Like did I miss something?

Why is everyone getting upset about Miguel and saying the animators/writers don’t care?

I keep seeing people say they did him dirty with his backstory and how they didn’t do anything with it.

But like isn’t there like a whole other movie still to come out. I thought the 3rd one was where they were going to get into Miguel’s story.

Was stuff confirmed or was it just vague/bad language that everybody is latching onto and just letting their fears/imaginations run wild?

"Let the tides carry you back to me." has always been among one of my favourite lines in Telomeres, and so, having listened to it again recently, a little idea popped into my head. Let me explain:

While ocean tides/currents is a very common metaphor, there's an underlying meaning to it. The ocean is a beautiful, but somewhat cruel place: tides can leave you stranded on a sandbank, or sweap you away before you even know it.

To put it in short, no object or creature that goes into the ocean comes out the same. For the tides to carry something back to you, something you've lost, it will be and always will be changed: eroded.

The cliffside will fall, the cave will crumble, etc etc.

With this in mind, we're yet again greeted with another example of Vessel asking for something he can't truly have. The person he wants will not be the same as they were before; they "collapse" into him, breaking apart, but still, to him, it's "the start of something."

His memory is warped, they are warped, and it'll stay that way.

However, what I would like to add is that, in DYWTYLM, it's theorised that instead of Vessel speaking to a second person, he's instead talking to himself.

Of course, this makes the song itself much more emotional (to me). Finding love for yourself is one of the hardest things you can do, but it has to be done to find love in others.

With that idea (stay with me here), the lyrics "Do you roll with the waves? Or do you duck into deep blue safety?" match up (generally) with Telomeres, which is mostly interpretated as being towards someone else.

So, what if some lines in Telemores are directed to himself as well?

Keep in mind, the tides don't just erode and carry objects (sediment), they also reflect. The Atlantic is one big mirror, and Vessel is staring into it's "deep blue safety" wondering what, or, rather, who, he was before he was Vessel.

Overall, the album name, "This Place Will Become Your Tomb", either being directed at Vessel or Vessel to Sleep (and being a Halo quote lmao), is more metaphorical than literal.

Who he was before Vessel sits in that coffin, not his physical body.

also like. if you're on tumblr & you see something you don't like, the best course of action is to block the person and move on. i've been on this site for eleven years, off & on, & once i started doing that, my experience was so much better. just block freely and frequently. block someone because you don't like what they said. or because the way they word things is annoying to you. or because you just don't like their theme or their url or their tagging system or whatever. just block and move on. you never have to see their posts again. you never have to interact with them again, or have them interact with you. you can forget they existed and your tumblr experience will be so much better for it.

I just think, the idea that Disha is lying about Kyoshi's honor and stuff to put some kind of wedge between Roku and Kyoshi would be really cool and spy-y and would fit really well with the weird Cold War-eque/espionage that Roku's era seems to want to emulate. It'd be a cool way of making him doubt himself without realizing he's doubting himself.

And it'd also force a parallel between Roku/Kyoshi and Kyoshi/Kuruk. How, while Kuruk appeared in RoK and Kyoshi didn't have the best opinion of him, really ramped up in her sequel novel to the point she wanted to fucking brawl him. The way it's set up now, Roku's timidness and confusion with Kyoshi could easily fester into the same hatred and want to confront her in Roku's sequel novel too.

And I'm also just grasping at straws but I just really fucking hate how RR is trying to drag Kyoshi through the gd mud. And like it just doesn't work with the knowledge we already know about her and he could've done something (anything really, he didn't utilize her at all) else with her character in Rokus era that would've better explored... and I'm also a bit of a bitter bitch about it. tbh

dunno how to articulate my thoughts without sounding mean but i'll try my best; it's so exciting when jh tries a new color and it's also exciting when he also seems to be enjoying it, but i think a problem in fandom culture in general is that need to have ownership over your [thing you like], in this case, jh, a real person. like you can be sad that jh is losing or toning down his purple hair because it was a good color and he looks good, but also at the end of the day it's his hair on his head and what he wants to do w his hair is his business only.

i say this because jh said in the latest radio station that he is going to tone down his purple hair in a few days, not because he doesnt like the color, but because his hair grows outward, a common thing that happens with your hair when you are of asian or hispanic descent. he needs down perms to literally "put down" the hair instead of it sticking straight out of his head. and down perms can fuck with the color if it's dyed.

so with this in mind, jh keeps his hair "boring" and black because he would rather his hair not be sticking straight out of his head and he doesnt want to sacrifice more time at the salon for color correction when it can just be his natural color. and thats really valid of him, just as it's valid of any other member or kpop idol to constantly dye their hair. it's his choice just like theirs and fans should respect his choice more.

My therapist has been subjected to multiple explanations of The Magnus Archives about how I've been using some of the concepts in it as shorthand for clusters of symptoms and as a method of externalization, so I cope better when they're happening. The last time we had one of these conversations, it moved to my anxiety and my cognitive distortions and, because my brain will never have normal associations to some words again, I was like "Omg, one of the characters in TMA is called the Distortion, and he is an avatar of the fear entity that's all about the fear that your mind has a skewed/false perception of the world"

So you'll never guess what associations got solidified in my mind in that moment

That's kind of the point lmao. If you're speaking Hindi, the word for bread is Naan. Ask for naan in New Delhi and they won't give you an american-style breadroll. If you're speaking Clanmew, the word for mole is Bosgo. Ask for Bosgo they will give you Bosgo.

If there was a Clan that was dealing with different species of mole with different behaviors, they may create new terms if need be. But there's one species of mole in the Clan cats' home and it's the European Mole, so Bosgo simply means that

I wanted to add on to this ask done by an anon on ST confessions, because they are so right and they made something click in my brain. Do go read it before you read this.

First, off, heavy agree that Fall for Me is designed to be a lonely song, both lyrically, and quite smartly, musically. In every single other song Sleep Token has ever done there is music. There is noise, always. Even in times where there should be silence, there never is any. Instead, it's filled by sounds of birds, a taught guitar chord or chewing and biting.

Fall for Me, however, is utter silence. There's no musical reply. No SFX, no subtle drums or bass; no nothing. It's the one of the few songs (along with Missing Limbs, Take Aim and Drag me Under) in which Vessel directly addresses the love he holds for this person. It's not layered in metaphors, prose and an eloquent vernacular, it's straightforward. While his poetry in other songs is used to draw Them in, decorate his love and entice Them, he's done with getting nothing. He wants to be an equal, a lover, but he gets naught.

The reason why, other than the obvious choice of acapella instead of instruments, the song feels so lonely is because it's the only song- overall- that he doesn't get a response to. Sugar is the response to The Offering, Say That You Will is the response to Take Aim etc., but here? Cold, dead silence. No gesture in tongues, no crushing 'affection'; no nothing.

So, to the rhythm of eternity, he will be on that beach, stumbling, crawling and shouting out the same question that he will never get an answer to; won't you fall for me?

However, even though, unlike most songs that get an answer within their album, Vessel gets one in the next. Take Me Back To Eden, therefore, becomes the answer to that question. As well as Vessel's action against it.

i don't want to get too into the weeds about what the one off blog carefulcareful was attempting to do with how they were posting information. i wasn't looking into who they were following and what that could possibly mean. i also do not care about who was running the blog for the short time it was up.

i think the last few days can be summed up into the following list

He made a bit of appearing on camera in his briefs, a common joke made by many and also during the pandemic when most of us were all online.

Screencaps of this were passed around on social media, and some took it out of context and blew it out of proportion to say this was something tasteless and borderline sexual harassment because people didn't consent to seeing Con in briefs

The situation divulged from there into some pretty homophobic rhetoric being made

This then turned into a pro vs anti situation in which basically boils down to people pearl clutching, building off of kink at Pride discourse, queer men are predatory discourse, and people just in general showing their ass about it.

This is just another round of fandom typical nonsense and arguments that has once again shown to people why OFMD in particular has a bad reputation to outsiders and why this needless nitpicking about a fictional character is now bleeding out into accusations targeting the cast.
