I have always had a hard time maintaining my weight. I would easily gain weight and it felt virtually impossible to lose even a single pound. That all changed when I started following the carnivore diet in 2015 - while my energy levels increased, other issues such as joint pain and brain fog emerged. It was then that I discovered my MTHFR A1298C gene defect, which is related to methylation and detoxification problems. After further research, I began to take B-Vitamins as recommended by Dr. Elizabeth Grady, although she noted that this was not something that needed to be taken for life - just until my body balanced itself out again. Sure enough, after taking the vitamins for an extended period of time the scale started shifting downwards, inches were lost and the brain fog and oxalate dumping stopped! My health has been quite a journey but now it seems like the mystery is being resolved - thanks to the MTHFR gene defect being identified and appropriate treatment given it's now easier than ever before for me to reach a healthy balance both mentally and physically. #mthfrmutation #mthfr #mthfrexperts #biomeiq #health #healthy #guthealth #healthygut #wellness #mthfrgenemutation #mthfrawareness #mthfrliving #mthfrwarrior #mthfrmutation #mthfreating #mthfrsupport #mthfrc677t #mthfrdetox #mthfrhealing #mthfra1298c #mthfrgene  #vitamind #vitamins #sunlight #immunesystem #immunology #dopamine #mood #hormones #bvitamins #enduranceathlete

I'm not good about taking supplements other than my Life9 probiotic, B12 and SuperB. I believe diet is KEY, but at the same time I don't absorb my minerals and nutrients as well as I should. Look up the MTHFR gene mutation - it changes the way some people metabolize and convert important nutrients from their diets into active vitamins, minerals and proteins. After seeing my blood work the other day, all are normal but on the low range of normal. Which is impressive for me! I'm going to try adding more kale and greens to my smoothies every morning. I just scanned for this supplement with my #iTovi, and here’s what I know about it: MegaCal™ is is a high-powered calcium and mineral complex that contains 207 mg of calcium and 188 mg of magnesium per serving. It contains calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, vitamin C and copper. Calcium and Magnesium support normal bone and vascular health (i.e. high blood pressure) as well as normal nerve and muscle function. Vitamin C is great for immune system, and Copper Gluconate is beneficial for proper red blood cell and immune function. Zinc is important not only for healthy immune system, but also proper action of many hormones – including insulin and growth hormone. Manganese is needed for blood sugar control, energy metabolism, and proper thyroid function. And, Magnesium also is critical for proper enzyme function and insulin action. I put it in water, drink it, and it tastes like lemon. I am going to set a goal to start taking it more consistently and talk to my doctor. - - - - - #megacal #youngliving #yleos #calciumandmagnesium #vitamins #vegan #supplements #younglivingeo #MTHFR #mthfrwarriors

I went swimming outside today! Man I love California. I was already feeling all spoiled and satisfied from my indulgent evening last night (sugar/wine/more carbs) and then I got a sunny swim annnd the sauna all to myself. And now my skin doesn’t feel too small, yay! (#mthfrwarrior #methylation #longstory) The freedom of just being able that indulge in a glass of wine in the comfort of my home is so wonderful, it’s not so possible/wise to do so when you live in your car! So grateful to be #homelessnomore. • 📸: There was also a unicorn at work! Whatta day. (at Playa Del Rey, California)

M O N D A Y M O O D . #GetIt! 💪🏼🙌🏼👊🏼 Honesty hour: I have been eating sooooooo terribly for the past month. My body is in need of a #HARDRESET. I'm posting it here, because I'm certain I could use the extra #accountability. We all could! I use to have #willpowerBALLSofSTEEL, lol!...but NOT lately, and it's really starting to show! 😕😑😞 • I was recently diagnosed with having the #MTHFRgenemutation. YUP. Sounds like an #acronym for something else to me too. 💁🏼😠😜😉 #SorryNotSorry! Anyway, it runs in our family, I'm JUST learning more about it, but from what little I know so far, it is kind of a precursor to #bloodclots, strokes, heart attacks, etc.; I do not process #folate like a "normal" person. Yeah yeah I always knew I wasn't normal, lol! 😆 Certain things are more dangerous for women with the #mthfrgeneticmutation such as pregnancy and forms of birth control, etc. Well, I obviously have sooooo much more to learn, but I know I had two PERFECTLY #healthy pregnancies and two perfectly healthy beautiful children that God knew were needed on this earth. 💙💙 #withGodallthingsarepossible ❤️🙏🏼❤️ • I know I'm already doing a lot of the things they recommend to stay healthy living with #mthfr such as eating and drinking lots of greens (as found in my #faithfitnessfashion #ohmygoodnessgreenjuice 🌱🍋🌱🍋🌱), taking #detoxbaths #epsomsalt soaks, getting plenty of regular exercise, avoiding putting chemicals in and on my body such as face creams, lotions, and processed foods. But my diet has been slacking, and I want to not only look and feel healthy, but also live a long healthy life and be around a good long time for my boys! • I'm reading up on it, but if you are a #mthfrwarrior, I would love to hear more about the things you do and know to stay healthiest. I know one thing, I am #thankful for this great life I've been given, and there are FAR WORSE things! And now, I just need a good mutator name like wolverine or something! 😘 Have a happy, healthy day, fam! 💪🏼🙌🏼😘 Love & blessings! • • • • • #mthfrsupport #mthfrawareness #mthfrmutation #mthfrmama #mthfrliving #mthfrsurvivor #eatyourgreens #greenjuice #fffwholefoodsdetox #detox #alkalinebody

MTHFR: The Gene That Can Affect Your Health and How to Optimize It
The MTHFR gene is involved in the methylation process, which is essential for many important bodily functions, including DNA repair, detoxification, and the production of neurotransmitters. About 40% of people have a variation in the MTHFR gene that can interfere with its function. This can lead to a number of health problems, including:
Increased risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, and cancer
Mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety
Fertility problems
Fatigue
Headaches
Sleep problems
There are a number of things that people with the MTHFR gene mutation can do to optimize their genes and improve their health. These include:
Eating a healthy diet that is rich in folate, vitamin B12, and choline.
Taking supplements that contain methyl folate and active B12.
Avoiding processed foods, alcohol, and caffeine.
Getting regular exercise.
Managing stress.
If you are concerned that you may have the MTHFR gene mutation, you can talk to your doctor about getting tested. If you do have the mutation, there are a number of things that you can do to improve your health and well-being.
Here are some additional tips for optimizing your genes with MTHFR:
Get enough sleep. Sleep is essential for methylation, so make sure you are getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night.
Manage your stress levels. Stress can interfere with methylation, so find healthy ways to manage your stress levels, such as yoga, meditation, or spending time in nature.
Get regular exercise. Exercise helps to improve circulation and detoxification, which can both support methylation.
Avoid toxins. Exposure to toxins can interfere with methylation, so avoid exposure to environmental toxins, such as pesticides, heavy metals, and cigarette smoke.
By following these tips, you can help to optimize your genes with MTHFR and improve your overall health and well-being.

Methylfolate Dose Changes – The MTHFR Journey Over Time
We’ve talked about folate dosing strategies because the best dose of methyl folate for your body will change through the course of your MTHFR journey. The three strategies we have covered are:
Intuitive dosing – this is my favorite and is perfect if you and your body communicate well together. When you’re stressed, have a difficult day coming up, feeling not perfect, or know you’re doing some extra detox work, increase your dose slightly. If you’re feeling amazing and don’t need extra support, then don’t take it. Just listen to what your body needs at that moment (I do this with all my supplements, not just methylfolate).
Mixed dosing – this is better if you’re a routine kind of person. You like the stability of taking a small dose each day (smaller than your maximum tolerated dose) and you can add up to your maximum on days that are harder.
Pulsed dosing – this is the method championed by Ben Lynch. He says if you feel great, decrease your dose and if you feel poorly, increase.
