So, I personally don't view Snape as an FtM transperson. When I do hc Snape as trans, she is MtF.

As a little kid, Sev always liked spending time with the girls. They were nicer and not so rough. She wanted to be a girl too, just like Peggy and Mary and Elizabeth.

As she started getting older, her dad yelled a lot, especially when he found Severus's single Barbie doll. Severus wasn't supposed to play with girl toys.

Severus met Lily, and she made her first best friend. Lily shared her dolls and promised to never tell Severus's dad.

Come Hogwarts (and puberty), Severus struggled. She knew she was a she, but no one else seemed to care. So, Severus was shoved off with the rest of the boys.

Puberty made her hate her body even more. Her father tried to make her cut her hair short, but she fought that tooth and nail.

Lily found Severus crying in the bathroom one day and wouldn't leave until she knew exactly why. Severus came out to her.

Lily hugged her tightly and kissed his temple, "It's okay, Sev. You can be my sister instead of my brother."

"You aren't freaked by it? I don't think there's anyone else like me."

"Remember my Uncle Tommy?" Severus nodded, "Well, he used to be a Samantha. You're not alone, you're just trans."

Lily gave her one of her uniforms to wear and Severus would wear the skirt under tightly fastened robes.

After her worst memory, being in a skirt at the time, she stopped. She stopped trying to be a she. Dad was right, she was a freak and needed to start being a man.

In her 2nd year of teaching, Minerva helped Severus come out after she figured everything out. Minerva never misgendered her, went with her to her appointments to transition. Magic really worked wonders for transitioning, leaving her as a fully functional woman, like she should've been born.

Severus Tobias Snape was gone, instead Seraphina Minerva Snape taught potions. A beautiful, happier, young woman with an Alto voice.

Adam from Degrassi

Degrassi definitely took me by surprise with the character Adam. I’m aware that they frequently go there with their story arcs (excuse the pun), but yeah I really never thought there would ever be a transgender character on Degrassi. When the news was confirmed I immediately started watching again. (I briefly stopped watching after season 8, so I spent an entire weekend binging season 9 before I started watching season 10 which is the season Adam appears.) Also around this time, I was in a relationship with an FTM so getting to see an actual FTM character on one of my favorite tv shows was a VERY big deal to me. 

*SPOILER ALERT!*

Adam is first introduced as Eli (Degrassi’s new resident goth cutie)’s friend and they’re participating in a contest to win concert tickets. I think I remember at one point Adam picks up a speaker and ends up smashing in Sev’s dad’s car light or some shit? Yeah, that’s all I remember from whatever episode that was.

Drew, Adam’s brother is a typical douchey jock, but he’s VERY supportive and caring towards Adam. Adam’s mom is “kind of” supportive, but wants Adam to be “Gracie” when their grandmother comes over for dinner. That bit always makes me sad. I do understand that maybe the mom was thinking, “My mom is from an older generation so she wouldn’t understand what’s going on”, but still that sucks. I feel like once somebody transitions, they shouldn’t be forced or guilt-tripped to revert back to their old gender to keep people happy. 

During a ballroom dancing class the teacher calls out “Gracie” instead of Adam and my heart instantly sank. I feel for transgendered people that have to deal with that. I get that people make mistakes such as the teacher or even anyone that forgets names/pronouns, but still that has to cause a shit ton of anxiety and I truly sympathize. <3

After ballroom dancing, it’s made clear that it’s “that time of the month” (I’m glad they put this scene in due to it being something people don’t talk about) and Adam quickly heads to his locker to get a container of tampons which he ends up dropping and Clare (Eli’s soon to be girlfriend and also Darcy’s younger sister) notices, and then covers for him when bullies Fitz and Owen walk by. 

There’s another scene where Drew and Adam are getting ready in the bathroom together and their mom calls out “she” instead of he and Adam responds, “Really mom? Pronoun problems still?” His mom quickly apologizes. I mean, at least she tries you know? Adam then meets up with Clare and Eli and finally comes out to them, explaining that he’s a female-to-male transgender and they were very accepting of Adam which in real life I think is heavily important to have some sort of support whether it be from friends, family, or even LGBTQ group meet ups.  

Like I said before, I dated someone who was an FTM and they definitely struggled alot with not only wanting to be accepted, but also accepting themselves. Even though I’m not trans, from my IRL point of view, it really can be hard to come out in this society due to pressure and discrimination and even body dysmorphia which is something that’s definitely not talked about enough. Whether you’re trans or even gay. There’s people in this world that don’t even like bisexuals. It’s fucking crazy to me that we live in a world where people are out here being so cruel, saying disgusting things online and committing hate crimes in real life against people all because of who they love or what they identify as.

On a brighter note though, it warms my heart knowing that not only do Clare and Eli know about Adam’s secret, but so does Mr. Simpson who sends out letters to other teachers informing them about Adam and the use of pronouns etc.

Adam begins to flirt with bad girl Bianca, but things quickly go bad when Bianca touches his chest. She then rips open his shirt revealing a binder over his tank and makes a transphobic comment. Adam runs to the guy’s bathroom and is greeted by Fitz and Owen. They try to make Adam pee standing up at the urinal and again my heart sank. Owen then picks Adam up and throws him at the doors breaking the glass. IT WAS SO ALARMINGLY DISGUSTING TO SEE THAT. Like what the fuck??? Drew then starts a fight with Fitz while Owen holds Adam back and the episode ends. I’m not gonna say any spoilers for the second part. You just have to watch it to see the outcome. I will say though, use caution because there is a graphic self harm scene. I’ve struggled with self-harm in the past so I have to look away during that scene. I will also reveal a quote by Clare that she says to Adam in part 2: 

“You don’t have to change who you are. Everyone else does.” - Clare Edwards

Truly the most honest thing I think anyone could say in regards to FTMs/MTFs struggles. You really don’t have to change. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with you. It’s people that need to change. Their minds need to change. Their hearts need to change. This whole entire world needs to fucking change, or we’re all doomed. There’s too much unnecessary hatred. Life is short as it is. Why spend what little time you have spreading around hate? It’s gotta stop. Bullying has to stop. Harassment has to stop. Discrimination has to stop. All this negative shit is a problem and we need to stand together to solve it!

severine was very proud of herself for powering through all of the discrimination she faced growing up as a transgender female.

at first, she greatly hesitated when it came to brewing herself hormone replacement potions and undergoing top and bottom surgery; she was still a professor at hogwarts and worried greatly that her colleagues and students would judge her.

she came out to the hogwarts headmaster, dumbledore, through a stream of tears and unintelligible sobs. dumbledore was surprised at first but supported her, telling her that he could go and tell the others himself if she was too scared to.

severine let him, and within days, the whole school knew. the people giving her the most trouble were draco malfoy and his friends, but professor mcgonagall always swiftly delivered a smack to the back of their heads with rolled up parchment every time a transphobic comment left their mouths.

much to severine's joy, she had you as her number one supporter. you were the care for magical creatures professor at hogwarts and you and severine had known each other since the two of you were kids. you were the first person severine ever told she was transgender; it was during new staff member orientation when dumbledore went around giving everyone their name tags. her deadname was on her name tag which bothered her a lot, so much so that you noticed how tense she had suddenly become.

you had been halfway through asking her what was wrong when she came out to you, instantly being met by your support and big hug. ever since then, you and severine were like two peas in a pod, best friends who stuck with each other through everything.

severine had recently undergone surgery and had now been taking hormone replacement potions for several months now. her voice significantly raised and her features become more soft and feminine, much to her delight.

you stayed with her before and after her surgery, taking care of her and filling in for her classes when you could. during this time, severine slowly but surely began to catch feelings for you; she's never had someone take care of her so much before, so it deeply attracted her to you. she did worry, however, that she didn't have a chance because she was teans. she knew that you were straight, but still worried that she'd never have a chance.

"good afternoon, sev!" you cheerfully greeted her as you walked into her classroom. you had just finished teaching a group of rowdy third years about bowtruckles, exhausted and wanting to talk to severine to unwind. any sort of conversation with her really helped you relax.

severine looked up from the cauldron of dreamless sleep potion that she had been brewing, purple smoke framing her face as she made eye contact with you. she grinned and nearly dropped the ladle she had been using to scoop the potion into small bottles, cursing. she always became quite jumpy and nervous around you.

"hi," she softly said, carefully placing the ladle down on the table and walking over to you. "how was your class?"

"exhausting," you groaned as you flopped down onto her desk chair. you wiped sweat off of your forehead, unbuttoning the top buttons of your shirt since you were still feeling hot from the early june sun. severine's eyes zeroed in on the small expanse of your bare skin showing before they snapped back up to yours. "the third years wouldn't stop fighting over who could hold the bowtruckle first and ended up scaring the poor thing off. i spent twenty minutes trying to find him and found him hiding behind a tree stump."

severine chuckled and said, "now you understand why i take points so often from my students."

you smiled and nodded, stretching your arms above your head. "how about you? how was your class?"

"the same as usual. gryffindors were annoying. draco called me a slur and i threw a book at his head. he's threatening to tell his father," severine gloomily said. "he doesn't know how to stop being a little prick."

you frowned and mentally noted to have a stern talking to with draco. "i'm sorry to hear that, sev. is there anything i can do to cheer you up?" you asked her with an eager smile.

severine stayed silent for a few moments. "kissing me would definitely help a lot, but you have no idea that i like you and you'd probably run out screaming if i kissed you right now," she thought, trying hard to imagine what your lips would feel like on hers. you had a bit of a stubble which would probably scratch against her skin at some point during the kiss, but she could care less.

"just stay with me until my next lesson, which doesn't start until..." she trailed off, checking her watch. "thirty minutes from now."

"sounds good to me. i really do love spending time with you, you know," you sweetly told her.

"i do too," she quietly said, her cheeks burning as she pulled up a chair to sit next to you. her knee brushed against yours as she sat and she squeaked, nervously clutching onto the long black skirt that she wore.

"are you alright?" you asked her. "your face is very red."

"i'm perfectly alright. it's just very hot in here, let me turn down the fire on the cauldron-" severine stood up too quickly, tripping over the end of her skirt. she gasped and you caught her by her waist, holding it firmly as she regained her balance.

severine nearly exploded from the inside out, her hands shaking as she lowered the fire and eventually just put it out. you didn't let go of her waist until she was completely on her two feet again.

you giggled at her shocked expression and she playfully glared at you, standing there awkwardly as she stared down at you.

"i have to tell you something," she suddenly blurted, her mouth moving before her brain could process what was going on.

"go ahead," you smiled up at her, watching as she began to anxiously chew on her bottom lip.

"i- well...how do i put this?" she slowly started, nervously playing with her long, back hair. "i don't know if i'm going to be able to say it..."

you raised your eyebrows at her. "did something bad hapoen?" you worriedly asked.

"no!" she gasped loudly. "no, not at all. well, it might turn out bad for me if this doesn't go well.." she leaned against her desk with a heavy sigh. "i have to do this, i have to."

severine was thinking out loud at this point, leaving you sitting there in confusion. she finally clapped a hand to her mouth, startling you.

"i don't think i'll be able to tell you but i can show you," she told you, motioning for you to stand up. you nodded, standing up and letting her direct you to stand in front of her.

"close your eyes," severine softly said. you nodded and closed them, wondering how she'd show you while you had your eyes closed. you heard her knock over a few things and you stifled a laugh, hearing the room fall silent moments later.

the next thing you felt were severine's lips pressing against yours. your eyes flew wide open but then you quickly closed them, knowing that you'd look odd with your eyes open mid kiss. the kiss didn't last long, but in those few moments you felt how warm severine's lips were and how she kissed you so delicately.

"i'm sorry," were the first words out of severine's mouth after she had pulled away, tears filling her eyes. "i don't know why i did that. you probably don't even like me like that, i never stood a cha-"

you silenced severine with another kiss, cupping her cheek with one hand while the other rested on the small of her back. you let your lips linger on hers before you pulled away to say, "you've always had a chance, sev. i've liked you for a while now."

"you have?" severine asked, genuinely surprised by your sudden confession. "even though i'm trans?"

"why would you being trans change how i feel about you? you're a beautiful, intelligent woman who i'm lucky to call my best friend, and i'd be even luckier to call my girlfriend," you confessed, smiling from ear to ear.

"but- but i'm insecure about my body, y/n. surely you wouldn't want to be with someone who's insecure...and if we ever got intimate...oh god! why am i bringing sex up this soon?" severine panicked, holding onto her desk for support.

"shh, don't worry," you soothed her, wiping away her tears and kissing her cheek. "whenever we reach that point in our relationship, i'm going to remind you that you're beautiful, inside and out. i adore each and every part of you, severine. please remember that."

severine gave you a teary smile and hugged you tightly, sniffling loudly info the crook of your neck. you protectively held her in your arms and stroked her hair, wanting to keep her safe and continue to make her feel special, because she truly was the most special person you've ever met.
