I love absolutely all of the costume pieces in Hackers, they’re all such unique pieces and are so fitting for each respective character but i just wanted to share just a few of my favs that i saw on hackers curators!!
Dades party pants - “Dade wears these checkered wide-legged bondage pants to Kate's party. They were designed for Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren's World's End label, for the 1984 Hypnos collection. Dade's pants are blue and orange checked with orange details, but a light blue and yellow color was also produced.”
Phreaks BW jacket - “Phreak wears this black and white Pierre Cardin leather jacket on top of the Empire State Building during the hack battle and again when the Hackers gather around a pool table to score the battle”
Cereals velvet underground Tank - “Cereal wears this ripped 1980s The Velvet Underground tee during both Cyberdelia scenes and at Lord Nikon's apartment when he shows up to watch Hack The Planet. The shirt features the cover art from Michael Leigh's controversial novel from which the band got their name.” (i made a version of this for a cosplay awhile ago)
Curtis’ Jacket - “Curtis wears this jacket by Solar-1 to Cyberdelia on the night Dade beats Kate's top score.. It is an EMT jacket that is available in several colors and has distinctive silver reflective stripes to help Curtis look slick all day (and night).”
Kates backpack - “Kate's "backpack" is a USAF C9 Parachute quarter deployment bag. The straps were added for the film” extra: “Deepdive information is coming soon, but in the meantime, check out the video process of our recreation.”
https://youtu.be/jTXmRBjQXVE
youtube
Razors Boots - “Razor wears these long "yeti" fur boots in the club scene when he and Blade agree to help hack the Gibson. These boots are vintage goat fur après ski boots by Italian label Oscar Sport, likely from the 1970s. Oscar still makes this style, called the Capra 01, although a few small details have changed in the past few decades. If the current model is any indication, the boots are handmade in Italy out of Tibetan goat fur and are wool-lined. Razor must be cold-blooded to dance all night in these babies!”

Finished my first watch of Niagara.
I think, it’s my favorite Marilyn movie so far…
She really feels like a torturously disillusioned wife every time she graces the screen. I do mean graces. Every outfit is a winner, be it suit, negligee, THE magenta dress, or a bed sheet she looks angelic. While I enjoy Marilyn I consider myself a more critical fan. If I’m honest, not every movies of hers hits home with me, and I’m fine with that. But in Niagara she truly captures the face of an angel with cruel intentions. So much that I can ignore her beautifully made up face fresh out of the shower. It would only make sense in this exact moment in film.
I’d almost root for her escape if it wasn’t for murder being the end game. Her portrayal of a woman in fresh love is sweet, exciting, and makes her l comments of “kids” arriving to the camp feel so silly when she herself looks like a teenager in love. It also makes the rift in her marriage so stark. Whatever vitality their love had that brought them to marriage has aged, withered, become a sour memory. It’s really kind of awful to see a woman so bright darkened by the shroud of his depression.
And yet, in those fleeting moments where they are still husband and wife, both actors really dig up the proof of that spark. There really was something there, it wasn’t a hastened choice, or a figment of their imaginations. In their faces the glow and warmth of tiny embers, from a thought to be dying flame are evident. Their need to separate is necessary but a sad ending.
The turn from poor happenstance to thriller film is so steady and well dressed in its lighting decisions. I’m no noir expert but the contrast of darkness and light and choice of angles and shapes in shots made a noir for me. That and the concept of an affair, hard marriage, femme fatale, older men, booze, cigarettes, and murder plot…
Now, more importantly. Anyone know where I can get my hands on that dress in my size?

For costume designer Shirley Kurata, the new A24 horror film came with an interesting task: She had to find a way to build a wardrobe for all of the characters that were equal parts glamorous, yet a little gory too. “With horror, you have to get multiples of everything, because there’s blood and all that,” says Kurata, who has also costumed films such as Everything Everywhere All at Once. “But [characters in horror are] not usually in fancy clothes—so that was a fun challenge to do.”

The Wolverine style guide
This is for all my fellow autistic bitches who tried to find a Wolverine-inspired style and went nuts because there are no real style analyses or guides of our favorite Peanut's dress code. The guide is below the cut!
Disclaimer: this doesn't include the styles of the Logan and The Wolverine movies, but rather his casual style in the X-Men movie saga. It also excludes his military days because he was usually wearing a uniform. If you want me to write a style guide based on those movies tell me :)
Tops
White tank tops (round neck)
White t-shirts (round neck)
Plaid button-downs (usually cream and red)
Solid button-downs (dark colors)
Patterned button-downs [in the 70s]
Jackets
Leather/biker jackets (around hip length)
Denim jackets
Denim sherpa jackets (below hip length)
Brown puff vest [in X-Men origins when working]
Bottoms
Bootcut jeans
Straight jeans
Shoes
Dark leather boots
Accessories
Brown leather belt with a big buckle
Dog tags [worn under shirts, not usually visible]
Square aviator-inspired brown sunglasses
Sassy poses
Notes
The button-downs are usually buttoned halfway, in some outfits where he's not wearing any jackets on top they're open
The shirts and button-downs are tucked into the pants when he wears a jacket. If he's working in a plaid/t-shirt combo they're untucked. He also wears just a tucked shirt and jeans in some scenes.
The jeans are a dark blue in X-Men origins onwards (chronologically) but in Days of Future Past they're a washed blue denim
The boots could be laced ankle working boots or cowboy-style boots. I couldn't tell which type they are in my references but both would look good with the style
#if you couldn't tell this was made for me but i thought id share it with yall#lmk if i missed anything! im open to feedback and suggestions#the wolverine#logan howlett#x men movies#the wolverine style guide#logan howlett style guide#style guide#movie fashion#wolverine fashion
