I pictured this as soon as Xisuma said the halo was made of a sunflower. It's my first attempt at Everen-inspired stained glass art.

My extremely late contribution to week 12 of the Ineffable Prompt-A-Thon by @ineffablyruined is a stained glass window featuring our favorite (un)holy beings. Well, not just my contribution, since that beautiful Latin poem was written by the wonderful @snognes. Thank you so much, you literal angel on earth, I'm forever in your debt 🥰

In terms of references, I used a real-life window, from the real-life location where they shot the 1941 church scene! More info a bit later, just click on Keep reading 😇😈

Thanks to this post by @fuckyeahgoodomens, I found out that the 1941 church scene was filmed in the St. Saviour's Anglican Church in Claremont, Cape Town, South Africa. Lucky for us, they have a website with a gallery page, which includes many of their beautiful stained glass windows, including this one:

PS: I actually did go through the trouble of drawing all the intricate stonework around the glass panes; in fact, that’s the very first thing I did! But honestly, I’ve been working on this piece for so long that at this point I just wanted to get it over with and didn't feel like doing all that additional color and shading work... so black void it is lol.

I might revisit this at a later date and perhaps do a little gif or something of like, the sun shining through in different way over the course of a day...

Mr Veils!!!! one of my favorite masters, i simply had to do it justice!!!

(and by justice i mean start up a simple design piece that rapidly spiraled out of hand-)

i tried out two different filters on my phone to get this to look nice, and even then it only wants to pick up on so much, so please combine the two in your head for me?

So! while bat membranes can in fact heal themselves, I think at this point veils

(1) has been fighting so much and so frequently that its body just can't sustain the healing anymore, and thus the healing process has started to slow down considerably and begun showing scars

and

(2) Veils is very impatient and refuses to rest its wings, so they had to be mended

additionally, it has litle diamond-shaped reinforcement points to stop tears from splitting further or wearing further. (maybe I'll add more at the top next time instead of the bottom)

the three markings under its neck on its ruff are meant to resemble blood! because i am a sucker for both tragedy And meaningful or literal fur markings

it wears glasses! mostly as part of a costume and for Fashion, and to help it appear more intelligent. however, after centuries of fine detail work, veils has become... a little far sighted, and just may actually need them for closeup work.

it's greying, because old money, wealth, power, experience, and i think it deserves some grey fur <3

the bat species it's based on is the Spectral Bat, or the Great False Vampire bat! because ghosts, pretending to be what it's not, and also those bats are Viscious in a way i think suits veils Very Well

also, it's designed to be very muscular!

i was originally gonna give it horns because of that one bit of text but. i forgor.
