In a version of Worm where Legend’s job in the story is actually to be “The One Good Superhero” instead of a quiet but very pointed commentary on how “nice” does not equate to “good” or “effective,” I thought that a really really funny way to do that would for it to turn out that Legend actually puts the pieces together on Cauldron roughly triannually and every time they just use the slug on him to make him forget.

And to take the joke a bit further for retroactive horror, Black Noir style, you have a couple gags earlier in the story where his apparent “bit” is that he never really leaves the 1950s lantern-jaw radio announcer Tick-like heroic register, like he delivers his pep talk at the leviathan fight in a zap-brannigan, go-ye-heroes-go-and-die register complete with a dashing smile, or he gives an inspirational speech and strikes a pose and holds it for several seconds while everyone else is just looking at each other, and then in Flashbacks to the early days of the protectorate he’s just, like, a guy, and eventually you realize, oh, he’s been getting a boatload of cumulative brain damage from the slugging.

(Kindly note that things “that would be good for the story” are deeply divergent from “things I would find incredibly funny,” and this is purely that second thing.)

I love how whenever ATLA recognizes Sokka is smart enough to solve a problem but it’d be too fast they just stick him in some kind of situation. Like he COULD’VE stopped jet from drowning a town so they tied him up and dumped him in a forest. He COULD’VE figured out what that spirits deal was so they lost him in the spirit world for 24 hours.
