I had a gravity falls phase about two years ago and I unfortunately didn’t draw the characters very often. So now I’m trying to figure out how to draw them and it’s taking a bit lol. I want to incorporate the shows art style with mine a little so the characters are still identifiable. It’s taking longer than I would have hoped but here are some sketches + one colored drawing
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sorry for smudges and stuff. I’m not good at working from top right to bottom left lol.
old “art” under cut. Look if you wish to cringe.
this is all the art from like a, only 2-3 month phase. I didn’t draw much because I was obsessed with the owl house at the time then I got hit with the hermitcraft/life series beam.
Tumblr media
I really like Lost Legends lol. Someone has a fan dub and it’s really good. I’ve watched it at least 7
Tumblr media
Never completed because the scale was off and I didn’t like it. Was gonna make it a shrinky dink
Tumblr media
Idk how I thought this was a “full” page lol. That painting never happened and at this point I never heard of a thumbnail before. So I felt the need to write down all this extra stuff
Tumblr media
Speaks for itself. (Back when I had my poscas.)
Tumblr media
This is what happens when you try to draw and watch a show at the same time. Nothing gets done after an episode.
that all. I don’t know why I feel the need to share this with everyone but I’m gonna do so anyways because. Why not, I guess.
at the time I thought I needed to replicate the shows style perfect or else I wasn’t a “true fanartist” lol. Those thoughts are gone now luckily

the thing that delights me about mr cornelius hickey in amc's the terror is that the first notable thing he does is get caught bumping uglies with whatshisface and when you hear that you're like "oh, okay, this is going to be his character axis, he's the gay one" which means you are COMPLETELY unprepared for him to start murdering people. by the time you get to him running shirtless across the tundra and doing cannibalism his sexuality is entirely irrelevant. like this is an equal opportunity descent into madness. homosexuality is still illegal but i guarantee the giant polar bear with a human face is going to get him before the cops do which is a win for representation in my book

do you think dan and phil felt threatened by younger white boy ships like dream and whatshisface ?
fuck no, they know they're unbeatable. i do think they might get a little offended seeing people compare them to the youtube/tiktok rpf ships of the month though, cause hey those people aren't even actually gay how dare you imply we're the same
i jest but as much as dnp value their privacy and don't outright talk about themselves as a couple you literally can tell they're a little proud of it. the whole phan phenomena i mean. it's been a journey and it's been iconic and they know that and there is no chance mr and mr attention seeker aren't at least a little bit fond of being THAT couple. they're THE youtube pairing and they always will be
i feel like dan got this formspring question a decade and a half ago and it's been on his mind ever since

Thoughts on Agatha All Along since I gave in to watch it since people on Tumblr seem allergic to tagging their spoilers.
I know it was inevitable but I am annoyed we didn't get Lilia's trial before she was killed off.
Why did amnesia Billy/William go goth-lite? There was no indication from either boy's life. Did he just realize he was gay and randomly choose that from the twink aesthetic catalogue? Did he go with it once he heard about witches and decided to lean into the commercialized version of that aesthetic that they had the whole co-opted culture rant about? If so, that would be hilarious. A bunch of witches stuck with a little fanboy in a Spirit Halloween costume of them the whole time.
I think the potion didn't work for Sharon/Mrs. Hart because they forgot to add her hair to the potion, not because she had drunk more of the wine.
It's going to be interesting to see how the passing of time on the Road vs regular world goes. Because we are talking about a regular of Westview life and a teenage boy just up and disappearing for a while. Lillia can close her shop and it's whatever, Alice just lost her job, and Jen it would make sense she went into hiding to avoid the charges. But Sharon and Billy were expected home for dinner soon. Knowing Marvel, they're just going to ignore that.
Given that only two witches can make it off the road, are they going to loophole Billy (and/or Rio?) since he wasn't one of the witches who summoned the road (or because they're going to technicality him into something not a witch), are they going to end it by trapping/killing Agatha in the vein of destroying the last of Vision in Wandavision so everyone knows there's no s2, is the other witch who made it off the road with Agatha the first time going to come into play (watch, it's Rio), or is Rio not going to make it? I can't imagine, with the poorly done hints at assembling the Young Avengers, that they're going to kill Billy. Also, let's be real, it's still Disney and their execs get nasty at the suggestion of killing children in their media, especially on screen.
The whole jade egg thing was hilarious.
How has Agnes been surviving for three years? Especially with the implication that she randomly goes cuckoo. Is Ralph still paying the mortgage and utilities in the hope he eventually gets the house back? Is she normal enough long enough to hold down temporary jobs to cover her bills and maintain friendships with the neighbors? Especially since they show up to bring her food and make sure she's okay when she does go cuckoo and they all know she didn't live there before Wanda showed up. Does Agnes have access to Agatha's bank accounts and has just been unknowingly draining her savings?
I really need one of those Bohner family tshirts.
On a tangent:
If they are going to Young Avengers Billy, I am even more annoyed at the implication that Kate and maybe Yelena are going to be part of that. Yelena is 30, Kate is going into her mid 20s, and Billy, Kamala, America, and Cassie are mid teens. And how is Shang Chi supposed to fit in? Are they ignoring Secret Invasion or are we really going to see Super Skrulls? If so, what good will Kate and Yelena be except as coordinators and trainers? Billy is the most powerful living witch, America is a universe jumper and wizard, Kamala has super powers and bangles which can build intergalactic wormholes, and Cassie can shrink into a realm where physics work differently and from where she can summon a multi-powers army of friends. Kate and Yelena fight good. Which is kinda useless against Hulk power Skrulls.
If they're going to ignore Secret Invasion the way they seem inclined to ignore Eternals and they're dropping whatshisface because of the actor's legal troubles and poor audience response, then what is the new generation going to be fighting? And if it's basic foot soldier invasion at a level two non-powered mortals can deal with, then what do we need Shang Chi, Kamala, America, and Billy for? I mean, even with everything the Avengers dealt with, the heroes were pretty low level power wise until the last Thanos battle. Thor didn't have his full powers and they're still kind of weak, Wanda didn't know the full extent of her powers, Vision was so busy waiting for Tony to give him orders he never actually used any of his real power, and the rest were mortals. Like, yeah, Cap and Hulk could hit hard but what good is that against Shang Chi or Billy?
So, what? The new full Avengers will be Sam and Shang Chi, with Katie along for the ride to fill the archer role and maybe Yelena, maybe She-Hulk? And then the Young Avengers will be Kate and Cassie and a few planet destruction level super powereds? And if they are going to split Hawkeye 2.0 and Widow 2.0, why bother introducing them to each other and making them be friendly.
And, again, if they are going to give everyone amazing archery skills, why bother with Kate Bishop at all? Kamala has plucky optimism and knows Fury, America has the active connections to the OGs through Strange and Wong as does Cassie in some ways, and Billy brings the purple. Kate has no tactical or strategic training or knowledge, no powers, and while the rest have experience with super powered battles, Kate has ... fought gang members.
And really, how stupid to have all the powers be on a Young Avengers roster while the only person in the potential new full Avengers who would maybe even survive a battle between them is Shang Chi. Because with what they have done since Endgame, all the powers except for him are with teenagers. Shang Chi is the only super powered who can walk in a bar. Are we going to have to wait eight years for them all to be acceptably aged? Is a Disney owned studio really going to lean into child soldiers? Is Sam just gonna swan off and do his own thing and not build a new Avengers team? Is Shang Chi gonna be a Young Avenger? Or is he gonna be the new Strange, there when needed but not really an Avenger.
Is Billy going to be the new big bad? His mom destroyed the Darkhold and the throne room place so he doesn't exactly have the path to world ruling and her full power. And again, is Disney really going to be okay with sending teenagers to kill each other in bloody battle? If Agatha might be the new big bad after she gets her powers back in the show, then they only need to send Shang Chi and Kamala against her since their power weapons are tech not magic and she can't steal them. Or maybe Billy distracts her while Yelena sniper rifles her from behind.
If they just let their stories run, fine, but they hint at team ups that just make no sense.

I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on the Ghost Monument. I know some people feel the stakes aren’t high enough, and that maybe if the racers were pitted against each other more it could be a more ‘interesting’ episode I guess, but I find the dynamics of the 2 guest cast to be interesting because they aren’t enemies, they’re not friends either but there’s not a desire to kill each other, because they are their out of necessity and to me that’s more then just being there out of ego or a prize. That surrounded by the history of the Stenza on the planet, it’s fascinating and one where I don’t think I’m fully across yet, so would be interested in hearing your thoughts.
Honestly, I was mostly just shocked that people thought this episode was bad? It wouldn't make my favourites list but there's literally nothing wrong with it either in plot or the execution of it imo. I enjoy it in a rewatch! It builds important dynamics and sets up important arcs. The foundation for the main characters are more firmly set.
Also, like, whatever peoples feelings on the stakes in this episode, it should be noted that The Ghost Monument as an episode has a dark twin. Its name is Ascension of the Cybermen. Narratively they function as a pair and the second one is supposed to be a lot darker with more stakes that shows the development of the characters, so you can't really do that if the first one is absolutely Go Go Go GO high stakes all the whole way through? The tonal difference belays the seriousness of the second episode. The contrast shows to demonstrate both how far the fam have come in AotC and how far 13 has fallen from TGM.
Not to say the sitch they're in in TGM isn't serious, it is, but this is not super stressful to the doctor, she's not, till the very end, scared she can't return them home or that they'll die (well. anymore than the doctor apparently normally is. The monologue in Once, Upon Time was fabulous but very sad). The fam are mostly just following 13's lead to get through this all figuring it's their best chance. In the second episode, they show their own initiative. In effect TGM is their training wheel episode that allows them to survive when the stakes get high.
The links between 11x01 & 2 and 12x09 & 10 give me Life. Such brilliant arching plot threads. Great bookends to Ryan and Graham's time on the show.
And really? This is a personal opinion, but disaster apocalyptic scenarios (which this is applicable to even if our group aren't natives of the place) where everybody lives in hell but just fight and try and kill each other as well as the environment trying to off them are just Bad. And belays an absolutely twisted view of us as a species. I feel like them all banding together when it gets tough and forming a community, if a very terse one where not everybody gets along, is actually an accurate portrayal of people in general. Even whatshisface Enzo or whatever joined the group he hated for safety because he was a lousy person, yeah, but he was Not stupid. I cannot stand grimdark crap like those zombie shows where people just kill each other en masse in their warring factions or whatever like the whole of human history isn't us forming societies and working together.
But speaking of whatever his name is, I feel like his contributions to the dialogue of the episode played an important part in delivering the themes they were going for, so making them fight instead would just have damaged the episode's core aims.
Mr 'I love my mum she taught me people are awful and selfish and horrible by breaking my trust and allowing me to get badly injured' is, congrats, the first person in this era to talk about his terrible mother whom 13 Immediately says sucks (gee i wonder why they did that. he even got hurt because he fell and his mum didn't save him). This is also the first time the cycle of abuse is mentioned because uh, the loser in the mother of the year competition did it specifically so it'd perpetuate itself in her son. This is the episode the timeless child is first mentioned. Considering the cornerstone of the arc is that this child in the end Broke that chain of abuse I do not consider this a coincidence. I'd bet him and his mother would think that Tecteun made that child Strong by what they did to them. 13 did Not like this man and she wouldn't, he's a dark mirror but also the victim of a really shitty mother.
There are other things i take note of in this episode. It's the first time out of post regeneration weirdness we see 13 really hit her stride. It's the first time we see her eschew pacifism as Her Thing despite the fact that she's already demonstrated her willingness to use violence with a few bombs the ep previous. Contextual morality. Reoccurring theme. It Wasn't a good idea to use violence in the situation she was in in TGM. Still doesn't make her a pacifist though bc lol, the bomb thing. So it's Kind of the first blatant portrayal of 13's private actions contrasting ones witnessed by the fam which are used to make her look better in their eyes. This will continue all season.
The stenza are now explicitly portrayed as violent colonizers as opposed to weird guys with the universe's most messed up election system. The lady is going through a race from hell is here to buy her loved ones out of the hell of their society. It's the first time the theme Properly pops up in the era. The first of many times. 13 continues to be a support to Ryan here, deepening their relationship. She's dad-ing him. She's not mad, she's disappointed! (she's also mad). She's also supportive of him.
I also think that 13 totally running out of ideas and thinking they're all gonna die at the end when the others disappear and the tardis does Not appear sets up something interesting. The fam, the ones who have been sceptical about her ability to save them this ep but still figure her as their best chance Immediately bolster her confidence and try and prop her up. They continue with the 'you've got this doc, we have faith in you!!' for a while after that, i assume they think she needs the morale boost? But I think it just leaves her with this terrifying pressure in the end?
She tries to let them know later on that this travelling is Dangerous and that they could get hurt but i think they have kind of started to buy into their own hype about her by then and aren't as worried as they should be. They think tim shaw is the worst of the worst the whole of s11 and 13 doesn't barely deign to acknowledge him bc he's so beneath her. So by the time the real bad guys pop out of the woodwork that Actually scare her the fam are overconfident in her ability to save them, which in turn eventually leaves them in the AOTC situation where they have to save themselves because she Cannot save them herself. She gave them an out before then and they didn't take it because they were not worried. I think the journey to that overconfidence starts right here.
I guess if i had to gripe it'd be that the scene where the two racers decide to take the prize together was Way too easy and more of a footnote in the story? There wasn't really another way this was going to end, but still. That seemed a little weakly done to me. I'd like a little bit more time devoted to it because it's not like i can't think of a few different scenarios to get here, it's just they'd have taken more screen time. In the end, I think that the episode had more important plot threads to go into so they just rushed it a bit. Maybe that's where people wanted more conflict? I don't want more conflict as much as a deeper discussion. They Didn't have a gripe with each other beyond that they were competing against each other and wanted to win and it didn't seem to occur to them that they could just share. But also, i've not watched this for a while. Maybe i'm misremembering, but i remember it feeling short to me.
idk, in the end it reminds me, weirdly, of Jurassic park where they're working their way across the park to the guest centre when all the dinos are escaped. Yes they're in danger and at times it's severe, but they have time to talk and bond and work together using their own skills as a group. The stakes Are high, there be monsters out to kill them and they want to go home, but it's also not 100% dire at all times. It hits the same mood for me.
This episode wasn't grim but it wasn't trying to be either so i guess if you Like grim it'd be a disappointment, but it did what it wanted to pretty well with setting stuff up and having a reasonable compelling episode plot.
Also... It's Super pretty. The bright sun. Glorious.

hi i’m late to the hatchetfield lore but i just wanna rant about smthn really quick.
what did mr president whatshisface (i cant remember his name like ever, last names aren’t my strong suit for characters) make a deal for?
at first me and a friend assumed it was the same deal stephanie had to go through: sacrifice the thing you cherish most. we assumed he had sacrificed his wife/stephanie’s mother for his position of power, perhaps. but that doesn’t actually make sense, when you think about it a bit more. because there’s a difference in both stephanie and her father’s cases, if this theory is true in any capacity.
if the president sacrificed his wife for his own gain, that’s a selfish act. stephanie sacrificing peter was a selfless act, for the greater good. the first being a selfish act means his wife wouldn’t be what he cherished most. what he cherishes most would be himself.
the lords in black are sadistic creatures. the epitome of knowing they can do whatever they please to these humans, and make them bend to their will. if anything, i imagine they specifically make whatever deal they feel at the moment. this is supported by the christmas list line from wiggly, himself, to me. it’s a good reference to black friday, sure, but think about it. a christmas list is something temporary, an at the time list of things you want at the moment. so it’s simply a scene of wiggly saying “what do i want most at this time?” because he knows he can get whatever he wants. so do all the other lords in black.
they could’ve easily made an entirely different deal with the president. what’s interesting about the president, too, in comparison with the lords in black, is that he doesn’t care for anyone but himself. truly, he’s what her cherishes most. he’ll do whatever he can, and force others to do whatever he wants em to (like forcing stephanie to act like a good daughter for his image and nothing more) at any cost. well, almost any cost. see, despite all of this of his character he is afraid of the lords in black. they took something from him so drastic he refuses to ever make a deal with them again, and pushes this new deal into stephanie specifically. so it isn’t a question of mr president working for the lords in black. he asked for something, and gave something in return. but with all of this, there’s nothing i can really guess at this time of what it could’ve possibly been. i could be reading too deeply into all of it, but at the same time.. starkid’s hatchetfield tales (specifically nightmare time) have never been ones to miss or forget details easily.
so with all of this, it’s impossible to guess. the president only cares about his image, will do anything to keep it- especially to his own daughter, to the living lives of others even- but will not make another deal with the black lords ever again. he’s only done it once. he clearly does not work for them. he, himself- his position, his ego, whatever you can count specifically- is what he cherishes most. wiggly doesn’t need anything to be powerful, he simply toys with the humans who dare call his and his brothers names. the president is not selfish enough to make another deal with the black lords.
what kind of deal did he make with them?
edit from fox fully caught up on nightmare time and seeing the notes: IM AWARE I GOT HIS NAME WRONG I DONT THINK ABOUT THE MAYOR MUCH. OR AT ALL. SORRY YALL

Different idea: Yoichi is the one being rescued by his father. He chose to raise the baby that wasn't a "freak". The child that looks adorable and weak and human. Yoichi gets to have a happy childhood, he's growing up in a wealthy neighbourhood, surrounded by a family that cares, books and stuffed animals, nurses, tutors and nannies that will tend to his every need and he is showered in gifts, love and affection of everyone who has ever laid their eyes on him, meanwhile AFO has to fight tooth and nails to survive in the slums of Japan as he's being hunted down by anti-metahuman organizations. He swears once he has found the family that has abandoned him he is going to torture them to death, every single one of them. But when his clueless baby brother finds him lying injured in a dark alley and shields him with his body against the attacks of others, hugs him and cries for him, tries to nurse his injuries and offers him the other half of his melting popsicle to comfort him, he isn't too sure about his revenge anymore.
I have several questions about this one.
1. Why doesn't AFO get to be a sex worker TOO, why do you think his mother's red light friends wouldn't take care of him as they did Yoichi 😤 He would be an EXCELLENT (murderous) sex worker!!
2. Why does Yoichi go looking for his twin? Did he know about him from birth? Did he just now find out? Or is he still ignorant of the fact that he's not technically an only child and he came across this random injured man/kid in an alley and decided to help just because that's the kind of person he is?
AFO probably knows on instinct who he's looking at when they meet, but I think Yoichi would just feel that pull, that familiarity, and not know where it was coming from. It could very easily be confused for,,,,something else, especially if AFO doesn't tell him that they're twins.
3. How exactly was AFO planning on taking revenge on his family? Are they still young enough that he hasn't accrued many powers yet and thus has very little influence and power? If Yoichi is out of AFO's life, very little (physically) changes for him from canon. He might be bigger, less articulate, because he doesn't have to feed another person when he finds food but Yoichi was also the one who liked to read and tried to find higher meaning in life, but his mannerisms and murder likely stay the same. Yoichi was an emotional crutch, not a practical one.
What was I saying? ...Idk.
ANYWAY—I imagine Yoichi brings his new friend home either way, no matter the age. Though if he's still young then I see Mr. Whatshisface once again banishing the unwanted child from his home, as Yoichi doesn't have much sway in the house while their father is running it. But! If he's older then even as a nepo baby he'd have some sway over who can stay where in what house; AFO could be his permanent guest ✨
Though—this does bring into question what AFO would WANT if he doesn't want revenge; or even if he does, what he's going to do after he's gotten it. In the manga, he only got the idea to take over the world from the comics he and Yoichi were reading together, PLUS his need to care for both himself and Yoichi. But if Yoichi never introduced those comics to him, and Yoichi is taken care of and can supply him with almost whatever he wants, then what would AFO's goals be? Would he just be content to stay with Yoichi like that? Letting Yoichi take care of things, take care of him? It's an interesting thing to consider :3

Bobby/Angel i need to know your hot takes
Ooh do I have a hot take for this? Maybe lukewarm?
So, it's canon that Bobby had a crush on Warren and, while that is technically a retcon, I think it tracks with their interactions. I've seen people argue that it would make more sense for him to be into hank, but tbh I don't agree. He's closer friends with hank, sure, and there is homoeroticism there but I wouldn't call it a crush. And as someone who has had plenty of friendships with unacknowledged homoerotic undertones (disaster bi speaking), I think they come in a lot of different forms. Angel is definitely in crush territory.
Warren is stunning. He's this supermodel-looking charming prep with all this obvious appeal. He's a lot of things Bobby isn't. He's a little bit dickie from the talented Mr Ripley or whatshisface from Saltburn in that way (not that Bobby has anything in common with the protagonists of those stories because he doesn't)
I don't think Bobby really wants to be with Warren. I think he used to in a fantasy daydream kind of way. But I think now he probably barely thinks about it, but maybe still had a soft spot for him. That's my interpretation.
Ship wise? I've seen some good art and fun headcanons, but never personally been motivated to make anything for it. I like it, but passively.
I have seen a couple of people earnestly suggest Warren as a serious love interest for Bobby in canon and I really don't get that but I'll talk about that in another ask I got

ive been thinking a lot about the emotional motives behind nbc hannibal’s killers lately…
youve got our first baddie, gjh, who i think killed out of a fear of losing control. His only child was going away to college, and for some reason or another, he was terrified of losing her. I think he was fearful rather than angry because he’s never shown to be angry at Abigail. He knows it’s not her fault that he feels like this. But his feelings could also be framed as a fear if rejection from Abigail herself; choosing to go to college would mean leaving him. So he has an insatiable need to keep her close that morphed into knowing that he was going to snap. That he was going to kill and eat her like a buck so that he could honor her and she could never leave. But killing her would be a loss in and of itself, so he sublimated this desire by killing girls that looked like her.
Next, we get Will goin a lil apeshit on gjh. Yes, he was terrified for Abigail’s sake, but he also felt powerful, righteous, and just. I think his emotional motive for this kill and all his subsequent ones is righteousness - a combination of the joy and thrill of being powerful and the anger of someone committing an injustice that hasn’t been punished. I think Hannibal has the same emotional motivation, which is why he and Will connect so well.
I bring up fear of rejection in gjh’s case because it tied into our next two killers (not counting Abigail); Eldon Stammets (mushroom guy) and the Lost Boys. I think Eldon was driven by a yearning - fearful of connection due to possible rejection, but joy in the beauty of his art. The Lost Boys were children manipulated into killing their families and for the child we focus on (the youngest one, Christopher) his motivation is obviously the fear of being rejected by his new family, plus maybe fear of retaliation from the mother figure and oldest “brother”.
Ok, back to Abigail. Her motivation for killing whatshisface sorry it took me so long to look up christopher’s name and NICHOLAS BOYLE there we go. Anyways its obviously fear at first but um. She guts him. And later on her and Hannibal exhume gjh so she can punish him via slitting the corpse’s throat. So I think that her motivations are the most interesting and most subtle - I think she’s a righteousness killer too. Like Will and Hannibal, she’s been desensitized to the violence and horror of murder, so now she utilizes it as a punishment.
An interesting thing is that her and Hannibal share a connection here - they both use murder to take back power that was stripped from them. I don’t really see Will doing that, he kills for purposes and while he does feel powerful, murdering people doesn’t give him much power over the one person who is taking it all away (mr medical malpractice.jpg). It curries him favor with Hannibal, and you could argue that his murders in s2b are part of his manipulation of Hannibal and therefore add to his power, but I still dont think reclamation of power is a motive for Will. It definitely is for Hannibal; his traumatic childhood led him to do all this and as much as his pride would have him deny it, building himself as a god among pigs ensures that they can never hurt him again.
Ok so we got fear (subcategorized into fear of rejection, fear of loss of control, and yearning [fear + awe and joy]) and anger (all i outlined was righteousness=anger at injustice + the thrill of punishing wrongdoers but I’m sure there’s more). Later I wanna add on my thoughts about Michael Brown’s motives and Will’s emotions behind killing Randall Tier specifically (bc the motive was obvious, he needed Hannibal to trust him as a fellow bad bitch in baltimore, but I think his emotions with Randall are a lot more complicated than they were for gjh). But I’m done for now
