible, miserable existence that it leaves trans men as horrible and miserable people, and that because we’re so tortured, we must lash out and take it out on the people around us.

maybe the characters are mean because they’re dysphoric. maybe they’re trying to act the way they think real men act. maybe they’re trying to keep people away because they’ve been hurt before. maybe they’re being actively hurt by the countless transphobes in the movie and trying to protect themselves. the reason doesn’t actually matter — it changes from movie to movie and scene to scene. but no matter what the situation is, the movies want us to know that a trans man would react to that situation by being an asshole to everyone around him.

sure, the characters are somewhat humanized by the fact that we know why they’re so mean, but it’s clearly not meant to be something we see as justified. we’re supposed to pity them, if anything, not actually understand them.

and don’t get me wrong — i fully support trans men’s wrongs. i think we should be allowed to be angry and bitter and unpleasant. but i think we should be allowed to be happy too, and it really rubs me the wrong way that these trans men only seem to be allowed happiness when a cis person falls in love with them (or, in one case, after top surgery magically fixes them).

it sort of feels like the writers heard the word dysphoria and thought it must just be a synonym for hysteria.

one thing that drives me absolutely insane is that ive seen so many comments talking about how tvpjo!annabeth isnt their annabeth bc shes not tan and blonde but i dont see people complaining about literally anyone else!! there are SO FEW characters if at all that stay faithful to their book descriptions! luke isnt a blonde guy, percy doesnt have black hair and green eyes, grover doesnt have a rasta cap on, chirons horse end is black not white, echidna is NOTTT supposed to be a conventionally attractive older woman i could keep GOING.

at the end of the day these people are portraying these characters essences incredibly, and this tv series is by far one of the best adaptations ive ever seen of any popular book. to take that for granted and complain because of different hair and skin, especially singling out ONE twelve year old girl is so childish and frankly! disgusting.
