I have a lot of pictures in my 'random stage plays' folder. So here's some stuff from Moriarty the Patriot. Cause I can. And yes. I am avoiding my colouring responsibilities, but lineart is so much quicker~

James Bonde is a role, not a character
I need to analyze stuff right now, buckle up.
James Bonde was a role created the actress formerly known as Irene Adler before Adler's "death". Bonde is Agent 007 of MI6, a slightly eccentric, flirty man with innovative, unconventional ideas.
Three years after William and Sherlock jumped off a bridge together (whoa whoa, yeah~ shinjuu wa, hitori de wa, dekinai~ futuri nara, dekiru~), MI6 is investigating a series of murders committed by a sniper, who turned out to be Moran. At that point, Sherlock comes back to help MI6 stop Moran. Moniepeny temporarily takes the role of James Bonde so that Irene Adler can be Irene. As far as I can tell, Irene doesn't go back to being Bonde after that mission, meaning Bonde is a role that can be played by whoever is convenient.

We are lucky to be alive in the age of Andrew Scott, an actor of extraordinary breadth, skill and sensitivity, who can terrify as Jim Moriarty in Sherlock, make us fall in love (inappropriately) as the hot priest in Fleabag and cry in All of Us Strangers. He can also astonish, last year playing eight parts in a stage adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya. He recently became the first actor to win the UK Critics’ Circle awards for best actor on stage and screen in the same year. And his latest project, Ripley, is a beautiful and chilling adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel The Talented Mr Ripley, with Scott playing the lead, dominating all eight one-hour episodes. It’s been a wild, crowning year for the 47-year-old Irish actor. But in March his mother, Nora, died of a sudden illness; she is who Scott has credited as being his foremost creative inspiration. His grief is fresh and intense and for the first half of the interview it seems to swim just beneath the surface of our conversation.
“We go through so many different types of emotional weather all the time,” he says. “And even on the saddest day of your life you might be hungry or have a laugh. Life just continues.” We are in a meeting room in his management company’s offices, talking about his ability, in his work, to modulate between emotions, to go from happy to sad, confused to scared, all within a matter of seconds. How does he do it? Scott laughs. “I would say that I have quite a scrutable face — is scrutable a word? — which is good or bad depending on what you are trying to achieve. But my job is to be as truthful as possible in the way that we are, and I don’t think that human beings are just one thing at any particular time. It is rare that we have one pure emotion.”
It’s an approach that is particularly appropriate for the playing of Tom Ripley, an acquisitive chameleon who inveigles his way into the lives of others (in this case Johnny Flynn, as the careless and wealthy Dickie Greenleaf, and his on-off girlfriend Marge, played by Dakota Fanning). “Ripley is witty, he is very talented. That’s gripping, to watch talent. I can’t call him evil — it is very easy to call people who do terrible things evil monsters, but they are not monsters, they are humans who do terrible things. Part of what she [Highsmith] is talking about is that if you dismiss a certain faction of society it has repercussions, and Ripley is someone who is completely unseen, he lives literally among the rats, and then there are these people who are gorgeous and not particularly talented and have the world at their feet but are not able to see the beauty that he can see.”
The show was written and directed by Steven Zaillian, the screenwriter of Schindler’s List. It’s set in Sixties New York and Italy, and filmed entirely in black-and-white, its chiaroscuro aesthetic evoking films of the Sixties — particularly those of Federico Fellini — while also offering an alternative to Anthony Minghella’s saturated late-Nineties iteration that starred Matt Damon and Jude Law. This has a darker flavour. “I found it challenging,” Scott says, “in the sense that he’s a solitary figure and ideologically we are very different. So you have to remove your judgment and try to find something that is vulnerable.”
It was a tough shoot, taking a year and filmed during lockdown. Scott was exhausted at the end of it and had intended to take a three-month break, but delays meant that he went straight from Ripley into All of Us Strangers. “Even though I was genuinely exhausted, it was energising because I was back in London, I was getting the Tube to work, there was sunshine,” he says. “I found it incredibly heartful, that film, there were so many different versions of love … I feel that all stories are love stories.”
All of Us Strangers, directed by Andrew Haigh, is about a screenwriter examining memories of his parents who died when he was 12. In it Scott’s character, Adam, returns to his family home, where his parents are still alive and as they were back in the Eighties. Adam is able to walk into the memory and to come out to his parents, finding the words that were unavailable to him as a boy. Some of it was filmed in Haigh’s childhood home, and there was a strong biographical element for him and his lead. Homosexuality was illegal in the Republic of Ireland until 1993, when Scott was 16. He did not come out to his parents until he was in his early twenties. I ask if he was working with his own childhood experiences in the film. “Of course, so in a sense it was painful, to a degree, but it was cathartic because you are doing it with people that you absolutely love and trust. I felt that it was going to be of use to people and I was right, it has been. The reaction to the movie has been genuinely extraordinary — it makes people feel and see things, and that isn’t an easy thing to achieve.”
The film is also a tender and erotic love story between Scott’s character and Harry, played by the Irish actor Paul Mescal. The two found a real-life kinship that made them a delight to watch on screen and off it, as a double act on the awards circuit. “I adore Paul, he’s so, so … continues to be …” Scott pauses. “Obviously it’s been a tough time recently and he just continues to be a wonderful friend. It’s everything. The more I work in the industry, I realise, you make some stuff that people love and you make some stuff that people don’t like, and all really that you are left with is the relationships that you make. I love him dearly.”
Scott and Mescal were also both notable on the red carpet for being extraordinarily well dressed. Scott loves fashion and has a big, well-organised wardrobe that he admits is in need of a cull. “I don’t like having too much stuff. I really believe that everything we have is borrowed — our stuff, our houses, we are borrowing it for a time. So I am trying to think of people who are the same size as me so I can give some of it away, and that’s a great thing to be able to do.” One of his favourite labels is Simone Rocha. “I love a bit of Simone Rocha. What a kind, glorious person she is. I just went to her show.” Fashion, he says, is in his DNA. “My mother was an art teacher, she was obsessed with all sorts of design. She loved jewellery and jewellery design. Anything that is visual, tactile, painting, drawing, is a big passion of mine, so I have tremendous respect for the creativity of designers.”
Today Scott is wearing Louis Vuitton trousers and a cropped Prada jacket, dressed up because he is collecting his Critics’ Circle award for best stage actor for Vanya. I ask how it feels to have won the double, a historic achievement. “Ah …” he says, looking at the table, going silent, having just been so voluble. “I’m sorry …” His voice cracks a little. “It’s bittersweet.”
At the ceremony Scott dedicated the award to his mother, saying of her “she was the source of practically every joyful thing in my life”. Is it difficult for him to carry on working in the circumstances, I wonder. “Well, you know, you have to — life goes on, you manage it day by day. It’s very recent, but I certainly can say that so much of it is surprising and unique, and there is so much that I will be able to speak about at some point.”
He is looking forward, he says, once promotion for Ripley is over, to taking some time off, going on holiday, going back to Ireland for a bit. He has homes in London and Dublin. To relax he walks his dog, a Boston terrier, dressed down in jeans and a hoodie “like a 12-year-old, skulking around the city” or goes to art galleries on the South Bank — he was considering a career as an artist until he was 17 and got a part in the Irish film Korea. He goes to the gym every day, “not, you know, to get …” he says, flexing his biceps. “More that it’s good for the head.” He is social, likes friends, likes a party. When I ask if he gave up drinking while doing Vanya, which required him to be on stage, alone, every night for almost two hours, he looks horrified. “Oh God, no! Easy tiger! Jesus … Although I didn’t drink much, I did have to look after myself. But we had a room downstairs in the theatre, a little buzzy bar, because otherwise I wouldn’t see anybody, so I was delighted to have people come down.”
Scott was formerly in a relationship with the screenwriter and playwright Stephen Beresford and is currently single, although this is not the sort of thing he likes to talk about. He is protective of his privacy, not wanting to reveal where he lives in London, or indeed the name of his dog — but he swerves such questions with a gentle good humour.
He is famous on set for being friendly and welcoming, for looking after other people. “The product is very important, but most of my time is spent in the process, so I want that to be as pleasant and kind as possible. I feel like it is possible to do that, that it is an honourable goal.” He is comfortable around people, with an easy charm — no one I have interviewed before has said my name so many times. And although when we talk he sometimes seems reflective or so very sad, there are also moments when he is exuberant, silly, putting on accents. “I feel like, as a person, I am quite near my emotions. I cry easily and I laugh easily, and there is nothing more pleasurable to me than laughing.”
Scott was raised a Catholic and is no longer practising, but says his view about religion is “ever changing — I definitely have a faith in things that cannot be proved”. When he was younger and felt overwhelmed, just before or after an audition, he would go to the Quaker Meeting House in central London and sit in silence, something that made its way into the second series of Fleabag, in which Scott’s priest takes Waller-Bridge’s character to that same meeting house. “It’s just around here,” he says, standing up, looking out of the window at Charing Cross Road. “When Phoebe and I first talked, we met at the Soho Theatre. We talked about love and religion, we walked all around here. And I said, ‘This is a place I go,’ so we called in and there was no one there, so we sat in there and we talked. It was a really magical day.”
Scott says he sees all the different characters that he has played as versions of himself. “It’s like, ‘What would this version of me look like?’ rather than, ‘Oh, I’m going to be somebody else.’ You filter it through you, and you discover more about yourself. I think that is a very lucky thing to be able to do, to find out more about yourself in the short time that we are here.”

Honestly, the RKDD stage musical actors look so good.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is also nice to know that Ron is wearing boots onstage instead of sandals like in the manga and anime. I’d love to squish RonToto’s faces! Yuta Kishimoto will play Ron. Yutaka Nozaki is going to be Toto.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wonder how Amamiya would treat Toto onstage. Dr. Mofu is so small.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spitz’s quirky grin here just made me laugh out loud.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kawasemi-san, he looks so real now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the Moriarty siblings. I am envious of Winter’s hair. I’d love to have it, though not sure if it fits my face shape.
They also released their comments. ( x )

I can't stop thinking about this moment in "The Secret of Sherlock Holmes" ...
[Sorry for the bad audio quality, as far as I know there's no better recording. The script is under the cut below so you can read along, although it's not verbatim. Also be aware, there's shouting at approx. 0:42 in case you get startled by sudden loud noises (like me).]
Holmes is scared and lives under a feeling of impending doom, beginning to lose his grasp on reality, imagining not only Moriarty's presence but also having conversations with Watson in his thoughts ... And when Watson finally arrives, Holmes of course "can‘t say “Thank you”; he cant say “Good night,” can’t say “Help.”" ...
So he asks Watson for a match to have him close for a moment (they are in Baker Street, Holmes must have his own matches lying around) - I think this is the most logical explanation. He craves Watson's assistance, but he does not know how to ask for it. So he asks for a match instead.
Tumblr media
Ahhh, I would sell my soul to travel back in time and see this on stage! (Yes, this is a photo from the play - but I have no idea from which scene.)
Here is the link to the full audio recording of the play on YouTube: Act I - Act II You can find the script via this post by @muchtohope ! I also used it for the text under the cut, thank you OP! :)
The mood changes again: darker, menacing, intensified by sound.
HOLMES becomes aware of another presence: the terrifying image of MORIARTY. His shadow stretches across the stage, street lit, in a London mist. HOLMES is alert, afraid.
HOLMES Professor Moriarty, I presume…? (The shadow remains. Silence) When the time is right, my friend, when the time is right…
The shadow moves away. WATSON's voice is heard.
WATSON Holmes? (HOLMES stays perfectly still) Can I be of assistance?
HOLMES Your presence might be invaluable.
WATSON You speak of danger. You are afraid of something?
HOLMES Well, I am.
WATSON Of what?
HOLMES Of air-guns.
This comes as a terrifying shriek from HOLMES. WATSON's voice has been in HOLMES' mind. Now his voice can be heard off-stage.
WATSON Holmes?
HOLMES (with quiet relief) My friend…
HOLMES rises from chair, as WATSON in outdoor clothes enters in natural light.
WATSON How are you, my dear fellow? I've brought you a cake. Mary baked it especially for you.
WATSON presents a cake tin. HOLMES peers inside, the briefest of glances. He puts in on the desk.
HOLMES How kind. And how is Mrs Watson?
WATSON She is extremely well, and sends you her compliments.
A pause.
HOLMES Watson… I think you know me well enough to understand that I am by no means a nervous man. At the same time it is stupidity, rather than courage, to refuse to recognise danger when it is close upon you. Might I trouble you for a match? (WATSON lights HOLMES' cigarette and sees him staring ahead in a momentary trance before he becomes aware of WATSON's presence again) You have probably never heard of Professor Moriarty?

THE JACK THE RIPPER CASE IN YUUMORI AND IN REALITY
One of my favourite arcs is the Phantom of Whitechapel because it adapted the real Jack the Ripper case quite well and the story was full of elements what actually happened. I wanted to write a little about the similarities as recently was the anniversary of the first murder.
Tumblr media
The Jack the Ripper murders or Whitechapel murders took place in 1888 in the East End of London, the infamously poor Whitechapel district where the underclass people lived. Lot of women here earned their money for the living from selling their bodies and a serial killer, Jack the Ripper started to target them. The number of the victims is unsure, the police accepted five murders to be surely connected to Jack the Ripper, they are often referred to as the canonical five. The women got murdered by their throats being cut away and some of their inestines were also removed from their bodies.
The first victim was called Mary Ann Nichols whose body was discovered at 3:40 a.m. on 31th August. She was last seen alive by a woman she lived with in a lodging house. These all are very similar to how Moriarty the Patriot described the murder details, except that there, the victim's name was Melanie Nichols and she was seen with a blond man.
The second victim was Annie Chapman, her body was found at 6 a.m on 8th September and she was last seen half an hour ago in a company of a dark-haired man. The details shown in Yuumori are again similar, just the victim was called Adeline Bergman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Interesting addition to here - just like you see, the fan translation uses the victims' real names while the official gave them fake ones. In the original Japanese, also the fake ones are what are used.)
When it comes to the later murders, Yuumori's story deviates from the historical events, since here, the last three victims of the canonical five was just a stage-play by William who tried to catch the killer(s) with setting up a fake Jack the Ripper. In reality, two of the victims, Elizabeth Stride and Catherine Eddowes were found on the same morning of 30th September - the Morigang placing two of the dead bodies at the same place so they get discovered at the same time must be a reference to that. The last victim, Mary Jane Kelly was discovered in the room where she lived on 9th November - her murder was the most gruesome out of the five, what I think Yuumori also referenced with Jack's show who pretended to kill a woman brutally on the roof.
Several letters signed by Jack the Ripper were sent to the newspapers. The media, especially the Central News Agency where some of the letters arrived, also overexaggerated about the details when they wrote about the murders, spreading a lot of misinformation just to sell more papers. In Yuumori, the group of people responsible for the murders who committed them to cause fear in the public and make a revolution by the Whitechapel Vigilance Committee and the police forces collide, hired Milverton to create the Jack the Ripper agenda with the help of his media power and he also manipulated the public opinion. The quotes shown from the letter sent to the Central News in the Moriarty the Patriot manga are from the first letter (called as Dear Boss letter) signed as Jack the Ripper what was also sent to Central News in reality. The real letter was longer and Jack the Ripper threatened to send the lady's ears to the police instead of her organs (however, with one of his later letters, Jack truly sent one of his victims kidney to the police), otherwise they are the same.
Tumblr media
The Scotland Yard, just like in Yuumori wasn't really on the top when it came to solve the murders what resulted in riots and conflicts with the Whitechapel Vigilance Committee in reality too. And just like Chief Inspector Arterton was removed from his position in Scotland Yard - tho, for a slightly different reason - for not solving the Jack the Ripper case one of the police chiefs of London back then was also fired. In Moriarty the Patriot, a doctor was wrongly arrested and sent to prison in order to silence the raging public and in real life, lot of doctors were suspected to commit the murders.
In Yuumori, the identity of Jack the Ripper was solved by both Sherlock Holmes and the Morigang - who killed them - but it stayed unsolved for the public. In reality, the identity of Jack the Ripper either remained unsolved or not - few years ago, there was a DNA test what was said to determine the killer's identity, but lot of researchers believe that the test was incorrect and don't accept the answer.
I adore this arc for how well the series merged reality with fiction and it was especially exciting to read knowing the details of the real Jack the Ripper case.

The Games We Play of Dust and Ash (Yandere Moriarty the Patriot Masterlist)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sebastian Moran’s meets his darling at an underground nightclub, a place where more illegal and unsavory things happen, a place far different from where one would want to be found out of fear of their reputation. He is on a mission, staking put a noble who has dealing with the owner of the club, some mob connections or something along those lines.
He goes to the club and sits at a table near the stage and by the duo he is watching on behalf of the Lord of Crime, and since it’s a nightclub it would be a shame no to enjoy himself while working so he orders a drink and keeps an eyes on the stage while no conversations are being held.
Then he sees her…
One of the singers for the evening…
The dress she was wearing would have beeen considered scandalous on the streets but she was absolutely beautiful…
And her voice was even better…
“If you had a secret,
You bet I would keep it.
I would never tell on you.”
He has a hard time paying attention to his mission with her singing on stage…
“So won't you kindly do a girl
A great big favor?”
Well they do say the help hears everything…
After the show and the club begins to clear out, she is sitting at her vanity backstage, smoking a cigarette while counting her pay for the evening when someone tosses a flower onto her vanity and she looks up to see the rather attractive black haired man. Normally she wouldn’t entertain such advances but he looks like he is worth her time…
Almost every night she is seen leaving on his arm after a show and he gets the whispers of gossip and dirt she hears on the owner and the aristocracy who attend and all of this gets told back to William.
She is now basically an asset to their operations with the information she gives Sebastian when she is in his arms at night.
Then one night after a show and he goes to see her, a stage hand tells him she has already left with another woman. Upon questioning further, apparently his darling met with this woman every so often, a reporter type, apparently the lady she left with was a crime reporter who was growing in popularity after reporting on the cases covered by the best detective in London before anyone else…
Then it hits him…
She was an information broker…
She has been using him the same way he had been using her this entire time.
He should be ready to cut her off because she could be giving away what she has learned from him, but he can’t…
He meant every kiss he gave her…
Every flower he gave her after a show…
Every time he held her in his arms as they fell asleep…
He had accidentally fallen in love with her.
The next morning she hears knocking at her apartment door, and without really thinking about she opens it to see him in the doorway, but unlike the other times they met at her home, he was not wearing his charming smile but instead a rather serious expression…
“We need to talk.”
She invites him inside and he sits her down and cuts it plain and dry…
“I want to be with you, not what we have now but actually be with you, I am… god, I am in love with you.”
Part of him hopes she will accepts his advances, he doesn’t want to loose another person after everything-
“No, besides it would never work.”
There is a pang of pain in his chest at hearing her words. She tells him how she has her job and he does whatever he does and their relationship was purely transactional for her, she has no time for romance, she has her job and he has his, they were assets for each other and now that is over.
He goes to go see her one last time that night and just seeing her on stage now destroys him…
“You should have known by now
You'd every cause to doubt me,”
She sees her look at others in the crowd, anyone but him.
“It was a fine affair,
But now it's over.”
Then when he leaves the club that night, he sees her leaving on the arm of another man.
Soon enough William gives him a mission that he thinks Sebastian will rather enjoy…
The club owner was using the club as a way to funnel drugs and illegal surfaces to that of the nobility…
When Sebastian’s darling comes into work that night, the owner is found dead with a bullet through the head.
As she stumbles out of the club in shock, waking off to the backstreets to catch her breath from the shock…
“Let me guess you are going to go tell your reporter friend about what you saw?”
“Sebastian… you know better than anyone that we all do what we have to in order to survive.”
A few days later, the headline in the paper is…
“Missing Nightclub Singer; club closes as owner is found dead and leading lady is reported missing.”
(A/N- her story is similar to that of William and his darling, but unlike William’s darling, she has a voice and isn’t one to just lay down and die)

it seems like some people actually liked my last fic rec, so here's another one, guys! this time i tried finding some fics that were a little different, like AUs, different POVs, rarepairs, WIPs, etc. again, these are pretty all set in canonverse (ACD or Granada) or victorian era unless specified otherwise. so without further ado, here is:
Eden’s ACD/Granada Unique Fic Recommendations
And With Him Disaster by eggshellseas (@/maxwelljacobfriedman on tumblr) 14k | Rated E Summary: John Watson is being stalked by a vampire. Notes: not-your-mother's vampire au, that's for sure. definitely read the tags before getting into this but man, this fic is so, so good. features not only vampire!holmes but also dark!holmes and it's a ride from beginning to end. ugh i want to talk more about this fic but i can't spoil anything!!
Into darkness then without a candle by Solshine (@/thehumantrampoline on tumblr) 10k | Rated T Summary: At first, Moriarty is just a disguise, like all the rest in his wardrobe; a helpful alias to bring Holmes closer to the evils he duels. And then the disguise wins at the Reichenbach Falls. AU inspired by the stage play, “The Secret of Sherlock Holmes." Notes: i can't even get into this. I CAN'T EVEN GET INTO THISSSS. there are no words. if there were, the word would be: UGH. this is such a unique fic and watson really pulls through in this. I CAN'T EVEN GET INTO THIS RIGHT NOW.
Back to Edinburgh by mightymads 4k | Rated T Summary: The Jezail bullet in Watson’s leg causes him so much pain that he is on the verge of despair. London doctors deem it impossible to extract the bullet without inevitable nerve damage. Holmes finds a surgeon in Edinburgh, who agrees to help. It is none other than Professor Joseph Bell. Notes: Dr. Bell says 'gay rights'! also Scottish Watson for the win! this is such a beautiful story, Watson really gets to take the center stage while Holmes gets to worry for his well-being. oh how the tables have turned. plus lots of ACD's personal life mixed with Watson's own, which I think makes this such a unique fic. it's just really nice to read. *chef's kiss*
The Red Notebook by Garonne 10k | Rated T Summary: Holmes is dead, or seems to be. Watson starts to write, and Mycroft starts to read. Holmes/Watson slash set during the Hiatus. Mycroft's POV. Notes: i LOVE Mycroft POVs, and this is one of my favorites. also i love fics that depict watson's stories as completely false, like Moriarty is not real and 'The Final Problem' was just john's way of coping. STELLAR FIC.
Some Power of Selection by wordybirdy 12k | Rated E Summary: John Watson is a struggling doctor in recent practice on London's Upper Wimpole Street. One dreary Wednesday, an urgent telegram summons him to 221B Baker Street, where he meets a sombre and initially taciturn gentleman by the name of Sherlock Holmes. Sparks immediately fly – but not of the positive, life-affirming variety... Notes: enemies to lovers AU for the win! Stamford is such a knob in this one, truly. but that's okay, our heroes figure themselves out anyways. great banter in this one, if you like rom-coms then this is the fic for you!
One Page Is Missing by PlaidAdder 2k | Rated T Summary: "From this point onward I will follow the course of events by transcribing my own letters to Mr. Sherlock Holmes which lie before me on the table. One page is missing, but otherwise they are exactly as written and show my feelings and suspicions of the moment more accurately than my memory, clear as it is upon these tragic events, can possibly do." --The Hound of the Baskervilles, Chapter 8 **** This is the missing page. Notes: ok first of all you should read all of PlaidAdder’s Missing Pages series, it’s so beautifully written. this is the first of the series and the premise is so interesting and mysterious! this fic is for any fans of HOUN (me) or enjoyers of jealous Holmes (also me)
On the Orbits of Asteroids by Sheila_Snow 22k | Rated E Summary: Watson has a secret from his past that he's kept from Holmes, but the past has a tendency to come back and haunt you. Notes: Watson/Moriarty fic. yes you read that correctly and YES it's crazy good. there's still holmes/watson but it's angsty and– i can't even get into it, you just gotta read for yourself. also feat. Moran who is currently questioning his sexuality (yeah watson will do that to you mate)
The Better Part of Valour by rachelindeed 7k | Rated T Summary: Mr Melas considers himself a coward, but more than one man's courage comes with complicated cracks. Notes: for any fans of 'The Greek Interpreter' (aka ME) this fic is the coolest ever. POV from Melas, who is smart, witty, and very observant. you get to meet Paul Kratides when he's not in the middle of being tortured, plus the ANGSTIEST background story about Watson's war injury. Oof. But I literally love this fic guys pwease read it
☆The Adventure of the Purloined Heart by ladyblahblah (@/hungrylikethewolfie on tumblr) 15k | Rated M Summary: A gruesome murder unveils secrets kept buried for years. Some feelings can only be hidden for so long. Notes: This fic checks every single box for me. HOLY SHIT. It's got murder, mystery, intrigue; it's got pining, secrets, and unrequited (?) love. I think the reason I'm so unwell about this fic is because it's a WIP that ends on a doozy of a cliffhanger. if god loves me he will let this fic be finished one day. IT'S SO GOOD GUYS PLEASE READ THIS FIC. in my ao3 history is says 'visited 12 times in the past month.' what is wrong with me
i hope someone out there enjoys these! also i was going to tag the authors whose tumblrs i knew, but then i chickened out, so... sue me i guess?
also if there’s any AUs, tropes, or somesuch fics you wish existed but can’t find, feel free to ask me!! maybe i’ve read something you’re looking for :)

Very jealous of your london trip! If you've had time to digest it, what are thoughts on the escape room? Highlights? Lowlights? ☺️
truly madly deeply absolutely worth doing a london weekend for (nearly) the sole purpose of doing both escape rooms back to back!!! i will have to do a more detailed write-up on the mind of moriarty room at some point, but a few very brief preliminary thoughts will go under the cut for the sake of spoilers for both rooms...
i personally fully avoided spoilers going into this experience so having 'walk directly into 221b' as one of the first things to happen was a very strong start. (i knew photos were done there, i just assumed they were done after the fact!!) AND it was with my beloved s4 skull print :) AND the mirror above the mantle was a screen that moriarty would hack???
highlight of the original escape room was sitting in mycroft's office messing around with a very satisfying control panel to move blinking lights around. we've all seen my blog icon. obviously i needed to take a moment to collect myself after seeing that that was the second stage of that escape room. and there were mirrors! and you had to look through the mirrors to see the clues on the other side!
highlight of the mind of mind of moriarty room was possibly the miniature version of jim's prison cell as seen at the end of thob with assorted phrases scratched into the wall such as 'too many thatchers' and 'three signs aren't enough', and an entirely redacted document from mycroft on the chair. i really do need to write out more details on that entire room though because OUGH!
lowlights do not exist. truly could not have been more pleased with the experience. they played december 1963 at the bar. if i have any complaint it's that you should be allowed to walk back through the rooms again after solving them to fully appreciate all the fun details without the pressure of needing to solve puzzles against the clock.
btw moriarty is dead! he is definitely absolutely dead! we know this because everyone won't stop saying it! it's repeated multiple times in both escape rooms! he's dead on the rooftop and the gun is still in his pocket but he's dead and he's absolutely loving being dead and messing with the holmes boys from beyond the grave! he's the most dead anyone has ever been! why does the official escape room website say the show ran from 2010-2014.

May 12th-Family
Sometimes it was hard for Sherlock.
To sit at the dinner table and look at John and Rosie. His Family. His entire world.
And remember how he almost lost it all.
Tonight it seemed to wash over him like frigid water. Chilling him down to his bones and rendering his body still. His stomach dropped, like it remembered the feeling of falling.
It was only 9 o’clock. Rosie had gone to bed and usually Sherlock and John would take advantage of that time to spend time together. But tonight Sherlock wandered wordlessly into their room, while John typed away in his laptop.
Curse having a teenager daughter. He thought as he put a headphone in his ear. Rosie insisted on playing Taylor Swift on the morning commute to school so of course now he had one of her songs stuck in his head.
And not even a fun pop song.
He laid down in the bed and curled into himself as each line twisted the knife in his chest.
‘Were you sent by someone, who wanted me dead.’
He had wanted him dead. Moriarty was going to make sure he was dead.
‘Were you writing a book? Were you a sleeper cell spy? In fifty years will all this be declassified and you’ll confess why you did it.’
Why did he do it? Why did he rip Sherlock’s entire life apart?
‘And you deserve prison but you won’t get time, you’ll slide into inboxes and slip through the bars.’
Another knife. He managed to escape. They could’ve stopped it before it went any further and he escaped.
‘You kicked out the stage lights but you’re still performing.’
Even with a bullet in his head, Moriarty’s show continued. Even in death, he continued to pull strings on his little puppets.
‘And in plain site you hid, but you are what you did. And I’ll forget you but I’ll never forgive The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.’
Light tears rolled slowly down his cheeks now. He saw flashes of John and Rosie, his parents, even Mycroft. He would never forgive that Moriarty tried to take him from them. Moriarty was a coward, a loser, someone who got off on other people’s suffering. The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.
He pulled his headphones out and tossed them on the nightstand. He continued to lay in bed, letting grief make its way through him.
John snuck in at some point and just curled up next to him, wrapping comforting arms around him.
No one would ever come between him and his family again.

It’s 5am and I can’t sleep, have TS songs stuck in my head of course, so here we are. I just make @calaisreno prompts fit whatever I have in my head at the moment lol
