Attention, alterhumans!!

…particularly those in the UK!

This is a post to gauge interest in an educational organisation for therians and other alterhumans! It would have a focus on homeschooling and be mostly online, but would also be very open to anyone attending school.

As it stands right now, it would likely encompass an online community (e.g. on Discord), an archive of resources, “after-school clubs” of therian activities, and regular voice and/or text chat sessions to help with studying, talk about alterhumanity, or just be a bunch of nonhumans hanging out! However, if the project became large enough, we could be looking at irl meet-ups �� howls, hiking, wilderness walks, workshops and the like.

The organisation would also be able to support our humans with finding tutors and groups for home education purposes, and for those who are in school, supplementary lessons and tutors.

Basically, it’d be a big group of therians, otherkin, nonhumans and anyone under the alterhuman umbrella, for school purposes and also developing the ability to live in human society, without feeling othered or disconnected from their alterhuman identity.

hey! alright so i may have done a thing

so for the past,,, idk 3 weeks? ive been going on a deep dive into spelling bee mostly to sedate my own curiosity of needing to know everything about what i'm interested in. as it turns out, there is a LOT of content with this musical, so i'm here to talk about my findings! note: i will be keeping this EXCLUSIVE to the original 2005 off broadway cast. as much as i'm a brown university girlie through and through, the original cast is where the content is. OKAY FIRST: youtube findings

a lot of small videos were made usually with logainne and leaf. you'll be quick to learn that they made the most off stage content. i have a public playlist with these videos, along with interviews, the original boot, and a few other things. the cast album isn't in it because that's audio only and i want visuals damnit. (plus its on spotify and easy to look up so.) the exception is 25apcsbmt12doc because its pretty underground and the purpose is to get word out about niche things.

second: myspace pages a lot of the spellers have myspace pages! this is like. a common thing!! only two were archived (leaf and logainne) and are able to be accessed! i'll talk about the others in a bit. they contain new information and i personally find them very interesting!

r/v club is a short film by rebecca feldman (one of the people that worked on spelling bee) that includes logainne! it can be found on her site with other short films. i believe this is the only one with her in it HOWEVER i have not checked therefore i could be wrong. it's set post-spelling bee, i believe. also jesse is in it but not as leaf.

okay, spelling bee has.... QUITE a bit of lost media. again, this will be separated into parts.

4.1: C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E

before spelling bee was a thing, crepuscule (albiet mispronounced) was an improv play made by the farm. (same group who made r/v club) a lot of the characters were similar or the same, and it has a similar premise. however, it wasn't a musical. from what i've heard, there USED to be a boot of it, however i haven't found one of my own. i would love to be corrected.

4.2 myspace pages

remember how i was going to say this was going to come up again? hi thats now. outside of leaf and logainne, other myspace accounts were made! mitch (comfortcounselor), olive (mydictionary) + (oliveostrovsky), chip (chiptolentino), marigold (marigoldconeybear) an olive and barfee joint account (ilovemydictionary), and a leaf and logainne joint account (schwartzylogan). there's also another leaf account with the very confusing name of panchspell the issue with these is that theyre not archived, so you'll need a myspace account with a verified email to view these. in the year of our lord 2024 that's not exactly an easy find, especially since verification emails no longer send. plus, one of olive's accounts is dictionary.com now so,,,, who knows what it looks like there. most also need a connection, which makes things even MORE difficult. i hate how close but out of reach these accounts are.

4.3. spelling bee game

yeah they had a game. it's on the site, and it's eternally stuck at loading characters from my experience. here's the link anyway! game

4.4 the dirty bee

oh jesus its the dirty bee. so for context, in 2006 when the show was running, a few nights were booked for spelling bee that were meant for mature audiences and were 18 plus. it's catered towards people who have already seen the bee and want something new. it was inspired by jay (panch) and putting in words or sentences researsals that were clearly for funnies because he was bored. alas it became a derivative of the musical. all we know is what an article provides (theres more than one but the one linked gives the most info) and that chip quote unquote "finished off" at my unfortunate erection according to jose. there's rumor that chip is canonically bi in it but theres no sources so,,,, can't confirm that one.

Alastor broke into manic laughter. “I don’t even like cake!” he said. “I detest sweet things! Can’t stand them! But for some reason she Just. Keeps. Baking them!”

For some unknown reason, Charlie keeps baking Alastor cakes. With no sweet-tooth to speak of, nor the willpower to face Charlie’s disappointment should he turn down her gifts, Alastor seeks Rosie’s help with this dessert debacle.

Alastor made his way through Cannibal Town, walking with a purpose and a cardboard pastry box.

In fact, the box was his purpose for being in Cannibal Town today.

He needed advice. And who better to ask than his dear friend Rosie?

“Alastor!” Rosie dropped everything she was doing to come rushing over to him. “Oh, it’s so good to see you! Things get so gloomy here without you!”

Alastor lifted the box above his head and out of the way as Rosie wrapped an arm around his waist and pulled him in for a hug.

The movement drew Rosie’s eyes upwards, and after a moment spent embracing him, Rosie turned her attention to the box.

“What’ve we got here?” she asked.

“My reason for visiting!” Alastor announced. Then, somewhat quieter, “If I could just speak to you in private…”

“Of course, of course!” Rosie ushered Alastor away from the crowd and into one of the more secluded spaces of her emporium – the same room they’d used to discuss Rosie’s potential involvement in defending the hotel.

“Come, sit down, get comfy.” She motioned for Alastor to take the closer chair, then crossed the table to take her own seat.

Alastor did sit, but he felt far from comfortable.

“Well?” Rosie folded her hands in her lap, and Alastor felt distinctly aware of his own hands, still gripping the cardboard box. “Show me what’s in this mysterious box of yours.”

Alastor set the box on the table and opened it to reveal…

“A cake?” Rosie laughed. “Alastor, you charmer, did you bake me a cake?”

Alastor exhaled in a sigh, releasing a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding.

“Actually, Charlie did!” he said, doing his best to keep his cadence and tone in its typical Transatlantic manner. “Although she baked it for me. I just didn’t want it to go to waste and was hoping you might know of at least one demon around here with a sweet tooth!”

Rosie raised one eyebrow. “There’s more you’re not tellin’ me, dearie,” she said.

Alastor looked down at the cake. Then back up at Rosie. Then at the cake again.

Even with his smile, Rosie could read him like an open book. There was no point in trying to deceive her. And besides, he had come here to ask for her help.

“This isn’t the first cake,” Alastor confessed. “This isn’t even the second or the third! No, no, no, this is the sixth – the sixth – cake she’s given me since I returned to the hotel!”

Alastor broke into manic laughter. “I don’t even like cake!” he said. “I detest sweet things! Can’t stand them! But for some reason she Just. Keeps. Baking them!”

“And then she hands them off to me with that smile of hers and…” Alastor closed his eyes.

He didn’t tell Rosie that he’d grown fond of Charlie. That he genuinely considered her a friend and couldn’t stand the thought of seeing that smile fall. A smile that was so unlike his own: honest and true where his was a weapon, a mask, and – more often than not these days – a lie.

He didn’t need to. Because Rosie already knew.

Alastor opened his eyes and folded his hands on the table. “I just don’t want it to go to waste,” he repeated, and it was half true.

“Why don’t you give it to one of the other guests at that hotel of hers?” Rosie asked.

“Because she would know,” Alastor insisted. “Vaggie and Angel Dust would sell me out in a heartbeat! Even if I gave it to Husker or Niffty and ordered them not to tell, it would only be a matter of time before she figured it out.”

“And besides,” he added. “Niffty really shouldn’t be eating this much sugar.”

Niffty on a sugar rush was a level of chaos even Alastor struggled to endure. At one point, the tiny cyclops had eaten an entire batch of cupcakes and wound up deep cleaning Alastor’s radio tower and stabbing a dozen demons – one of which was Alastor, himself! Non-lethally, of course. Although, the same couldn’t be said for the other eleven.

“Well, what did you do with the other five?” Rosie asked.

“Opened a portal and threw them into the same dimension I summon my tentacles from,” Alastor said with a dismissive hand wave. “They’re probably rotting in there. I’m not entirely sure whether or not those abominations eat, but I’d assume that if they do, they’re carnivorous.”

Rosie shrugged. “Well, I don’t mind sweets myself,” she said. “I prefer when they’ve got a little blood baked in, of course, but I can make do.”

“Thank you,” Alastor said, relief washing over him as Rosie picked up a knife to cut herself a slice.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do if she keeps this up,” he admitted.

Alastor knew what he had to do, and what would happen if he failed to do it. But he didn’t like the looks of either option.

Either Alastor was going to have to tell Charlie to stop and watch her mope around like a kicked puppy, or someone would eventually figure out that he was going out of his way to avoid disappointing her.

His reputation had already taken a massive hit after his battle with Adam – his televised defeat, his failure. He couldn’t afford to let any more evidence of weakness reach the masses.

Alastor’s inner monologue was interrupted by Rosie’s laughter.

“What?” he asked. “What’s so funny?”

Rosie stifled her laughter and put a hand on Alastor’s shoulder. “I think I might just have an answer to your dessert debacle, darling.”

“Oh?” Alastor’s ears perked up at the thought of a solution.

“Tell her you’d rather have garlic bread,” Rosie said, smiling ear to ear. “Bonus points if you use those exact words.”

Alastor tilted his head at a forty five degree angle. Garlic bread? he wondered. What does garlic bread have to do with anything?

But, he did prefer garlic bread to cake. Maybe if he could channel Charlie’s inexplicable urge to bake towards something he might actually eat, then he could have his cake and eat it too, so to speak.

“Well, it’s worth a shot!” Alastor decided. “Thank you for the advice, my dear. I may not grasp the particulars, but I trust your judgment! You always did have such a knack for these things. Why, it’s no wonder you’re Cannibal Town’s go-to gal for guidance.”

“Aww,” Rosie cooed, swatting playfully at his arm. “You’re such a flatterer. You’re gonna make me blush!”

Rosie hummed and took a bite of Alastor’s unwanted cake.

“Guess you’d better get back to that hotel and tell the Princess about the menu change before she fires up the oven again,” she said after swallowing the bite.

Alastor laughed. “Oh, I think I can stay a while,” he said. “Surely she’s gotten it out of her system for the time being.”

“You said this is the sixth cake?” Rosie asked.

“Yes,” Alastor confirmed.

“And would you say the rate she bakes them is consistent?”

“Hm,” Alastor hummed. “The first one was to celebrate my return… Then she baked another later in the month, then one about a week later… Two last week, and now…”

“Shit,” he cursed as it finally hit him. “The cakes are increasing.”

“Mhmm,” Rosie hummed. “How long did you have this one before you managed to sneak it out of the hotel?”

Alastor’s smile widened. “Well, it was great chatting with you, darling!” he said, wrapping Rosie into a hug and preparing to take his leave. “I’ll be seeing you!”

Rosie giggled. “Good to see you too, Alastor.”

She hugged him back, wished him luck, and just like that, Alastor was on his way.

Rosie speared a piece of cake onto her fork, capturing all four distinctly dyed layers – black, gray, white, and purple, in that order.

“Oh, Alastor,” she said to herself with a sigh.

If only he would stop cutting her off every time she tried to actually bring up the concepts of asexuality and aromanticism.

Rosie could make jokes and puns that flew over Alastor’s head – although not over a certain Princess’s head, apparently – day in and day out, but the minute she tried to explain the identities behind them, she was met with, ‘I don’t care for all those modern labels,’ and ‘I don’t understand what any of this has to do with me!’

Too bad, really. Alastor would probably get a kick out of aroace in-jokes. Even if he didn’t like cake.

Protagonism and the Nature of Fiction

A Deltarune Theory Essay

NOTE: THIS IS NOT FINISHED.

Before I start, I'd like to say that I originally intended to make this a video essay, but I don't have a microphone and there really isn't any good free editing software. So what else would I do but make an overly long Tumblr post that no one's going to see? Mostly this post just serves as a way for me to archive my thoughts on the matter of some of Deltarune and Undertale's biggest mysteries, but on the off chance that someone does see this post, I'd like to at least make it intelligible for someone else. When I say this is a long post, I mean this is a LONG post. I don't know if there's a character limit on Tumblr posts, but if there is I'll probably exceed it. With that said, read on.

:: I: The Nature of Fiction ::

One of the biggest things Undertale's known for is its frequent fourth-wall breaks. One of the biggest things Deltarune's known for is its clear implication of a diagetic player. Both of these games toy with subverting conventional video game expectations (especially within the context of RPGs) as well as deconstructing and critiquing tropes that are, at this point, ingrained into conventional game design. This aspect is great for both games, because it lends a very compelling meta narrative to them and allows for some rad worldbuilding opportunities. Making SAVEing and LOADing diagetic, for example, reminds the player that what they do has consequences within the world and is not just a part of the menu. So, the natural conclusion for most people playing these games is that these aspects must be fourth-wall breaks; that the game and the fictional world are one and the same. Examples of this notion in Undertale include things like "Flowey knows he's in a game," or "Sans knows what LV and EXP are that thus realizes he's in a game" or something like that. In Deltarune it's "Gaster took over Toby's Twitter account," "Ralsei knows he's in a game, that's why he mentions controls and knows there's a predetermined narrative," "Gaster's talking directly to the player," "Spamton and Jevil also know that the world is a game," etcetera etcetera.

But really, the idea that Undertale and Deltarune make fourth wall breaks at all just isn't true, and it's what I'd like to disprove here.

Sure, SAVEing and LOADing may be 'diagetic' in a way, but it has an analogue within the fictional world of Undertale. In Undertale it's just magical time travel that occurs whenever the being with the most determination in the universe dies or decides to 'LOAD' their 'SAVE'. It's not diagetic in the way most people think it is. Meta textually it's more literal, sure, but not within the fictional world. Flowey doesn't know he's in a video game. I doubt if he knows what a video game is. I think that he's come to see the world as a metaphorical game, or that he's aware that the fictional universe of Undertale is being manipulated by higher entities. It's also important to realize, however, that fourth wall breaks are, by the nature of fiction, impossible to do without completely breaking a fictional world and all semblance of immersion for the audience. You see, a game, a book, a movie, and a piece of art (to an extent) all serve the same purpose: to abstractly represent by means of gameplay, textual narrative, abstraction, or sequential narrative devices, a fictional world that resides in the collective unconscious of its audience. A fictional world does not really exist anywhere except within the minds of the people who engage with it. Characters represent fictional people and are wholly separate from them. It's the difference between a stage play depicting a real life event and the people involved, and the event and people themseleves. The game Undertale is wholly separate from its fictional world. In the game, when you enter a different room on the map, the previous one is no longer loaded. It's objects and processes within the GameMaker engine cease to be considered. Its collision physics are no longer accounted for. Does this mean that, within the fictional world, everything outside of Frisk's range of vision ceases to exist? No. Obviously not. If you were to perform a fourth wall break, then what you are doing is merging the fictional world and the game. Anything that happens in the game, is one hundred percent literal within the fictional world it represents. Anything that doesn't happen within the game literally never happened within the fictional world. History is erased. Canonically, people are made up horrifying almagamations of pixelated 2 dimensional sprites, half second long .ogg files, and lines of dialogue. It's a veritable ontological nightmare, as every person in existence is replaced with slightly different versions of themselves saying different things every couple of seconds. Everything that does not exist in the playable area does not exist in the fictional world, if you admit that the fictional world and the game world are synonymous.

(Now that I think about it, these kinds of concepts could be really cool to toy around with in a game like The Stanley Parable.)

You see what I'm getting at? Fourth wall breaks are impossible. Everything that seems like a fourth wall break in Undertale and Deltarune has to have an analogue in the fictional world that the games represent. The player is not diagetic within Deltarune, you're just controlling an eldritch, timeline-traversing entity that can take control of people's SOULs and annihilate timelines. I mean, sure it comes to the same thing, but it doesn't mean that YOU are diagetic to Deltarune. Jevil doesn't think that the world is literally a video game, he just knows that the universe is being manipulated by entities outside of it and that the fate of the universe is predetermined (literally by Toby Fox, meta textually a theme of freedom and destiny, and within the fictional world by a godly entity). Gaster didn't fucking take over Toby Fox's Twitter account, Toby just used his Twitter account as a way to implement a narrative device for the release of Deltarune. Gaster still canonically said that stuff, I think, but this just mean's he's contacting the interdimensional cosmic horror entity and speaking to them. Any meta fuckery has to happen on a metatextual or gameplay level in order for the fictional world to maintain its integrity. When Ralsei and those Froggits in the Ruins mention keyboard controls, it's just for player convenience. In universe it would make no sense to be like:

"Hey Kris, did you know that you can walk faster with [X]? I hope that's helpful . . . "

"Ralsei what the fuck are you talking about?"

I don't think Ralsei even knows what a keyboard is. And, yes, I know he's talking to the player here.

(Side note: Ralsei's general tendency to say stuff about controls, to be the only one to mention SAVE points, to have the notion that there's a predetermined narrative to follow, and something else I'll get to later, is, I think, a vague metaphorical allusion to the fact that he knows a lot about the nature of the Deltarune universe and is aware that something's controlling Kris.)

Yeah. So generally any kind of fourth wall break that's there for player convenience or humor I would just declare isn't canon. Like ... as in the characters literally never said it. 4th wall breaks by characters are wildly inconsistent anyways; Mettaton mentions an "on-screen keyboard" in Undertale during his fight, but uh ... that seems like it would have some pretty serious implications if he actually said that and understood what he was saying, and yet it's never mentioned again.

When someone engages with a fictional world and immerses themselves within it, they experience the narrative within the context of the fictional world. They see everything through the lens of someone that exists within that world. One does not consider the medium of the fiction anymore, they just consider the fiction being presented to them. A person playing God of War doesn't consider the fact that they're playing a video game, they just see the world through the lens of Kratos. It's analogous to a person getting closer to a screen until it fills their range of vision. It occupies their entire mind; they cease to consider anything outside of that ... they are simply engaging with the fiction as though it was real. When the fiction acknowledges the medium that it's in, or makes some reference to it, or clearly relies on it, the person engaging with it mentally takes a step back from this metaphorical screen and from there on considers the medium that the fiction resides in as an integral component of it. For most people this is what happened with Undertale. Undertale's meta-narrative is deeply intertwined with its conventional narrative, but the two never intersect. At no point are you, the player, actually literally implicated within the world of Undertale. Most characters defer to your actions to Frisk, while some like Sans don't actually speak to Frisk but instead what they perceive as just some otherworldly entity. Flowey calls you "Chara." Chara ... doesn't really make it clear what's going on with them. The relationship between Frisk, Chara, and the player is extremely ambiguous and isn't really the point of this thesis but suffice it to say, Undertale doesn't make any 4th wall breaks outside of a cheeky meta-textual level. My point is, the acknowledgement of a medium by a piece of fiction that resides within it destroys the integrity and internal logic of that fiction. The idea of a video game character realizing that they're in a video game is entirely, fundamentally paradoxical. That means you just kind of ... destroy the unseen, unspoken barrier between fiction and medium. Like ... there are no people that could "realize" anything! If they've broken out of the bounds of that fictional world, then the fiction itself acknowledges that these people never existed, that they literally cannot realize they're in a video game because there is no one that could realize anything. A fictional character cannot "deviate" from the narrative, because, by definition, the author of that fiction would have had to plan that bit of the story out. It is fundamentally paradoxical. It is the textbook definition of a paradox. Why, why, why, does everyone get the idea that a character could do this? It's absurd, and I hope you see my point because the nature of fiction is kind of a difficult concept to articulate in words.

So as a general rule of thumb, it's imperative that a fictional world and the medium it's being represented must be divorced from each other. Not that the medium can't be conveyed or acknowledged through storytelling or meta-textual elements, but the narrative, and, by extension, the characters and world must not rely on the medium. Games like DDLC break this. There's no other medium that game could possibly be represented in. It's a great game, and I love what it does and how it screws with the player, but what it means is that the fictional world and the game are one and the same, which could be problematic if you want serious storytelling and you want your audience to care what happens in the fictional world. I mean, I don't think it matters that much, in terms of how an audience will perceive it, but it certainly breaks serious immersion. My point is, it must be possible to convey the story of Deltarune in other mediums. Well, okay, the fact that Deltarune has a protagonist that we control is a crucial element to the story, but my point still stands. I guess if it was in another medium we would just follow Kris as they are suddenly possessed by Lovecraftian horror beyond their comprehension, but that wouldn't be nearly as effective or compelling storytelling. And while Undertale being represented in the medium of a retro-looking RPG is also part of the storytelling, it could definitely still be told through, like, a TV show or movie or something. It's just that Undertale's subversion of tropes and subtle jabs at the RPG genre in general make the narrative even more compelling, and lend it a really artful humor.

Tucker is the spiderman in his universe with Church as his "guy in the chair". (Putting it out there that this Church is Alpha, which is significant later on.)

They both share an apartment, I don't think I ever specified why but probably for school reasons. They're both young adults, I want to say around 19-21, similar to their Blood Gulch years.

Tucker loves being spiderman. He loves helping people, being almost an idol for people- a lot of jokes were thrown around about that:

No one will Ever be able to understand what it's like to be spiderman but other spiders, regardless of how much you tell them or show them, they won't get it. and Church doesn't Get it. regardless, Church hates it but he also hates how much he cares about Tucker. Cocreator said that he figured they were both close and willing to become A Thing but the time was never right, and Tucker was scared of liking a dude, etc. Normal stuff between these two. But they're insanely close, I'd like to think even moreso after Tucker's whole spiderman thing and the fact that Church also has to realize that Tucker is not invincible.

Now this is the kicker of why I said to take note of the fact this is Alpha Church specifically.

Now I'm aware of the clowning on the whole "canon event" thing and some people's opinion on it (mostly that it's dumb and cliche), but I find it a very unique and convenient way to give a character a significant plot boost.

That being said, Tucker's "canon event" is Church's death.

I don't ever think I solidified how/why he dies, moreso that it's just a wrong-place wrong-time type of thing. Some brainstorming from Donut about it:

Tucker finds Church similar to how Miles found Peter in the first Spiderverse movie. He doesn't know what to do. He's frantic and scared and horrified that his best friend is coughing up blood with raspy breaths.

Obviously. Obbbviousllyy Tucker is distraught and inconsolable. Something something he has the Worst depression of his life. He doesn't know what to do with himself, the one person who knew about everything is gone, and I'm sorry (not) lol but it's not like in rvb where Church revives 8 times before dying like a normal person.

Church was always there for Tucker and he's at a loss of what to do now because, despite the threat of it, he should've never died. It wasn't even a concern in his head ever because it seemed so unlikely.

Tucker doesn't know what to do with himself, he wouldn't have gotten this far without Church. But really, it was All Tucker. All Church did was give him little tech bits to help him function better but it was All Tucker. But he isn't able to realize that through everything and it ruins him.

Punk Rock in Israel: The Hidden Anti-Zionist Resistance

This article was originally published in the San Francisco bay area newspaper D.I.Y. ZINE, issue #2, which sells for a hefty $0.00 and is mostly distributed through anarchist and punk collectives and hotspots throughout the bay. I received my copy during a Subhumans concert at the famous punk music venue, 924 Gilman Street. As far as I know, there are no online copies of this newspaper--and this is due to the stated goal of giving readers a break from social media. If the author of this zine finds this, I justify this digitization of the contents with the purpose of archival. More on that in the disclaimers.

Due to the massive uptick in antisemitic sentiments during the last year (although coming from a place of understandable defensiveness from most), I was inspired to show my corner of the internet the tangible proof of not only Jewish but specifically Israeli resistance to the sickness that is Zionism. Jewish people are not a monolith, and I don't claim to speak for all of us--neither does anyone involved in the resistance movement--but I wish by redistributing this article to prove that we as Jews are not biologically predisposed to genocidal rhetoric, as some people may believe. Second or third generation Israelis didn't choose to be born on blood-stained soil any more than Americans did, and despite the intense propaganda influencing the general public, there are many dissenters, draft-dodgers, and conscientious objectors among their numbers. Jews are people too. We resist fascism, just like you.

Can you tell us about the benefit compilation for Gaza, specifically the “Black List” compilation released by the record label Met By Pogo on Bandcamp?

This benefit compilation was created by me and Fekete (the drummer in the band) for two reasons – the first is for Israhell citizens and mostly for the punk and underground communities. To speak against the rotten core that the state of Israhell was built on has always been an opinion that's silenced, and now, while war propaganda and the war machine are working nonstop, it's silenced more than ever. Oftentimes the people who open their mouths get threats of violence for it.

We call to the people – DO NOT STAY SILENT WHILE THE STATE OF ISRAEL COMMITS HORRORS, not against the people of Gaza and not against its own people. Those citizens will always be connected, and if people think that it won’t get to them, they’re wrong. If people choose not to care or put their heads in the sand about the genocide in Gaza, it’ll also get to them one day. Citizens’ lives are citizens’ lives, and it doesn’t matter if they’re the same race, color, religion, etc.

We also want to show the people here that if they care – about people’s lives, about the future in the middle east, or about the next generation, they HAVE to speak about the shit that floats*, they HAVE to refuse silence and they HAVE to be active against the fascism that has always existed in Israhell and is now in so much power that everyone around it gets hurt.

(*T/N: as far as I can tell, this is a phrase that means "stupid bigoted shit". I didn't see it as important enough to reword.)

The second reason for this compilation is to show people around the world that there is ALWAYS a resistance, always violence against the system, even when it’s hard to notice it.

In the Punk and Anarchist communities here, there is no place for bootlickers, fascists, people who support this war or this government – we raise a loud and clear voice: all the people who got “sobered” (a nickname for the people who suddenly decided that they support Israel, and that the Palestinians were “always the enemy” after they claimed to be “supporting peace”, which questions if they were ever really supporting peace and didn’t just do it because it was comfortable) can fuck off. Any people who support the ongoing militarism, the genocide, this huge lie of “war for survival” can fuck off. We don’t look for a shitload of punks, we look for people who share the ideology behind it: people who stand for others and not just for themselves, and people who actually care for the brightest future and not only for tomorrow.

Can you tell me about your band, “Holocausts”, and the collective you work with?

Holocausts is an anarcho-punk band which is built on the idea that we live through more than just the music.

The idea was and always will be the same – to stand for people, for freedom and liberation for EVERYONE, to stand against fascism, racism, militarism, religious extremists, against zionism and anything that ruins the hope for a better future – for us and the people around us.

The name of the band stands for reminding us that holocausts have happened before, are happening right now, at this moment, and will happen in the future if we continue on the path of hate, if we support ethnic and racial supremacy, if we support the system without questioning any of its actions, if we care only about those who share the same flag, the same race, color, ethnic or religious identity as us.

The name is also aimed straight to Jewish people, because the term is associated mostly with the Jewish holocaust, and it is a key event in Jewish history. Because of it, we believe that we were taught the greatest lesson of what fascism and racism can lead to – if we choose to learn from history, we cannot both repeat the same mistakes and create a better future. If we use this event to justify any wrongdoing in excuse of our self-defense and persecution, we will never end this circle of hatred and death.

It’s important to understand that a lot of the “survival state” which is built inside the citizens of Israhell is created by propaganda and education that every citizen gets from day one. We get taught that we were always persecuted and always surviving, which creates an image in the citizen of always living in fear, and therefore teaches them to always be in a protective mode (which lets you attack others). To better understand it, I recommend watching the movie “Yizkore – Slaves of Memory” from the 90s, which is still relevant today.

The collective “Met Ba Pogo” (Dead in Pogo) is our collective. It goes hand-in-hand with the band Holocausts, and we run it. It has existed for more than seven years for making D.I.Y. shows and festivals, mostly outdoors, with the idea of creating a T.A.Z. (Temporary Autonomous Zone), and also hosting benefit shows for many causes.

The ideology behind the collective is to create a new way of thinking and looking in a conservative place like Israel, to show people that there is another way and to create a community around us which will support each other and fight fascism, racism, egoism, patriotism, militarism, patriarchy, sexual harassment, rape, and any bad or ugly behavior in our society.

A lot of people believe and assume all Israelis are Zionists. We don’t see much coverage of anti-war or pro-Palestine rallies in the news—only “Free the Hostages” protests. Can you tell us about some of the things happening that aren’t covered in mainstream news, including activist work you participate in?

Here in Israhell as well as outside of it, any kind of resistance or protest is hidden from the mainstream news in order to keep people from asking questions (like the situation in Gaza – which is almost completely hidden in the media so as to not create any empathy or conscience in Israeli citizens). Any mainstream media is and always will be in cahoots with the state, and therefore they will never show what doesn’t go in line with war/state propaganda.

There are protests that stand for stopping the war and are against the genocide in Gaza, against settlers’ violence in the west bank. There are organizations which campaign against the starvation of Gaza (last week, more than 400 trucks were sent by those citizen organizations with donations of food and other groceries from all over the country).

There are organizations that work to raise awareness of the crimes that the state of Israhell commits, which call for a real solution and not for the one Israel applies as the stronger side, and many other kinds as well. One of the most important organizations I work with and recommend to keep an eye on is “Standing Together”, which has been active for years and has been doing blessed work in getting Jews and Arabs to stand together, working against racism, helping at protests (they have helped me and many others get out of arrest), making donations and other such things.

How do you deal with being a punk rocker in Israel who opposes the mainstream political narrative?

Being a punk in Israel is a very, very bad idea, but I also feel it’s the most correct thing to be. Punk goes with being a human, with freedom. Israhell is always on the verge of being either hell or heaven for its citizens and the people around it; it’s built on a lot of rotten cores which take the freedom from others, and at the same time, it’s full of many cultures, colors, and varieties of people. If we choose to make it a better place, for EVERYONE – it will be a heaven.

But if we decide that this place is only for Jews who act by the book, it will be a living hell.

There has always been a large amount of people working to make a better place here, and now it feels like an important crossroad – either this place will be doomed forever, or finally, after the construct (of Israel) has fallen, we will build a new one that doesn’t stand on a rotten core and will let everyone live freely. Because this place is full of Zionist and racist ideology, it (being a punk) gets a lot of backlash, but I think that, because it’s trying to be a very western place – punks here at least don’t get in too much trouble for how they look (but they do get in a lot of trouble for their ideology).

Have you faced any significant challenges or backlash from your family, friends, the local community, or authorities because of your pro-Palestinian stance? How do you navigate that?

Always, and now more than ever. My family is pretty much all Zionist to some extent, so I get backlash from them. My friends mostly feel the same as me, but the community at large is resistant to empathizing with Palestinians, and they try to silence it by any means possible.

Propaganda here has always tried to make even the word “Palestinian” an illegitimate term, but it’s more than hypocritical to legitimize the Israeli nationality and not the Palestinian one.

The solution will begin only on the day when people aren’t scared to death of just legitimizing the Palestinian nationality, let alone Palestinian rights and a future where BOTH nations can live peacefully. Until then, we are doomed for decades more of the cycle of hatred, death and terror.

Standing for Palestinian rights here is directly associated with supporting terror, in attempt to make it an illegitimate opinion. Personally, I try to start a dialogue with those who are willing to listen/get out of their comfort zone and their ego. But for those who don’t, I just ignore them. People constantly send me death threats these days, hate messages and so on, and they’ll continue to do so. And I want to say, if some of you fascist masturbation addicts read this – you can suck my ass.

What message do you want to send to the global punk community about the situation in Israel and Palestine?

I want to say that even though the situation right now seems hopeless, though things seem blacker than ever and we can’t imagine an end, hope or change – I believe that it will come.

Maybe not now. Maybe it’ll take some time, even decades. But because the situation has now reached an extreme, and because Israeli citizens are starting to understand that power, that revenge and war are just leading to more pain, more deaths, and not a solution – because the world sees what’s happening in Gaza, because everyone understands that the fascists took over, promising a future with empty words and actions only creating destruction – because of all this, the picture will soon change.

I have to admit, I’m always trying to look on the bright side, and I might come off as a little naive. But history and the nature of humanity has taught us (and still teaches us) that when there’s something rotten on the inside, there’s a need for chaos to dismantle it, and when there’s chaos – the nature of human kind will always create from it a new order.

What does being anti-Zionist mean to you, both personally and as a punk rocker? How has this shaped your life and music?

To me it’s just another symptom. Just like being against racism, fascism, against borders and flags, against religions, against dividing people by force, against egoism, against militarism, against violence, sexual harassment, rape, greed and more.

All of these things can be heard as nice and romanticized individual titles, but they actually all go hand-in-hand with each other, and are a part of being MORAL people who have values. The way that I see it, punk first and foremost stands for being human. The mohawks, piercings, tattoos, studs, vests, boots, and all that stuff is only a choice of fashion, and it’s a bonus. The music and the shows are only a bonus, and they are worth NOTHING if you don’t hold these ideas. Punk and anarchism stand for freedom, and it is worth nothing if only you are free. We are not free, and our freedom is only an illusion, or temporary, until everyone is free. Getting back to Zionism, I see it as one of the most irrelevant and yet dangerous ideologies existing in Israel. Firstly, it’s not important that the Jews have their own country instead of living around the world. Secondly, it creates an excuse for the Jews to always feel persecuted (and today’s danger is presented as the Arab countries surrounding Israhell wishing to destroy and exterminate the Jews). And thirdly, it creates a belief of Jewish supremacy, that the Jews are worth more than others and that they are the chosen nation.

Can you describe the punk rock scene in Israel? What makes it unique? Are there specific challenges or obstacles you face?

The punk scene in Israel is very lively and is a sort of “island” of freedom and another way of life in a place as conservative as Israhell. Beside the fact that the system, government, and the whole idea of life in Israel oppose punk almost completely – one of the greatest obstacles here is the fact that almost everyone gets enlisted in the army when they turn eighteen. Think of where you were at eighteen: for me, personally, I wanted to do stupid stuff and get drunk – but the people here are sent to fight wars and told to defend loved ones, family and country. This machine is smart and works well to get the masses brainwashed into being a lot more patriotic, militant, supportive of the country, the government, ready to obey any command, destroying the ability to question things.

So, a lot of young punks still getting into the community treat it, unfortunately, as a transition point, and when their friends/family/society pressures them to be like everyone else, they join the army and become one of the herd, losing their freedom in the process. The problem is that this militant machine works so well that when people who don’t live here read this, it sounds delusional for sure – but for people here who are against the machine and the brainwash, we mostly get called infantile and naive.

*Important to note – getting out of the army is a hard-ass mission; for me it was almost impossible until the day I was supposed to be recruited, and I had to scream that I would commit suicide if they recruited me to the army. Many others found weird ways, but the army has no interest in letting anyone get out and slackers can face jail time or other sanctions.

But – also because of that, whenever people here stay and live by the principles of punk and anarchy, and do not let the conservatism of Israhell bend their beliefs and way of life – this makes our principles stronger, and this is why I believe in them more than many living in places which are already “free”. Because we don’t care that we’ll be hurt for it, we don’t care that it’ll be hard and we’ll spit blood and be hated for it, and that’s what makes it a lot more authentic.

Punk is not a way of life that’s supposed to exist only where it’s easy and nice – it has to exist wherever freedom and liberation is needed, and it must support the freedom and liberation of those around it. This is why, even though the community here isn’t so big, the vast majority of us are committing our lives to it and live this idea not as a fashion or as a momentary fascination – but as an idea and a way of life.

Any specific stance or solutions you see to stopping the conflict in Palestine and Israel and to establish peace?

First of all, the right-wing, fascist, religious extremist government of Israhell needs to go home. I probably don’t need to elaborate, but nobody trusts them anymore, and they brought to light the greatest proof that fascism only brings destruction and death. Politicians are always rotten, but when the whole government is built from actual settlers who equal Jewish nazis and politicians who go hand-in-hand with their ideology, it seeps into the whole society, and any time at war sends the whole country farther to the extreme right. Secondly, one needs to understand what ruins this society from the inside – security will never be brought by war and destruction; it can only bring in the next war, pain and agony, and create future enemies to the next generations.

Thirdly, there is a need to talk, to open and fix the past injustices that have occurred and the many injustices that are still occurring – including the occupation, the controlling of others, the ethnic cleansing the humiliation and the murders.

To sweep it under the rug is only to make the problem bigger and the solution farther from everyone. The only solution is peace, but peace won’t come if Israel tries to “apply” it as the stronger/winning side, and it won’t come through force. It’ll come only when we abandon our egos, the smugness and haughtiness, the elitism and the hunger for power. Now that we’re at rock-bottom, it’s time for society to think again and find another way. A true solution.

Only the future will reveal what happens here, but I really hope that people won’t aim for another endless circle of hate and pain, and will instead aim to end this conflict. I hope that people here will stop being afraid of the world and of the existence of Palestine, and instead understand how to live with it and next to it – because if not, there will never be any tranquility for any side.

Announcement.

I have mostly lost interest in the celestial same picverse, so I won’t be posting much here anymore. I’m going to make some final arrangements and say goodbyes, then cease posting.

(JUST TO BE CLEAR-I am not blaming anyone. No one harassed me or whatever and made me lose interest. I do not want to start drama about this.)

I originally made this blog as a central resource for the celestial same picverse to reference so they could keep track of all the new community members. I don’t want to leave with no warning. As such, this blog will remain for archival purposes.

Note: this is a sideblog of mine, so it is possible to turn it into a group blog and other people can take over. If you are interested in taking over this blog, please contact me. I’m sure the more active members of this community would put it to good use.

It was fun while it lasted, and I hope y’all continue having fun.

so here's the deal re: this fucking horseshit. god i hate this.

i, personally, have mostly given up on trying to dodge inclusion in AI datasets. the stuff i make generally isn't what they're looking for anyway and there's no real way to 100% avoid being scraped short of becoming entirely invisible online, which would um, lead to me having no money and dying. that's part of the cruelty of all this, but also, in a way, it's the same risk artists online have always taken; if you want people to see your work, you have to post it knowing that some of those people are fucking lowlife piece of shit scumbags who will try to resell it on redbubble or something for a quick buck. AI is just a new and exhausting way for garbagey people to stink worse. i am not in any way excusing that behavior or trying to imply people should not be mad about it or that we shouldn't condemn this move and fight back. "if you don't want your work stolen, don't put it online" is the kind of shitty Internet Tough Guy talk i've always hated since my dA days. it's as useless and heartless as telling people that if they don't want their bikes stolen, they shouldn't leave them at the bike rack. i'm saying that i, personally, will not let a bunch of soulless thieving shitheads drive me offline. i belong here. they belong in a wifi-proof dumpster.

nightshade and glaze eat my artwork alive. they make it look terrible. when you have to sell things on the basis that they look nice, it's a big problem when protective measures make them look like dogshit. my work is not a good candidate for these processes. even if that weren't the case, i don't have the stamina, especially right now while my chronic pain is flaring for the third month in a row and my adhd meds are scarce, to go back and shade/glaze everything, and it wouldn't work on reblogs anyway. given the way midjourney and its equally stinky siblings have already scraped years and terabytes' worth of image data from popular websites, it doesn't seem worth my time. if you think it is worth yours i am not going to like, yell at you. i am just one person. but i want to be clear about the kind of situations some of us are being forced into.

i think some of the doomsaying about AI and what it will do to us has been overblown-- they need you, for marketing purposes, to believe that someday their shitty robot will be as good at "drawing" and as practical to work with as a human-- but the consequences of "AI" (which is not even actually AI) are already real and visible and obvious to anyone paying attention. i unfortunately am not infinitely wise and powerful and therefore do not have an ideal all-encompassing solution to this deeply stupid problem that the Most Unlikeable Manbabies On Earth have imposed on us after NFTs fizzled out.

what i do have is a very large repository of nice anime and game screenshots i've taken, knowledge of many archives of nice public domain images, a computer that can run nightshade overnight or while i'm off doing other things, and, most importantly, near-infinite capacity for pettiness. i do kinda feel like the jury is still out on how well nightshade/glaze will work in the long run, but in the meantime, i suppose it wouldn't cost me a lot to... perhaps... every time i get Mad About AI™, channel that anger into dumping some thoroughly-but-not-spammily-tagged, high-quality, inconspicuous poison onto this godforsaken hellsite via a secret side blog. i could make a batch of poison ahead of time, keep it on my phone, use my Toilet Scrolling Time or my Public Transit Time to post and tag up an image here and there. it could be a fun challenge to try to make some pretty robot poison that some humans will still enjoy.

the other thing we need to poison at this point, IMO, is the word "AI" itself, by being loudly and mercilessly critical of any company that dabbles in it, the same way we all clowned on any company that pushed their luck with NFT/crypto shit a couple of years ago. we need to have every corporation terrified that association with AI will tank their sales and hurt their brand. AI must = number go down and lots of people screaming at you. companies will fuck around. we must provide the finding-out. we shouldn't have to. but we can!

so make sure to let tumblr know you hate this. maybe you could include this interesting link (tw child abuse) about how Stable Diffusion was trained on some extremely serious crime. or these screenshots of Midjourney devs just sort of admitting what their whole thing is, which i got here but which have kinda been spread all over since January.

spite and anger can be forms of hope. that's all i have to say, or at least all i'm willing to type with my left hand tonight.
