I'm not a Bobutter shipper myself but I believe that there would have been so many Bobutter shippers in-universe. Like just imagine, there are two shows with extremely similar premises and some people probably grew up watching both shows and then they discover that the leads are very close AND fit the Zoe/Zelda paradigm AND have worked together on multiple projects afterwards? There's so much scope there in universe like people must've created compilation videos and/or rpf of them. Or at least Mr Peanutbutter x The Horse fanfic.

I’m about to go into season 6 tmrw. Wish me luck I don’t think I’m ready. 😨😨😨😨
Anyway the idea that they have a chance to be roommates after the end of the show is the sole reason I keep going. CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE
It is entirely possible. PB CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF BOJACK HE WOULD 100% LET HIM STAY ITS FREE COMPANY WITHOUT DATING RANDOM WOMEN!!! plus he’s like the 1 person that didn’t cut bojack out of their life LIKE🧐🧐🧐🧐
im gonna scream throw up cry and pee myself I love these two so much THEYRE SO FUNNY AND I literally start seizing whenever I see them interact in scenes they make me very happy. The Philbert era made me very happy.
I love drawing mr peanut butter when he’s older. YK HOW WHEN DOGS GET OLDER THEIR FUR ESPECIALLY NEAR THE EYES AND SNOUT GET LIGHTER??? I love drawing him like that HES JUST A GUY☹️☹️☹️☹️
The pants were also VERY FUN TO DRAW and I want both pairs I love pajama pants
One more thing forgot to mention but there was an episode that very much closely reminded me of Lotf???🤨🤨 coincidence I think not OK BYE

love this ship dynamic and in my head all of them visit each other once a year for a romcom soap opera marathon. Besides House, Peter, & PB who openly enjoys it; Wilson, Bojack, & Miguel just love the time they are able to spend together with their other half.
Love my Overworked, exhausted, def a lil fruity, semi famous men.

I'm going to re-comment this for Tumblr, but I feel lie some people are reading Curly WRONG.
TW // MENTIONS OF SA
While it is true Curly is a respectable captain, cares about his coworkers, and tries to keep peace, he is just another victim of the Bystander Effect. He is a man who falls short on his actions, when he is supposed to be keeping everyone safe and felt lead on board. It's shown he failed with Anya, whom she trusted the most, which butterflied its way into the rest of the crew.
Of course, he didn't intend to hurt the "working class". He didn't intend to make his friends/coworkers feel inferior because of his position, but he indefinitely did. Though, Jimmy was the only one to take it intense. This is the way I see Curly, and maybe how the game wanted us to see him too. Blonde, blue eyed, perfect, well-liked, like he had a halo around him at all times. Like he was just a "yes man" golden retriever type who could do more than his coworkers could. (i.e. his dreams of getting a house and being promoted after hopping off the ship, fall in love.. something his coworkers probably couldnt do, like Anya not being able to do medical school, or Daisuke doing much with his baseball career/shortcomings). Which, i feel Curly seems humble about, i.e. sticking up for the crew and telling them about them all getting fired (i dont rlly remember if Curly was going to leave/find a better job oops), wanting his friends to know he cares and wants to be there for them.
It's like he was a magnetic man who could lure in anything he wanted with nothing but a good attitude, but because he never experienced so much bad, he didn't know how to help Anya. He couldn't perceive or realize his OWN FRIEND could do that. He even tried to patch up the situation for both of them INSTEAD of siding with Anya. He couldn't in the way that he felt like he should be a go-lucky guy, a peacemaker. Like how another character I compare him to says, "You're better at delivering sad news. I'm a good news kind of guy. (Mr. Peanutbutter)." People just want to see him as happy, this go getter, this leader who did no wrong and could make everyone in a room hyped. And Curly, being played that role maybe his entire life, never figured out how to deal with severe negatives, just like with Anya's SA. It's incredibly sad, disappointing. If only he knew to take anyone accountable for their actions/to confront Jimmy, to report him, to support Anya..
He's just as guilty as Jimmy in the sense that he never spoke up. And not speaking about a crime you witness is just as big as the sin.
I love Curly, but DAMN.
Someone needs to hold him accountable too. Just because you care doesn't mean anything. Actions are truly louder than words, which were both taken from him by the time of his demise. A tragic character that could've been saved with logic.

MORE MR PEANUTBUTTER!! Can you tell I like him?? The worst part is that it's all very new art, I drew all of this in... 3 days? Idk
So, this one is very self indulgent. I wanted to explore his relationships with some characters in my AU (the one he dates both Diane and Guy, it all happens after the finale of the show). One of the reasons I love creating this AU (I even just finished writing a fanfic about it!!) is so I can develop PB more.
If you want an explanation about his relationships, it'll be under the cut!
Bojack: they spend way more time together now that they live together in California - PB has two houses, so he travels there to Houston all the time. His relationship with Bojack… Is improving, just like showed in the doodles. Some people even mistake them as a old married couple, but nah, they didn't even kiss once. Maybe once. Bojack doesn't want to talk about it. One day, years later, Mr Peanutbutter will make peace with his own sexuality, look back and realize that things make way more sense now.
Guy: talking about his sexuality, Guy plays a big role on it. I created a whole backstory for him, but it's a story for another day. He's way more comfortable about being bi than PB is - who is now having a lot of questions: "what if he's wrong about it?"; "what if he's too old for that?"; "what if all media reacts very badly about it?" It's a little easier when he's not alone. Their personalities go very well together and, other than that, PB is having the time of his life having a husband now <3 Guy usually calls him "dog" and PB isn't sure if he thinks it's cute or the opposite.
Pickles: I have a lot of thoughts about Pickles tbh. Some of her scenes made me think that she seemed so lonely. Years after dating and breaking up with PB, she realized that their relationship… Was kinda messed up, yes. But she was never angry, even being happy seeing how different his life is right now. When she meets PB again and finds out that, not only he felt guilty during all the time they dated, but also *still feels that way*, she thinks it's a little funny. She has a good life now, he didn't ruin anyone like he thought he did. They end up in good terms and message each other often enough.
Diane: PB calls her his "ex ex wife"! Coming back together has been a nostalgia trip for them and this comes with a bunch of complicated feelings. What makes all different is exactly what Diane herself said in the show: "if they met as the people they are now, things would be totally different". And they surely are different now, even more after spending so many years apart. But different doesn't mean perfect, this they would never be. They still have a couple of fights out of nowhere that Guy is confused about. What changes is that it's, in fact, better. And now they have hope. And they're enjoying finding out once again why they were in love in the first place. It's such an old feeling that they were tricked into believing it's new~

Ok the first time I watched bojack horseman season 6, it sent me in a pretty bad depression spiral. But I just watched it again for the first time in almost 4 years, and it actually fills me with peace. I think I thought the show was saying no one can change, really; bojack will always be just some shitty selfish horse. He can try to do better, but he can't change the lives he's ruined, or outrun the consequences, and he'll always slip up. That made me so sad.
But now i see it more like... yeah hollyhock cut off contact, bojack goes to prison, Diane implies they'll never speak again, Princess Carolyn implies she won't work with Bojack again in the future etc. But at the same time all of these characters still express love to bojack and thankfulness that he was in their life. Even Todd is really kind to bojack in the final episode, despite having every reason to ignore him forever. They draw boundaries as they should. But there's still compassion.
Even though bojack has arguably lost absolutely everything, he's still able to find a little joy in prison putting on a play. And those people will still probably say hi to him from time to time... and after he gets out of prison, who knows, maybe he'll make more progress and find new people, start better relationships. He was already on the up and up... he relapsed, but honestly that happens. Before his relapse he'd been sober for like a year which is pretty amazing.
bojack is messy and his progress is slow. He's deeply flawed and no one is obligated to stay in his life, no one has to respect him after all the shitty things he's done. But what brings him true peace is being honest with himself about that... no memoir or dream role or Oscar win or long-lost sister or university can replace the peace of just being real. Taking accountability. I think by the end bojack is at least starting to realize that and commit it to memory.
I also think it's tempting to feel like post-rehab bojack is all better, he's a new bojack, it's unfair that the reporters and interviewers come after him to ruin his life after he'd just fixed it. He's not the same as Vance Waggoner!! But that's the thing.. even though it's hard, even though it feels unfair, bojack still has the choice to do better. He didn't have to do the 2nd interview. He didn't have to teach at hollyhock's school without asking her if that would be weird. He didn't have to do Horny Unicorn, he didn't have to go back into that party after reading hollyhock's letter. He didn't have to go on one last bender, break into his old house, call Diane and nearly kill himself. It's understandable that he did. It's painful and horrible. But every single time, he could have chosen to walk away, ask for help--maybe not from Diane or PC or Todd, but surely Mr Peanutbutter or he could have just checked into the ER for monitoring. And that would feel sad and humiliating and lonely but he would survive and come out knowing he didnt ruin things this time, even if he felt alone. Its ok to be alone. But he didnt do that... so even though i understand why "new bojack" fucks up again.... it WAS all still his own choice.
I could talk abt this show forever lol God

Heres some BoButter headcannons that no one asked for ^___^
☆ Bojack ☆
He sleeps in super late, even during the week. I like to think that he took himself up on the job of teaching theater to prisoners, and spends his afternoons doing that :) he's recently gotten into musical theater and has become a bit of a nerd. He hates coffee now because of what happened to hollyhock so he tries new teas all the time. He hasn't done heavy drinking since prison, but he drinks some champagne here and there. He mostly just wants to stay home on his days off and likes to watch movies with PB.
He hasn't gotten back into the business and isn't planning to work anytime soon. He hasnt really gotten "recognized" in a while. No one really comes up to him saying, "Hey, aren't you the horse from Horsin' around?" anymore, at least not as much as they used to. A lot of people still don't like him because of the interview and everything he did, so he mostly hides from the public eye.
Him and Diane haven't spoken since PCs wedding, and once again, don't plan to. At least Diane doesn't. Bojack considers texting her alot but never goes through with it, he feels like he'd bother her.
Him and Hollyhock haven't spoken in a while either. While we never see what was written on the note, we can only assume it wasn't completely positive. I personally think it was basically saying, "i know what you did. I need space." So he hasnt called her in a while, but once again, he considers it a lot.
Bobutter wise, he thinks he's the "not interested" one, but he really just wants to cuddle up with PB all the time and watch movies. He denies it a lot, tho ^_^
♡ Mr. Peanutbutter ♡
He wakes up bright and early to make breakfast and is usually already done farrrrrr before BJ wakes up. He drinks protein drinks instead of coffee or tea, he's not a fan of caffeine, as he's already naturally energized!!! :3
He does small roles on TV shows and commercial work, but his main job is being a radio show host. He makes stupid jokes that he thinks people will laugh at, and he loves it.
He still likes to do the "BOJACK HORSEMAN?!! AND MR PEANUTBUTTER!!! IN THE SAME ROOM?!?! WHAT IS THIS A CROSSOVER EPISODE!!!!!" Some times when he gets home :3 He loves to annoy Bojack.
PB loves leaving the house to do stuff, and usually drags BJ along usually with puppydog eyes wich always gets him. PB honestly doesn't have much going on in his life.
Bobutter wise, He's very comforting. He knows that BJ is secretly a little love bug and doesn't pretend he isn't. He is always introducing BJ to super neishe shows/movies that he knew someone who knew someone who knew someone starred in or something TwT
anyways heres that gif again

He does get mentioned again! BoJack mentions him when they're doing the crossover episode and we see him briefly on a poster for Mr Peanutbutter's House, although he doesn't actually get any screentime.
They really had something going with the Zoe Zelda paradigm because if you try to claim that it's stupid they just accuse you of being a Zoe. Fucking gotcha all around. You're completely trapped either way.

*cracks knuckles* I guess I gotta be coherent for this shit, huh
So, Raguma made a very good post here, that talked about her opinions on Peanutbutter’s feelings for Bojack earlier in the series, and the way she wrote about Peanutbutter slowly falling in love with Bojack hath inspired me (also I need to stay awake really bad, I can’t fall asleep I need to leave the house in an hour and a half)
I’m not gonna claim I don’t like the idea of Peanutbutter pining and nursing a secret massive “love at first sight” crush on Bojack since the 90s. It’s fun, it’s interesting, it is an impactful reading of Peanutbutter’s early-series behaviour that brings some well-earned queerness into a piece of media I know and love.
Do I think it’s canon..?
Kinda
I think having stuff be cut and dry like that is a disservice not only to the characters depth, but to the realism that the show is always managing to portray to a truly stunning degree. That conclusion just feels so… one note in comparison to basically all other Peanutbutter analysis i’ve seen.
Really think about it. We all know about the Labrador Peninsula, we’ve talked about it a thousand times by now, so i’m not gonna use too much space reiterating. But tl:dr the peninsula is a very cookie-cutter environment that cuts out any sort of negativity or perceived abnormality.
An environment like that wouldn’t exactly be the most ideal environment to develop the sort of vocabulary that would help him understand and recognize his own queer feelings. While never actively bigoted it’s still easy to fall in the “it’s ok for everyone but me” sort of mindset.
Implying that Peanutbutter would have a solid and identifiable crush on Bojack in the homophobic 90s is just… not the most true to life. It’s unfortunate, but that bit of tragedy is kind of ingrained into the circumstances of his childhood and the political environment of the era.
Furthermore, implying Peanutbutter KNOWS he has a crush on his peer while repeatedly getting into relationships and marriages just feels… scummy. It undercuts the loyalty that is so central to his character until his divorce with Diane. That moment with Diane is supposed to be a huge dip in morality, but implying he would do something similar with Bojack and his wives, even just on an emotional level, leaves the impression he’s just kind of like that, which removes some of the impact of him cheating on pickles.
But I ALSO don’t think the crush is necessarily something he just suddenly develops post canon, or even mid series.
I think Mr. Peanutbutter is a victim of Comp Het
And this isn’t necessarily just for his potential unrecognized and under-developed feelings for Bojack, I’m talking total queer denial. I think he’s Pan, and Pan specifically, not TRULY caring about the gender of his partner, but also not recognizing his feelings for men as romantic.
Also, throwing some autism in there, mistaking a crush on Bojack as some sort of fixation. He could definitely realistically have Horsin’ Around be a special interest of his, and of COURSE he would respect the wonderful actor who brought one of the main characters to life! (also side note about the autism, him learning how to mask and socially present from a combination of both his overly cheery hometown, and an overly fake Hollywoo)
And another thing! One very good point Raguma brought up in the post I linked earlier, was the way in which Peanutbutter had his relationships. About how his relationships with others often lacked a certain depth and emotional connection (I personally believe this is something he craves but has no idea how to actually pursue). ALSO that Peanutbutter would only really know the sort of persona that Bojack put forth until a lot closer to the end of the series.
This is definitely part of the complicated semi-feelings and semi-fixation he has on Bojack. Thinking he’s cool, and thinking he’s another fun famous guy who he REALLY likes and appreciates and wants to spend time with. And as Bojack opens up, and Peanutbutter emotionally matures, their relationship becomes more deep and powerful.
I know my thoughts are very disjointed right now but I have a ton of them and I want to at least get them out there
