#kelperambles #toxic to the extreme because Petey’s life has been so shit that he has unknowingly placed romantic love on a pedestal #since it’s seemingly one of the few “good” things in life he has to look forward to (aside fron his kid obv)#but once Petey realizes he doesn’t experience it. he goes cuckoo because like what is he supposed to do now???#and he’s too stubborn to change his perspective on romance so he’s stuck grasping at straws for that sense of “normalcy” that everyone else #seems to easily indulge in. This has been chilling in my mind since I first saw ZivaZivcs comic and I finally got the energy to make it XD

I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.

Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.

Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.

And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.

All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.

#idk man #this idea has been rotting in my head for a long time #i have like a terribly rough outline #where basically the events of the book happen exactly as canon up until post church fire #so pony johnny n dallas are in the hospital #n ponys reeling from literally everything that just happened #n he reunites with soda n darry n suddenly realizes like oh fuck #i cannot hear sodas hysterically releived laughter #or darrys voice as he thanks god ponys fine #n then the dr pulls darry aside n tells him that pony has profound hearing loss as a result of an injury sustained during the fire #the last voice he will ever have heard clearly is johnnys #johnny dies canon complicent #but before dallas can get himself shot by the cops darry gets to him first #so dallas survives #pony learns asl from a deaf woman who their family has always been familiar with #since their parents were always real keen on including people that the rest of the world looked down on #dallas has to deal with not only surviors guilt but feeling like he took something from Pony that can never be given back #he has his own arc with the woman #but it basically all boils down to deafness is not the LOSS of something #but rather just the ADDITION of a new community n language n experience #plus dallas learns sign n is just utterly overwhelmed by feelin like his hands can be used for somethin soft n good #UGH #if yall wanna hear more about this lemme know #bc i have been thinking about this for a WHILE #the outsiders #sodapop curtis #ponyboy curtis #darry curtis #dallas winston #the outsiders 1983

i need ghoap frantically making out against a door finally taking the leap on their feelings. need ghost grinding against soap, expecting to find him just as hard as him, only to feel nothing

and in all his wisdom and experience, he concludes soap was tortured and never told him

he’s trying to think of a delicate way to say he understands, that he’s been through it and it doesn’t change anything about how he feels (and who the fuck touched him so he can hunt them down and rend them limb from limb)

meanwhile trans!soap’s just trying to find the best angle to grind his cunt on ghost’s thigh

just it never even entering ghost’s head bc he’s never known a trans person but he has met plenty of people who’ve been tortured - himself included - so of course that’s his logical leap

Something about the fact that these shots are all grouped together, one after another, visually giving them equal weight just gets me. The narrative knows what's going to happen between JGY and Huaisang at this point, knows how it's going to treat JGY at the end of everything. And it still takes time to show Meng Yao instinctively and immediately going in front of Huaisang and Huaisang instinctively and immediately hiding behind him. It takes the time--literally, showed it in the background and focused on it with the same general amount of time as the other shots--to show that this act of protection and trust are just as real and true as Jiang Cheng defending his sister, as Wen Qing defending her younger brother.

Like, I dunno! There are other Nie juniors there! They have swords and shit! Huaisang could have gone and hid behind the wall, but he hid behind Meng Yao! And Meng Yao could have moved back with Huaisang, but he steps directly in front of him!

There's a lot CQL did to JGY's character and narrative that I don't like and that flatten or just straight up erase his full complexity. But I really appreciate the lengths that it went to in Episode 4 to explicitly tell us that he does not hesitate to protect Huaisang, even though at this point he does not have a sword and definitely does not have anywhere near the same cultivation power (if any) as any of the rest of the people in the room.

Right now, after being publicly humiliated, unarmed and definitely outclassed, he is brave. Along with the rest of the characters, he's allowed to be uncomplicatedly young and loyal and just as innocent as any of the other students there.

#Besides Wen Chao fuck u bud #Honestly I think that along with Xichen Huaisang is the other person he legitimately never considered hurting #(In the same way that he didn't consider killing Mingjue hurting them but I digress)#With Xichen I think there were plenty of times were he came to the conclusion that fucking him over or overtly manipulating him #in a disadvantageous way would benefit himself and he actively decided that he would not do that #Whereas with Huaisang I just get the impression that it never occurred to him to do that #And I'm not saying that was ALWAYS out of the goodness of his heart #I think he genuinely didn't think he would get anything out of taking advantage of Huaisang personally or politically #Which is not the most ringing of endorsement next to 'I knew I could and chose not to'#But it wasn't ALWAYS that #for a man who has to constantly be on guard and look for leverage in every single interaction and aspect of his life #I think it's pretty significant that he let Huaisang in so close that he was shocked when he found a metaphorical sword in his chest #along with the physical one #Because in never trying to hurt him he never felt he had to defend against him #He loved him.
