Spooky Month Library AU

In a surprising turn of events, I'm not dead! And what is more, I've recently concocted a new AU to share with you all!

And before we get started, a special thanks to @crossover-enthusiast and @spookyscaryskidnpump / @woomy-wormy for helping develop this AU

The Premise

A library is briefly tasked with storing the mysterious Starborn Manuscript which is in truth a spell book. The librarian unknowingly reads a spell from it which leads to characters from the library's books coming to life as tiny paper people at night.

The Basic Lore

When close to the book of their origin, characters have access so abilities they have in the book but otherwise can't use.

Characters can be "tainted" by and sometimes reflect misdeeds of their authors.

Characters who are directly related (parents, grandparents, siblings) in SM share a book of origin. Other relatives are from different books by the same author.

The characters believe Eli the librarian, the only human they've caught brief glimpses of, to be their god.

Characters only come to life within the confines of the library.

The Characters and their books (some of them, anyway)

Skid, Lila and Skidad- Leads in a book from a kids' horror anthology wherein the father of the family is replaced by a monster, as the real dad doesn't directly appear in the story, the on that's brought to life is the monster.

Pump, Susie and Mr. Wonder- The main family in another book in the same anthology as Skid's family.

Roy, Carmen, Richard and Garcia- Carmen and Richard are the leads in a fantasy romance novel, Garcia orchestrates an elaborate scheme so Richard can be with Carmen and Roy is introduced into the story after a timeskip.

Ross, Jaune and Aaron- Ross is the protagonist of a cyberpunk YA dystopian novel

Robert and Radford- The leads in a lighthearted slice of life story.

John- Lead in a noir story.

Jack- Supporting character in a different noir story.

Rick- The main character of a newspaper strip which has a compendium in the library, speech bubbles appear when he talks.

Dexter and Michelle- A reclusive family from a gothic horror novella.

Hobomen- Tankmen doodles on a torn off and wadded up page of a student's notebook that rolled under a shelf

Bob- He's just a normal chef in his book of origin, but his author's recently outed violent tendencies have lead to him becoming much more violent than his book counterpart.

2 TOWL thoughts (even tho i have a million)

#1: I could see that final shot of the trailer, with Michonne smiling up at what seems to be a helicopter, possibly being the moment she gets taken by the CRM. I feel like she’s going to learn about them from the people she’s traveling with and when they tell her it’s this formidable place with a massive army, she’ll know that’s most likely where Rick is because only the most powerful military on the planet could have kept Rick Grimes away from her and their family for years. And so when the helicopter somehow arrives to take her as their A or B she smiles because she knows that while she’s technically being captured she’s also being taken straight to where she knows she’ll find her husband

#2: I keep picturing that conversation when Michonne finally gets to tell Rick they have a son. I cannot wait for that moment between them! There are so many ways the news could be shared/revealed and I just know I’m going to love (and be overcome with emotion) however they decide to do it. For some reason, the way that keeps playing in my head is that Rick is obviously going to want to know all about Judith and what she’s like now, and I picture Michonne telling Rick how amazing Judith is and listing off these great traits their daughter has like how she’s so brave and smart and has a huge heart for others, how she’s protective of her family like her dad and good with a sword like her mom and all that. But then Michonne adds something like…she’s also an incredible big sister. And off Rick’s naturally inquisitive look, she finally tells him they have a beautiful baby boy, RJ, and they still were able to build for the future in that way. 🥹 ...But truly however they do it, I’m here for it.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go replay Rick saying “my wife is my choice. my daughter is my choice.” for the thousandth time. 😋

Kleos cries over plates.

Kleos here, dear 5 people who read this you may be asking “Kleos why are you crying over plates? Whose plates are you mourning??” And I say, Camp Half-Bloods plates.

Specifically like here- I’m writing notes about stuff I want to post so I can have drafts that I can just shoot off when I’m on a plane or busy or just need something to put out. Pages 14-17 (as of now) are about mealtimes/the dining pavilion in CHB. Why does this affect the plates? Well, we all know about the Dryads and how they come over with the beef and the strawberries and all that jazz. Fine all good and dandy the plates are just plates.

And that’d be good, I could go off context clues and stuff and ramble about the diets of children at CHB with that. If Leo didn’t come barging in talking in MoA about the magical enchanted plates they got from CHB along with the cups that magically summoned food. I’ve been (not actually) crying over this for the past 2 hours because it hurts my brain to decipher what this means. Because we have the many instances of the very average plate plates and then the magical girl plates.

This in my head means two things. Either all the plates are magic at CHB except they don’t use the magic plates or those plates Leo has have been locked in Chiron’s china cabinet in the big house for display- which obviously the wording of the 2nd option is a joke but like. The lore implications of what the plates magical status to me in this fictional universe is somehow halting me completely in any progress which is stupid. “Kleos it’s just something Rick didn’t think of,” “Kleos as your peers say, tis not that deep bro” and I say to that. Yeah no duh, but who cares other arbitrary strawman me (the one worm in my brain that is realistic).

So, as I cried over what was going on with Michael Kahale all those months ago. Now I cry over plates. Fucking plates, because either option in my brain makes me ask “why aren’t they using the magic plates” when they use the magic cups??? I can just go with “they are in majority of canon seen as normal plates. Therefore they are normal plates and Leo was just on something/j” but this is my plate conundrum. Maybe in a few days I’ll answer my own problem but this has been “Kleos cries over a plate issue rather than actually writing that Bryce Lawerence fic or continuing to work on the first chapter of SoN re-imagined” thank you.

Percy turns 16 and Mr. D is trying to explain to Percy (who 100% knew after like a few days that Mr. D wasn't his actual dad) that he is about to die and that the camp needs to prepare for war.

Annabeth figures out the truth in a very much less noticeable way than dunking him in the river. She falls in love with the idiot "seaweed brain" that is pretending to be the son of Dionysus and kisses him before he blows up the volcano on accident ( how'd you blow up the volcano, Percy? I summoned a shit-ton of wine).

They win the war and then, only then does Poseidon claim Percy. Dionysus has gotten attached to Peter Johnson though. The boy was actually kind of hilarious and he pretended to be his son for a solid 4 years.

He tears a new one in Poseidon yelling about how Percy never would've been claimed if he hadn't won the war.

It ends how it started.

With Dionysus calling Percy his son.

Even if he doesn't say his name right...

AU where Mr. D claiming to be Percy’s dad accidentally counts as Claiming according to Greek god law or whatever and now all the other gods legitimacy believe Percy is his son, but if Mr. D corrects it, he has to explain to Zeus why he pretended he was Percy’s dad so now he’s like “YEP ol’ Perry Johansson is MY child wowie just look at the little fry, you have your mother’s eyes. Please stop standing next to water or you will blow my cover”

Meanwhile Poseidon is just standing off to the side like “how on earth did I dodge THAT bullet”

I think one of the things I like about the Percy Jackson show that we've seen so far, is that the stuff that was added still feels in line with the books. Like all the lines going "is there a greek god of disappointment?" "Like Jesus?" The whole bit with Mr. D pretending to be Percy's dad. These bits are not in the book, but they feel like they would be. And idk if that was all Rick or the writers just get it. But either way I enjoy it.
