Tulsa, Oklahoma was the place to be in 1967 — there were pretty girls, a family bond like no other, and a rivalry that seeped into everyone’s bloodline by nature. In the midst of the summer, both the Socs and Greasers were itching to get their hands on something to do; the movies were getting repetitive and the beer only tasted good the first fifty times they were drank.

The Greasers were the outcasts from the West Side of Tulsa. They slicked their hair back with grease, wore ragged clothes, shotgunned beer like no other, and enjoyed the thrill of being in trouble.

The Socs, short for Socialites, were quite the opposite. They got their kicks from beating on the Greasers, throwing huge parties at their parent’s houses, and showing off the clothes they were wearing that were fully funded by their father’s paycheck.

Being apart of either group meant something different, but it all inevitably fell back on being a pack. The Greasers loved each other like siblings and would fight for each other like their lives depended on it, while the Socs considered themselves as mere acquaintances hated to see other Socs get mixed up with the Greasers.

In this Discord group roleplay, you will have the option to insert canon characters from the book (using their musical adaptation faceclaim or movie faceclaim), or create your very own character to slum it with either group. Both types of characters are heavily encouraged, though we always need canon characters. :)

PLEASE NOTE: This is an advanced literate to novella roleplay, meaning only folks that have those styles of writing will be welcome to apply; you must send an example of your writing in order to be approved to join the crew. This is only to ensure that you meet the writing requirement. There will be many channels to simply text as your character, but a roleplay element will be incorporated, as well.

if one were to -- hypothetically -- organise some sort of lowkey, small-scale, unofficial little group roleplay with a similar setup to what musicalhqs once used to be ( i.e. same plotline, same idea etc just small-scale and without any fancy main and active promoting, just a group of people roleplaying within the same setting ) would there be any interest in this ? even though it would be small-scale, a handful of interested roleplayers would be a nice start of a little group... give any sign if there is any interest, basically !

I think one reason why for most my life i've been so....obsessed with? interested in? that idea of working with another creative person and creating together (anything from art, videos, etc) is because i've never been able to form a real or solid human connection. even my closest friendships have left me feeling disconnected...at my core, i've come to raise creating is my main connection to this world and my existence in it. so to create with another person is to connect them to my world and my existence. through creating something together, perhaps I can find and feel a true and genuine connection with another human for the first time in my life....something that simply talking to people and being around them can never do for me. (but it also requires them to be in the same wavelength as me or the disconnect will remain)

maybe one day I cam experience what its like to connect with other humans and feel like I actually belong among them as one.....everything i've tried or done so far has basically been alone and not given me any true or lasting connections to other people. what's that like, to truly connect to others?
