In The Games training , Peeta preferred to hang around the Camouflage, & it ultimately became his saving grace in Book I. Creativity, to most tributes, doesn't compare higher than physical prowess in significance. In Catching Fire, we see the D6 Morplings go to Camo first.

Peeta Mellark allows himself to be known as Loverboy to almost everyone in the 74th arena, which is him defining himself by emotion. Mostly because that’s what Careers, who D12 tributes hardly ever team up with, called him

Peeta decided to kill himself, even before the Nightlock idea, because he refuses to die at the hands of the Capitol. He seriously felt remorse after killing Foxface & had Katniss explain it to him. Killing others wasn't supposed to be something these tributes felt accountability & care about. "...wanted to hold them accountable, if only for a moment... For killing that little girl. (CF; 238)

Yes, Katniss says to eat the berries on 3, though it's Peeta Mellark who tells her to out-stretch her hands so "...everyone can see." (THG; pg. 338).

Peeta refuses to hold a knife when he could hold a paintbrush. (Katniss replies to Haymitch that 'if he wanted babying, then should've asked Peeta.' His fellow Games Victor called him soft & he just offers her bread [again]). Even in the actual war, he felt so hurt when he killed others.

He has a vivid memory for the horrors of The 74th Hunger Games, to the point where Katniss says she "hates" his paintings. He’s not even offended he just lets her hate on them because they are gruesome.

He always looks out of windows at other people [Katniss on the bakery lawn], places {districts while on tour] as well as the Capitol. He also takes people's baked goods home to evaluate. And doesn't stop.

He also sees the elder from D11 get shot in the head & doesn’t let himself be touched by Peacekeepers after he said he & Katniss would feed Rue & Thresh's families.

Peeta refuses—so vehemently—to drink the beverage to purge his meals. He tells Katniss that maybe they shouldn't squash the Rebellion.

He is the second person to volunteer in years in D12, & at all & he, too earns the highest rating in the Quarter Quell. Before the Mockingjay ever existed, the mockingbird & Jabberjay had to meet. If Katniss is the Mockingjay, Peeta embodies both qualities of both birds individually. Peeta is wholly himself, at his best. When the Panem screams conformity, Peeta doubles on individualism.

If you haven’t yet watched Elias’s video on the Avatar franchise from a perspective of a Native American — please do, it’s a very good watch! Plenty informative and insightful. Summarises not only his own opinion of the movies but also what the general reception of said franchise has been by native communities (it’s about 50-50 from what I gathered.)

What peaks my curiosity with this essay is how much it revealed of JC’s perspective. My opinion of JC has soured greatly, as you may have heard if you caught me in my Twitter era before I got outta there, and new context only contributed to my disappointment, yet at the same time revealing the titanium effort the few natives who got involved with the franchise put in to make, especially the second movie, as authentic as possible, which is incredibly tragic as that should have been the job of the culture consultants, of which I have no knowledge of whether James Cameron hired at all.

Everything I like about these movies came from the effort of actors, artists, musicians, lore writers and designers. Avatar is very obviously a big group effort, not just JC’s passion project, as when Elias detailed some of James’s inspirations for the first movie I realised “Oh…oh he did not make allat. He had massive help.” And it applies especially to the sequel.

I love this franchise, but it became very apparent to me that it is NOT because of its main producer. If anything, his motivations behind some choices in the script left a sour taste in my mouth about A1, that I will need time to recover from. I won’t stop liking the franchise, but I’m very much over the idea of its producer being hellbent on doing things on his own.

Avatar 3 and every instalment after NEEDS native writers and consultants. I don’t think I’ll remain a fan for long if it doesn’t, because the money is there, so why not take the opportunity??

I have incredibly mixed feelings about The Owl House finale.

On one hand, I'm excited to see how the story ends and I hope they all live happily ever after.

On the other, it's a reminder that it's the last episode ever and we could have had so much more if it weren't for a few Disney execs.

Virtua Fighter 2, Tekken 3, DOA 2, Soul Calibur 2...

Y'all know that I'm a huge advocate of 2d fighting game and 2d sprites in general..but those games I just mentioned are some of the best 3d fighters. They are feel good games. There's a very good chance you've played them at a friend's house, just pressing buttons. But that's part of the enjoyment. Just have a good time.

With VF coming back, I need a new SC and a new DOA. A new DOA with the essence of 2 and 3.

Smth smth love hurts them all, but love is also the only thing that can heal what they've gone through. The bandaid is the same sharp blade that cut them in the first place

Welp, I bought the Sims 25th birthday bundle thing on Steam, it was 60something. It included Sims 2 and all the packs&stuff packs, and it included the original Sims game and all it's packs, as well as some sims 4 kits(which I don't care about and didn't want in the first place, lol) Now, before I get polverised by the entire sims 2 community here... yes I've been reading what people have to say, I've been reading about the concerns, I've been reading about the warnings...yes I'm aware of both games being available for free on the internet. I was one of the people who switched over to Linux to be able to play TS2 and I don't plan on going back at all to playing it on my windows desktop... HOWEVER, I do want to be able to play it on my laptop. I recently got a new laptop on Black Friday in 2024. I tried Osab's installer, and all the fixings for it, it still did not work and there was tons of pink flashing as soon as I put my cc and mods in.

So, I pondered putting Fedora on my laptop too but, I have to use this laptop for work, and tbh I rather not have to switch to windows and linux to work and then play.. it's just... annoying tbh. I still have windows on my desktop and it's been almost a month since I've logged onto that partition...I'm considering making the full switch on this computer to just linux and use my laptop for windows stuff. But, in all honesty...my biggest reason for buying it is because, as I've mentioned before in a previous post back in December... I have a huge medical surgery coming up, a kidney and pancreas transplant. It's going to require me to be 7hrs away from my home for three or four months... I thought about getting my boyfriend to bring my whole ass desktop down for me when I get settled into where I'm staying... but IFFFFF I can play sims on my laptop without issue then that would be perfect. But again, I don't want to put linux on it so when I saw that EA was planning on doing the re-release I was skeptical, sure but, I thought it would be a good solution to my worries about not being able to play Sims when I was away from home....but, now that it's available, of course I'll throw my money at EA. It's not like I haven't before when the sims 2 first came out, it's not like I didn't hand them my dubloons when Sims 3 was being released, and then bought some sims 4 packs.. even though I barely axtually played the game, but mostly just built in it for my YT channel.

I know most people won't givve a shit about who buys the re-release but I've just seen so many people hating on it and I feel a little wierd because I genuinely don't like EA as a company, at all but here I am giving them money that could be used elsewhere in my life. But alas, here I am.. about to dive into the sims 1 like it's 2002, to hear that sweet sweet sound of "EA Games, Challenge Everything" and let my mind melt into its childlike form.

Maybe the reason why everyone in the new chapters is dropping dead... is so that Asagiri can show how Atsushi makes decisions without the input of anyone else that he actually trusts and let him decide what to do because in an earlier chapter Atsushi had a breakdown over whether it was right to stop Fyodor from reaching his true goal but decided that he didn't need to make the decision and to just leave it to the Agency so maybe he's now being forced into this situation so that he can decide for himself as no one can really tell him what to do in this situation.

Silly Random Rant

GUYS GO WATCH LUCA IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD.

I love the characters and it's such a heartwarming feel good movie. I just re-watched it for the first time in two years and I am SHOOK.

And like....

I want a sequel. But also, the story is so contained to the movie that a sequel would just seem like a money laundering tactic, so here is my proposal:

Make more stuff in the universe.

I wanna know WHY Giulia's father originally hated sea monsters, and what's the situation with Giulia's mother? why does she live in Genova. Did she and the father get a divorce? Does she need to be there to do her job?

Or a story about Luca's grandmother's life- and/or why her daughter grew up to be such an overprotective mother.

There's so many characters with incredible opportunity for expansion on their backstories, even Machiavelli (the cat)

It's such a fascinating world in that movie and I want to see more of it!

I'm sick of people dismissing the struggles and issues of teenagers as 'hormones' 'a phase' 'they'll grow out of it'

I'm sick of people dismissing young voice because 'they don't know what they're talking about' 'they're too immature to really understand' 'they'll learn when they get older'

I hate when adults downplay the pressure a school may be putting on their child because 'try working a job, you'll miss your school years'

I hate when adults ignore children until they do something drastic, because all else is just them making a scene.

Who care if it's caused by hormones, the feelings and pain is real. The confusion, depression, insecurity, chaos is fucking real.

Who cares if it's a phase, they have a passion, they're excited about something, they're exploring their identity, stop fucking dismissing it just because you might have grown out of it. Just because you might think they'll grow out of it. So what. A life without phases isn't a life at all, and no phase is 'just' a phase, they're part of fucking life and treat them as such

Yeah they're young, might be inexperienced, but actually listen. They have opinions, be proud they feel comfortable outing them to you. Nowadays so much information is available. You can't tell what they 'don't know' by just a few words, talk to them.

A child can notice when they experience injustice, they can recognize when it happens, they experience the effects. No one is too immature to experience injustice and discrimination.

Someone's age should never justify their voice being ignored.

Someone's age should never mean they're not equal to you as a human being.

To adults, you're not better then children. To children, adults once knew the struggle don't lose hope that they've forgotten.

In less then a year I'll be 18, the number means nothing because humans are always growing and you can't put a number on how valid someones voice is. You can't put a number on the importance of their perspective. 18 can be such a different stage in every life and I'm fucking tired of it's simplification.

No one is too young or too old to have an important voice.

Children are not objects, the elderly are not a burden, those of middle age are not immune to pressure. Fuck ageism in all it's forms and those who dismiss it as a silly thing that has no merit.

Why did they do Timmy so dirty post season three. Like they de-emo'd him, and they changed his voice to sound so much more whiney and annoying. Like it feels like a completely different character with the same name. He deserved so much better. Like I was expecting the character development from Night School to sort of carry over and actually have Timmy start liking Kevin more and feature him a bit more prominently but nope! Right after that it was as if that never happend and Timmy went back to being a generic character who doesn't like Kevin at all. He is criminally under utilized and deserves SO much better.

My relationship with gwenvid is so uniquely bizarre to me. It's weird cause I've never, EVER shipped something to the point of legitimately enjoying seeing it.

Sure I drew characters in love as a kid but like. It was just whatever. I found some relationships cute. But i never, EVER though of myself as a "shipper". Gwen and david reached through my screen, grabbed me, and never let go!

Camp Half Blood Schedule

As of now I have 14 pages for the schedule and describing stuff and activities and it’s all mush, my brain is mush and please I want to go home and see my family 🥺😭😭

In all reality this is a combination of procrastinating reading Tower of Nero because all the characters I really care about have been drop kicked out of the narrative and I’m at my grandparents house. I have nothing to do and I have a horrible sense of time so let’s get into this (plus sometime down the line I’ll go over HoO re-imagining like. Camp Jupiter processes but I’m reading some books about the Roman legion so I’m gonna, tough that out and then report back lol)

Disclaimer!! I don’t know what time is, time is something that eludes my brain and the only summer camp I’ve been to was a Christian one with a foster family because I was bored that summer and I said why not (I’m not Christian but it was funny). Also I like completely forgot if there is anything in the books that actually have schedule lore. I forgot most things with CHB to be honest.

So anyways, actual meat and potatoes

7:30- wake up and get ready. Yes 7:30 sounds reasonable to me. It gives the kids 30 minutes before breakfast and campers can wake up before the ‘official’ time.

On Fridays we have cabin inspections, dictated by the arbitrary ‘one day we picked someone to do it first and now we’re on a rotation’.

8:00-8:30; breakfast time, yes you only get 30 minutes for breakfast we have things to do and does it take you more than 30 minutes to gobble up breakfast? (No judgement it took me 2 hours to eat lunch one time) but If I ever let the other 13+ pages of notes come to light they’ll be more in depth stuff about. Everything, but breakfast time includes

- one cabin setting up the Dining Pavilion

-Everyone offering to the Gods

-Morning announcements!

-yum actually eat food

-plate staking/cleaning up the tables

8:30-10:00; the first activity. The activities are your going to the arena, or the forge, all that jazz. Uh, there’s a board in the Big House where counselors set up the schedules (as in signing up for activities n stuff and coordinating) I’ll get into it someday. Maybe.

10:00-12:00; Activity 2/downtime. Because pinky swear just chilling is an activity. Downtime is important. I wrote down that cabins can sign for the same thing back to back if they so wish. Also the rules are looser than the words clinging onto my brain so really anything happens. It’s CHB they laugh in the face of a rule.

12:00-12:30; Lunch time. Nothing special about it. Uh ,:3

12:30-2:00; third activity. Action packed days for the win!

2:00-4:00; fourth activity time. Also probably when most of the campers start cabin revolts. No one agrees on a schedule most of the time.

4:00-4:30; actual specific free time. Some moments to gather round and chill out. You’ve already spent most of your day, doing something.

4:30-5:30; activity 5. Most of the time this can just be a continuation of the free time.

Don’t ask me what those extra 10 minutes are for no one really ever knows

After 6 o’ clock no one is allowed on the lake. Sorry man

6:00; also the beginning of Dinner. Dinner goes as planned, usually with some Camp wide event happening because of course. Can’t have good stuff here at camp/j

7:00; Camp Sing-a-long times!

7:30-8:00; your stuck in the Cabin circle but at least you get those last few minutes to hang out without the threat of harpies later in the night.

8:00; all campers enter cabins for like getting ready to go to bed and stuff. Get your last conversations in

8:30; official curfew is in effect. No one can leave the cabins except for counselors who need to plan the next day because they aren’t planning their full week on Sunday.

I have notes also on like. Everything else ,:3 Chiron gets lessons and the Cabins have to do those and stuff. Sorry I haven’t been, posting long posts like this for a while lol. I’ll probably get some HoO re-imagined Camp Jupiter content out once I finish this one book I’m reading and have my CJ notebook (yes I do have a whole notebook dedicated to CJ there’s my fun fact). Also, at some point I’d like to introduce Charlico (Chiron’s WIFE) to CHB if possible. Love you Charlico/j

Blah blah, something about how Edwin chose to be "soft" after hell but what if he didn't?

The toughest thing that one can do in a mean world is to keep being kind. And he chose that. He chose to be kind. He disregarded 70 years of being ripped apart to care for a random dying boy, to keep him company. He is tough.

Blah blah, smth like choices and time being main plot points, but what about the clear struggle between good and bad?

Crystal being good now, doing good now, but coming to remember she did all sorts of (objectively) horrible things.

Charles wondering if he became the very thing he was devoting his whole life and afterlife to protecting people from, when he is (non objectively) way better than those he was comparing himself to (his father, his bullies, the two jock boys)

Edwin wondering if he can ever do enough good to be able to save himself from the torture he thinks he must endure forever? All on a technical error? (After having been back to hell, maybe he was meant to be down there. The grudges he holds have a hold on him. And if you punish yourself everywhere is hell, but if what if that's where you belong?)

Monty wondering if he can choose to be good, if he can BE good when all he ever has known is obeying to the whim of a person who is executing bad acts. Can he ever really be good if doing bad is written into him?

The cat king, and his perspective. Good and evil are the same thing if you look at them from far enough away, if you stop focusing on who you hurt and more on what you want. But sometimes he sees it, and he hates it, and he distances himself again.

Esther, being so corrupt by thinking she is the victim that she is good because she was hurt first, thinking her hurt gives her the right to hurt others. Feelings are always valid, the actions tied to them, killing countless girls, killing Niko? Those were not.

Niko, the kindest, sweetest, easily favorite of the show and fandom, she struggles with the guilt of leaving her mourning mother with nothing but her father's body and memories. She can't even mail a letter back. And when she does, she dies. And her body probably reaches her mother before the letter does.

Something about Charles not finishing stories. Something about how he doesn't read the endings, he makes his own. He gets to look back and make sure Edwin is safe, because he never knew that Orpheus couldn't. He does get out of Hell with the love of his (after)life, because he didn't know Orpheus didn't.

He found the love only myths could write off, and left off the endings. He would have love that didn't hurt, even if he had to hurt more to get to it, even if he had to die and run for it. And he would write his own endings.

Something about how Edwin knows the endings, but he goes along anyways. Because he trusts Charles to change the ending. To change the narrative. They both love each other (maybe not expressly in the same way, but it's still love) and maybe that's enough to change the narrative. Maybe the love is enough.
