As a leftist it is often frustrating how many leftists are just straight up bad at politics. Like yeah fuck the system the system sucks, but it is the system we have right now and until your revolution materialises, we have to operate within that system to achieve things but so many leftists just insist on really dumb political moves.

#like the people I've seen criticising the democrats for rallying behind Kamala Harris and not calling for a contested convention/primary #like yes ok it sucks that Kamala Harris was not chosen in a primary to be the nominee #no it's not the most democratic way of doing things #but POLITICALLY #dividing the party with a contentious primary would be an enormously bad move #Democrats fighting with each other over candidates while Trump continues campaigning and highlighting the lack of unity?#all for what?#so whatever left-wing candidate could fail to win enough delegates anyway?#it would be a completely futile exercise that would achieve nothing other than weakening the Democrat's position #even if you hate the democrats you have to acknowledge that #from a politics standpoint #it would be a dumb move

Going to be so incredibly real with everyone and say that To Hate And To Hold was absolutely always going to be a one shot. It's meant to be a one shot. It IS a one shot. I'm not going to think about continuing it, because I don't want to. I have a variety of reasons for this that I think (frankly) a lot of you actually agree with considering things you've said about Nights (and that i'm happy to elaborate on, actually!). This is not directed at anyone I have on here because I know all of your AO3 users and you were all lovely, but some other people asked for "more" in a way I really did not appreciate, and in a way that actively deterred me from writing more! I love this fic how it is, and also...it's 21k. Do you know how insane it is to share something with people that's twenty one thousand words long, and immediately be asked for more? I'm extremely proud of this fic the way it is, and I'm very happy that the people who read it loved it, but it's staying the size it is.
