re last reblog i keep instinctively wanting to be like “wicked is for children” but that would be a betrayal of my deeply held belief that creating good art for children (1) matters and (2) is fucking hard. hate to hand it to the mouse but wicked wishes it had like 10% of the juice of the disney classics

Original Anibus by @ari-cuno
I made the music with the impression of Anibus being a child of Geno and Reaper. I mean, his dads all involved around the concept of DEATH, and Anibus, his own name makes me think about a deity from ancient Egypt. Yes, the god of death from ancient Egypt, Anubis.
So I try to write the theme music of Anibus in a more ancient sounding way. It may sound a lil' bit weird, which I totally intend to do.

5 Pharaoh Secrets You’ve Never Heard Of!
Ancient Egypt has long fascinated us with its mighty pyramids and powerful pharaohs. But behind the grandeur lie hidden secrets that few know about. If you’re ready to uncover the lesser-known truths of Egypt’s forgotten rulers, read on and prepare to be amazed!
Tumblr media
•Pharaohs Weren’t Always Egyptian
Many assume that all of Egypt’s pharaohs were native Egyptians. However, during the 25th dynasty, known as the Nubian Dynasty, Egypt was ruled by kings from the Kingdom of Kush, modern-day Sudan. These pharaohs weren’t only foreign but also played a crucial role in restoring Egypt’s temples and traditions after years of decline. Despite their non-Egyptian origins, they reigned for nearly 100 years, marking a significant era in Egypt’s history.
Want to see more intriguing facts about Egypt’s rulers? Check out my video here.
•The ‘Cursed’ Female Pharaoh
Meet Hatshepsut, one of the few female pharaohs to have ever ruled Egypt. She was a successful ruler, but after her death, attempts were made to erase her from history. Statues were destroyed, and her name was scratched off monuments, almost causing her to vanish forever. It is believed her stepson, Thutmose III, tried to erase her memory to solidify his rule. However, her story survived the sands of time and remains a fascinating part of Egypt’s legacy.

•The Mystery of Akhenaten’s Appearance
Pharaoh Akhenaten is known for his unusual appearance—an elongated face, wide hips, and a potbelly. Some suggest he had a genetic disorder, while others believe his look was intentional, perhaps to symbolize a divine form. Akhenaten’s unique appearance continues to fuel speculation, even leading some to wonder if there was an extraterrestrial connection!
If you love uncovering the strange and mysterious in Egypt’s history, watch my latest video for more insights
•The Hidden Rooms of the Great Pyramid
The Great Pyramid of Giza still holds secrets, even after thousands of years. In 2017, scientists discovered a massive void above the Grand Gallery using modern scanning technology. No one knows exactly what lies inside this space, but some theories suggest it could be an undiscovered burial chamber. The mystery continues, proving that even the most well-known monuments still have surprises in store

•Pharaohs and Their Obsession with Curses
Pharaohs were notorious for protecting their tombs with ominous curses, warning any potential tomb robbers of death or misfortune. The curse of King Tutankhamun is the most famous, with several members of the expedition that found his tomb dying under mysterious circumstances. However, modern science suggests these “curses” might have had a more practical explanation—trapped bacteria and molds inside the sealed tombs could have caused deadly infections for anyone who disturbed them.

The Plagues Appreciation Post
I am always Frothing at the mouth when I listen to The Prince of Egypt soundtrack, but The Plagues gives me goosebumps to the n-th degree.
The singing dialogue between Moses and Ramses is *mwah* chef's kiss---it's their brotherly relationship losing any chance of reconciliation in song form. Also, the "this was my home," the delivery makes me tear up every time; there's so much longing, grief, and just a touch of rage in Moses' voice. And then, I can hear Ramses' confusion at Moses' actions quickly turns to disgust and wrath in his verse, especially at "then let my heart be hardened / and never mind how high the cost may grow."
Also, the chanting male and female voices in the background (they remind me of angels, using their music to dictate the plagues) is terrifyingly beautiful. And the last chord on "go" also itches the brain in just the right way.
The instrument used in the song also offer deep characterization for the brothers. Different instrument groups are used during Moses' and Ramses' verses. It's primarily strings for Moses with some prominent horn melodies, and it's primarily brass and drums for Ramses but it also has prominent horn melodies. Even though it's orchestra v. band, the horns connect the two brothers, just like how they stand on opposite sides in this conflict, but how their history and previous lives together connects them.

12 Days of Classical Christmas
Day Eleven: The Shepherds' Farewell, by Hector Berlioz
youtube
Thou must leave thy lowly dwelling,
the humble crib, the stable bare.
Babe, all mortal babes excelling,
content our earthly lot to share,
Loving father, loving mother,
shelter thee with tender care!
Blessed Jesus, we implore thee,
with humble love and holy fear.
In the land that lies before thee,
forget not us who linger here!
May the shepherd's lowly calling,
ever to thy heart be dear!
Blest are ye beyond all measure,
thou happy father, mother mild!
Guard ye well your heavenly treasure,
the Prince of Peace, the Holy Child!
God go with you, God protect you,
guide you safely through the wild!
Words by Hector Berlioz

we are in dire need of some new media trend. we've done pirates, we've done cowboys; we've gone through two whole zombie revivals. aliens and space themes have basically been a constant since at least the 1950s, as have robots and evil AIs. we went pretty heavy on vampires for a while. we've also done dinosaurs, ninjas, musicals, wizards, sea creatures, ancient rome, ancient egypt, middle ages out the wazoo, entirely too much world war II, we're currently overdosing on our superhero phase, we've done monsters (misunderstood), monsters (radioactive), fake guy in the real world, real guy travels to fake world, caves & mining, vikings, what if you were really small, genre parody as a genre, sand, New York, time travel, something racist goes down in the jungle, neurodivergent detective, buddy cops, crooked cops, gangsters, bank heists in particular, kid has powers, revolt against the corporate world, portals, social insects, dragons, the British, global apocalypse, martial arts, roadtrip as self-discovery, Jesus, clones, clowns, babysitting goes wrong, demonic possession, ghosts of all kinds, talking animals, fucking with the stock market, restaurant ownership, dwarves, planes, and spies. where do we go from here. what's our next big thing
