JOEY MCKINNON, best friend of josh washington and samantha giddings had been quietly pining for a certain blonde party girl for years. she met the girl in middle school, a few years after meeting josh and chris. she quickly grew close with sam, both quiet and often found themselves left in the corner at parties to their own devices. she soon found herself on the invite list to the annual blackwood getaway, and sat out on the prank after passing out with josh and chris.

A YEAR LATER… joey accompanies her friends back to the mountain after the tragic deaths of hannah and beth. joey tried to remain as close with josh as she could, but months with only one word responses had her bitting her nails down to the beds for her best friend. she was arguably the closest with josh, and spent countless nights at his house watching cheap horror movies with even cheaper special effects.

JOEY AND JESS’S relationship was rocky, to say the least, since the prank that had taken place a year before their reunion. despite her newfound relationship with mike, joey couldn’t help but find herself even deeper in the hole when she thought of her. most would never pick the two girls as friends, but they got along surprisingly well. joey was almost sure that with their current circumstances, she’d never find a moment to tell her friend how she really felt.

WHO IS JOEY MCKINNON?

JOEY is an 18 year old photographer, born and raised in salem oregon. her love of photography stemmed from her mother’s job as a local journalist, joey soon taking after her as the photographer for the yearbook and school newspaper. after the death of her mother in elementary school, she moved into the giddings residence. she soon met the washington’s, as well as their close friends.

HER BOARDING SCHOOL DAYS were much more lively than she once assumed, sneaking into jess’s room at night to watch her favorite rom coms and eat candy they’d snuck in from visits into town. she and josh took film class together, proudly working on their own horror film for their final project, starring sam.

DETAILS ! joey is an avid film watcher, horror being her favorite genre. some of her favorite’s being evil dead 2, i spit on your grave, christine, the reanimator, and the lost boys. she and josh love going to concerts, and have seen the smashing pumpkins, the maria’s, slowdive, and paramore. she also loves taking jess to drive online movies on the weekends and going on hikes with sam during their breaks.

Annora comes from a farm, where she lived with her parents & five siblings

at the age of 6 her powers manifested, when she made leavs grow on a tree near the field where her parents worked

as it's customary she was then brought to the court of the High King to start her training with the other three future guardians

so about the guardians: basically in every generation four people are born with the powers of the elements fire, water, air & earth. originally they were supposed to protect the people of Misara, but by now they are mainly weapons the High Kings use for their own goal & ensuring their loyalty from a young age is obviously a part of that

as the guardian of earth Annora's powers include: earth & plant manipulation, geokinetic combat, terrakinetic constructs. she also has a deeper connection to animals & the feel safe around her.

her skills also include sword fighting & riding

she embodies her element in many ways, usually perceived as calm & steadfast as a rock, her feelings carefully hidden away underneath the surface.

Annora is a diligent student, exceeding in both combat & academics

until the events of the book, that include the High King trying to get rid of her, Annora has always believed in her purpose & especially in the bond she shares with the other guardians

when they are still teens her relationship with Lysander grows into more than friendship, but they hide that from the rest of the word, due to that love being forbidden for many reasons.

at the end of the day, even after they go back to friendship (very painfully so), Annora's loyalty will always belong to Lysander first.

You’re conjuring up a plan with the precious little girl next to you. A plan of attack (code for ‘surprise for Jinx’). No special occasion, just something Isha wants to do for her. It’s sweet, and so you agreed immediately.

“We coouuuld lure her in with…well I don’t know, candy? Where would we get candy…” you ponder your own question for a second while Isha stares, observing you.

“ooh! And we’ll be hiding behind the couch and scare her when she gets close enough! Only then will we give her the gift.” You nod at yourself approvingly, convinced it was a good idea.

Isha side eyes you though, her judgment clear as day. The words that’s stupid written clearly on her tiny face.

She signs ‘that’s dumb’ as if you couldn’t already tell that’s what she was thinking. You’re offended still, seeking a way to defend yourself. You use the age old argument.

“Your mom is dumb.”

Isha’s eyes widen at your statement.

She points at you, head tilted and giving a confused look. As if to say but you’re my mom…then shakes her head and let’s out an exasperated sigh, rolling her eyes. Never mind, her dismissal says.

The attitude on this kid. Wonder who she got that from…(Jinx).

“Whatever. Got a better idea?”

She gives a small nod, making an excited noise.

“Wow. You’re soooo much smarter than me, aren’t you, kid?”

She nods enthusiastically this time, a big toothy smile on her face.

Ah. And she loves to make fun of you, just like Jinx.

“Whaaaat are you two doing?” A second voice causes the two of you to jump. Jinx, with her hands on her hips, stares expectantly.

Isha immediately relays your plan to her. I thought this was supposed to be a surprise?

“Ha! Definitely not your brightest moment, toots. Though I don’t recall you ever actually having a good idea…” Jinx teases, pointer finger tapping her chin, as if deep in thought. Isha laughs with her.
