Friendly reminder that A Land for All is an excellent organization that is still, even now, working to create an equitable resolution to the conflict. Please check them out:
I also strongly recommend reading through their full proposal here.

imagine Solar Flare having a tail, but being completely expressionless . like they don't express any type of emotion, nobody knows what they're felling, except their tail gives them alway all the time.
They can gave you the most dead stare of your life, while their tail is just wagging behind them.

I imagine it was quite the adjustment
#the mechanisms#the mechanisms fanart#drumbot brian#art#digitial art#spent waaay too long trying to figure out how a robot body would move#bc humans are squishy! so much of how our movement works is based on the fact that our body parts can squish on top of each other#limb trying to move but the edge of the torso in the way? don't worry it'll just squish out of the way!#but brass doesn't squish!! i based him mostly off of ball jointed dolls#most obvious on his joints#but how his torso bends? man idk#also i had some ideas but god forbid i knew how to *draw* it#so his torso is in 3 sections (again: ball jointed doll) and then his rib section#has a back and front piece connected internally with hinges (which allows his sides to bend inwards for foward arm movement)#his shoulder blades as you can see are squares attached with hinges attached externally with hinges which allows his torso to bend back#which allows his arm a greater range of movement backwards without having 360 movable shoulder joints#1) bc carmilla probably tried to recreate human range of movements and idk who needs to hear this#but humans do not have 360 shoulder movement#2) relying on the ball joint for movement only is weak. for the strength of the attachment#2a) you have to pick between flexibility and strength when it comes to attaching 1 thing to another thing bc the more something moves-#-the less points of anchorage you have#2b) the brass of his upper arm and shoulder would constantly be rubbing against each other slowly wearing both away#which for an immortal brass maybe isn't the BIGGEST concern but i can't imagine it's very comfortable. so mitigate it#i might actually draw out a diagram of how i think Brian works. and it will be different from this drawing#bc tbh i did not put a ton of thought into it for this drawing. i would of torn my hair out#speaking of hair: brian's is made of copper wire. you ever part the hair on a doll and see bald head? yeah same situation with brian

i don’t understand how i can have such an acute level of pain without any renewed injury. i hurt my ribs eight years ago from constant violent seizures. i haven’t had one in over six years. so why do i still wake up some days in enough pain to make me nauseous?

gym bros love pretending that lifting form is like this insanely technical art form that takes years to master and it’s like. i mean you get better at it over the course of years that’s true but no lift worth doing has that crazy of a movement pattern. in fact most of them feel very natural and mirror things you already do in real life. it just feels like annoying ass gatekeeping trying to intimidate beginners and it’s so dumb dude

Today was the last DND session for a three-year campaign and I am big sad :(
One of the players brought whiskey for a last toast, which was very kind of them. I had never had whiskey before. Turns out I do not like whiskey. Unsurprising.
It tastes like slightly nicer hand sanitizer.
#blue chatter#it was a flavored whiskey as well#everyone else who had it said it was rly smooth and sweet#so I don’t think I super wanna know what regular whiskey tastes like#it was supposed to be like vanilla caramel flavored or smth#I was told it was like cream soda and that was a LIE it was like disinfectant#with a vanilla aftertaste#the campaign went rly rly well though#I’m seriously going to miss it#the final boss battle was just pure catharsis we absolutely whaled on that dark abberant goddess#she got Destroyed#an entire section of the continent restructured bc of the removal of her corruption#I rly like that my character got to be disabled at the tail end of this campaign#they wielded experimental magic that wasn’t supposed to work and resurrected someone who the Keeper very intentionally kept dead#it worked because they partially fused with Arawai the goddess of life and became her aspect on earth#but becoming partially divine in a mortal body takes a toll#they had more and more limited mobility and the more they cast magic to compensate the more of a toll it takes#functionally that meant my movement speed was reduced#and I lost more abilities after each combat as the consequences of overextending myself caught up to me#I wish I’d gotten to play this longer to see how this ended mechanically but it was a lot of fun to get a character who is both#very magically competent and still disabled and that still affects their ability and they still get the dignity of risk#to choose whether to continue casting or not knowing the consequences of doing so#it is very much a fantastical disability which I flavored heavily off of chronic fatigue and a mobility disorder#in-game their skin became hard and brassy around their joints which make them difficult and painful to bend#they lose a lot of sensation and fine motor control#thankfully they have a lot of money from their adventuring so they can commission an accessible house and mobility aids#and their friends help take care of them

meant to post these sooner but I have been soooo busy putting off crafts to think about posting pictures lol
ANYWAY as a late Xmas gift to myself I got two mystery boxes of these girlies from kikagoods and tbh I love them so much.
Like this is almost what im looking for in mermaid dolls, and they feel so good in my hands. My only complaint really is that the little one is SO FRICKING LOOSE she is so wiggly and hard to pose but shes cute so ill forgive it for now. Also her hair doesn't totally sit right but whatever.
I was finally comfy ordering these girlies bc I had picked up my grump bump boy at a toy show and he's so fantastic, literally one of my favs, so natch I needed more. Might order another of the bigger one when I have money again, bc even if I get a repeat I can just modify her bc I enjoy how her tail is made so much

constantly seesawing between “shadow’s the ultimate life form, logically speaking he wouldn’t have any physical weaknesses” and “to hell with that, give him fucked up knees and achy joints”
unmatched healing/regenerative abilities, sure, but the more damage he takes and has to heal/regenerate, the more impact it has on the associated joints and all that. it isn't noticeable the first few times, but they never quite heal/come back right, and over time that all really starts to add up
the older he gets, the more regularly he has to wear knee braces or compression gloves under his regular ones—and the air shoes, which already look like they're meant to be supportive, become even more of an obvious mobility aid
