Ok so a few years back I read this post by @contradictionaddiction and I love the idea that Megan was as much a fantasy fan as Howl in their teens, she canonically has a Rivendell sign in her yard!!!

And i find the implication that she resents him about his life choices so interesting because she probably had to become the responsible and respectable sibling in the family while Howl did what he wanted.

Since Howl loves to bring gifts to his nephew and niece, id like to imagine him gifting Neil a Tolkien book set with lovely illustrations on his birthday but who's to say it's not also for Megan :) Howl wouldn't outright gift Megan their childhood favorite books since they're not getting along too well anymore but he could do it via Neil...Maybe she picks them up again at some point.

Frederick Douglass, a former slave, an abolitionist and author, wrote in his autobiography that he sought spiritual assistance from an enslaved conjurer named Sandy Jenkins. I remember reading pre-release S2 reviews of OFMD and whoever said that the crew wasn't given any focus at all compared to S1 must be highly delusional. All the characters are given their own spotlight in just a few episodes (I need more Wee John tbh but I feel we'll be getting that in the next episodes). And I love the show more because of it.

The show has always been about having a found family. And I love that Season 2 is really giving us that --- I think even more than Season 1. I absolutely adore seeing the crew's interactions: how they talk to each other, comfort one another, laugh together, panic over a curse together, and be absolutely wild.

And now with Izzy becoming officially part of the crew -- part of their family, gosh, it moves me to tears. It really hammers down why Izzy said what he said in the trailer: how piracy is about belonging to something. He's finally found a home where he truly feels he's accepted in; be who he is without having to follow orders or repress the feelings he's kept deep inside. Finally, he's found a place --- a family to belong to.
