UTDR 9th Anniversary Newsletter Musings
(Here's a link to the newsletter if you haven't already read it: Autumn 2024.) (It's spring right now where I am...) (Eh, oh well.)
First of all, Tori blowing fire to light the candles, very cool, might have to draw that.
Hmm, that's a lot of a certain number... You know what, I don't even have to go into this, we all know what it's referencing.
An interview with Sans, heck yeah!
As I expected, it's a joke, but... uh... just me, or does it seem like it might be talking about something else? Not entirely sure what, but I'm sure there's already plenty of theories despite it literally only coming out today. In any case, it was very amusing and some classic Undertale humour. Also
Jeez, Tori, it's been years, you've already made your feelings about Asgore's actions clear. Give the poor guy a break. (Link to the full interview if you wanna read it: Sans: What do you think about the number nine?)
...Toby? Toby, what does this mean? TOBY WHY DO YOU MAKE THE MOST INNOCUOUS STATEMENTS THAT HAVE SO MUCH POTENTIAL MEANING BEHIND THEM ...This is... ominous, to say the least, given the Snowgrave route and the fact that Toriel might join us in the Dark World in Chapter 3... ...I'm just overthinking this, right? ..........right???
Toby, this is the Undertale fandom you're talking to. Since when have we ever been responsible with Sans or his AUs? You should know better than to trust us with this skeleton by now. *Proceeds to use cup for strawberry milkshake* ....Dammit, now I want to draw him with a bunch of different-coloured eyes... just because...
Never misses a chance to do this sort of thing, does he? (It has my real name in it, which I don't really want to show, so have some badly edited screenshots instead.) I have made butterscotch cinnamon pie before and it was genuinely delicious. Would love to bake one in that Toriel pie tray. ...I wonder how a fish and chips pie would actually taste, though...?
PERFECTION
I would buy every single item of this kitchen merch if I had the money.
*vibrating intensely with excitement*
Very nice, always cool to see unused stuff and concepts.
. . .
*Well, there is a man here. *He might be happy to see you. *What do you think?
...I overthink these things too much.
And finally, we get a letter.
My best friend's favorite number is nine. It's because there isn't a number that's higher. 9. 99. 999. 9999. If everything gets high enough, You become invincible. Nothing can hurt you anymore. Nothing can hurt anyone anymore. But isn't it scary, to think there's a highest number? That, if you made 99 good memories, you couldn't hold anymore. So I don't like to keep count of the flowers we pick, or the times that they laugh, or how many scary faces they make. I just hope we'll be friends for 999 more years.
(Couldn't screenshot the whole thing because it was too big, so I just copied the text. Here's a link to the original: Letter) On one hand, the spacing is kind of reminiscent of what we assume is Gaster. But on the other hand, it's not in all caps, and the language is different, and from what we know of the mysterious scientist (which is quite frankly very little), it wouldn't make sense. There is, however, someone else that would make a lot more sense.
*I'll go get the flowers. *I should have laughed it off, like you did... *Okay, [Name], are you ready? *Do your creepy face!
And most telling of all, "My best friend"...
It's. It's Asriel. IT'S GOTTA BE AZZY OKAY COME ON, THERE'S THE MENTION OF THE SCARY FACES AND EVERYTHING
...Ahem.
My hypothesis is that it's Asriel Dreemurr.
Aaaaannnddd... that's it for this newsletter! I needed somewhere to dump my thoughts on it, and that's kinda what this blog is for, so yeah.
A very happy birthday to my favourite game of all time.
If you have any theories or observations about the newsletter, I'd love to see them!
See ya next time, Pup

Cuckoo For Cocoa Puffs (Free!)
Summary: While discussing favorite cereals, Makoto realizes Haru is holding out on him and so uses a playful interrogation method to get a straight answer out of his friend.
A/N: My very first Free tickle fic! I'm so excited to share it with you! I feel super silly about the title but we all know my history with titles so I'm just going to let it be, lol. I originally wrote this with lee Haru laughing much louder, but after giving it some thought I decided it would be more in character for him to laugh silently, so this is what I settled on. I feel good about it! Hope you enjoy it, too! ^^

“Mackerel doesn’t count.”
“Mackerel is all I eat for breakfast.”
“It is now, but I know you used to have cereal sometimes growing up.”
“That was a long time ago.”
“You’re not that old!” Makoto grinned, rolling over on the couch to look down at Haru, who lay on the floor staring up at the ceiling. His blue eyes slid over to his friend. “Come on. Forget cereal for breakfast; just think about cereal in general. Which one’s the best?”
Haru blinked. “Are there any fish-shaped cereals?”
Makoto laughed. “You’re impossible.”
“I don’t eat cereal.”
“You should try it! It’s good.”
“Okay.”
The brunette waited a beat, then smirked at his friend. “Aren’t you going to ask me what I think the best cereal is?”
“Uh, sure. What’s the best cereal, Makoto?”
“Cinnamon Toast Crunch.”
Haru frowned, then glanced away. “If you say so.”
“You can’t judge me when you won’t give me an answer yourself.”
“Whatever.”
Makoto reached down to poke his stomach. “Do you have an opinion on the matter after all, Haruka?”
Haru batted his hand away. “I thought we agreed not to call me that.”
“Then maybe you should stop being so stubborn about giving me an answer.” Makoto chuckled, an idea sparking in the back of his mind as he poked his friend again, wiggling his finger on purpose this time. “Just tell me.”
Haru rolled away from him onto his stomach, grunting. “Knock it off.”
Instead, Makoto quickly descended from the couch and sat on his friend’s lower back, skittering his fingers rapidly along his back and shoulders. “I know you have a favorite cereal. What is it? Tell me.”
“H-Hey! Stop!” Haru protested, squirming. He wasn’t really reacting beyond that, but Makoto knew he’d break eventually. It was just a matter of keeping it up. The ravenette made a choking kind of noise when the taller boy started jabbing his fingers into the backs of his ribs. “Makoto!”
Makoto merely grinned, reaching under his shirt to dig purposefully into his ribs from behind. “Tell me, or I’ll tickle it out of you.”
Haru’s eyes snapped up to him in a brief panic. The usually stoic swimmer was well aware that Makoto knew he was ticklish enough for it to be a viable interrogation method, but still. He didn’t want to crumble right away just from the threat of it. He tried clamping his arms to his sides. “Don’t!”
“All right, you asked for it.” Makoto grinned, switching from digging to light scribbling, and Haru shuddered beneath him, burying his face in the carpeted floor to try and muffle his giggles as they slipped out of him beyond his control. “Jeez, you’re so stubborn, Haruka. All you have to do is tell me your favorite cereal.”
“I don’t eat cereal,” Haru tried, letting out a squeal that made his cheeks instantly turn a dark shade of embarrassed red. “Stohohop it!”
“See, I like Cinnamon Toast Crunch because it’s so sugary,” Makoto replied as though he hadn’t heard the giggly plea. “I know it’s not super healthy but I only eat it in the off season. I have to imagine you’d probably be a Honey Nut Cheerios person, or maybe a Fruity Pebbles kind of guy if you’re secretly pretty bold.”
“Mahahahakoto!” Haru cackled, giggles becoming soft laughter the more his friend focused on that incessant, light scribbling across his second worst spot. “Stohohohohohop!”
“I wonder what Nagisa and Rei would imagine your cereal choice to be. I should have them guess once I’ve gotten an answer out of you.” Makoto smiled at his increasingly flustered friend. “Feel like talking yet?”
“Stohohohohohohop!”
“All right, guess I gotta bring out the big guns.” The brunette let up on his tickling and shimmied down Haru’s body to straddle his calves instead, pinning his legs to the floor. He glanced behind him just briefly to get an idea of where his feet were, then began scratching ruthlessly at the bare soles, watching in satisfaction as his normally silent friend absolutely shrieked with giggles.
“Ehehehehehehehehe! Nohohohohohoho, Mahahahahahakoto!” Haru pounded the carpet with his fists, laughing quietly but uncontrollably, unable to even wiggle his feet away thanks to the position he was in. He tried rolling over but could only flail uselessly, and seeing that triumphant smirk on his friend’s face was not helping this tickle any less. “Stohohohohohohohohop it!”
“Favorite cereal, Haru. Tell me.”
“I dohohohohohon’t eat cehehehehehereal! Plehehehehehehehease!”
“Lying won’t get you out of this situation, I’m afraid. Better talk before I go for the toes.”
Haru yelped, then slapped a hand over his mouth. “Nonono not the tohohohohohoes!”
Makoto grinned, his friend’s unique brand of hysterics making him feel giddy as well. Haru was quiet in all respects – even in his laughter, which never rose above a low chuckling even when his worst spot was being tickled mercilessly like this. The brunette knew that it was still unbearable, however, and that continuing at this pace should break him in another minute or so.
Sure enough, just a few seconds later, Haru was giggling his defeat. “Okahahahahahay, okay, fine! It’s Cocoa Puhuhuhuhuhuhuffs! Cocoa Puffs! Please, stohohohohohop!”
Makoto laughed. “You like Cocoa Puffs?! No way! Say you're cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs!"
“Stop tihihihihihickling mehehehehe!”
“Say it!” Makoto demanded, grinning. Oh, how he wished he’d gotten his phone out for this.
Haru’s cheeks and ears turned a dark shade of red as he squealed into the carpet, “I-I’m cuckoo for Cocohohohohoa Puffs! Plehehehease – Makoto, please, no mohohohohohohore!”
Finally the brunette let up, laughing himself at how cute Haru was being. He couldn’t believe he’d actually gotten him to say it! “That was great, Haru! Man, you must be more ticklish than I thought you were!”
“That was mean,” the ravenette muttered into the ground, covering his head with his arm. “Stop laughing at me. You wouldn’t stop until I said it.”
Makoto’s giggles died down, but his smile stayed in place. “Hey, you know I wasn’t trying to be mean. I just never hear you laugh, you know? It’s addicting. I wanted to draw it out as long as I could.”
“Whatever.”
“Don’t you ‘whatever’ me. I’ll tickle you again if I have to.”
Haru squeaked, scrambling away from his friend in a hurry, shooting a nervous smile over his shoulder. “Don’t!”
Makoto smirked, wiggling his fingers playfully. “Why don’t we discuss dessert next?”

Time Stops
Pairing: Bucky x Reader Desc: This is for @ussgallifreyfics #gallifreys500 writing challenge. Not beta read. Prompt: “They say when you meet the love of your life, time stops, and that’s true.” - Big Fish Warnings: FLUFF
MASTERLIST
They say when you meet the love of your life, time stops, and that’s true. You’ve seen it with friends that had met their soulmates the day they were ready to. They stopped aging. When you turned 18 you could find your soulmate and never age again. While that was beautiful, it also put a lot of pressure on you and a lot of pity on people growing old. Usually people would just feel who their soulmate is, but there also were soulmate marks. They weren’t big or anything to brag with, but yours was a little heart-shaped darker spot on the back of your right hand. Right between the thumb and the pointer finger connection. Definitely a space you massaged a lot when you got nervous.
Right now was one of those situations. You were waiting in line to get onto a plane to New York City. A trip you made once or twice a year to meet your friends. While you loved New York, you hated flying. The many alien attacks and whatnot of the last decade weren’t helping with your anxiety. The plane being delayed on top of that was even worse for your mind going in circles. A big man sat down next to you, putting down a duffle bag and getting out a book with the title, “Love, Simon.” Wasn’t that a book about a closeted teenage boy? Didn’t match up at all with the giant frame the man had, but you smiled to yourself. You scrolled through Instagram, created a new collection for cute cat pictures and went on about your anxiety soothing. When you were finally boarding, your anxiety went through the roof again. Thankfully you had downloaded a whole documentary for the flight, otherwise you’d go insane. When you were situated in the plane and had gotten out your headphones, the giant man found his seat, the one which just so happened to be next to you. It was about to get cozy, but you weren’t complaining. You’d rather have a giant man with a good taste in books next to you than a creep or a family with a newborn baby. After your heart almost jumped out of your chest while you took off you finally could relax and start watching your space documentary. Every now and then you felt him flip a page in his book very delicately. Your hand landed on the little table your phone was situated on to give him more space, which is when you started to feel the stare on you. Well, now it WAS a little creepy. He tapped your shoulder and you stopped the show and looked at him. Woah, wait, you knew that face. That was Bucky Barnes, wasn’t it? “Sorry for interrupting, I just...I saw you like space and, uh, could you tell me what documentary that is? It looks awesome.” he gave a shy smile before looking away, right hand going through his beard. Wait a damn second. “Huh?” he looked back at you confused. “I said that out loud.” you stated to yourself and closed your eyes. “Yes, you did.” Now he was grinning at you, eyeing your slightly flustered face. “Uh, your soulmate mark. Are you…?” your eyes went from his eyes to his hand. “What makes you think that?” “You didn’t really age but you also were in cryo a lot, so it’s quite difficult to tell.” you grinned. He smiled wide and looked down on his hand before shaking his head, “No, haven’t found them. I don’t think I ever will. 70 years is quite a lot-” He saw your right hand come into his field of vision and his eyes went wide and back up at you. You were amused at the weird situation you had just put each other into and you couldn’t deny that you liked how he turned into a soft dorky man. But maybe that was just him outside of the news. “So...uh...wow.” Another time that he went through his hair. “Yeah,” you looked up at him with shimmery eyes. You respected the man in front of you so much for what he went through and that he was still here. But that giant dork that looked illegally good was your soulmate? That must be a dream. “So...would you like to go on a date anytime soon? I’d love to get to know you.” he got a little confidence back and gave an unsure smile to you. “Of course, I know this really great brunch place in the Upper West Side.” you smiled a little giddy. “Spring Natural Kitchen?” he asks. “Spring Natural Kitchen.” you nodded chuckling. “Wanda told me about it. She loves testing new places whenever she’s not on call.” “Sounds like I’d get along great with her.” “So...why are you flying to New York? You live there?” he finally asks and you shake your head. “I live near Denver and come here sometimes to meet friends and have a good time for a week or two.” “Which city’s better?” he smirked. “I like both, but I have a job back in Denver that I love. I’m working in a very laid back modern restaurant, café kinda establishment.” you explained. “Well, if you’re my soulmate, you might as well open up a second one of those in New York City, cause that sounds great.” By now he was so deep in your flirting battle that he totally forgot that he just met you. “You just want that cinnamon cupcake goodness.” you laughed. “I’d never say no to any food, I think that gets very clear when you look at me.” he looked down on himself. “Hm, yeah, a little.” You grinned, “Hungry giant.” “Oh, we’re already starting pet names, huh?” his brows went up. The giggle escaping you widened his big smile. ___ *You ready to get picked up and judged by Sam Wilson?* *Why not by Wanda? Or literally anyone that’s not Sam?* *I ask myself that every single day, darling.* *I’m ready by the way...and ready to fight Wilson if I need to.* *Sure, darling.* you could practically feel him grinning at his phone screen. *And by that I mean, if he dares to, you’ll defend me anyway, cause you’re cute like that.* Not too long after the AirBnB’s doorbell rang and you ran to the door in your comfy outfit. It was a brunch date, not a fancy gala. When you opened the door you were met with his audacity to wear a leather jacket. “Aw, come on. Really? A leather jacket? Like you don’t know that it’s super hot?” you pouted and were pulled into a hug. “You look cute. Is that Totoro on your sweater?” he held you and looked down on you. “Old man knows Totoro, check.” you grinned. “Hey, I’ve been catching up for 4 years. There needs to be SOME stuff that sticks.” “Could the lovebirds that both can’t drive please move their asses a little faster?” you heard out of a car behind Bucky. “Could the angry bird please chill?” Bucky answered without even looking at him. “C’mon, let’s go and give the man a break.” you chuckled before taking his hand and dragging him towards the car. “So, tell me about yourself. Anything that I don’t already know from social media and our chats.” he grinned. “I stress bake, my favorite shows are all documentaries, I’d love to have a cat, I’m into astrology, I love to draw and paint, my music taste is a literal dumpster fire and I really like sneakers.” you counted a few that you found to be relevant to yourself. “I’m still learning to cook new foods. I actually have a cat, her name’s Alpine, she’s an absolute whirlwind but she’s the most loyal little thing ever.” he smiled. “What kinda cat is she?” you asked excited. “British Shorthair and white.” he beamed. “I already love her. I’d love to get a completely black cat.” you leaned onto your hands. “We could.” he squinted with a cheeky smile. “You’re already thinking about moving my ass to New York, aren’t you?” you chuckled. “You’re my soulmate, why not? It’s not like you’re a shot in the dark or anything like that.” That made you feel warm inside, very very warm. “Yeah, guess you’re right.” you looked at the table flustered. “So, assuming you would stay here…” he got your attention back and god were his eyes sure of you staying here, “...would you actually open up a cool place like this?” “I’d love to but...renting a place like this in New York City? Making it look nice and advertising it? That’s so hard.” “Hi, you’re sitting in front of the longest prisoner of war. If you think Sam didn’t sue the shit out of the military to get me paid for that, then you’re wrong.” he grinned accomplished. “Bucky, you can’t-” “I can, tell me what you’d want to do.” he smiled at you softly, grabbing your hand. After a few moments of grasping the moment you continued, “Well, similar to this place, but with cakes, pies and cookies. And with a completely different color scheme. Very bright, like white and some pastel colors. I’d try to find tons of recipe’s online and let you try them until I have like 12 good and special ones that work. I’d always have a jar of triple chocolate cookies and a chocolate bomb cake. Maybe even sweet ice cream in summer? I’d have chessboard tiled wall behind the counter and hang nice art work in the rest of the place. I’d probably have someone bring in dog cake every week so they also get some good food. I’d make milkshakes, have a barista working and would create some special hot chocolate mix. Maybe I’d do something themed after you. Like little cookies with the- wait, do you hate the red star on your old arm? I know it’s very much a connection to the Sowjets, but I don’t really look at it like that.” “I’m neutral about it. I write autographs on cards with red stars all the time.” he shrugged. “Then there will be red star cookies. Maybe something themed after your bird friend?” you grinned. “He needs to work for it.” he laughed. “I make a mad cinnamon banana milkshake. That would sell very well.” you mumbled before taking a sip from the drink in front of you. “Cookies with red chocolate melted into it...that’s a good one for Wanda, isn’t it?” you smiled shyly, trying to not misjudge his friends. “I love that idea. Maybe something egg based for Sam, you know, cause he’s a falcon. I’ll shut my mouth…” he grinned and watched you snort laugh. The waffles you ordered were set down in front of you and you continued talking about the interior of your dream place. “I don’t know if I’d do it in Manhattan or Brooklyn. I mean Brooklyn literally has cute food places as its elevator pitch.” “I guess it depends where you’d find a place.” “Yeah, forgot, we’re in the ultimate place of renting stuff.” you grumbled and heard him chuckle. ___ “Finally!” you jumped around in the empty space that was about to become your own little store. You’d been with Bucky for three months now and your old boss was more than happy to have a new venture. And you were more than happy to have gotten such a great soulmate. He even got his driver's license to drive you around and go on little trips with you when he wasn’t working. Brooklyn Heights, right next to the Brooklyn Bridge, with an apartment right above. “Let’s measure and buy a nice kitchen for you to bake cupcakes in, darling.” he grabbed you close. “You just wanna eat, honey.” you pouted. “Of course, I eat everything you make.” he planted a kiss onto your forehead. “Hm, okay, let’s measure and drive to Home Depot too.” you smiled content and got another kiss. “You know, I think I found you at the right time. I like how you look. Not a day too young or too old.” you mumbled. “I would have loved you at any age I could’ve found you.” he hummed. “Yeah, that’s because you’re a hopeless romantic.” you giggled. “Only for you, darling.” “Love you,” you mumbled before pressing your lips against his, “so much.” “Let’s get your dream kitchen,” he said while lightly slapping your ass. “Hey! Watch your hands, Barnes.” you playfully scolded him. “Yes, ma’am.” he rolled his eyes before picking you up and carrying you to the damn car himself.

Stanuary ‘20 - Week Three: AUs
I’ve been busy working on my Master’s thesis and thus haven’t been able to do any Stanuary yet. But now that I’m basically done (just gotta drop my thesis off at the thesis library Friday) I’m hoping to do all four weeks. Just....not in chronological order. Anyways, the prompt for week three was practically MADE for me. Not to brag or anything, but I’m basically the non-binary ruler of AUs.
So, to really go whole hog with the AU prompt, I went with a crossover between two of my favorite AUs: the MerGucket AU and the Stay-at-Home Stan AU. I’ve written something for this particular crossover before, so this is a follow-up to that. Basically, Ford does research at sea, and when he has his big blow-up with Bill, jumps overboard, only to be rescued by Stan, who has somehow become a merman during their time apart. Not just a merman, but a father, too. Here’s Stan explaining how that came about.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ford stared intently at the multicolored cuttlefish idly swimming by.
It looks similar to the kraken I saw last month. Do kraken crossbreed? Or do juvenile kraken resemble cuttlefish?
“Uh, Ford?” Stan asked, startling Ford free from his thoughts. Ford looked over.
“Yes?”
“We’re here,” Stan said. He jerked a thumb behind him.
“You live in a cliff?” Ford asked.
“Yeah.” Stan looked over at the cliff. “The door’s hidden, though. Gotta make sure scuba divers or submarines or whatever don’t find us.” Promptly after offering for Ford to stay at his place temporarily, Stan had led Ford into a partially submerged hidden cave, walked into the water, and transformed into a merman. The casual nature of the act was off-putting to Ford, but not as much as the mumbled charm Stan had then cast on Ford to allow him to breathe underwater.
Stan knows spells. Well, at least one spell. How is this reality? How is my high school dropout twin brother a merman with a capacity for magic? Stan’s daughter, Molly, still nestled in his arms, snored loudly. Stan looked down at her with a fond, loving expression. Ford’s stomach turned over. Stan’s not just a merman now. He’s also a father, and a doting one at that. Stan whispered something to Molly in a different language.
“So, um, the door is hidden,” Ford said. “Where is it?” Stan looked up.
“I’ll show you, but I need to get Angie’s brother outta the house, first.”
“Pardon?”
“We can’t just leave the eggs unsupervised,” Stan said.
That’s right. Stan mentioned something about eggs.
“Angie’s older brother offered to watch ‘em while we went on our walk. Swim. Whatever. But he had a bad experience with a human not too long ago, so I don’t think he’d wanna see you. Just hide behind that rock or something.” Stan nodded at a large boulder near Ford. “Once he’s gone, I’ll let you in.”
“Okay, but-” Ford started. Stan ignored him and swam over to the cliff. Ford let out a sigh. He ducked behind the boulder and pulled out his journal, flicking through the pages idly. He landed on the page where he had started a drawing of Stan, before he’d recognized the merman he was observing.
At least I’ll be able to finish this sketch. I wonder if I can get Stan to sit in this pose again.
-----
After about fifteen minutes, which Ford spent writing about this latest development, the sound of voices carried to where Ford was hiding. Stan said something in the same foreign language he’d spoken in before. A second voice, which sounded very familiar to Ford, responded in the same tongue. Ford closed his journal and held it close to his chest. He could make out a flick of a green tail with light yellow fins as Angie’s brother passed the boulder. The merman disappeared quickly into the distance.
“All right, you can come in now,” Stan said, appearing next to Ford so suddenly it startled him. Instead of being carried in Stan’s arms, Molly was now nestled in a sling draped across Stan’s chest. Ford stared. “C’mon, Sixer. I gotta put Molly in her actual bed or she’s not gonna sleep well. She wakes up way too often as it is.” Ford nodded silently. He followed Stan to the cliff face, where Stan, with a practiced motion, slipped his fingers into a crack in the rock and pulled. A portion of rock the size of a door swung open.
“Slick,” Ford said. Stan rolled his eyes.
“Shut up and get inside.” Ford hurriedly swam in. Stan followed, closing the door behind him. Ford looked around in interest.
“How is it so light in here? Do merfolk have lamps?”
“Uh, sorta,” Stan said, already heading off, deeper into the house. “They use, um…I don’t know the English word for it. They grow stuff that glows.”
“Bioluminescent?” Ford suggested. Stan shrugged.
“You can ask Angie. She might not know the English word, but she can explain it better than I can. Anyways, we have some lamps, but we don’t need them right now. Enough light gets through the windows.”
“Windows?” Ford spun in a circle. His eyes widened at the sight of a window above a couch. “I didn’t see this from the outside. Are they specially designed?”
“Nah, stole ‘em from sunken ships,” Stan called from wherever he was. “You can’t see ‘em from the outside ‘cause of an optical illusion thing. If you get close to the cliff, they’re more obvious, but not from a distance.”
“Remarkable,” Ford muttered.
“Ford.” Ford turned around again. Stan’s head was sticking out of a room down the hall. “You’ll wanna see this.”
“Not that I doubt you, but why?”
“Don’t you wanna check out a mer egg?”
“A- yes!” Ford swam over. When he entered the room, his eyes were immediately drawn to the large basket leaning against one wall. The basket held two things: Molly, fast asleep and curled up into a ball, and one large, red fish egg. Ford frowned. “You said eggs. Plural.”
“Slip of the tongue. We haven’t been down to one egg for very long.”
“Why is the basket so large?”
“It’s called a guppy basket,” Stan said. “It’s where eggs go and the baby mers sleep until they outgrow it. Normally, mers have a bare minimum of ten kids at once. But when one of the parents used to be human…” Stan trailed off. Ford looked over at him. Disappointment had settled on Stan’s face. Stan noticed Ford looking and cleared his throat hurriedly, wiping away his saddened expression. “When that happens, there aren’t as many kids. Angie laid fifteen eggs. Usually a clutch has at least twenty. And of those fifteen Angie laid, only two are gonna hatch.”
“What happened to the other eggs?”
“Duds,” Stan said flatly. “Clutches have a lot of duds. That’s why mers have so many eggs at once.” He sighed. “It’s fine, though. I can handle two kids a lot better than I could handle ten.”
“This is…I’m completely astounded,” Ford said, shaking his head. “You- how-”
“They taught me a lot,” Stan said with a shrug. “Even taught me their language, Mermish.”
Oh, that must be the language he was speaking earlier.
“Kinda had to,” Stan continued, “since I was born human, not mer.”
“Yes. You were.” Ford looked at Stan inquisitorially. “How did you become mer?”
“I told you. I fell in love with a mermaid and ate a magic plant.”
“Give me the unabridged version. I feel I’m owed that much.”
“Fine.” Stan looked over at Molly and the last egg. “Let’s talk in the living room. Molly’s a pretty heavy sleeper, but I don’t wanna roll those dice. Babies are the complete monsters when they get woken up.”
-----
Ford settled himself on the couch, attempting to ignore the way his clothes floated upwards, tugging on his skin. Stan sat across from him in an armchair. He snickered.
“What?” Ford asked.
“You’ve got a cape on, like you’re Super Nerd or somethin’. Why did you bother wearing that underwater?”
“I-” Ford looked back. Sure enough, his trench coat was spread out behind him like a wedding train. He scowled and tucked it under him. “Don’t tease me, Stanley. I’ve been too shell-shocked by all of this to act upset with you, but by no means am I going to brush what happened ten years ago under the rug.”
“You’re in no position to make any threats towards me,” Stan said. “I’m the one who cast the spell so you could breathe underwater. I can remove it any time I want.” Ford swallowed. “Anyways, you wanted to know how I turned into a merman.”
“…Yes,” Ford said softly. Stan ignored his brother’s obvious unease.
If he didn’t want me to threaten him, he shouldn’t have threatened me first. So what if what I said had a bit more of a bite than he probably expected? That’s what happens when you mess with merfolk. Stan sighed and settled into his armchair.
“All right. Well, when Pops kicked me out, I took the Stan O’War out to sea. Not my smartest idea. Prob’ly shoulda taken the Stanleymobile. I mean, I sailed into a storm pretty much right away. I kept trying to bail her out, but it was raining buckets. I went overboard. Next thing I knew, I woke up on a beach. My clothes were soaked, I had no idea where I was, but I wasn’t too worried.”
“…Why not?”
“‘Cause one of the prettiest chicks I’ve ever seen had my head in her lap.” Stan grinned at the memory, clear enough to have happened yesterday. “And I just…I just stared at her.”
-----
Stan stared up at the young woman with his head in her lap. She seemed like a personification of the sea, with eyes as blue as the ocean and hair the color of the beach he used to play on with Ford. Faint freckles spilled across her nose and cheeks like she had spilled cinnamon but not bothered to wipe it off. The young woman stared back at him, smiling like she had a secret as she stroked Stan’s hair.
“Hi,” Stan finally croaked. The young woman’s smile broadened.
“Hello. You almost drowned, do you realize that?” Her voice was sweet and melodious, comforting like waves crashing onto the shore.
“Figured. Since I went overboard and woke up on a beach. Did- did you save me?”
“Yep.”
“H-how?”
“I’m a good swimmer.”
“What’s your name?”
“My full name’s awfully long and I ain’t too fond of it. But I go by Angie.”
“Angie. I’m Stan.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet ya, Stan.”
“Your accent…are you from the south?” Stan asked. A twinkle entered Angie’s eye.
“One could say I’m from the deep south, yes.”
“Kinda weird way to say it, but whatever.” Stan began to slowly get up. Angie stopped stroking his hair and scooched to the side, allowing him to sit up on his own. He looked over at her. “So where…” He trailed off, catching side of Angie’s bottom half. Instead of legs, she had a large, ostentatious yellow tail with pink fins. His jaw dropped. “You- you’re-”
“A mermaid, yes,” Angie said softly. Stan continued to gape at her. “I- technically, I wasn’t s’pposed to let you see me, but I wanted to make sure you woke up.” She looked away. “Even more technically, I wasn’t s’pposed to save you in the first place.”
“Then- then why did you?” Stan asked, still trying to wrap his mind around what was happening. Angie looked at him, her eyes soft and compassionate.
“I couldn’t let you just drown when I saw ya go overboard. I mean, yer only my age. Yer fam’ly must be worried sick about you.”
“Not really,” Stan mumbled, looking down at the ground. He idly flicked away a seashell. “They couldn’t care less about me.”
“…Really?” Angie asked. Stan nodded. “What makes you say that?”
“For one thing, they kicked me outta the house.” Angie was silent for a moment.
“They shouldn’t have done that,” she said finally. Stan snorted.
“Yeah. I fucking agree.” He sighed. “Whatever. Uh, thanks for rescuing me, I guess.” He got to his feet and looked around. “Do you have any idea where we are?”
“I don’t know the human name for it.”
Of course she doesn’t.
“But it’s uninhabited.”
“It’s-” Stan stared at the mermaid. “You- this is a desert island?”
“No. It’s got a tropical forest. It’s not a desert.”
“No, not- a desert island is an island that doesn’t have people on it.” Stan ran a hand through his hair. “Shit!”
“Look, it’ll be fine.”
“How?” Stan demanded. “I’m not some survivalist nutjob. I don’t know how to build shelter or kill squirrels or whatever. I can’t-”
“I can help with that,” Angie said, standing up as well. Stan huffed.
“Yeah, right. Like you can help me make a little hut outta sticks. You don’t even…have…legs…” Stan stared at her. Angie grinned cheekily. “Wh-” He looked down. Her tail had been replaced by two slender, pale legs. Stan looked away immediately upon realizing that she was completely nude from the waist down. “How-”
“It’s a long story. But merfolk can shift into a human form if need be.” Angie looked down at the sand and wiggled her toes. “I don’t take a human form often. Don’t really feel the desire to. But I want to help you out.”
“The best way you could help me out would be to…” Stan trailed off. Angie looked at him curiously.
“What?”
“No, that’s stupid.”
“Tell me.”
“Do you- if you can turn human, can I turn into a merman?” Stan asked. Angie eyed him. “I- honestly, I don’t really see a reason to stay on land. I don’t have anyone who cares about me, I don’t have any plans, there’s nothin’ tying me to staying human.” Stan could feel dread and sadness sinking heavily onto his shoulders.
Pops wouldn’t ever let me back, even if I did make a million dollars. And why would I go back anyways? Ford? He’s never gonna forgive me. Shermie and Mom? Mom let Pops kick me out, and the age gap with Shermie was too big for us to get close. I don’t have anyone. I don’t have anywhere.
“It- it might be kinda nice to start over. Somewhere else,” Stan continued. Angie pursed her lips.
“You should sleep on it,” she said finally. Stan stuffed his hands into the pockets of his drenched pants.
“That’s a no, then?”
“Not necessarily. I know there’re ways fer humans to become mer. I don’t know the details, though. I’d have to ask my parents. And I’ll have to explain why I’m asking.” Angie chewed on the inside of her cheek thoughtfully. “It’s- it’s possible. But you’d have to prove yer worthy of becomin’ mer first.”
“How do I do that?” Stan asked. Angie shrugged. “You can’t give me any details? Really?”
“Look, I- yer the first human I’ve ever talked to fer this long. Even if I knew everything about the process of turnin’ humans mer, I’d have a moral obligation to be quiet until you’ve earned our trust.” She looked out to sea. “And like I said, you should sleep on it, first. Givin’ up bein’ human to become mer is not somethin’ you should take lightly. And it’s not somethin’ you should do just ‘cause ya have no other options. You should want to do it fer a stronger reason than that.”
“Like what?”
“Well, my ma did it fer love.”
“Your mom used to be human?” Stan asked, aghast. Angie nodded.
“Yes. She fell in love with my pa and became a mer so they could be together.” Angie looked at Stan. “I ain’t sayin’ ya need to fall in love with a mer, but ya need a reason just as strong.” She shrugged. “Anyways. First things first. I’ll help ya make some shelter, maybe even help ya do some foraging. And tomorrow, I can come back with my folks. They’ll help figure this thing out.”
“Sounds good,” Stan said with a nod, his heart racing.
I can’t believe a mermaid rescued me and might make me a merman. What the actual hell is going on right now? A small smile tugged the corners of Angie’s mouth.
“What?” Stan asked. Angie shook her head.
“Oh, nothin’. Just thinkin’ ‘bout how odd you are.”
“Really? You think I’m odd?”
“You asked to be turned mer within five minutes of meetin’ me.” Angie grinned. “That’s odd.” Stan managed a smile back.
“Fair.”
-----
“That’s how you met your wife?” Ford asked.
“Yeah. But, technically, she’s not my wife. Merfolk don’t really have marriage. Angie and I are mated.”
“Does being mates still involve a union ceremony of some sort?”
“Yes.”
“Well, as far as Mom would be concerned, then, you’re married,” Ford said with a small smile. Stan chuckled. “Stanley, I’m honestly flabbergasted by all of this. It seems…”
“Impossible?” Stan suggested. Ford nodded. “I feel the same way.” He leaned forward and clasped his hands. He saw Ford immediately zero in on the red webbing between his fingers. “Some days I wake up and I can’t believe where I am. I’ve got the most amazing person in the world as my mate, I’ve got a daughter, and I’m gonna have another kid any day now.”
“Also, you’re a merman.”
“That, too.” Stan eyed Ford. “And now, you’re gonna be sleeping on my couch until we figure out how to get Bill off your back.”
“Yes.” Ford paused. “Thank you, by the way.”
“No problem. I’ll take any chance I can get to stick it to a mer hunter. Angie lost one of her aunts to a mer hunter. And I damn near got killed, too.”
“Wait, really?” Ford asked. Stan nodded. He laughed, but it was clearly forced.
“Turns out Carla McCorkle went into that business. My own ex-girlfriend was about to kill me and sell my scales to the highest bidder. Good thing Angie intervened. If she hadn’t threatened to down Carla’s ship, I’d, well. You can figure it out.”
“Sorry, did you say that Angie is capable of sinking an entire ship?” Ford asked, holding up a finger. Stan raised an eyebrow.
“She’s a siren, Sixer. That’s what they do.”
“Are you a-”
“Oh, hell no.” Stan tilted his head. “Well, technically, I’m a siren. That’s the kinda mer I am. But that’s not my job. Sinking ships requires singing, and even magic can’t fix a voice like mine. It made me extra persuasive when I talk, but if I try to sing, I still sound like a frog in a bucket.”
“Siren is both a type of mer and a career?” Ford asked. Stan nodded. “Hmm. Interesting. If you don’t sink ships, then what do you do? Do merfolk need to have jobs?”
“Usually, yeah. Mine is taking care of Molly. And when the other egg hatches, taking care of Stanley Jr.” Stan grinned. “It’s gonna be a boy, I can tell.”
“You-” Ford stared at Stan. Stan stared back.
“What?”
“You’re a stay-at-home dad?”
“Yep.” Stan stretched languidly. “Best job in the world.” Ford shook his head, trying to hide his astonishment. The front door opened. Stan looked over. “Hey, babe.”
“Hello, darlin’,” Angie crooned, swimming over and kissing the top of his head. Stan grinned up at her. “I stopped by Fidds’ place to check on him and his clutch. He said the egg was movin’ ‘round a lot today?”
“Yep. Stanley Jr. is gonna hatch any day now.”
“Oh, hon. We aren’t namin’-” A small squeak came from the couch. Stan and Angie looked over. Ford was as pale as a sheet. “We have a visitor,” Angie said mildly.
“Yeah, Ford got on the bad side of someone pretty nasty, so he’s gonna stay here for a bit,” Stan said.
“Understood. I’ll go check on Miss Molly. She’s prob’ly hungry.” As if on cue, crying sounded through the house. Angie chuckled. “Speak of the devil.” She nodded politely at Ford. “Pleasure to meet you, Stanford. We’ll have to have a proper introduction once I take care of Molly.”
“Yes,” Ford mumbled. Angie left. Stan looked at Ford, concerned.
“What’s wrong, Sixer? You look like you saw a ghost.”
“I-” Ford took a steadying breath. “Angie is very similar in appearance to my former first mate, who disappeared from my ship a month ago. While we were in the middle of the ocean.”
“Okay…” Stan said slowly.
“He- Angie mentioned someone named ‘Fidds’. My former first mate, he sometimes went by that nickname,” Ford continued. Dread began to build in Stan’s gut. “Angie’s last name wouldn’t happen to be ‘McGucket’, would it?”
“No,” Stan said. Relief broke across Ford’s face. “It’s MerGucket. But when her older brother pretended to be human to work for some researcher, he used McGucket instead.” Ford groaned loudly. He put his head in his hands.
“Oh, no.”
“Took the words right outta my mouth.”

I was thinking bout my boi Malik again (Obey Me Version) and what he’d think of all the bros.
[Fair warning, these will probably be mostly dirty lmao // not all but warning if you don’t like that stuff :3]
[Just for peeps that don’t know Malik, he’s a code vein oc with a demon’s eye. In the obey me verse, he is still a revenant. (Think Vampire with various powers if you don’t know what code vein is.
I do see him as a bit of an anti-hero, so he can come off as evil(?) but he’s got a good heart & usually makes good decisions ]
Lucifer:
Probably his favorite brother in terms of romance/love. He likes a challenge and Lucifer brings it all, along with a charming personality that hits Malik’s heart in the perfect way.
Loves his fashion sense & would honestly wear his suit one day if he let him.
Big on punishment. He loves to be defiant to Lucifer in the bedroom as he won’t submit easily. He enjoys being hurt (in a pleasurable way) as Lucifer tries to get him to submit.
Also loves when Lucy is in a softer mood and decides to leave his bites or hickies.
Loves how cute Lucifer looks when he’s sleeping and he loves it even more he’s the only one that can see it. - he would only take pictures if Lucifer gave him permission since he’s not one to take pictures much & if he did he wouldn’t share them on social media unless it was a normal date picture.
It honestly makes him very happy when Lucifer has his moments of jealously/possessiveness over him. He finds it cute.
Loves to help Lucifer cook things he’s bad at, but Lucifer is pretty resistant due to the hellfire mushroom cigar cookie incident.
Mammon:
Honestly don’t think he’s that annoying, but he will hang him upside down as well if he steals from him.
Actually feels bad for how he’s treated & tries to keep friendly relations with Mammon & keep the ridicule to a minimum.
Likes to to comfort mammon in the way of pets or cuddles if he’s feeling upset or hurt.
Does his best to help out Mammon when he’s in need of money, but levels the amount of yes and no so it doesn’t become a habit of bumming money off him.
Honestly wants to see Mammon piledrive someone naked like Levi told him he did once.
Mammon is more tsundere than Malik & because Malik is pretty dominant if you don’t know how to push back, he can easily be the dominant one here.
Often borrows Mammon’s glasses if he wants to look like a fuckboy
Leviathan:
Has no problems holeing himself up with Levithan in his room to play games or binge an anime.
Actually really likes his fish. If he watches them too long he will get sleepy
Likes Levi’s tail a bit too much. Levi can’t say no to him when he asks though because he enjoys how content Malik looks being curled in it.
fucking LOVES teasing Levi & how easy it is to make him climax with the smallest things.
Shares his anime spoils with Levi if he buys something.
cuddle buddy
Satan:
Solidarity
Satan and Malik get along pretty well considering Malik’s personality is close to Satans. The two also have friendly arguments because of this.
Satan and Malik tend to have pretty unique sex. Nothing as intense as with Lucifer, but more of a spicy love session that ends up with both of them being marked up.
Malik tries to help Satan with how he views himself, he is always open to listening to him rant or talk.
Malik loves giving Satan soft neck/face kisses and watching him get flustered.
Asmo:
Probably Malik’s least favorite brother, but does attempt to be friendly with him and listen/go along with his activities.
Asmo’s demeanor is a huge turn off for Malik. He really isn’t for the forceful way of flirting he does. He does try to express his feelings to asmo about this so he knows why he keeps his distance & hopes it will help Asmo calm down a bit.
He actually finds Asmo’s eye colors beautiful. (ofc his charm doesn’t work on malik)
Malik doesn’t mind him doing his nails, but he will not go to a nail salon.
Beel:
Trash food movie night with Beel on Friday nights.
Malik’s masochism is thrown out the window for Beel. Even though he knows he’s a living tank power wise, he can’t help but see him as a cinnamon roll that could kill him.
“Please carry me in your arms but don’t get seen.”
Beel is more than happy to sample Malik’s food when he tries out a new recipie.
Beel is probably the only one he will willingly bottom for (power bottom or regular bottom) simply because he is big and warm and he really loves how soft, but rough he is.
Belphie:
“Belphie, please stop being possessive. I’m right here and i’m sorry but i’m not exclusively yours and as you should know i’m banging pretty much all of your brothers.”
Honestly had fun trying to free Belphie since there was a lot of tension in sneaking up to talk to him everytime & risking the wrath of Lucifer.
Never trusted belphie when he first met him.
Loves sex with belphie when he actually goes all in. Otherwise he finds it boring unless he can get Belphie really loud when he’s topping. He doesn’t take too nicely to belphie falling asleep when they’re fucking.
DON’T COCKBLOCK ME BELPHIE!
*eyebrow twitches at belphie’s bratty behavior*
“If your teasing me, you better be ready to back it up. You fall asleep and I swear to god i’ll draw a dick on your face.”

If you were to invent something, what would it be? I don't know off the top of my head and I don't feel like sitting here- OH NO WAIT! Remember that one year deviantART's April Fools prank was that it produced some sort of technology where you could visualize a drawing, and by scanning your finger or some weird shit while you envisioned it, it could produce it on the screen? Yeah, something like that. I'd pay big bucks for something that could put my ideas on paper. Who would you like to get to know better? One of my RP partners that I've known since childhood. She's just extremely private online. What’s your favorite thing to order at a Chinese food restaurant? Pork fried rice is my jam. What is the meaning of life? I don't pretend to know anymore. I think everyone gives their life its own meaning based on values, goals, beliefs, etc. Do you prefer cupcakes or muffins? That's hard, man. Depends on the kind, I guess. What is the funniest movie you’ve seen in your whole entire lifetime? White Chicks never fails to get me. What’s the worst nightmare you’ve ever had? My dad about to molest me. What’s your favorite amusement park ride? Merry-go-rounds lmao. Who are your musical influences? This seems like a question for an aspiring musician, which I'm not. What’s the best pick-up line that’s ever been tried on you? I don't know if anyone's ever tried one on me. How many drinks can you handle? I wouldn't really know as I've never reached the point of being drunk, but seemingly quite a few. Weak ones, anyway. If it has a high alcohol concentration, I'm not drinking that shit. What was the longest phone conversation you’ve ever had? Idk, most of the afternoon or evening. I think one occasion with an old best friend went past five hours. Do you know where you want to go to college? I'm happy at my current college. They care a lot about their students. Are you satisfied with the picture on your ID card? Permit, fuck no. School ID, it's alright. What fruit did you last eat? An apple. Aside from yourself, who was the last person to see you naked? My mom. How many classes are you taking? Four, currently. Jumping up to six next semester... though not really by choice. My adviser wants me to have like a safety net by having two classes I CAN drop if I need to, but she's realistic in pointing out that the school path I visualize doable for me will be a VERY slow one and ultimately cost so, so much more money, so she wants to nudge me along as best she can while keeping my limitations in mind. I'm definitely going to try the best I can to do this in four years, but yeah... unlikely. But that's okay to me, so long I get there in not TOO long of a time. Have you ever lost anything down a toilet? I don't think so... but I do recall when my older sister was tiny she flushed a little toy truck down the toilet. We had to get a plumber to save it lmao. I think my mom has kept the truck. Are you someone’s best friend? One of hers. Do you have any goldfishes? No. Have you ever had a pet that you disliked? I absolutely hate my sister's dog that for whatever fucking reason lives with Mom and me. Why we keep a dog that does nothing but annoy us and piss us off is a subject of more than frequent arguing. When was the last time you saw hail? I don't know, a long time ago. What color eyes do you prefer: Green or Brown? Green. Have you ever given a nickname to your pet(s)? Oh yeah. Of my living ones, I call Venus "Miss Venus" and "pretty girl" a whole lot, while Teddy has a whole lot, but mostly "booga," "bub(by)," "boogie," and "Teddy-boo." I just call Roman "butt" a lot, lmao. I don't really have a common one for Mitsu, but I sometimes use "baby girl," I think. Ever been on a boat before? Like, fishing boats. Which is better: Skiing or Snowboarding? I wouldn't know, never tried either. Can you change the oil on a car? I have no clue how. Ever ran out of gas? Not while I myself was driving. I don't even know if I've ever been in the car while that's happened. Favorite kind of sandwich? Most of the time just an 'ole pb&j. Best thing to eat for breakfast? mmmmmmm cinnamon rolls are the GOOD SHIT. Are you horny? Nah. Do you have any magazine subscriptions? Nope. Which are better legos or lincoln logs? Lincoln logs or GET OUT. Are you stubborn? Yeah, most of the time. Are you afraid of heights? YEAH. Ever used a gun? Nooooo and I don't want to. Last time you got a portrait taken by a photographer? Idk if the guy who did my school ID card was an actual photographer? I dunno? Ever eat a pierogi? I hate those goddamn pockets of disgust. Favorite type of fruit pie? I dun like pie. I used to be okay with apple, though. Do you believe in ghosts? 110%. Ever have a deja-vu feeling? Yes because our world is just a simulation and it's a glitch- (I'm only semi-kidding btw idk I kinda believe it) Why do you think others get deja-vu? Because our world is just a simulation and it's a glitch- Take a vitamin daily? No. I need to, though. Wear a bath robe? No, I get dressed right after the shower. What do you wear to bed? Pajama pants and a tank top. First concert? Alice Cooper. Outside. During a thunderstorm. Shit was badass. Peanuts or sunflower seeds? Both are ew. I can handle a little bit of peanut better, though. Ever take dance lessons? I grew up taking a lot through middle school and some of high school. I tooook... clogging (I was embarrassingly good at that omg), jazz, modern (my fave), lyrical very briefly 'cuz I am NOT graceful, and hip hop. I always hated the music, but the dancing itself is fun. Is there a profession you picture your future spouse doing? No. They can do whatever they aspire to. Have you ever cried because you were so happy? Yeah. Own any record albums? Not anymore, Mom sold them. I wish I had them now, ahhhh. I love 'em. Own a record player? No. Who would you like to see in concert? I am seeing Ozzy next year or I will fucking riot, Metallica, and Rammstein. Many others would be cool, but those are the biggies. I'd love to see Manson and Otep, but their shows are... yeah. They do gross and/or really disrespectful shit. Hot tea or cold tea? THERE ARE SO MANY TEA OR COFFEE QUESTIONS IN SURVEYS but they tend to be different so I just keep them in alsdjf;awe. The usual: I hate tea. Can you swim well? I guess I swim fine? DJ or band, at a wedding? DJ. I want a variety of music. Ever won a contest? A few, don't feel like trying to remember 'em. Ever have plastic surgery? No. Which are better black or green olives? Olives are fucking gross. Best room for a fireplace? Living room. Who was your high school crush? My first was either Sebastian or Kyle. Or Girt. Then Juan, though that crush was questionable if it was serious or not. He really flattered me a lot, but I've told the story before plenty. Idk if the emotion was romantically reciprocated, though honestly I think it was mostly because of his reputation? I only knew him as extremely sweet. BUT ANYWAY, after that, do I even need to say "Jason?" When he came along, whether or not I really liked Juan was totally forgotten. What do you believe happens to us after death? Hell if I know. Have you ever cheated on someone? No. Does the thought of growing old frighten you? More like the thought of my body deteriorating does. Have you ever hurt someone for your own entertainment? um the fuck. I've done it out of heartbreak and pain, but never for my entertainment. What is your favorite song of all time? Of all time, probably "False Flags" by Massive Attack. Has anyone you’ve known died on a holiday? Possibly, idk. If you could write a book, what would it be about? Sometimes I wish I could make a series out of the meerkat RP I engage in, but I don't have the motivation or dedication for that. And I wouldn't be comfortable revising our "tribute" characters for the sake of legality and just respect in general. What are some lyrics that speak to your soul? "For such a little thing, you sure are in your own way" from a Mother Mother song. I'm not exactly small for a human ha ha, but in the scope of the universe perspective, we're all less than microscopic. Have you ever been in love with more than one person at the same time? Not in love, not. Attracted to, yeah. What is the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to you? I remember, though it's a tad blurry, the occasion I was having a serious "grieving session" for Jason at Colleen's house, and her sister was there alone with me. She was talking me through it and grabbed my shoulders at one point, looked me dead in the eye, and told me so firmly yet gently how beautiful a person I was and that I deserved the world and more. I won't forget that, like ever. Do you have any taboo fetishes or preferences? No. What is the thing you are most ashamed of? I've talked about this enough. Well, that or just being a general "this is all your goddamn fault and I am the only victim here" cunt to Jason following the breakup. Actually, yeah, I'm probably more ashamed of that. What is the emotion you seem to feel most strongly? Hm. Embarrassment? Heartbreak? Love? Idk. Do you think of yourself as a unique person? Yeah, honestly. I mean not incredibly, but unique, yeah. What is a movie from childhood that you loved? I've talked about TLK and Finding Nemo and that kinda stuff a lot, so here's a STUPIDLY underrated one: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron. That movie is fuckin beautiful wtf. Are you afraid of death? Aren't we all at least to a small degree? What are your top three biggest fears, actually? Losing my mom, being raped, and all those I love just abandoning me. Do you have an accent of any kind? You can detect a Southern one sometimes. What do you want to be remembered for? Sending a message of love, especially to animals. Are you currently sad about anything? I am literally permanently sad about my weight, though it's not like, an *active* sadness at this very moment? Have you ever changed your spiritual beliefs? Three times now. Catholic to Christian to theist. What is your favorite alcoholic drink? MARGARITAS gotDAMN Do you ever talk to yourself? Sure. Have you ever cried yourself to sleep in your adult life? Oh yeah. What do you think is the meanest thing you’ve ever said to someone? "Thanks for sending me to the ER again." Fucking bitch. Do you have a favorite book? If so, how many times have you read it? Johnny Got His Gun and The Outsiders. Only read both once. I almost never read a book more than that. Have you ever wished you were from another country? Half the time, especially as an adult, I wish I lived in Canada. What are you thinking about currently? My throat is absolutely killing me and I'm ready to leave school. What is a subject that makes you uncomfortable to speak about? I'm more uncomfortable talking about sex than I used to think. Do you have anything you are extremely particular about? When I'm in the passenger seat controlling the music? Oh my god, Mom, DON'T turn the volume down manually. I can do that on my iPod myself, but can only turn it back UP but so loud as it gets lower by the car itself. She knows I turn it down when we're talking, she is, or we slow down, but she does it anyway sometimes and I get unreasonably annoyed by it. Have you ever seen the ocean? Only the Atlantic. What is your most fond memory of your current S.O, if applicable? THE FIRST KISS Y'ALL it was fuckin CHEESY but I LOVE IT Do you find yourself confused often? Oh hell yeah. What was the best time of your life? It's so funny to me how I can answer "2017," the very same year I OD'd. That's rapid growth, my friend. Have you ever been on a cruise? No. Do you miss any of your exes? I only miss the memories of him. Are you religious? I mean I believe in some ultimate creator, but I don't really like calling myself "religious" anymore. I don't worship it, I don't pray to it. I'm thankful to exist, but that's. It, I guess. ANY entity I would respect wouldn't demand me to kiss its feet. Do you think you are attractive? HELL NO. How many people have you slept with? Do you mean like, as in having sex? One. Slightly fooled around with, two, including the previously-mentioned guy. Do you consider yourself a catch? Besides my looks, I do think I'm a good girlfriend. What kind of sauce do you eat your chicken nuggets with? Honey mustard, actual mustard... that kinda stuff. What do you think you could do to improve your life? Get a goddamn job, I'm just really not capable right now. What song is playing right now? "Hag" by Otep. What is your LJ name? I don't have a LiveJournal. I don't even want to EXIST on the same site with a particular fat-headed, bigoted fuck of a bitch. Holy shit I've nearly made an account multiple times JUST to talk that cunt back to Earth. What was the most recent movie you watched? UHHHHHHHH I don't remember actually. How many times have you got stitches? UHHHH twice or thrice? What are your pets’ species and names? I'm excluding the dog I hate because he's not even "mine." Teddy is a beagle/cocker spaniel/probably something else mix. Roman is a cat mix; he seems to have Siamese or something similar in 'im. Mitsu is a fancy rat. Venus is a champagne ball python. What is your most recent musical crush? Mark is a fucking singer, DON'T EVEN @ ME ABOUT IT. Which is better; immense heat or extreme coldness? God, the latter. I literally can't handle like anything above 70 for even like 10 minutes. It's not just that I find heat uncomfortable, but I sweat to a disgusting degree and get extremely weak, dizzy, and sometimes nauseous. Do you have a disease? Just mental ones. I have at least one physical disorder, but not a disease. Do you like gore? BITCH yes. Especially in art. It's the smell irl I can't really handle, as well as seeing like, human gore, but also exclusively in the real world. It feels too personal and close to home, y'know? Do you stutter? YEP. Name a cool person you have lost touch with? Megan, particularly. Who was the friendliest person you have met on the internet? MAN, I don't know if I could pick!! Maybe uhhhh... Megan again? She was nice to like... everyone. Or Connie for the same reason, and she's also chill as hell. I really don't know, I've met a load of great people. Name a song that is overplayed. I don't listen to the radio, so. What websites do you visit frequently? Kalahari Manor, deviantART, YouTube, Facebook, the Silent Hill wiki to make sure it's not exploding from mental cases again to not make it to fucking video game and horror sites/blogs again, and especially lately, Tumblr. There's more, but those are the regularly frequent ones. Does counting sheep help you fall asleep? Never tried. What is the biggest mystery? Where the universe came from and why.

Dec 24
Words: 1 941 Prompt from @fanficy-prompts
You leant back against the counter of the empty coffee shop, adjusting the black apron which was tied around your waist. It was Christmas Eve, and since you were the only employee of the small coffee shop who did not have any big Christmas dinner plans, you had been given the last shift of the day, which tied you to the cozy, but now lonely shop until midnight. Then you could close up, and go home. Your family lived half way across the country, and this year there had not been enough money left for you to fly over for the holidays, so you had decided to stay here.
You wondered why you were even longing to go back home after this shift. What was waiting there for you except the halfheartedly decorated Christmas tree, and the now cold Chinese take-out from lunch? Your bed, with soft, cozy but cold blankets, no one to keep them warm while you were at work, no one to welcome you home, not even a cat who would cuddle with you when you sat down, or a fish who would completely ignore you. But the way it was, the flat was as empty as this shop, but less decorated. Well, Christmas this year officially sucked.
None the less, you automatically put on your customer smile and turned towards the door as you heard the bell ring. The artificial smile was immediately replaced by a real one though once you recognized the red-brown hair, and the icy gray eyes of one of your favorite regulars.
“Merry Christmas,” you smiled as Andy walked over to the counter, “The usual?”
He nodded, and strode over to a table in the corner next to the window. You furrowed your brows. Usually the tattooed drummer was quiet but cheerful, and always up for a little chat. Today seemed different though, and remembering that it was not the normal Christmas Eve tradition to go to a coffee shop, mind on your own, made you understand him better. After all you had not been in the best of moods either before he entered. And you could not expect to have the same effect on him as he had on you, considering you had grown quite fond of the man.
You prepared two cups of cappuccino with almond milk, one for him, one for you, and emptied a bag of vegan Christmas cookies that were on sale, onto a small plate before stepping out from behind the counter, and strode over to him.
Andy looked up, his gaze softening as he saw you, and even a smile tucking at his lips when you sat down opposite him. You pushed his cup over to him, and placed the plate with the cookies in the middle between the two of you.
“On the house,” you winked, making him finally smile properly.
The coffee shop was dimly lit, mostly relying on the many candles that were spread over the tables and the atmospheric lighting across the counter.
“Sooo…” you dragged out the word, looking at Andy who took a sip from his coffee, “what brings you here?”
He sighed quietly and shrugged.
“Family dinner spontaneously got canceled because my dad broke his ankle, and I got nowhere to be really,” he answered.
“So you decide to go to a coffee shop of all places,” you asked, raising your eyebrows at him.
“I was lonely,” he defended, “and I was kind of hoping you would be the cursed one to do this shift.”
You smiled at his confession which had made him look away in embarrassment.
“Since I got no Christmas party to attend to either, and sitting here with you is a lot better than sitting at home on my own, I doubt this shift is really cursed,” you joked, before quickly taking a sip of your hot beverage as well, hoping to play over the fact that you had been a lot more confident with your words than you felt. It had not been a lie, no, not at all, but usually you were not one to say these things out loud.
Andy did not seem to mind, because he only smiled softly.
With him as company time passed quickly, and the conversation you were having made you almost forget how sad your empty apartment would seem when you returned home. He was the only customer over the entire evening, the city seemed like a ghost town, not a single person walked past the shop windows, and only one car sped down the road with howling motor. It felt like the two of you were in your own little, private bubble, surrounded by the warm glow of candles, and the rich smell of ground coffee with cinnamon. There was lots of laughing, jokes, funny stories, sometimes even the one or the other shared painful memory, but tonight it seemed alright, tonight it was okay to share these things, to talk more than usual, to open up to one another, to lay bare your hearts.
Honestly you had no recollection when, how or why Andy had taken hold of your hand, but it did not matter. His tattooed hands were wrapped around your cold fingers, and it felt like your skin was sucking up every last drop of his warmth that was possible. Your chin was resting in your free hand, supported by your elbow resting against the table, and Andy was leaning over the table as well. Only a few inches were between your faces, and your talking had died down to a whisper, which slowly subsided after hours, leaving you to stare at each other.
You had never looked into anyone’s eyes for as long as you were looking into Andy’s now. Every detail of his face seemed to burn itself permanently into your memory, and if you had not been in love with the drummer before he entered the shop this evening, you sure as hell were now. Sometimes you had to remind yourself that breathing was an, admittedly annoying, but necessary thing to do, too engulfed were you by Andy’s eyes, which seemed to see right through you, into the bottom of your soul.
You did not know what to think of this, but then again you were not properly thinking at all anyway. It felt like you were hypnotized by the man in front of you, and all you really could think of, was how beautiful and kind he was, and how lucky you were that you did not have to spend Christmas Eve entirely on you own.
Your trance was rudely interrupted by the small alarm clock on the counter that signaled the end of your shift.
“Seems like you made it,” Andy grinned, suddenly sitting back, drawing his hands away from yours, which left them colder than before.
“Seems like it,” you nodded, and got up.
“Want me to help you clean up,” he offered, but you shook your head.
“It’s fine, there’s not much left to do,” you explained while picking up the cups and the now empty plate, carrying everything behind the counter.
You somehow had expected Andy to leave, maybe say good night, or even hug you, but instead he waited patiently while you cleaned the dishes and the coffee machine. He even grabbed a towel and insisted on whipping the counter clean.
Once you were finished with all the cleaning and preparing the shop for opening in the morning, you grabbed your coat, and joined Andy at the door, where he had waited.
“Are you going home now,” Andy asked, holding the door open for you as you stepped outside, pulling your keys to the shop out of your pocket.
“Not much else to do, is there?”
With experienced fingers you looked the door.
You really did not want to return home. After having spent so much time with Andy, the empty flat seemed to repel you more than it had at the beginning of the evening. Did you really want to go back to the cold Chinese take-out, the halfheartedly decorated Christmas tree, the cold blankets? Secretly you hoped Andy would ask to join you home, to do something together, so you would not have to go home. Should you ask him to come home with you, invite him for another coffee, maybe tea or mulled wine? You were certain you would even face the embarrassment of rejection just to be sure you had tried everything possible. Your thoughts were interrupted by Andy.
“Anyone waiting for you,” he asked.
The question surprised you. You were sure you had mentioned that you were alone, without partner or any kind of family. Quickly you shook your head, wondering what he was up to.
A small smile spread over Andy’s face as he continued talking.
“Good,” he whispered as he stepped a little closer to you, taking your hands in his.
They were warm, just like you remembered them from when you had sat inside. His fingers were gentle as they closed around yours tenderly, not at all holding on too tightly. Your own hands responded without much consent of your brain, intertwining with his.
You wanted to say something, tell Andy how much you had enjoyed tonight, how thankful you were for his company, how much it meant to you that he had come to see you, but your voice failed you, no words coming out of your mouth.
Andy’s eyes were fixed on yours, and he seemed to sense your sudden muteness, but only smiled a little, shaking his head.
You were not sure who had leant in, maybe both of you at the same time, but suddenly Andy and you were kissing underneath the lamp post in front of the coffee shop. It was slow and gentle, careful, almost scared, but so perfect, so warm and loving, and you felt like all the sadness of having to go back to your flat was melting away, all the worries were suddenly just gone. Andy was kissing you, and holding your hands, and it felt like this was all you had ever wanted.
When you broke away, cheeks and lips red, rigid breath from excitement, and eyes closed, you gently leant your forehead against Andy’s, not yet willing to give up the warmth and comfort he was radiating.
“Come back to my place,” he whispered, and you could tell he was nervous.
A smile tucked at your lips, and you nodded against his forehead.
“’d love to,” you answered, finally opening your eyes and meeting Andy’s grey ones, that shone with such happiness, that it warmed you all over again.
“Then let’s go,” he decided, letting go of your one hand so you could walk side by side.
You adjusted your grip on his fingers, shoving your now free hand into your coat pocket. Andy smiled and did the same, before he lead you down the street, past windows with Christmas decorations and past the square where a fir tree had been decorated extensively.
Quietly you sighed in contentment, and rested your head against Andy’s shoulder. The long day had exhausted you, and now that you even had someone by your side, tiredness started to spread through your body. You were glad to have taken the night shift for Christmas Eve, you realized; otherwise Andy and you would never have ended up here, together. You closed your eyes, allowing your feet to carry you blindly, and trusting Andy to safely lead the way. This Christmas had not at all been as lonely and sad as you had expected it to be.

Favorite Things:
a) Making s’mores over an open fire, most preferably when it’s very cold outside and I have to cover myself with a blanket. b) Petrichor. The smell and sound of rain, most preferably paired with chocolate abuelita and a good book. c) Traveling, but I think that’s a given. I really want to travel to Oregon by the end of this year, just because it’s been years since I’ve gone. I want to explore little shops and practice landscape drawing, maybe break in my new colored pencils with rough sketches of trees rich with ochre and vermilion. d) Talking to older folks. Just because I find comfort in their wisdom and find solace in their words, finding reassurance in the fact that one day, this too shall pass. e) The smell of old books, I like fingering through the tattered pages and breathing its distinct musk. f) The holidays, and this is somewhat irritating to some. I come alive during the holiday season because though we didn’t have much growing up, my sisters always tried their best to make this time as magical as possible for me. Sometimes we would stay up late making forts and listening to Christmas music, drinking chocolate and eating pan dulce. So I associate that time of year with nothing but joy. g) Hearing babies laugh. I love babies and I can’t wait for my sister to give birth next year. I always had to take care of my little nephews and niece so I get this maternal surge whenever I am around children. h) Dogs. Except not Pomeranians because my sister had an annoying little pomeranian that humped my puppy when I was a kid so I just stayed with this weird little vendetta towards all pomeranians. Plus they’re too fluffy and small and they get those eye boogers, ugh. i) My mom’s distinct scent of maple sugar, cinnamon, and cocoa butter. j) Any type of seafood, just because it takes me back to summers spent in Honduras and days spent fishing and looking for almejas. But I guess tostadas de ceviche are my favorite, especially with shrimp and octopus and loads and loads of limon. k) Dancing to cumbias early Sunday mornings as I’m cleaning the house. l) Watching someone’s face as they’re surprised with something they’ve been wanting for a very long time. Or just getting anything for anyone, it’s nice making people happy y’know? m) Being alone. I don’t fancy being lonely, but when I do need to be alone, I cherish that time. I don’t care if it’s out and about with my bike, or just walking through an unknown city, or even just in my room while no one’s home. I love being by myself and giving myself some time to recharge. n) Sunflowers. Or any type of flower, really. But I gravitate more towards sunflowers and tulips because they’re so bright. I can’t wait to have my own place because it’s going to be fragrant and bright with flowers. o) Going to mass when I choose to. It’s rare that I go, to be honest. But the times that I choose to go on my own, I come back feeling a little more peaceful. But I keep those moments to myself, because my faith is private. And it’s something that I still struggle with... p) The smell of the ocean, particularly at night. I love the beach, the sound of the crashing waves, the gentle mist of the sea. When I was younger I’d love making the trip on my bike and I’d trudge along with my big ass bike until I reached the shore. Then I’d plop down and stay until I felt myself shudder from the cold. q) Grand Teton National Park in the wintertime. r) Horseback riding, at full speed. s) Baking anything from cookies to banana nut bread. Well, actually just cooking in general. More so for others, I mean if it was up to me I’d just live off of vegetables and fruit because I’m about that lazy life but I love being creative cooking for others. I guess I just like taking care of people. t) Running, particularly in the morning. I mean I love the gym and all but nothing beats a long jog in the morning. It’s even better if it’s a brisk Fall day or something because I hate jogging outside in the summertime. u) Cold weather because I get to layer up and wear knitted sweaters and scarves, beanies, and mittens. Although it’s a pain in the ass too because I have shitty lungs and if I don’t layer up well enough I end up with a lung infection for literally nothing. v) Red lipstick paired with a white dress and heels. w) Roller coasters, except I hate waiting for an hour and a half for such a short experience. I actually have a love/hate relationship with amusement parks. x) Seattle, Washington. y) Brown eyes. z) Cinnamon rolls from the 24th Street Cafe.

❀ self para ❀ ❀ graph - 𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 (january 2018) wrd count; ~1,686
“it’s a shame that there’s snow today,” taeyang observes, tightening his grip on the ceramic bowls left behind by a certain foursome from an early lunch. after they clatter to the sink from his disposal, he gathers another set of dishes, four mugs, some filled with now cold green tea and others coffee, cradling them in one arm and turning the dial of his old-fashioned radio to ‘off’ with his free hand. he has no time to be distracted by the slowly gathering powdered snow outside, as nice as he might have found it a month ago. it reminded him of the catholic christmases spent back home, cutting daikon radishes and soaking rice for a tableside dinner while jesus’ manger rocked close to the brick fireplace in the family sitting room. the squeal was a comfort against the scary wind blowing outside warping the windows in on themselves. the little wooden manger was a project of his father’s and taeyang didn’t care much for the meaning of it as a kid once it was finished as much as he cared about the mesmerizing rocking it gave from side to side.
‘it’d make a nice folksy piece in the living room now,’ he realizes after finishing the risky journey to the kitchen and planting himself in the center of the living room to assess the rest of the mess left around. other than the smell of stale coffee and expensive cologne, the flat is back to the normalcy of usual, and misha and cain, dogs more lax than their sentimental owner, burrow themselves under the large piano reflected in the walls of glass windows of the room. it’s a pinterest worthy sight, especially with the tall order of bamboo plants winding up the sides of the scene and meeting ferns hanging from the walls. beneath the feet of the piano, a large rug, nordic print and low-cut unlike the large white shag one in taeyang’s bedroom, catches the water that overflows from them from time and makes a good ground for the ladder taeyang stands to reach the hung arrangements. that, and the struggle of feeding the koi fish in the large tank opposite the windows and past the kitten gray-colored couch that taesung and haejun crammed themselves onto not too long ago, were just a few of the banes of taeyang’s height.
“they cleaned me out, guys,” taeyang sighs to his pups, crouching by the piano and petting them through oversized sleeves after hiking up his glasses. “it’s high time i fill these cabinets anyways. you guys need more food, hungry fiends,” he continues, nodding to himself as if their watery eyes and eager ears are an answer to his musing. if anything it warrants a good scratching behind the ears for each of them and shrugs himself into a dark sweater and black mask to boot, diving down to the parking garage to walk to the overpriced market closer to the heart of gangnam than his enclosed housing complex.
a bundle of carnation colored envelopes sit on the gray stained wood coffee table once holding the boys’ mugs from earlier, abandoned by taeyang for the last five days; they eye his boots as they clip the door upon leaving and the open door resolves with a bark from the dogs.
-
the convenience store is near empty this time of the evening, not that the high prices draw in many people besides someone like taeyang anyways. people want to buy bulk beef at low prices and don’t care how much tug it gives. a decade ago he might’ve agreed, before his tastes got expensive. even then, the rich and bored folk living in the penthouses just feet away from the market go cheap with their meat or settle for noodles. taeyang’s never liked a person who couldn’t cook for himself, whether they ate with a silver spoon or not.
he supposes him and his little plastic basket full of black truffle and white bok choy are inseparable that way.
taeyang doesn’t pick up too much, just a parcel of fish, bones in for soup, more vegetables, ingredients for dog snacks, and a great deal of candies and cakes that wait for the cartons of milk he’s eying up in the dairy aisles. his lips turn in on themselves in conclusively and he pulls his mask down, no fan or dust threat here, to take a deep breath of the cold air. ‘is bagged milk better?’ he’s asking himself as he gathers a carton of milk, two actually, one strawberry, and nestles it in between his matcha custard snack cakes and boxes of water before paying.
his black card doesn’t see the light as much as it used to. cash is more humbling and reminds him more of a simpler time than those of the rolex in his jewelry box back home unworn for a year. he’s thought about pawning it a few times, but knows it would draw attention of anyone was more meddlesome than they needed to be. something about the idea of the ghost of the media, decipher’s taeyang, going broke and losing control over his life would be a good ten pager for bc-anti netizens to gnaw at on exclusive, he’s sure of it. so his greens and sweets get paid for in won bills and he’s on his walk back home, mask replaced.
there’s nothing more refreshing to him than being able to stroll down the street, unwatched and unfilmed, and for once a slice of normalcy presides over his life.
-
after the groceries are packed away and the puppies are fed, taeyang finally puts his feet up. for the majority of his worries to center around entertaining his brothers and taking care of pets is a softening fact, like the bulbs of his tulips he notices opening prematurely, and he can’t help but crack a smile at the blank television staring at him. he’d comment about the size of the thing feeling imposing if the sudden appearance of the letters in the corner of his eye, once in his blind spot, didn’t knot a cherry stem in the pit of his stomach.
‘taeyang,’ his name hangs on the envelope like the planters from his ceilings, ink shaky and ‘g’ dangling on the head of the envelope from a frail writing hand. there’s a dove drawn on the side of the parchment and a decalcomanie-fashioned family seal presses itself in the upper corner. he knows where it’s from at first sight, and perhaps he knew earlier when tossing the mail to its deathbed in the first place.
either way, he’s calm enough by the time he grabs the letter up now and breaks the seal, rolling his thumb over the stationary. the texture is like old litmus paper and feelings soft under his thumb, and the heady scent of ink and leaflets is a familiar essence that makes his stomach hurt.
“my mochi,” taeyang sighs aloud with his mother’s tone in mind.
“you’ve grown so big.” (he appreciates the lie. it’s always been her favorite.) i headed to seoul recently, since your father refuses to deal with the city. i thought to buy my first phone in years, but i think our little landline at home is enough. i know you won’t answer my calls anymore, and that’s okay, but seeing your face all over the city made my heart soar. it’s perhaps why i almost bought the phone. i want to hear your music, i want to see you, i want to know how your career’s going. do you still model? how are your group members? are you all eating well? i bet they’ve grown too since the last time you’ve mailed us photos of you all. they’re not as old as they think they are. your father is the one getting old, i think. he’s complaining about his back and gray hairs that suddenly bother him. i want to tell him that they’ve always been there. well. please write me back. button and mang miss you very much. (his former horses) did you know mang gave birth? you can call the landline xx-xxxx if you’d like to know more. stay healthy and eat well, my big strong ricecake. mom.”
misha and cain are nuzzling their heads in taeyang’s lap by the time he finishes the letters. he hasn’t talked to his mother in years, and smoothing his thumbs over the photos of the new foal of his old horse bloats his stomach further, a cinnamon feeling like tears burning in his eyes. the photo is more painful than the guilty of a rolex or a black card, and the empty mugs sitting on the drying rack in the kitchen are a painful reminder of how lonely he is. his parents refuse to move to the city, no matter how much money he sends back to them. his mother didn’t even let him know she was in the city. the hours long distance between the farm and seoul is worth the re-opening of decade deep wounds, worth any scheduling inconvenience in the world. how he’d long to have his mom count his freckles, to meet his dogs and comment about how much he hasn’t changed after all. how much he’d long to show her off to his brothers and watch them blanch away from her kisses.
the limelight and the distance have burned him and the high of his career, once built higher than his nineteenth floor residency, sinks the letter to the floor in ashes. his hands don’t bother to shift through them and the cinnamon in his eyes turns quickly to hot and salty tears that stop short of his chin and make him look like nothing more than a child. he hiccups loudly in the lonesome house, uncaring of his masculinity being compromised, or the loudness of his sobs over his ringing phone. he’s always been emotional and once his faucet is turned on, he doesn’t stop.
on the couch, he falls asleep rocking himself back and forth like jesus’ manger in his old home, calling out to mary and joseph and the crystal snow.
he knew he shouldn’t have opened that letter. |
