Okay so basically the United States MINT of all people is going to be working with DC to make a line of coins! These coins sadly won't be in circulation (the things I would do to live in a world where I could get Batman coins from the supermarket) as they're collectors coins, but will be releasing over the course of the next 3 years, 2025-2027.

Designs haven't been released yet (the same is true for all 2025 designs) but we know there will be 9 coins in total (3 each year) with the first year featuring (of course!!!) Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Although we know the first three heroes to be featured, the remaining six have yet to be decided, and it turns out the Mint is putting out a survey on their site to gauge which of a group of culturally significant heroes people want to see most! (link to the form is mentioned in the article above)

The considered group includes: Supergirl, the Flash, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Captain Marvel, John Stewart GL, Aquaman, Hawkman, Jamie Reyes BB, Robin (Damian?), Cyborg, and Batgirl, of which 6 will be selected.

As someone who does a bit of coin collecting myself (mainly circulation coins like the quarters sets, but I also have a couple proof and collectors coins) I think this is a really cool and interesting idea that showcases the history of the comics medium and these characters and their influence on American culture. Really excited to wait and see what the designs look like for the coins already announced!

#ABSOLUTELY INSANE TO ME #sorry just. only thing that could make this crazier is if these were circulating. i would fucking die actually lmao #i mean you could buy something with one of these legally but like youre an idiot if you do that so likeeee #someone showing up with the solid gold superman collector coin and its only legally worth a dollar lmao #not that someone would do this but future generations/archeologists finding a coin in some ruins and it just has like. batman on it #amazing to me #also just the transition from us currency having all fake people (lady liberty some random native american guy etc.) and then going to real #people and presidents then expanding that to honor people that they believe should be honored (think the harriet tubman coin set right now)#and representing beauty and innovation and culture through representation of the states #only through that lens to swing back around and have fake people on the coins again in the form of the freaking dc trinity. insane to me #no one ever gets me when im nerding out over coins its okay. at least its not postage stamps (i actually do have some special postage stamps #its like 1 sheet though it was for the 2017 eclipse and the image changes from totality to the moon with the heat of your finger theyre so #cool okay) anyways i like dont really know that much abt coins lol i originally saw a post abt this on reddit 💀 lol and had to check this #was real which is insane. anyways my dad got my all my coin stuff ive got a proof set from the year i was born albums to hold the 50 states #and national parks (america the beautiful but its 90% natl park designs lets be honest here) quarter collections as i find them irl #(dont have an album for us women yet sadly but do have some of the coins) as well as a few dimes and other circulation albums i havent used #much. and then i have a few collectibles like the hubble telescope $1 coin the 50th anniversary apollo 11 one and the 2021 anniversary peace #dollar. though like not the gold ones or anything like that lol but yeah. i talk abt coins every once and a while with friends and i know #things but then my dad is in the car and its like nevermind lol.#also put a ? after damian's name bc theres a chance it could be dick and they just used the wrong picture. because some of the character #bios had names but his didnt and seemed very dick grayson (acrobatics mention “batman's partner” etc) but not so specfic exclude either one #and the pick was damian. but then the ollie pick was goateeless for some reason so who knows #culturally dick is more important but dami is current so idk #dc comics #blah #ive really been learning so much today. first all in announcement and subsequent leaks and now this. what a ride #also love how im anticipating and know future comics things lol. when did that happen haha. ive really transitioned from only reading back #issues and never knowing current events to following a lot of releases lol and somehow finding out about the freaking coin collection...#crazy how that happens #cant scroll up at that first image without losing it a bit still actually. what a world we live in. anyways take your bets who is gonna be

“Do you think it’s possible to parkour all the way down to the ground floor from here?” Thade said, leaning against the railing at the edge of the open space that cut all the way down to said ground floor.

“Maybe,” Caladea said, barely looking up from her phone.

He grinned. “You think I should try?”

She looked up for real. “No, you can’t parkour.”

“I can totally parkour,” he said, pushing himself up on his arms so that his hips rested against the top of the railing. He brought one sandaled foot up between his hands—he wasn’t going to go further than crouching on the rail, because he couldn’t parkour, but his foot slipped out from under him and his arms betrayed him and he found himself bent double over the railing, clinging to the slats, his feet barely skimming the carpet. The fourth floor suddenly looked very high up.

“Okay, I take it back,” he said. “Can you help me?” If he’d been with anyone but Caladea, they probably would have left him there to think about his actions for a while, but she came over right away to haul him back up by his pants waistband. Which would have worked if he hadn’t chosen this moment to be wearing sweatpants. Instead of helping, she just pulled down his pants, and he suspected also his boxer briefs.

“Oh no, I’m sorry,” she said like it was an accident, but she was also giggling.

“Callie, you better not be filming this.”

“I’m not.” Giggle giggle. She must be, because she certainly wasn’t helping him. He kicked his legs a little bit and felt a cold rush of fear as he shifted forward on the rail. Well, this was fine. He could just work his way back up the slats with his hands, and he would eventually slide back onto the floor. It wouldn’t be easy, but it would be faster. He’d hardly started when he felt familiar rough-edged hands on his hips and he was ungraciously pulled back upright. As his blood stopped pooling in his head, he beheld Pirianus standing there, frowning as always. That is, until Caladea showed him something on her phone, and he cracked a tiny blue-edged smile.

“Thanks,” Thade said with zero gratitude, pulling up his stupid sweatpants. Before he could escape these two chucklefucks, though, Caladea turned her phone on him, and he was met with a photo of himself stranded over the rail, his panicked face looking through the slats, and his hairy asscrack surrounded by ironic hearts and sparkles. Across the top was the word PARKOUR flanked with party poppers and flames.

“Great, thank you,” he said with a fake smile. It should have been funny. He should have been laughing—he could take a joke at his expense any day of the week—but instead he felt his cheeks burning. “I’ll get that put on my calling cards.”

He didn’t look at her or Pirianus as he walked away.

#it WAS an accident however. this did not stop her from taking the opportunity #this one actually made me feel kinda bad for him. because yeah normally he would laugh it off and be fine #in fact if Caladea had managed to get him back up onto the floor he would have been howling about that picture #“no put a clown emoji on my face. yes I promise not to fake parkour again” (this is a lie but it will be less dangerous next time)#that's really what she intended. Caladea is not a mean-spirited person #and shouldn't he have been able to see Pirianus's little smile and be fine anyway? but he knows Pirianus doesn't actually like him #and this otherwise hilarious situation is pouring piles of salt in that wound #so anyway I think Thade has spent most of the last thirteen years pining after someone who will not let him in in the slightest #so he laughs it off and is “fine” with it but this is going to be an absolute powder keg when Kiatcarmen dies #(on that note do you think their theme song is Total Eclipse of the Heart)#Marcus's polycule: tearful heartfelt reunion #Minaya's polycule: trying to hold it together through the funeral and coronation #Kiatcarmen's polycule: just two guys. fighting in the hallway. their husband and wife are ignoring them #(Marcus's polycule is betting on whether they're going to wrestle each other in the hallway tbh)#c: Thade #c: Caladea #c: Pirianus #wip: iecunem #rose writ #thade adventures #rose brambles

me making the sams/laes x cotl AU, 2024, colorised:

allow me to ramble for a bit because its been a week and my brain is Rotting with a capital R, i am now 100% commited to this thing my brain birthed to cope with its parents (me & my previous obsession, cult of the lamb) divorcing

the general idea is that lunar somehow digs up a crown from the trash heap when the gang is exploring a robot graveyard (see: post-apocalyptic vibes, i just think robot graveyards are such a cool concept i wanted one ok). anyway. none of them really know what the fuck this thing even is, except for solar maybe, who has like a general idea, just a hunch really, and it's not like he ever really saw the bishops from up close, right, he doesn't actually know what the crowns are, how they look like, etc. maybe its just a thing people draw that doesn't really exist, you know, like halos around the heads of some higher up cultists. besides, there's no fucking way lunar found one just, what, lying around, right? Right?

and when they try to get rid of it, because of course they do, it's obviously some old magic artefact, they have no goddamn idea what it does, seriously lunar, why are you going around picking up potentially deadly things you know nothing about, for fuck's sake, what if it KILLED you, (this is the sound of sun having a PTSD flashback to that one time lunar almost blew them all up because he picked up a magic equivalent of a bomb moon & solar were working on and yes, they both got chewed out for that one too)

anyway, they try to get rid of the crown, right, but it just. doesn't work. no matter how hard they throw/kick it, it always comes back. they can't break it. magic doesn't work. at some point it sticks itself to lunar's head and they can't pull it off.

they give up (after like a few days) because clearly there's nothing they can do and it isn't hurting lunar, for now, and honestly they have bigger problems on hand than some stupid floating crown that doesn't do shit. like idk the demon currently possessing sun ((because demons are a Thing in cotl that i constantly forget about when i go crusading. bruh)

it takes a while but eventually cultists start coming after them, like they already had some less than pleasant encounters & avoided them best they could, but now the cultists are coming specifically for them. or, more like, for lunar.

and then lunar dies, gets resurrected, and starts their own cult. fun
