LFRP/FFXIV Friends
Hi! I'm Nihil, or Raven to some, and I'm looking for more people to RP or just chat with about FFXIV ocs, lore, and RP. I have a fair few ocs at this point, and most are listed below.
Feel free to message me! Important to note: I don't do ingame RP, as I prefer writing multi-paragraph (usually 2 to 3 paragraphs) messages and replies.
Idun - Budding Blood Mage
Sideblog: @idun-monnawesfv - NonWOL - He/They - Gay - Shipped (It's complicated)
A young Veena only in his 20s, they fled their master after enduring vicious attacks due to not perceiving themself as being male. Since, he has taken up work as a dancer, traveling around Eorzea before meeting a certain unscrupulous doctor in Ishgard. They are affectionately described as a "temperamental little spitfire".
Domitien Ormesang - Cursed Marksman
NonWOL - He/Him - Pan - Heartbroken and Recovering
He was not always a wanderer, in fact he was a weaver of some renown from Gridania before deciding to set out for Ishgard with his companion and lover. They suffered a terrible fate on that journey, however, leading to his lover's soul being consumed by the cursed weapon that he now carries. Now he searches for a way to break the curse and put his lover's soul to rest, by any means necessary.
White Masque - Cursecrafter
NonWOL - Any pronouns - Questioning - Single but Be Prepared
A being so old he has forgotten his birthname, and all that remains of who he was is the mask he takes his name from. His soul carries a stain, one which he routinely excises into cursed items. Feeling no attachment to these, they have been left behind wherever he has traveled, leading to some unfortunate souls stumbling upon one without realizing the price they demand.
Elenwe Celebrindal - Elven Knight
NonWOL - She/Her - Sapphic - Single
Hailing from a line of elves which were blessed long ago by the Pixies, she defends her home from Sin Eaters wherever they appear. She has lost many to the Light, yet she remains as brilliant as a star herself, determined to save any she can from being devoured or transformed. Many who have found themselves alone, without family nor friend after the Flood of Light or attacks by Sin Eaters, have found themselves welcomed by her.
Erravi goe Corvus - Raven Run Astray
NonWOL - He/Him - Gay - Single and Stressed
A former Imperial assassin, titled Censor, Avi was loyal to the empire until he became too much of a threat to leave alive. Every assassin of his order has been executed in secret after a certain number of years in service, and this was his fate too. Though he does not believe in gods, he thought it a miracle when he was taken in by a nobleman who happened upon him on death's door. As fate would have it, the man was a relative of the Lady of Haukke Manor, and Erravi escaped with quite a few new scars after his experience.
Micans Lilius - Naturalborn Lightwarden
WOL - He/Him - Gay - Shipped (Soulmates Beyond Time)
Micans was born in Garlean territory, the youngest of four children. His mother passed away shortly after his birth, something his father blamed him for until his dying day. Before that though, it was 12 years after Micans' birth that his father almost killed him, leaving him with a scar from the gunshot. His siblings bid him to run, and so he did, eventually making his way to Eorzea and starting his journey as the Warrior of Light. At times he believes Hydaelyn made the right choice, as the very Crystal of Light She bestowed upon him was furthering his light poisoning.

as a secret fan of the trope “immortal being imprints on family but is initially 1 or more generations off from their actual Destined Romance in it, leading to tragic problems”, and an even bigger fan of relationships (romantic or otherwise) which are wildly awkward for everyone except the happy couple, I think it’d be great, actually, if:
Idril and Tuor decide to have another child at some point, really any time in the Second Age or later (just one, though—living in Aman is already kinda straining Tuor’s fëa; he’s fine, but parenting a half-elf is…a lot)
The Choice of Peredhil is innate, actually, though only for one generation out unless complicated by Maia blood. Their daughter (Name TBD) chooses to be an Elf with no hesitation—save 1 Man kept alive by dint of Ulmo being clingy a loyal friend and patron, everyone she knows are Elves, or Ainur! Why would she want to leave her family, friends and home?
Shortly after Maeglin gets out of Mandos (which takes longer than anyone in the family but the Fëanorians), they meet in circumstances wherein neither realizes who the other is, familially speaking, and nor does either introduce themselves properly
They almost just straight-up elope, but NameTBD Idriliel decides at the last moment that she really would like to introduce him to her parents first, and she to be introduced to his. Possibly all at once?
(Maeglin either genuinely thinks she knows who he is or by some contrivance fails to tell her between the proposal of this meeting and the meeting itself. Either way, he fully intends to introduce himself fully to her parents, and he has no intention of marrying this maiden whom he loves without her knowing his identity and dark first life.)
Absolutely nobody, including Maeglin, is adequately forewarned
Chaos ensues

Turgon watched as Elenwe danced, the Lords gladly taking turns keeping their Queen safely on her feet as she laughed moving to the music. He smiled warmly seeing her joy and that she was truly recovering from the crossing. It had been hard and too close when she and Idril fell through the ice yet seeing the two of them dancing and laughing warmed him more than even miruvor could.
Soft movement from his arms drew his attention back to the child he held, his son. He leaned down a bit and rubbed their noses against each other to hear him giggle then shifted him so he could look around too. Seeing Elenwe he gave an excited shriek and held out a hand for her.
"Do you want amme, Linte?" Turgon asked playfully, already moving towards Elenwe.
Linte giggled, the sound bringing smiles to everyone's faces, and when Elenwe was within range he gave another shriek reaching for her again. Turgon handed their son to his wife and slipped an arm around her waist, leaning down to kiss her cheek.
"Awake again? Well darling you shall have to dance with me and your atya." Elenwe spoke to Linte and Turgon laughed hearing her statement.
"Dance with the two of you, hmm? All right then." He easily swept her into a twirl, keeping it slow enough Linte didn't get sick. She laughed again, the sound somehow brighter as she tucked herself closer to him. Lintestel babbled happily while waving his arms. Around them the Lords and others grinned and resumed dancing as well while above them the stars started appearing amid the twilight sky.

Hi, I was just wondering if you have any Findis and/or Lalwen headcanons if you'd like to share :)?
Ooh good question. Honestly I kind of feel bad because I don’t really think about these two all that much? Like I have a few thoughts but not many. I'd have more thoughts if Jirt had done more with their characters! But, anyway...
Findis interests me as an eldest royal daughter in a patriarchal society that practices male primogeniture. I'm sure it was clear to her pretty much all her life that her father favoured Feanor, but she may have been able to justify that as being down to his mother's death. But after Fingolfin was born -- how long did it take for her to realise that they would never be truly equals? This unfairness is why I headcanon her as favouring the vanyarin side of her heritage -- she turns to piety and religion as an escape. Perhaps the vanyar have some sort of priestess system that allows her to gain some power there. For some reason, I imagine Findis' religious duties as similar to a Vestal Virgin (though minus the burials....) maybe she's especially devoted to Este?
Despite everything, she never stopped loving her parents and wanting their approval and to do right by them, which is why she stays with her mother during the flight of the Noldor. I think there's a part of her that never forgives her siblings for (in her eyes) "abandoning" Indis.
Lalwen... unfortunately I have more thoughts about my lady's maid oc for her than I do for Lalwen herself :( sorry girlie
I do think it’s interesting that Fingolfin and Lalwen are canonically close, I like that. I imagine she was a comfort to him during the unrest of the Noldor (I imagine they become close as adults when Feanor was exiled) and crossing the Ice. Was she aware of how much Nolo needed her and did that ever become a burden on her? Quite possibly, and I'm not sure who she would have gone to in order to relieve that. I do think that she and Aredhel could have been close, and probably Elenwe too - maybe she was one of the people to be most affected by Elenwe's death. I think Lalwen was also a fighter, and died fighting in the fall of Hithlum in the Nirnaeth.
Since I mentioned canon patriarchy, maybe part of Lalwen's motivation for leaving Aman was a hope that Beleriand would be more egalitarian.
I've noticed that lesbian Lalwen hcs are pretty common and I think I agree! I think she had a fair few lovers and some long-term girlfriends in Beleriand, but had no serious romantic relationships. Her major love was her maid Morniel, but she was aware that Morniel did not reciprocate, so she never acted on it.
You didn't ask about her, but after being a Faniel denialist for the longest time, I might now be a Faniel truther after reading this headcanon of her being born after Finwe followed Feanor into exile and due to mutual parental stubbornness, never meeting her father. That's sooooo juicy I love it.

Writing Year Wrapped (2023)
Thank you for the tag, @eilinelsghost!
3 Favorite Fics You've Written This Year
Beloved, Forsaken, Redeemed, my short Celegorm cycle. I am very pleased with each of the little bites that make up the whole, for imagery, characterization, and narrative arc. You love him, you hate him, you pity him, and you root for him in the end, even having seen him at his worst.
The paired fics In This, No Consolation and What Will Console You, in which Maedhros and Maglor find parenting challenging, first at Formenos in Nerdanel's absence, and then in caring for Elrond and Elros. These hurt, but they also comfort.
Examined Lives, in which Erestor and Pengolodh fall in love after Sailing and have to negotiate their respective understandings of history and truth. It's a very odd ship, but it works. I am quite fond of my Loremasters in Love.
And yes, it's cheating to slide in a fourth, but I have to mention my 2023 Tolkien Drabbles series, in which I fell in love with fixed-length stories and the challenge of fitting a whole world into 100 words. So much fun!!
3 Fics That Stretched You the Most
Tender Morsels. This is the first thing I've shared with a rating above T, but if you're going to do it, you may as well do it in style, right? Written for Silm Smut Week, it features Fingon/Maedhros figuring themselves out via cannibalism and sexy mutilation and carries the tag Is it really monsterfucking if it's Maedhros? It's oddly romantic, for all that. Thanks to @polutrope for convincing me to share it.
When All Other Lights Go Out. 5,336 words!! Let me repeat: 5,336 words! I usually hover between 400 and 1,000, so this was a big stretch. Written for TRSB, to accompany @grundyscribbling's gorgeous Feanorian nightlight, it's an epic (for me) look at love through the generations, in all its varieties and with all its consequences.
By Love Annealed. I don't write very many OCs, and this piece was both largely OC-focused AND about some tricky stuff. But I ended up loving my new friend Sorokendë and her relationship with Celebrimbor, in this remix of ultramarine by @welcomingdisaster.
3 Favorite Lines You've Written (loosely interpreting "lines")
For heartbreak, Maedhros and Maglor in Feanorians in Seventeen Kisses.
Maedhros rests his chin on Maglor’s head, watching the ocean, shivering and burning all at once. He murmurs something incomprehensible – it might be I’m sorry – and sighs. The sea surges, hungrily. Maglor doesn’t turn when the heat at his back changes. If he holds very still, he can almost keep feeling the last brush of his brother’s lips on his hair.
For angst, Fingolfin and Maglor in True North.
The banners ripple in the chill breeze off the lake as they stand toe to toe, second son and second son, frowning. They are anchorless, both of them, flung into the spinning skies with no fixed points to reach for, no greater stars to burn behind.
And for romance, the Glorthelion wedding from In Answering, An Answer Find.
Glorfindel cries out the praise he could not muster in the welter of the healing tent. He hears the fierce, bright music of Ecthelion’s reply. The bond sparks as their palms touch. Then they are burning, singing with it, leaping forward together, diving into the light.
3 Characters You Enjoyed Writing (that surprised you)
Turgon. This was my Year of Being Kinder to Turgon, after last year's portrayal of him as a history-whitewashing, Pengolodh-abusing kinslayer (ouch!). But this year I wrote him lovingly with Fingolfin in From the Heights, Such Light and Air, tenderly with Aredhel in None Shall Mark Thy Going, loving and furious with Fingon in A Bond That Shines and Burns, and being consoled by Elenwe in Mandos in Reckoning. Turgon! Multidimensional! Who knew?
Curufin. He was also an unexpected delight to explore, whether having a hard time letting go of Feanor in Borne Away Like Smoke, or having a hard time coming back to life in A Sea Change. I became very fond of the possibilities of him, actually.
Legolas' Mother. She is my first substantive OC, and I have had SUCH fun building her out. I first wrote her in A Mighty Shot in the Darkness, which is partly her love story with Thranduil and partly the story of Legolas drawing on her teaching to kill the Fell Beast. And she popped up again in These Soft Threads That Bind Us, newly home from Dagorlad and adjusting to life with only one arm and a curious child. She has a guest appearance in one of my seasonal exchange fics, too, which will be up at the end of this month (and which explains why I haven't named her).
3 Unexpected Inspirations
The Canadian government's vivid, lyrical description of the varieties of sea ice, which I used as a framing device for Ice Glossary (12 views of the crossing of the Helcaraxe, each linked to a type of ice).
Lawrence Oates' quietly suicidal farewell to his colleagues on the Scott Antarctic expedition, which I used along with the prompt "desperate valor" to drive I May Be Some Time, in which Maedhros departs to parley with Morgoth.
The poignant last line of Vincent Van Gogh's final, unfinished letter to his brother Theo, which along with @z-h-i-e's gorgeous painting Feanor's Art Therapy inspired Half-Foundered, in which Feanor is therapy-resistant, and expressing his inner struggles through art does not help.
3 WIPs You're Excited About in the Upcoming Year
Untitled Anaire/Fingolfin, full of rage and regret and maybe eventually reconciliation. It's almost done; I'll drop it on some dark day as winter lingers for maximum hurt.
The Sifted Light: Evranin smuggles Elwing and the Silmaril out of Doriath. Tolkien women, yay!
The Blue Line Between Sky and Water: a three-chapter Voronwe piece which is giving me fits but will be out there eventually. Spoiler: he drowns, three times.
3 People Tagged to Share Theirs
Tagging with zero pressure: @melestasflight @cuarthol @tathrin

Not-Yet Written Fics
I was tagged by @fishing4stars, thank you <3
I restricted the ideas to my Canon Universe/the related AU, just to keep some sort of theme going. All of them have at least a sheet of notes attached, or a short scene written (otherwise the chance of me just never working on them is very high).
Lost Wives Club - The story of all the left behind (and reborn) wives and girlfriends in Valinor. Also, an excuse to write something canon-adjacent for Anaire/Nerdanel. They're the main pairing in this one.
Three truths - Finrod gets reembodied, he and Amarie get back together, and at some point, they realize that they are both in love with Edrahil (who has also been reborn). It does continue further, with each of them dealing with some sort of problem (Amarie with her research, Finrod with his family, Edrahil with his future).
The Loves of Finrod Felagund - Finrod's sexual awakening (complete with the realization that he's bi), also featuring Finrod/Maglor.
Finarfin and Eärwen getting together - what it says on the tin, Finarfin/Eärwen first meeting (meet cute? it's close I think), complete with annoying family (Eärwen), lots of blushing (Finarfin) and misunderstandings (both cultural and in general). This one was originally started for a SWG challenge (the previous two as well, actually)
Amarie and Elenwe have a talk about motherhood and being female (and infertility) - These two deserve to be friends in the first age, while everyone they love dies tragically in ME. The basic premise for this is Elenwe struggling with the way her family treats her after she is reborn, the fact that she feels she has abandoned Idril, and a lot more.
Caranthir and his wife - This will probably be more of a collection of one-shots, and an excuse for me to fangirl about my OC Gwaewiel. Is it a bit morbid that the most structured Idea I have actually concerns her funeral? Others concern the story of them getting together, and a few snippets of life in ME (Gwae is a Vanya, but assimilates into Sindarin culture quickly, mostly for the freedom it gives her)
Turno and Elenwe get married - A sequel to Beautiful like Starlight, the story of a chaotic wedding, lots of siblings telling embarrassing stories, Elenwe hating Noldorin fashion and Anaire, Eärwen and Indis being awesome.
Finwean Family Reunion (the one where Maedhros realizes Fingon is hot) - I'll just dump my outline here, warnings, it's a bit long: Feanor wants to introduce little Curufin to the family (or rather, his father), Maedhros obviously has to look after him while also being tasked with making sure the almost-adult Celegorm doesn‘t do too much shit, Maglor gets to enchant everyone with his music skills, Caranthir and Nerdanel have stayed home. They‘re greeted by Fingon, who Maedhros takes a second to recognize because he hit a growth spurt since their last meeting more than 20 years ago, and also got a lot more jacked since (He‘s also an adult now, and Meadhros is very much attracted to him. He‘ll be in denial for a few more years and hate himself over it.) Turgon is a weird kid, Finrod charms everyone (even Feanor, but he‘ll never admit that)Lalwen is everyone's cool aunt (Celegrom loves her) and Feanor almost picks a fight with Indis, and starts a real one with Fingolfin, where Findis has to save them from escalating, as usual.
The Prince of Alqualonde - More OC things, this time Alparáto, Eärwen's oldest brother, and his boyfriend.
Arrival in Nevrast - Turgon's followers after the Helcaraxe, mostly Glorfindel and a bunch of Sindar OCs (and Ecthelion), trying to work out life in Nevrast and how to communicate with each other. Ultimately supposed to turn into Glorthelion, but knowing them, it'll probably take until Gondolin for that to happen.
The ever-expanding Rivendell Polycule - Mostly an excuse to write Glorfindel/Gildor, Erestor and Glorfindel get to navigate a poly relationship in the third age. Ever-expanding because I plan to throw some Elrond/Erestor in as well.

I demand fun facts about whatever oc is on the brain lately this is a threat
hello hi i feel adequately threatened thank you
honestly i have been so burnt out on my wips lately that none of my usual ocs are on the brain?? which kinda sucks but hopefully once i finish student teaching and my brain reloads i can go back to them and start with fresh enthusiasm
so the biggest oc on the brain rn is elenwe who is my great old one warlock for adri's elder scrolls dnd campaign! she's basically like florence from awitc with even more questionable morals dialled all the way up to 100. i love my questionable researcher characters and over ambitious sciencey pepole who will go too far for knowledge
she's getting slowly corrupted and following into "madness" as a result of her warlock pact and i am obsessed with her

elves of arda ֎ vanyar ֎ headcanon disclaimer
Elenwë was an elf of the Minyar who woke upon the shores of Cuiviénen. Upon first seeing her soul-sibling, Elenwë’s sister Calima perceived him as a nér, and for many cycles of the stars Elenwë let this aspect of his fëa lie unexamined. Thus it was that he acted as Calima’s brother throughout the Great Journey to Aman, always at a slight remove from himself, unknowing what it was that left his spirit unquiet. While the Quendi yet dwelt upon the starlit shores, Calima fell in love with the Nelyarin elf Terenwë. He was a wandering soul from the moment of his Awakening, preferring his own company and that of the forest to those of his fellow elves. But Calima was kind and good and fair, and Terenwë was moved by her love to wed her. Yet Terenwë and Elenwë disliked one another, competing for Calima’s affection and attention, and thus even in the earliest days of her marriage Calima was unhappy. They quarreled over the most trivial things, including the similarity of their names, and to appease them both Calima renamed her brother Elemmírë and her husband Terenlaimo, the star-jewel and the slender shadow. Then came the Great Hunter Arômêz, and while all the Minyar loved him, Terenlaimo distrusted him. When it came time for Elemmírë and Calima to embark upon the Great Journey to Aman, Terenlaimo refused to accompany his wife, and in great sorrow Calima chose to follow the her kindred rather than her beloved. But before long Terenlaimo repented of his pride and hurried after his wife, reuniting with her just before the Minyar were to cross the Sundering Sea. Calima was overjoyed to see her husband once more, and in their passion and gladness they conceived a child, though the little spark of fëa within her was not yet bright enough to detect when on the morrow Calima purposed to join the rest of the Minyar upon Tol Eressëa and embark upon the final voyage to Aman. At the prospect of leaving the starlit lands he loved forever, Terenlaimo balked once more, for in his heart he had proudly taken the moniker of the Avari, and had hoped his reappearance would sway Calima to remain with him: but alas, her mind was set, and the couple parted once more in great bitterness and sorrow. It was not until the Isle had begun its slow movement across the Sea that Calima realized she was with child, and her grief at her separation from her husband and her babe’s father grew only deeper. Soon whispers began to spread of Calima’s misfortune, and she earned the epessë Hóndil, shadow-lover, for the faithless husband she left behind. Elemmírë was determined not to let his sister sink into her despair, and vowed to support Calima through every trial. In gratitude, Calima promised to name her child after her brother: and so it was that first of all the Eldar in Aman, Calima brought forth new life into Valinórë, and named her daughter Elenwë after Elemmírë’s first essë at Cuiviénen. Calima, Elemmírë, and little Elenwë accompanied Alcariniel to the holy city of Valmar, settling into their new home as an unconventional family. Elemmírë entered the service of Varda Elentári, singing praises to the Queen of the Valar and becoming the greatest minstrel among the Vanyar. Calima raised Elenwë to be kind and wise, and though she never knew her father and had no ataressë, Elenwë was a joyful child and grew into a contented adult. As the Eldar of Aman grew in number and in skill, Elemmírë won great renown for his musical talent, attracting even the attention of the Noldor. Findis, daughter of King Finwë and his Vanyarin bride Indis Vanima, befriended Elemmírë while visiting her grandmother Alcariniel upon Taniquetil, and when her nephew Makalaurë showed great musical talent in his youth she introduced him to Elemmírë in hopes of finding him a good tutor. Though Makalaurë’s father Fëanáro was at first reluctant to allow a Vanya teach his son, Makalaurë’s enthusiasm won him over, and he agreed upon the condition that Elemmírë move to Tirion to teach him. Elemmírë nearly refused, unwilling to abandon Calima, but centuries had passed since Elenwë’s birth and Calima encouraged her brother to find his own life. Findis, who had been living among her mother’s people, offered to move back to the city of her birth so Elemmírë might have a companion, and in the end an arrangement was reached that suited everyone. Findis and Elemmírë removed to Tirion together, though they visited Valmar frequently and often took Makalaurë with them, where he met and was briefly infatuated with Elenwë. As Elemmírë tutored young Makalaurë and became better acquainted with the House of Finwë, he began to realize there was a discordant chord within the Song of his fëa. At long last Elemmírë discovered that they were, in fact, a nís who had awoken in a hröa that Ilúvatar most commonly granted to néri, and she hesitantly shared this revelation with Findis her friend. Findis supported her wholeheartedly and urged her to seek the counsel of Varda to guide her next steps, and though the Queen of Stars did not fully understand the change in her servant’s heart, she accepted her nonetheless and allowed Elemmírë to transition from nér to nís. Calima was glad to at last know her sister for who she truly was, and remarked that she had chosen wisely in naming her daughter after Elemmírë, for “Elenwë” had always been the name of a nís, even when it had not been obvious. Soon Elemmírë realized something else profound about her fëa: she was in love with her dearest friend. Though two níssi were not permitted by the laws of the Valar nor the customs of the Eldar to wed, the confusion around Elemmírë’s true identity allowed for a loophole wide enough for Findis and Elemmírë to join in marriage with the blessing of Manwë and Varda, and none spoke against their love. Within only a matter of years, Elemmírë and Findis were blessed with a child: Laurefindil Alcarinquë, named like his mother for a shining star. Elenwë doted on her younger cousin, and through him grew close to the House of Finwë, where she met Turukáno Ñolofinwion, a princely young nér who in time would become her husband and Laurefindil’s liege. When the Two Trees were killed and Valinórë fell into Darkness, Findis and Elemmírë clung to one another in their grief. To their great sorrow, Laurefindil and Elenwë both chose to depart with the Noldor into exile, but Findis remained in Aman with her mother and their Vanyarin kin. Elemmírë was especially distraught by the loss of the Trees, and wrote a haunting lament in their honor: the Aldudénië, most famous of all her songs.

Who would fear the cold?
“Uncle!” Finduilas screeched in delight, excitedly leaping on the fresh, soft snow and sinking into it. “Come on, uncle! You’re missing all the fun!”
It’d been some time since Finrod had wanted to welcome the cold, though.
Laeril shifted, looking to him with a raised eyebrow, expectant. Finrod tried to smile to her, a reassurance of some kind that he was going to follow, but by the way she averted her gaze, it must’ve have come out as a grimace. It wasn’t intentional, and yet, he couldn’t avoid burying himself more in his cloak and being a little sour and reluctant. No one could even call it a true day of winter, and he was covered in furs, the cold still seeping in for some cursed reason.
The cold always seeped in, though. Regardless of how many blankets he used, of how high the fire in the hearth was burning, of the sheer amount people in his halls, Nargothrond was always chilly. The wind howled on its halls, an animalistic thing that made Finduilas fear the stories of beasts. Older people feared something else, but they kept quiet about their fears. Finrod wished it could be solved, the lack of heat in his city-fortress, but, between this and having enough to eat during the dark months, he preferred solving the food crisis.
“Uncle!” Finduilas protested, digging her hands into the snow and trying to hurl at it them. It missed by a few feet, but Laeril still shook her head in disapproval.
“I’m coming!” Finrod shouted after her, taking a few hesitant steps.
He knew the ground underneath the cover of snow was solid earth, but it was impossible to avoid testing it first, stepping and trying to see if it’d crumble beneath his feet. Finduilas ran around, free of the same nervousness, of the same fear, but Finrod kept his gaze on her. He’d seen it happen too many times – children getting away from their parents for just a moment, walking on a place where the ice was thinner and falling into the cold death. It was an irrational thing to fear here, and yet he feared. He couldn’t escape from it.
“If she’s too much trouble, bring her to me again, will you?” Laeril’s voice was soft and quiet, and it took him a moment to realize she was speaking to him.
“She’s never too much trouble,” Finrod argued, defensive.
Laeril sighed, throwing a last look to where Finduilas was making another snowball, uncaring of their talk. “Still, if you have trouble, bring her back to me. And don’t let her out in this weather for too long, it’s not good for her.”
“I know.” He replied halfheartedly. Who would leave a child out like this?
Finrod walked towards his niece, feeling the bite of the chilly wind and the way his feet sunk in the snow. He tried to not think of the Grinding Ice, but it was hard to avoid, especially on this pale word. Everything reminded him of it. For a moment, he walked shoulder to shoulder with Turucáno, trying to convince him to keep walking after Elenwë’s death. After Elenwë sunk into the ice like so many others. He blinked, and it was over, but the cold was still there.
Finduilas laughed, hurling another snowball at him. It missed by way less this time, and Finrod plastered a smile despite how impossible it seemed, trying to mimic her excited and light laughter. She didn’t know a thing about crossing the Helcaraxë and hardly deserved his fool mood about the weather and the past.

#findis #elenwe #amarie #they have less than one line dedicated to them each but I love them with all my heart 💞💞
hey if you have headcanons about these three i'd love to hear about them 👀 (if not then still great choice of characters!)
Hiii! I do have a few headcanons, actually! I tried to keep as tidy & chronological as possible, but 😅 under a cut bc its LONG
Findis:
One of her names is Alcayantë, which means Shining bridge (bridge as in union, between finwe & indis)
I hc her as being transfemme (I read a fic about it and it just stuck, lmaoo)
She was always a restless child, and when it came to choosing a craft it took her ages, because she just couldn't settle for one.
She ended up studying Elven history, and specialising in the development of languages since Cuiviénen.
She was quite skilled with the bow too, but it was never as appealing as learning why words are the way they are
She actually gets along rather well with Fëanor, who actually liked hearing her ramble about quenya and telerin’s gramatical differences, and who in turn rambled to her about jewel making
When Fingolfin & Fëanor started jumping at eachother’s throats every two seconds, she left for Valmar not because she was a coward, but because she feared having to choose a side
When the finwions left, she ruled as Queen of the Noldor until Finarfin left, and when he came back she gave him the crown without a second thought
She went to Beleriand at the WoW & and killed a Balrog (!!!!) during a badass moment™
Everyone who hears the story is actually terrified of sweet little calm findis afterwards
She loved all her nephews and nieces dearly, and claimed that she wanted to kill Sauron with her own hands after killing Celebrimbor & Finrod
(ngl, I think she could've, if she'd tried)
If we go with the shippy route, I've made her an OC wife who is a half-Vanya, Half-Teler and is named Cálemírë (bright jewel/jewel of light); they met in Valmar and bonded over being half-Vanya yet more connected to that part of their heritage
[there's also more hcs about them & being Glorfindel’s mothers, so lmk if you want to hear about those too!]
Elenwë:
She was a songstress, and learnt under Elemmírë themself. She was quite powerful, actually, and specialised in songs of healing
She met Turgon at a festival in Tirion were she sang, and he was absolutely in-love with her from day one; and started going to & making more parties to see if he could find her again.
She, on the other hand, attended every party in Tirion to see if he met that beautiful prince again
It took them a WHILE to finally gather up the courage to go ‘hey I like you’ and in the end it was Elenwë who did it, dedicating him a very beautiful & romantic song at a party
They got married [read: eloped] in the countryside, and came back a few months later with a baby
This was, sadly, a few years before the flight of the Noldor, so idril lost her mother when she was like ~10/12 human years
Elenwë was reborn a few years after Nargothrond fell, because she didn't have many things to heal from in Mandos.
She went to Beleriand during the WoW & served as a healer with her songs
& met her grandson Eärendil & was just like "awwwwww you're the sweetest thing" and, every once in a while, when Eärendil is allowed to get off the Vingilot, they always meet to have some nice grandma-granchild bonding time
Amarie:
I really have no hc’s about her, sorry! I should think about her more, tbh,,,,
But as a bonus, have Faniel! [Discarded daughter of Finwë, here, a daughter of Finwë who was simply left out of the books:
She was born a few years before Celegorm & Turgon & co., thus being the youngest of Finwë’s children
She suffered from an illness never seen before in elves which had her in so much pain that she couldn't really walk & uses a wheelchair Fëanor designed for her
She was vv close with Fëanor
She was named Faniel [Cloud daughter/White daughter] for her hair, which was a very pale shade of vanyar-gold
She, like findis, studied history & politics, but specialised more in politics, and served as an advisor to Finarfin when he came back
She was closer with the Arafinweans, and took Celebrían under her wing when she sailed in the third age.
When elrond sailed, he tried to heal her with his maiarin power, but it was fruitless.
She told him that, no matter what, this had been her life for so long, that she couldn't imagine living any other way
I just read this fic and said ”this is it, this is who I want faniel to be”:

Hey! It's your Tolkien Secret Santa! First, I would like to wish you a happy holiday season! I hope things are going well on your end! And second, I would like to ask if you have any favorite characters within the Imladris or Mirkwood elves or any headcanons about them?
Hello! I've been miserably ill for nearly two weeks but I seem to be on the upswing, hallelujah! That all said, I am prepped and primmed for a happy season full of writing - mine and others's!
As for headcanons, I could probably write volumes (and in some cases have, though they're not published) but you don't need that haha
For Imladris (and honestly, fully, completely feel free to ignore any HC that touched on a thing you haven't read before and thus don't immediately understand, they're all backstory stuff any way):
Elrond! I love Elrond...book Elrond though, not Agent Elrond
and of course I am a massive Glorfindel fan forever and always, and it's not so much a headcanon as I love anything that plays with the description of him as "fearless and full of joy". Also, I am fully on the reincarnate-returned Glorfindel train, which is neither a headcanon nor a minority opinion. Oh and, if you're familiar with the Silmarillion at all (if not, ignore this, it's only as relevent as you wish it to be): he's Elenwe's cousin and he was quite young when he came to Middle-Earth the first time. Also, is eternal queerplatonic BFFs with Ecthelion.
Arwen, Elrohir and Elladan are of course potentially very interesting characters, for as little as we get to dive into them. Other than my headcanon that they all love their dad very much, I'm pretty undecided on most facts about them though!
like many people, I'm fond of little old Erestor, who I have a bevvy of weird headcanons form which you are completely invited to ignore BUT: he's half-Laiquence (Nandor) and was born in the early 1st age; he lived in Nargothrond until it's fall; he was good friends with Celebrimbor, Finduilas and Gil-Galad; he's not a total grump and has a healthy sense of humour and the absurd; he was a scribe for many years before he became a scout and then a quartermaster; he is a complete nerd but in the 'poke the slime to see if it moves' way not 'ew, nature' way; he's not the archivist, though certainly he likes libraries plenty
Mirkwood's a little different, in that while I very much love Legolas and Thranduil, I'm more interested I think in like, exploring the culture of Mirkwood generally? But if you want to stick to character pieces
Thranduil's a good and loving father. and once again, while I LOVE much about movie Thranduil's physicality and demeanor, I prefer "long will I tarry ere I begin this war for gold" Thranduil to the alternative. Also no anti-Silvan racism, because...well, no.
Legolas is funny! He's happy! This isn't even HC it's just like, what's in the text I just wish it got emphasised more often I think. Half-Silvan through his mother maybe? My opinions on who the Elven Queen is vary wildly between moods
on that note, my HCs about the Elven Queen are so wildly divergent that if you wanna plug your beloved OC in there and go wild, I wholly support you
from the movies, I think Tauriel had a lot of potential, but since I don't like the movie plotline for Thranduil at all anything about that is dicey, if you like her and wanna use her though, I'm all for it! Bring on the Silvans I say!
anyhow, take what works for you and chuck the rest, so long as I'm not getting meaner than book!canon elves I'm a pretty happy camper! (and please, for my sanity don't reference that godawful dinner scene from the Hobbit -- as if Elrond would take such poor care of guests!)
#i am pretty much always either highly opinionated#or completely haven't made up my mind#very little middle ground lol#tss 2021#middle earth headcanons

The Hakuouki fandom tag game !
Thank you to @shenanigumi to create this game and big hug and thanks to @queen-mizera to tag me :3
How and when you got into this glorious fandom:
Two years ago and I ALWAYS remembered it because it was the time when I sold my soul to this fandom. I discovered it by Loki. I explain. I searched some tumblr post about my sweet and marvelous Loki (Marvel you know. Tom Hiddleston you know. *deep deep breathe* I’m not in love.) and I found some posts of Loki Laevatein (he is ginger ! My weakness we’ll be always redhead !). So I watched Kamigami no Asobi and I liked it. So I rediscovered anime and mostly...I discorvered Hakuouki. And now two years after I’m completely love addict to Bakumatsu, my spiritual husband is Sakamoto Ryôma, I’ve got a pearl bracelet with Shinsengumi’s colors, I’ve met so much lovely people (Ritsu, @impracticaldemon, @queen-mizera...), I practice kendo, I imagine AU!Hakuouki e v e r y t i m e...and my dissertation to finalize my 5th year of History University is about the beginning of the relationship between Japan and France (1862 - 1867). Okay it was long but you see : THIS FANDOM IS TOTALLY RUNNING MY LIFE AND I NEVER REGRET IT !
Aaaaand my new goal is pushed my friends to join me in this glorious fandom (luv you @kazama-hime and @laerelei-in-the-tardis)( @aramis-du-tardis and @atoutscoeur you will be the next) because this is too fabulous to be ignored.
Favorite character in terms of development:
If I must choose...My favorite character’s development is...Ryunosuke ! I liked him when I discovered Reimeiroku and moreover after I read Tokio Fujita’s translations (please please translate this game !) and in Hakumyu Reimeiroku. I can explain but I love how he has no life purpose and tries to find a life goal at the end of the game. I just love his evolution and his complexity through the differents routes (and his love story with Kosuzu is too cute). I love his relationship with Serizawa, his drawing passion, his behaviour, his past...This boy need more hug and love in his life !
The character you’d get along with most irl:
Sakamoto Ryôma. I don’t really know. I think it would be baka trio (no kidding !) because they’re very friendly and outgoing and a lot of my friends are like this. And if I was in Chizuru’s situation (or Ryu’s situation) I completely get closer with them because I would feel reassured with them (eeeeh as possible as can be with strong and terrifying samurais. Yes ! They’re terrifying ! I N E V E R want to be their ennemy or their target !). I could totally get along with Chizuru and Sen. Sen who is like one of my big close friend ahaha (she is pretty badass as our marvelous Onihime). But also I think I could get along with Yamazaki Susumu. Just because he reminds me my best friend and my cousin who have the same behaviour as him. So in a nutshell : a lots ?
The character you are most like:
Heisuke ! But also Chizuru. I mean I’m just like Heisuke who is so outgoing, lively, wanted everybody smiling and I’m also confused about what is the best thing to do during troubled times like Heisuke about Shinsengumi and Itou/Bakufu or Sonno Joui. And I’m most like Chizuru because...she is the perfect Hufflepuff in the world and I’m Hufflepuff with all my heart and my soul ? I don’t know. She is sweet, openminded, strong, thoughtful, clumsy and shy but also lively, curious, angry, sad, feared of being abandonned...and moreover tender, teasing, spontaneous, fair and loyal...I can totally relate her !
(and I’m Kotsune just because @kazama-hime is the Shinpachi of my life. And I’m also her Heisuke because we are always the ones who eat a lot (like Shinpatsuan and Sunshine) during lunchtime. We finished all seafood platter during New Year’s Eve XD)
Least favorite character:
This is REALLY hard because I don’t hate any character (even Itou and Kodo. Yup). It’s just sometimes I think some caracters are not well developped while they have so much potential (and usually they’re all well developped but not enough for me. I need moooooore about them). I think my least favorite character is Nimii. Just because I’m very indifferent about him. I don’t hate him or despise him. I write about him (when I need it in my fic and my plot) but I’m not interested by him.
Personal favorite husband:
Sakamoto Ryôma. NOW I CAN SAY IT ! AHAHAHAHAHHA ! BLESS YOU HAKUOUKI SHINKAI ! NOW I CAN BANG AND MARRY MY FAVORITE BAKUMATSU AND HISTORICAL CHARACTER <33333 ! Okay but without Shinkai my personal favorite husband is Harada Sanosuke.
I mean...
Why
are you
SO PERFECT ?!
I hate him to ruine my life and my ovaries ! Moreover now Higashi Keisuke (fucking gorgeous photoshop man) plays him in Hakumyu. Honestly THE only man who can me forget Sano...is Sakamoto Ryôma (my sun my stars...my everything *deep deep breathe*).
Favorite route:
Sakamoto Ryôma (télémagouilles running gag). More seriously I’ve not finish the game (I am always on Harada route ohhoho. I’m too slow) so it’s really hard to choose. Maybe Okita’s route. Or Harada. When I’ll play all the game I’ll know. (butSakamoto’sroutealwaysbethebest)
Who you wish had a route:
S H I R A N U I ! I think you don’t undersand dear Hakuouki’s creators why I need this route. He is the best friend of Takasugi fucking Shinsaku. And he is friend with Sakamoto Ryôma (bless you Shinkai for this). Which means he knows Kusaka Genzui, Katsura Kogoro, Kawakami Gensai, Yoshida Shoin, maybe also Otose-san...We could have more historic characters of Satchô Alliance and Chôshû and more Onis background. He has SO MUCH potential !
Least favorite route:
I DON’t know ! It is really hard and moreover because I don’t finish the game. So maybe Kazama’s route. Because I think Kazama has too many problems to be a good lover for Chizuru. Maybe when I’ll finish the game I’ll change my mind.
Favorite Chizuru ship:
Erh...I don’t know. Seriously I don’t know.
Top 3 ships overall:
Suki (Kikuzuki/Sen). Seriously I’m the only one who ship them ? They’re perfect together ! And more canon than any ship with Sen (just my opinion of course but come on ! They’re so perfect together). Yeah Sen/Chizu is pretty cute but my gosh Kimigiku/Kikuzuki and Sen are married for me ! Definitely !
Haraji (Harada/Hijikata). It all began with Hakuouki SSL drama because the interactions between Harada and Hijikata were pretty cool...And one day, @kazama-hime said “I ship them” and I replied “Me too” and I jumped with her. Now I’m more and more addicted to them. I need more of their bromance (like a lot of bromance in Hakuouki which are underexploited. I NEED MORE ABOUT MY BABIES) but I will always smile and giggle when I see interactions between them...where I can interpret many things *wink wink*. So you’ll be warned : when I read your fanfics and there are Hijikata and Harada...My imagination can go far far away.
Birdjime (Saito/Peacock). YES ! It’s a crackship ! But you know what ? I like it ! Okay I got many private jokes on it with kazama-hime but I just loooooove the symbolism of the peacock (immortality, a guardian to royalty...). I blame also I Origins and this music. In this movie we discover that the white peacock symbolize the souls scattered in the world. So maybe I just imagine something more deep and more spiritual in this crackship. It’s a crackship but like Hijikata/Cherryblossom it’s an inspiringship :P
But more seriously I ship a lot of historical ships like : Akenan (Akesato/Sannan), Kochi (Shinpachi/Kotsune), Mano (Harada/Masa), Ryôryô (Oryô/Ryôma), Ikutsura (Ikumatsu/Katsura), Tokito (Tokio/Saito)...And some ships which are not historic but are between Shinsengumi Captains and Historical Characters like : Yaeda (Harada/Yae), Yukita (Nakano Yuko/Okita) and Hijimitsu (Hijikata/Okita Mitsu)(I will ship them to the death !). And also ship a little bit Takasugi/Shiranui (best bromance in the world !). And honestly I got PLENTY ships in Bakumatsu (this is shipland this period !) but these ones are my main ships and the ones which I can put in Hakuouki (I’ve got also otp and ships with my OCs (and OCs friends) but shhhht).
Do you write/draw/contribute to the fandom in some way? If not, do you have any recommendations? Link us to them:
Okay so I write A LOT OF things about Hakuouki...but it is in French. And moreover I’ve got a lot fanfictions and projects on this fandom but for the moment I don’t finish it. I got a big fanfic on Hakuouki (La Grue millénaire/The Millennium Crane) but I need to go back over my plot. SO NOW I’m writing an AU!Police/Au!modern (Lapis Philosophorum). I have already written eleven chapters ! I’ll hope I could publish it on ffnet this september :3 And I’ve also a freaking amazing AU!Star Wars but I’ll wait to lead more Lapis Philosophorum to continue and write more about it. So I polish my plot and my AU for the moment :P (but I promess it will be awesome !!)(and in French. Sorry)
Otherwise I have a four hands project with @kazama-hime about AU!Fairytales (with two Bikkhuni who are in fact two of the Seven Lucky Gods). I’ve got also an AU with one of my friend (Harritsu) about World War II. AND I GOT PLENTY AU AND CRACKS!AU ABOUT HAKUOUKI ! HAKUOUKI IS PERFECT FOR EVERY FUKCING AU !!
I’ve also an idea about Kimi no na wa...maybe with Ryunusuke/Chizuru. Maybe I should make a challenge "AU! Animated film" with Hakuouki. (Like Summer War, Millennium Actress (Hijizu motherfuckers!), Tokyo Godfathers, Spirited Away (Saichi bang!), The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, The Boy and The Beast ...)(THAT WOULD BE FREAKING AWESOME !!!)...Why me ?
FINALLY ! I’ve got some recommendations !
If you can read French....Please read :
