The people wanted to know. That’s what you told yourself as you walked through Arkham Asylum. You were being escorted by two armed guards and trying not to make eye contact with anyone in the cells. You had heard of Gotham’s crazies but you’d never come face to face with any. But the criminals around you weren’t who you were worried about. 

Last week, you paced your father’s office venting to him about how boring your magazine seemed. You were running out of shocking fashion trends and celebrity scandals to report on. So, as your heels clicked back and forth and you reapplied your lipgloss anxiously for the third time, your father sighed.

“Why don’t you try reporting on crime? And real important events?” He suggested, as he always did. Perry White was so proud when his daughter told him she was going to college for journalism. However, after she graduated, and showed no interest in newspapers, crime, or anything of the sort, he was very disappointed.

“What billionaires are up to is important. The people wanna know. And besides-” you were cut off by one of your dad’s reporters.

He poked his head in, “Harley Quinn’s been arrested again. Sent to Arkham.”

“Bill, if you have to say again in a tone like that, do you really think it’s news?” Perry looked at him, unamused.

Bill said nothing, simply nodded, and stepped out again. 

“What were you saying?” your dad brought his attention back to you.

“I just had an idea…”

So, here you were, sitting across the glass from the infamous Harley Quinn. She sat criss-cross on the ground on her side of the glass and smiled eerily at you.

“I love all the pink,” she told you, motioning to your outfit. You could most commonly be seen wearing pink and/or preppy clothes. Though your father worked for everything your family had, you very much dressed in the old money style mixed with a bit of Mean Girls. You’ve even been compared to Elle Woods.��

You smiled back at her, though yours was much less ���I’m-going-to-kill-you’ and more genuine. “Thank you. Mind if I record?” You showed her your audio recorder. 

Harley tightened her pigtails one by one and grinned, “Go for it, kiddo. I gotta say… No one’s ever come here to ask me about my style before.”

As you hit record, you chuckled, “Yeah, and I think that is so unfair. I mean, come on, you even made your jumpsuit look cute. You’ve got to be one of the top three best-dressed criminals.”

After an hour of chatting, the interview turned into a casual conversation. You’d actually gotten to know Harley Quinn and the evolution of her costumes pretty well. And after another hour, you were ready to write up a whole two-pager all about her and her style. 

“Thank you so much for the interview. I promise I’ll get you a copy- I’m allowed to do that, right?” you stood, looking back at one of the guards who had escorted you. He gave a simple nod and that was enough.

“Ah! I’m so excited! Thank you for the girl talk. It’s been too long since anyone tried to talk to me like a person,” Harley also stood, walking backward to sit on her bed.

The day you returned to Metropolis was a Sunday. You silently cursed yourself for telling your dad you’d be in the office Monday. Though you didn’t work for him, he did let you take up office space at the Daily Planet and use his software (as well as your own, of course) all for free. 

Out of habit, before bed, you looked out your window to see if you could catch a glimpse of Superman. He was a new hero in Metropolis and you, along with most cityfolk, were very eager to see what he could do. 

With no sign of him this time around, you decided to start up your skincare. The routine you had was incredible. You knew you had an addiction to buying creams, face masks, and new things to keep yourself looking good, but who cared? Your skin was clear, and your heart was happy.

As soon as you put on the same mask you usually wear to bed, you heard car alarms down below your apartment. Rushing to grab your camera, you raced to your back porch and looked down. You fumbled with the camera, trying your best to capture what you could see. Of course it would fall ten stories down.

“No!” You tried to grab it but it was just out of your reach.

Then, the exact thing you were trying to photograph flew your camera up to you. “Drop something, miss?” he had a kind and very handsome voice. It was deep and confident.

“Suh- Suh- Suh-” You slowly took your camera from his hand while he hovered just above the ground.

“Hi, I’m Superman.”

The next day, you rushed into work eager to tell your father who you met. But when you walked into (more barged into) his office, he had a young man with glasses sitting at the desk.

“Oh, Clark, this is (Y/N), my daughter. Her office is that obnoxiously decorated one next door. (Y/N), this is Clark, my newest reporter.”

As the two of you were introduced, you couldn’t help but feel he seemed familiar to you somehow.

He politely waved at you with an awkward and shy smile, “Hi, there. Good to meet you.” His voice had a sweetness to it, and a midwestern accent. However, he looked at you like he already knew you.

Marauders era's girls x girl childhood

Lily - Strawberry Shortcake girl first, human second, collected greeting cards and watched the cartoon religiously. Loves Barbie, had few dolls and watched every movie with Petunia, her favorite ones are Magic of Pegasus and Princess Charm School. Watched Winx, her favorite was Bloom. Favorite Disney Princesses are Belle and Cinderella, Twilight is her favorite out of Mane6 from MLP. One of 10 people on the planet that read Star Darlings.

Marlene - Polly Pocket girl, had a dozen of those tiny boxes. Adores Monster High, got atleast 2 dolls for every birthday, seen every movie. Watched og He-man and She-ra with her brothers and was super hype once the reboot came out. Made James and Peter watch Barbie movies and W.I.T.C.H., they made her watch TMNT and Transformers. Her favorite Barbie movies are Mermaid Tale and Diamond Castle, favorite pony is Rainbow Dash and favorite Disney Princesses are Mulan and Merida

Mary - dances ballet since she was 10, watched Angelina Ballerina almost every day and read as many Angelina books as she could. Collected LPS since she was 6, has two shelfs in her room just for the figurines. Favorite Barbie movie is Nutcracker and Swan Lake, mostly because of the real ballet dances in those movies. Her favorite Disney Princesses are Tiana and Rapunzel and Rarity is her favorite pony. Elle Woods and Cher Horowitz are her heroes

Dorcas - she is Tiana and Tiana is she, she owns colour green, as a kid definitly tried to kiss a frog atleast once and she and Pandora dressed up as Tiana and Lottie for Halloween 2 years in a row. Adored My scene, had many dolls, watched all movies and cartoon episodes and played all of the flash games. Also watched Winx and listened to Winx's albums so often I started to drive her family insine. Was also obsessed with PowerPuff Girls. Watches Sofia the First and Elena of Avalor with her younger sister. Mariposa duology are her favorite Barbie movies, Applejack is her favorite pony

Pandora - W.I.T.C.H. girl, collected comics as they were coming out, still has a box with accessories that came with each issue, rewatched the whole show every year, probably forced Regulus watch with her. Watched all of Disney Fairies movies and read all of the books, forever mad that Rani was not in the movies. Fairytopia trilogy stan, had a Bibble plushie. Pinkie Pie is her favorite pony and Aurora and Ariel are her favorite Disney Princesses. Watches Enchanted atleast 3 time per year

Sybill - One of 5 people that remembers Bratzillaz, but never really got into a Bratz. She just really likes a cartoon where a main character is a seer. She also likes Barbie, Rapunzel is her favorite. Religiously watched Addams family cartoon and Laika's movie. Had all 3 MLP G3 movies on DVD and later got obsessed with Friendship is Magic, her favorite is Fluttershy. Her favorite Disney Princesses are Snow White and Aurora. Practical magic is her comfort movie

Emma - Bratz girl, bought many dolls, watched all of the movies, even the live action one and listen to every album. Was also obsessed with Totally spies and Kim Possible, wanted to be a spy until she was 10. Despite being Bratz girl she did seen few Barbie movies, 3 musketeers is probably her favorite. Will unironically say that Kuzco is her favorite Disney Princess, it's actually Jasmine. Also a big fan of Jem and the holograms. Can quote Mean Girls so well it's actually scary

Amelia - one of those Barbie scholars. Not only has she see all of the movies she also knows deep lore of the toy. Don't ask her which movie is her favorite, she cannot choose. Adores Legally Blonde, movie and the musical. Hello Kitty aesthetic. Favorite Disney Princess is Rapunzel. Read Princess Diaries serie and hates to movie for completly ruining the story

Emmeline - MLP stan, can sing every song on Rainbow Rocks soundtrack, her favorite is Twilight, og LyraBon shipper. Also loves Care Bears, definetly annoys everyone by yelling Care Bear Stare while throwing thing at people. Had a massive crush on David Bowie and watch Labyrinth over and over again. favorite female characters? not from HP but in general.

Well, I have many, but I’m going to mention the ones I remember because I’m terrible at making lists like this on the spot — I always forget people — so I’ll just say whoever comes to mind.

Lady Bird: from the movie Lady Bird by Greta Gerwig. If anyone wonders what I was like as a teenager, I was very much like Lady Bird (terrible story with the typical soft intellectual boy who smokes and reads Tolstoy included). I’ve never felt so identified with a coming-of-age film. That movie was literally me, including the complicated relationship with her mother — mine and I didn’t get along back then — and also the crash-and-burn experience of going to college, plus the pretentious aspiration of being part of an intellectual elite like the Beat Generation. The only thing that didn’t happen to me was trying to fit in with rich people and having a boyfriend who turned out to be gay, but the essence of the movie is very similar to my adolescence. I’m from a mid-sized city that felt too small at the time, and I went to a Catholic school. That character stirs a lot of emotions in me.

Brooke from Mistress America, also wich is por trajes by Gerwig. Basically, I’m Brooke now. Greta Gerwig and I must be soulmates or something because for some reason her female characters always have qualities I deeply relate to. Or maybe we’re just two highly dysfunctional people who don’t really know what to do with our lives. This also leads me to Frances from Frances Ha.

Julie from The Worst Person in the World, another character I strongly relate to. In this house we love young adult women with clear attachment issues, chaotic and aimless lives, low-key depressed, semi-alcoholic, and with disastrous personal lives.

Cassandra from Promising Young Woman. Crafting a perfectly planned revenge to ruin the lives of your best friend’s abusers after they drove her to suicide? Something I’d totally do. I love her.

The protagonist of My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh, who remains unnamed. Basically, a girl bored with life and deeply depressed who decides to take a sabbatical year popping every kind of antidepressant, anxiety med, tranquilizer, hypnotic, and psychiatric drug to spend the year sleeping and watching Whoopi Goldberg movies. An absolute queen. We stan.

Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. Always rooting for women who perform traditional femininity while proving they can be fashion-obsessed, beauty salon-loving, ambitious, brilliant, and determined to make the world a better place. Let’s protect the Elle Woodses of this dark, hostile world — we need them to keep the darkness at bay.

Emma Woodhouse from Emma. My favorite Jane Austen novel and my ultimate heroine. Emma is like a mix of Elle Woods and Blair Waldorf. Many people adore Lizzie Bennet because they think she’s super badass, but there’s no one more badass than Emma Woodhouse. In a time when all women were husband-hunting, she was perfectly content living with her father. She literally mentions that her father will leave her a huge inheritance, and she doesn’t need kids because she already has her nieces and nephews — so why rush? She’s super frivolous but has this childlike charm that makes her adorable. She can be insufferable and even a mean girl, but she never acts out of malice — she just lives in her own bubble. Also, the best Austen hero ever is Mr. Knightley. He’s the ultimate “my future wife is my best friend, and I love her so much that I’m willing to leave my mansion to live in hers with her quirky dad because she doesn’t want to be separated from him.” Such malewife vibes. We love malewives.

Katniss Everdeen. Katniss is fed up with everything and just wants to die. She’s not a compliant or pleasant protagonist, and I love that. Many people dislike her because she doesn’t fit many typical narrative standards for female characters, and we love her for that.

Sansa Stark: Hating Sansa Stark is pure misogyny, period. Sansa is the most realistic female character in the entire saga, and that’s why everyone hates her. She’s not about muscles, swords, dragons, or powers. Sansa is about brains, learning, growth through hardship, cunning, and manipulation. We love our damsel-in-distress-turned-political-strategist. A true survivor. I love her; if anyone messes with her, I’ll fight.

My beloved Lila Cerullo and Elena Greco from My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante. If you haven’t read The Neapolitan Novels, you’re seriously missing out. No one has captured the complexity of female friendship over the years like Ferrante. No one has portrayed femininity in a patriarchal world better. It’s a story about violence — all kinds, from physical to structural and political — against women, class violence, and social violence. It’s a story about love, loss, generational change, and the turbulent twists of the 20th century. But above all, it’s the story of two girls, two teenagers, two women navigating a violent world that tries to shut them out from the start — a world they must carve their way through, blow by blow. Two women who are two sides of the same coin. Two women who represent passion and reason, natural talent and hard work, lack of opportunity and breaking new paths, physical violence and psychological manipulation. But most of all, two women bound together since childhood by a complex, toxic, beautiful, and tragic friendship. This saga will break your heart but also fill you with life. It’s truly magnificent.

Tell me about those time loop thoughts 👀

because you asked so nicely!! Like I said in my og post I haven't selected a single character whom I would like the loop to revolve around but I am particularly drawn to the "unlikely hero" group of maybe Pepper, Jane, Jarvis, Clint, or Bruce.

Idea #1

Character A slowly realizes a time loop is occurring and they're the only one "aware." They quickly realize "oh shit no one else can save me what do I DO?" and after many shenanigans and pranks and long-hidden desires (punching tony in the face, anyone?) they realize the loop is caused by a horrid event that happens each night that they have to unravel the cause of - perhaps someone commits a crime, or tries to kill themselves, or the tower is invaded, and Character A has to convince everyone something is wrong AND stop the horrid event from occurring to break the loop.

Idea #2

Character A wants to be the star for once. They get an opportunity to wish and have that wish granted - they're in the spotlight, the hero of their own tale. Time loop. Through the loop's repetition, Character A learns the dark side to everyone they've so envied - cap is depressed and impossibly lonely; bruce is terrified of human contact; tony doesn't know how to accept affection and genuine loyalty; natasha can't be vulnerable; the list goes on. Character A learns from the wish-granting source that they have to prevent a world-ending catastrophe and only have so many loops left to do it ("You wanted to be a hero, remember?") but as a gift for their perspective change, they're granted one more person into the loop to help. They think "okay, Gimme Cap or Thor maybe!" and the gift-granter laughs and gives them an unexpected character B - someone similarly NOT in the limelight. Characters A and B work together with surprising skillsets (think Elle Woods in Legally Blonde meets Clint's "Of Course I Know How To Weld Shit" random skills) to save the world and escape the loop with a great friendship and better relationships with the team.

Idea #3

Character A says "I would simply do everything right on the first time loop. Skill issue." and the others (or just one other person, haven't decided) put that to the test. Character A is inserted into a time loop with a counter of the loops completed on the fridge only they can see. The loop's "completion" requires a small but vital behavior change like listening to a grunt worker vent about something that turns out to be serious (boyfriend is actually a nazi hydra agent, or chemicals mixed in an explosion were mislabeled meaning it was an ATTACK, or that sort of thing); getting lunch with a lonely coworker and saving their life as they decide not to quit their job and join a criminal faction; it's a tiny choice that signifies a big character shift within Character A. The humor and bulk of the fic will stem from Character A trying wverything in their power to do something RIGHT, to get the loop fixed - all in ways that make them miss the change they need to make. It's when they give up that they realize what's missing.

Though Sophie hasn’t been on the property in decades, she immediately begins retracing the happy steps of her youth before encountering Sam (Mathison), her long-lost, childhood friend. Sam has returned to the farm after learning Henry left him the other 40% of the property. The legacy property means a quick sale is likely, though Sophie and Sam will discover neither of them is ready to let go just yet.
