Depression has been kicking me in the butt lately so I decided to make a little pill bug friend for myself using this pattern by @livvi3love. I changed a couple details to fit my own preferences (like sewing the legs rather than using felt) and I'm very happy with the result! I've been wanting an isopod plushie for a while so it was fun to make my own :>

I’ve been talking a lot about Ravio and Legend recently! But can you blame me?? I imagine this as Ravio’s first time going back to the ocean. He was nervous, but Legend promised to stay with him. And guess what? They were safe! Mer are supposed to live in the ocean. They have to soak three times a week just to keep themselves alive when they’re on land- and that’s to stay alive, not necessarily comfortable. It’s probably such a relief for Ravio to be back underwater after all this time. And Legend, but he’s more focused on… other things at the moment.

Ravio’s in awe of the ocean, his heart singing with joy to be home, amazed by the scenery. And Legend stays close, keeping his promise, and is just SO PROUD of him.

Lucy ends up spending some time with Cyprus for a bit of a mini vacation when she and Jayce break off for a bit due to Jayce feeling he can't share things about the Dread and thinking he can face this all on his own (like an idiot). He'll come around eventually...

But in the meantime!... Lucy takes some time for herself and gets to experience all the stuff in a mer city, which is very different, while she and Cyprus maaaay be falling a bit more for each other than they thought.

I end up spending a lot of time wondering about how life would be for merpeople in a modern age and have thought how they're living in the year 3024 over there with their abolished monarchy, equal distribution of resourced, biodegradable waste, and clean magic energy lol I think about how the foods they eat would have to be much denser and more in gel forms so it doesn't float away, how clothes are more for fashion rather than covering, and you have to anchor yourself in to sleep bc there's always a current. Life would be very interesting and different for them! Might as well be a different planet!

Been working on some sketches of my mer!Zoro, since he's one of my favorite designs. What started as me figuring out what his markings look like under his bandana turned into some of them ending up a bit more uh... sluttier than I imagined 😅😆

And then, while drawing these, I started to spiral and wonder what Tera and Arashi would look like as well, what traits Zoro inherited from each parent. Well, all this pondering resulted in new mer designs!

I had already designed a human form of Tera which is on my insta, so all she really needed were some tweaks, but I hadn't drawn Arashi yet so I had to come up with his from scratch. Originally I had wanted to take more inspiration from Kurogane from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles (sole reason being he and Zoro share the same English VA lol) and while I could see human Arashi wearing a similar outfit, I decided to make his overall look more distinct. I made him a blunette since a lot of the Shimotsuki have blue or blue-ish hair, and, like Zoro and Ushimaru, Arashi inherited Ryuma's huge-ass forehead 😂

Obviously, Arashi is a tiger shark, and originally Tera was going to be a leopard shark, but I ultimately decided to make her a thresher shark instead as I think the long tail matched her hair. This now makes Zoro half-tiger/half-thresher. Her eye color is a little detail I enjoy, as in fics I often find that people can't decide if Zoro's eyes are gold or silver, I prefer silver personally, but I made Tera's eyes gold in reference to that lol

I also wanted Tera to have an obvious sun theme, to go along with the Shimotsuki's moon theme. If I remember correctly, Shimotsuki Village was founded after the people from Wano drove off bandits, and Tera is the daughter of bandits, sooo... what if she was the child of the very bandits that were driven off? Maayybe there was a little Romeo and Juliet thing going on with her and Arashi? Maybe a diamond-in-the-rough bandit's daughter met the descendant of Wano's sword god and it was the greatest romance in One Piece history?!! Lol I just think it would be so funny if Zoro's parents were pretty much a Disney couple. She's the Megara to his Hercules, the Aladdin to his Jasmine, the Eugene to his Rapunzel 😆🤣🤣

Ohh gosh I'm not much of a that kind of AU person anymore but I do like mermaids so probably that :D It wouldn't be a regular mermaid AU though – Leonardo would just be an aquatic turtle person, lmao.

It would be the basic "merman saves a guy from drowning, romance ensues" plot because I'm tacky like that AND IT'S A REALLY CUTE PLOT OKAY

[Confidential file.] SUBJECT NO-1 CODE NAME. SHARKMAN.

⌜ We do not know much about SHARKMAN right now except that he works for a human corporation. We assume he has a high social status in the corporation based on his fancy [but cheesy] outfit. He also carries a gold gun engraved with an odd word on it [#1 Maneater]. He seems to have an odd sense of humor and is aware of the reputation of his own species. How fascinating. SHARKMAN mostly works in the field and is usually accompanied with a WOMAN [SUBJECT NO-2]. She seems to be his partner in the field as she wears the same reddish outfit and carries another type of weapon with her. We need to gather more information about them because they might be the [KEY] to what is truly happening inside the corporation. ⌟ [Next confidential file.] SUBJECT NO-2. TO BE CONTINUED.

Dropped some lore about my new OC [SHARKMAN] and yes, another shark OC you’d day but he’s from a universe I am currently creating alongside other characters I will introduce to you very soon.

More information about the character and the universe itself will follow later but for now I am pretty excited to post the first step.

Oneshot Project: Which of these should I work on or would you wish for a WIP of? [If you wish to be tagged for a writing WIP reply/comment so, also feel free to send in asks if you want to know more about any of them]

Dragon Au Unreliable Narrators, curtesy of Tim, with semi-dark Batfam thanks to them well, not being human. Includes Jason getting dragged back home kicking and screaming and human Tim eventually also becoming dragon.

Living Armor Au Semi-modern fantasy Au thing, with the batfam being more than a little oblivious to the fact that their allies think they are people in armor, not supernatural creatures. This also leads to misunderstandings when Bruce mentions they're getting a new family member.

Merfolk Au Gotham's version of merfolk is like a specialized super predator. Or maybe that's just the Bats, because despite most of them being based off of not exactly aggressive or even large fish, they Can take off someone's hand. It also doesn't help that no one thinks to mention the fact that Gotham is the sea's Eldritch Dead Zone.

Griffon Au Mostly fluff and found family, and Bruce with his kids as young kids. Includes him desperately trying to convince them to do Anything other than vigilantism, Please, and them just laughing at him. Also includes Alfred in shorts during the winter because he's built different.

Kobold-Dog Au Batfam, but they're lizard dog people with apposable thumbs. Includes baby Damian and some inspiration from the kobold of german folklore as well.

Kitsune Au Magical batfamily who might just specialize in more illusionary magic? Yeah, and some of them even count as holy creatures. Also, as kitsune can act as mediums between the mortal and celestial? They might interact with a few ghosts. Also Sentient Gotham City.

And I don’t wanna give too much away but here’s some more bullet points to chew on hehe ✨🌊

Jason’s bioluminescence is voluntary and another way his species communicate with each other

Dick loves his little (and somewhat strange) snake(?) mer brother to pieces, but sometimes he gets this kind of chill down his spine when he watches Jason hunt

Bruce’s sense for danger is shot to hell where his pod is concerned. Jason could probably take a bite straight out of his tail (he would never) if he was hungry and Bruce would just coo and promise to go hunt soon

Dick’s siren nature makes him ferociously protective and, beyond Bruce, the first line of defense

Jason’s tail, though still slim and frail looking, is powerful enough even at his kid size to crush another mer’s tail. Bruce and Dick don’t seem to realize this, Alfred catches the drift when he sees Jason break clean through the hinges of a sunken boat because he’s curious about what’s inside

Jason (for some reason Dick can’t fathom) is adamant about them all staying away from the trenches where the ocean floor reaches 8km+. Dick takes that to mean Jason’s scared of the giant squid and whatnot down there and muses his family got killed by them. It’s actually because Jason knows his own species tends to roam that place and Dick would stand no chance against one of them.

Dick loves interacting with some chosen humans but refuses to let Jay come close to any of them because in his head he wouldn’t have a good way of protecting himself like Dick does (siren song)

—> meanwhile Jason “you know I could literally unhinge my jaw and bite their head off????”

——> Dick, cooing and not taking one word seriously “awww Jay, sure, you’re a big and scary mer 💚💚💚”

Thanks to your Mer Legend and Mer Ravio I'm on a Mer kick, how would the other boys look if they also had Mer tails. Like Wild as Child of the Mountains but also a Mer. Also as a shapeshifter could Twilight make himself a Mer if he wanted to?

Want to know a silly stupid little fun fact? Before this became the Cryptid au, it was originally supposed to be a Mer au. I only got as far as designing Wild and Sky before I changed my mind though haha! So like, not Child of the Mountains, but I do have a Mer Wild design.

Yeah I got to Sky and then thought the idea was stupid and completely scrapped it but you must know that I LOVE drawing Merpeople and literally do it all the time. There may come a time where I draw the Cryptids as Mer just for fun because I Love Drawing Mer, but that probably won’t happen any time soon since I’m still in my silly goofy little art funk and am dying.

To answer your Twilight question! Twi cannot shapeshift into other Cryptids, only animals that he’s seen before. So he can’t be Mer, but he can be a fish haha! To swim around with Legend and Ravio and Wind.

Just some interaction bit I had finally with more between Jayce and Cyprus. This is later on in the story when some stuff came up with Lucy and them both trying to be there for her and why Cyprus was visiting in support. Both of them are wearing glamours (Cyprus the necklace and Jayce his wrist watch band), and Jayce at this point in the story is all fucked up from his Dread condition that's gotten worse and his real form is actually huge and wearing glamours is like wearing spandex that you're having to hold it all in with. He has to also use size spells to try and negate it, but it's hard to manage and keep track of it all.

He's definitely not comfortable most of the time...

I have a question for your RE mer au. How did the pod react to Luis ? I bet when Leon first introduced Luis to the pod, the pod was quite surprised !

Luis actually introduced himself! He was part of a team researching the area (it's well known for having a superpod that's lived there for many human and mer generations). A few months later, Leon's pod arrived, and being a rare species, it was a pretty great opportunity to learn more about them! Of his team, Luis was the one who worked up the guts (and was stupid enough) to try and get some hands on contact with the pod. It took a few months, but he was able to slowly sit and scoot a little bit closer every day. Eventually, when he started bringing food and Leon was the first to get curious, and Luis miiiight have accidentally started courting Leon. (Luis did not know this for quite some time). With Leon being courted by a human, and Jill being quite protective because of Leon's history with a previous mate, she's been quite wary of strangers- plus, this human was technically trespassing her territory. Though Luis eventually got the 'in' to the pod for the food he was providing, she still likes to challenge him sometimes. Any excuse to make sure this guy knows she's boss!
