i wouldn't call the solavellan ending happy.

i'd call it mythical.

it's beyond feeling at this point, the act of vanishing forever into the fade with your one true love to uphold the integrity of the veil isn't a "happy" ending as much as a deeply fated one.

lavellan loves solas, so, so deeply, she had no choice but to go with him. his duty becomes hers.

the feelings i feel the most about it are a sense of completion. their lives were never going to be happy. they are not happy people. they can find happiness in their circumstances, because they are together, because they chose their fates, but that is the only reason.

i don't think legends are ever happy, in the sense that they got everything they wanted from life. their fate is tied to their duty, which they chose. their duty keeps them from pursuing happiness they would have otherwise pursued without that duty.
