I had a dream last night where Hiccup, for whatever reason, bleached his hair but he didn’t do it very evenly and so he got a cloak with a hood and rushed to Astrid’s house just as the sun was rising. He snuck in and woke her up and it was like
‘Hiccup what are you doing?’
‘I need your help.’
‘What do you mean? You okay?’
‘You can’t tell anyone.’
‘Okay.’
And then he pulls back the hood and shows off his now bleached blond but patchy hair. Bits of his normal hair are just littered throughout it and he didn’t take the little braids out so they are patchy too.
And the solution that Astrid came up with was cutting off her hair and they made Hiccup a wig (because time doesn’t matter in dreams) and then later the gang was flying back to the edge and everyone just kept glancing at blond wig Hiccup and short hair Astrid but she would glare at anyone who started to say anything.

Sparkstember Day 20: Hello Young Lovers
Tumblr media
As much as I love Hello Young Lovers and it's everything to me, one essay about it is probably enough anyway. So enjoy some bunnies today and look out for more of the usual stuff tomorrow because I have very many feelings about Exotic Creatures.

Okay, here’s a question for you that my brain has randomly summoned: If Dream and Punz were experimenting with their own lives before the prison, why would it not show it in the video we get all about the Revival Book?
Because we didn't really need to know, tbh? Like, we really didn't. Most of what we know about c!Dream is always revealed at the latest possible moment: think the revive book, the staged finale, the vikk and lazar experiments, yes, and the Plan in entirety. There was reason to tell us that c!Dream and c!Punz had already tested the book after the prison break, because part of the question pre-staged finale reveal and pre-prison break was how much of c!Dream's ramblings about revival to c!Tommy were genuine, and the fact that he had tested the book before to some degree quite solidly confirms that all his whole "ooh now we know it works! now i can use you as a guinea pig to test revival mwahahaha" moment after reviving c!Tommy was for show and not genuine. On the other hand, we were still entirely in the dark on what c!Dream and c!Punz's goals were at the point of prison break, which iirc was around when that lore video came out. We really didn't need to know that they were testing the book on each other yet, especially because that reveal would only really hit the hardest in the finale where it was looped into the themes of self-destruction and self-sacrifice that followed c!clingy. Keeping that reveal until it'd actually mean something rather than just making it an earlier lore drop kept us guessing for longer and worked better for the story that was being told in those final four streams

midnight emotions (two little lines pt. 2)
in which your stepson has a bad dream and you feel guilty.
this one has less to do with your pregnancy but it is still relevant!
toji x reader (same stuff from last time applies, technically AFAB because of pregnancy but it's also a world with sorcery so I am not here to stop AMAB people. kept it pretty gender neutral, but let me know if it doesn't seem like it.)
wc: 850
parts: 1 3 4 5
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the darkness floods your eyes as you blink awake for the second time that night. body aching, you roll over, feet fluffing the carpet of you and toji’s bedroom. your arms reach up, exposing your growing stomach to the cold air.
as you stand, the bed creaks, and you hear your husband groan.
“doll?” his voice is low from sleep, and you place your hand on his arm.
“i’m good. i just have to pee.”
“again? you went two hours ago,” you’d never think that toji could be so whiny, but it sure was a very cute surprise.
“babe, a whole human is growing next to my bladder. i’m going to be peeing all the time for the next few months,” you chuckle, and you hear him roll over on the bed.
“fine. see you soon.”
with that, you begin your walk to the bathroom, able to navigate the dark hallways perfectly after following this routine for weeks. after doing your business, you walk back down the hall, but this time you find that it’s much easier.
in fact, there’s a light on in one of the bedrooms, which you quickly discern to be megumi’s. you knock, hearing a little “come in” on the other side.
“megumi? what are you doing up?” you whisper, seeing him sitting up in bed. he furiously rubs his hands with his face, and the sight brings tears to your eyes.
“i…had a bad dream.” he says, his little voice full of sadness. you move to kneel next to his bed, hoping to reassure him.
“what happened? you can talk to me about it, if you want. or i can get your dad if you’d prefer.” he shakes his head, but still seems to hesitate.
“dad’s not going to…leave us, will he?” worry strikes through you.
“never. what would make you think that?”
“i don’t know, i guess i just wish we could see him more. he’s always pretty busy and only comes home for dinner.” another tear falls down his little face, and you can feel one mirror on your own. curse your hormones.
“he’s busy, yes, but it’s because he’s trying to provide for you as best as he can. he just wants you to be happy,” megumi nods, but you can see that there’s still something on his mind.
“it’s just that…when the baby comes, will he still have time for us?” your heart brakes at his statement, guilt shattering you.
“of course he will. i promise you that he will always have time for you. he can be gruff, but he loves you.”
“pinky promise?” he holds his little pinky out, and you immediately hook your much larger one around it.
“pinky promise. now go back to bed. if you’re tired in the morning, let me know and i’ll call you out of school.” he nods, and you walk to the door, turning his light off.
“sleep tight kiddo.” the door closes with a soft click!, and you immediately head back to your shared bedroom. your face feels wet, and you realize belatedly that you’d been crying.
the bed is comforting, but you feel your breaths come out shakily.
“doll? what’s wrong?” you jump, not realizing your husband’s still awake, and scoot in closer.
“megumi’s worried that you won’t have time for him once the baby comes, and i feel so guilty. i didn’t even think about how this would affect them.” you’re hiccuping now, and his large hand comes to rest on your back.
“you didn’t do anything wrong, i should be here more for them.” he whispers, and you shake your head.
“no, you’re just doing what you can to help us.” he sighs, and you place your head on his chest.
“yeah, but maybe it’s not enough. i’ll try to cut back on how many jobs i take weekly so i can be here more. we make more than enough money between the two of us anyways.”
you hum, remembering exactly why you fell in love with him all those years ago. he isn’t exactly the most open person, but he does love his kids in his own way.
“you need to stop being so cute. this isn’t good for my blood pressure,” he snorts, squeezing you lightly.
“cute, huh? never thought someone would call me cute,” you laugh at him, wrapping your arms around his body.
“why wouldn’t they? you just ooze cuteness, from your thick biceps and rippling abs-”
“i’m starting to think you might be in love with me.” you can just hear the grin in his voice, and you move to roll away before one of his strong arms stops you.
“ah-ah,” he tuts, “need my doll next to me so i can protect her.”
“you sure you’re not the one in love with me?” his chest is firm as you run your fingers across it.
“you wish,” he presses a kiss against your temple, and your body heats up. you huff, feigning annoyance, and his hand comes to cup your face.
“fine. i might be in love with you. just a little bit."

THE BIANCA MASTERPOST
Why, hello! Are you interested in throwing yourself down the rabbit hole of lore for Dropout's "Very Important People"? Are you trying to drag a friend into the madness? Welcome! Hopefully this post can help. This all goes a lot deeper than you might expect after a casual viewing of the show, so let's get down to business.
In the past, the Host's stepdaughter, Bianca Jocasta, was something of a cryptid lurking at the edges of the show's lore. As of season 2, however, she has a face, speaking lines, and an implied crucial role in the meta plot. Us rabid Bianca fans -- and there are indeed a non-zero number of us -- simply never lose. Unless we get a week where Bianca doesn't show up. Which happens often.
PART 1: UNDERSTANDING the CANON.
Let's say you've watched the entirety of VIP. You have questions. Maybe you even have theories of your own. Welcome to the club, friend. Bianca generally pops up in only brief mentions -- amidst the chaos of the show it's sometimes hard to piece together exactly what's going on with her. Luckily, I've written it down for us!
Analyzing everything we know about Bianca (as of s2e3) for a review of the basics, plus some surface-level theorizing.
Analyzing the Host's relationship with Bianca (as of s2e3) for a more character-centered approach to figuring out what's going on here.
Revisiting the s2e4 loredrop.
Unpacking the s2e6 loredrop.
And of course, the sacred texts: this gifset by the talented @/avadaniels capturing their first on-screen interaction.
Dissecting the s2e11 loredrop.
PART 2: INTO the METAVERSE.
So there's something funky going on here. That's to be expected, because this show is an improvised fever dream and the Host is a certified freak. But is this actually leading up to something...? Signs point to yes.
Asked to describe the relationship between the Host and Bianca in one word, Vic chose "tethered". A normal word to describe coworkers who purportedly hate each other.
Asked for any further information about the two of them, Vic responded... like this.
Okay. Here's where we jump off the deep end. Hold my hand. Vic likes to reuse material, and the "stepdaughter the same age as her stepparent" is an idea that's been around in their work for a while now. Take a look here and here for more on that. Do you see the vision?
It seems like Vic and Talia are very down to go down interesting paths with their improv together, and they're certainly able to conjure up chemistry. Case in point.
PART 3: EXPLORATION via FANWORKS.
That's it. That's the canon, that's the relevant supplemental material from Vic. But this is tumblr, and we all know that's just the beginning of the fun.
The wonderful @/owleanders draws Bianca so beautifully and I think about his art of her non-stop. Go look at his stuff!
I would be remiss if I didn't at least mention Star Maker, my fic that attempts to blend our knowledge of the Host's lore with the "Bride Comforting Stepdaughter" sketch. It is my version of a long-form thesis for why this dynamic has the potential to be so compelling.
We use the tag #bianca vip for her here on tumblr. (edit: now that we have a last name for the character, #bianca jocasta is also in use! it's a mishmash but we'll muddle through somehow. i personally will prefer to use her full name now that we have it, but i'll be using both for a while as i adjust.)
The AO3 tag for our Bianca is wonderfully vibrant for a character with so minimal screen time, and well worth checking out if you want more!

Welcome to Anna writes another color meta because she's losing her mind.
I made half this point before, but season 7 has more evidence, so I'm gonna make it again, just stay with me. Buck wears a lot of red, right? Staple color for him.
Tumblr media
And, well, the coma dream has many elements that make it uncomfortable even if we don't fully realize it, one of them is the way that Buck is wearing green.
Tumblr media
(something else is the way he's wearing black vans when he usually wears white hightops, but that's not important right now, but 911 costume department, I worship you)
Tumblr media
Why is the green part relevant? Well, red and green are complementary colors, that means they are on opposite sides of the color wheel, and the whole thing with complementary colors is to create contrast. So, since he's usually on this part of the color wheel, the green stands out, even if we don't fully register why.
Tumblr media
But the thing is, they put Buck in green when something is wrong. The coma dream, yeah, but the talk with Ali that leads to the breakup, the whole thing with taking Red to see Cindy that completely backfires, and subsequently the conversation with Maddie about being the one who gets left behind, telling Taylor he cheated, talking to Eddie about how he's avoiding Taylor after the Jonah thing, breaking up with Taylor, the cemetery scene, the gym scene in 705.
Tumblr media
Those are all scenes where something is wrong, Ali doesn't understand who he is, the whole thing with Red is Buck deciding to do the wrong thing over his idea of what Red needs, the Taylor arc is very self-explanatory, the cemetery feels like he's trying to convince himself of what he's saying a lot more than it sounds like that's something he actually believes, the gym scene he's stressed because he lied to Eddie, it's all at least Buck doing misguided stuff. I feel like at this point, it is very clear that they put Buck in green for this purpose. If Buck is in green, something is most likely wrong.
So, Buck has a something is wrong color. During season 7, I offered the possibility of the show using maroon with Eddie for a similar purpose. But where Buck is about doing misguided stuff most of the time, Eddie is about lying. In a sense.
Eddie's color palette is very earthy. I don't wanna say green is as much of a staple color for him as red is for Buck, but he is usually in army colors, he does wear his fair share of green, greyish-green stuff, it's enough to make sense to some degree if they use maroon to say something is wrong in a direct parallel of what they do with Buck, just going the other way.
Tumblr media
But why the maroon during season 7? He's wearing maroon while daydreaming about an idealized Shannon and during the date with Kim. Both situations involve lying to himself, Buck, or whatever. There's also the maroon when Chris leaves. He's not lying, but to say he's pretending to be okay with the situation because it is what Chris wants is not that much of a stretch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, I just noticed this dude is wearing maroon when Lena takes him to the first fight, which triggers something dangerous for him. So now we're talking. We have bad shit happening to him and bad shit being triggered by him while he's in maroon.
Tumblr media
It opens up a lot in the possibility of them using red in this way for him in other scenes he's wearing reddish stuff. First date with Ana, the nondate with Vanessa, the 612 talk, and I'm gonna throw in the Carla thing too because I need another screenshot lol
Tumblr media
Granted, as long as the show doesn't come right out and say Eddie is gay or Eddie was lying about remembering the shooting, these are just speculation and wishful thinking for the most part, but Eddie is peer pressured into the relationship with Ana and ends up admitting he liked the idea of them more than he liked her, so lying to himself, and the Vanessa one, he just plain doesn't want to be there and is agreeing to lie to Pepa so, it's a stretch but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the Carla thing, Eddie is at least hiding the Shannon of it all and he was lied to to get there, and while Buck does offer him the answer to a problem that scene, it is a problem he was struggling a lot with and pretending he had it under control. And I will live in a land where Eddie has been aware of his feelings since the shooting and it is lying to Buck about not remembering until the show explicitly proves me wrong, so in my head he is lying to Buck in 612. I'm not nearly as confident on this one as I am with the green and Buck when it comes to the whole show, but at least during s7, they did use it like that, and considering the way he was mostly in black or white during s7, the maroon has to mean something.
Now that we got that out of the way. Why am I telling you all this? It is not just because I think this is yet another way the show makes Buck and Eddie exist as mirrors of each other. It is because of the bachelor party.
Tumblr media
Because Buck is in mint green and Eddie is in baby pink.
Buck is absolutely being misguided about what Chim actually wants during this, but I have no idea what Eddie would be lying about though. The interesting thing is that Buck loses the green and Eddie has the darker pink quite literally ripped out of him. Which is an interesting choice all things considered. And they get back to it once we find out Chim is missing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is pure speculation that even made me write a fic (self-promo if you feel like reading a confrontation about them almost kissing at the party), but the thing is, everyone involved in this damn show talked too much about this bachelor party for it to be a minute long montage with no lasting consequences and me to feel satisfied with it (rip karaoke scene you will always be wanted). Especially considering with the way we know the episode was actually 2 episodes long and they had to trim everything down (the fact that they tried to shove 18 episodes worth of plot into 10 is gonna make me mad forever, it was a reduced season, make a reduced season) and the ideal world madney's wedding would've been the 2 episode event it deserved to be and we would've gotten more. Do I think the show wanted something to actually happen between them, like a full-blown kiss? No. Do I think a "we are drunk and getting too close" situation was completely plausible? Yes. I mean, Buck was practically pulling Eddie to his lap. And it's not like this is something that can't come back to if they feel like it. Sudden triggers making them remember shit is a perfectly acceptable way to add some tension, push some realizations.
I don't know why, but Buck wearing green there will forever bother me. And with the added layer of Eddie and the maroon, I feel like there has to have a point for that particular costume besides making me want to make The Fairly OddParents jokes.
If we wanna go full conspiracy theory, considering the way the early renewal changed the way they dealt with 7b, I wouldn't be surprised if that party was going to trigger something and they decided against it. We'll never know unless they come back to it, but, nice to think about.
As always, if you read this, I love you.
Other color metas if you like my brand of crazy: blue and green masterpost, red and blue post, blue and yellow theory part one and part two.

When writing fanfiction, there are a lot of unknowns surrounding Mobei-Jun that I answer based on what I think is compelling, funny, and/or contrasts well against SQH | Airplane Bro. (Sometimes, based on what contrasts interestingly and/or hilariously against Luo Binghe or Shen Qingqiu.) The choices I make for MBJ also depend on what suits that particular story.
An interesting question: "What kind of literature does Mobei-Jun like?" He's Airplane Bro's Ideal Man / Dream Guy! It's fun to think about what Mobei-Jun's relationship might be to fiction.
One choice that I've pulled a few times now is having Mobei-Jun be functionally illiterate, mostly because I think that situation is an interesting / amusing contrast to the guy who technically wrote the world into existence. Airplane Bro was cranking out thousands of words per day to eat, selling out his honest passion for literature, and Mobei-Jun can't / doesn't read.
There are lots of different potential reasons for this! Maybe Mobei-Jun is dyslexic. Maybe he desperately needs reading glasses and doesn't realize it. (Yes, maybe half of his glaring is just squinting.) Maybe his education was really bad because his family tried to murder him too many times. Maybe he just doesn't have any interest in fiction or in reading as a hobby in general, because paper / writing is rare in the Demon Realm for a variety of reasons and he's been busy building more relevant skills.
(Airplane Bro is shocked and offended, yes, but mostly because Mobei-Jun somehow successfully hid being unable to read from him for two or more decades. All of those "you read it" and "you write it" orders suddenly make so much sense.)
Another direction for "Mobei-Jun's relationship to media" that I've been enjoying lately as a premise is that Mobei-Jun is the sort of person who would have genuinely enjoyed "Proud Immortal Demon Way". But, like, in a weird way. Like, maybe Mobei-Jun isn't there for the women or the power fantasy, but he's fascinated by the cage of dissatisfaction, misery, and cruelty that the protagonist is building around himself using empty pleasures and merciless vengeance. Mobei-Jun is there for the tragedy. Everyone else in the comments section would think that he's a weirdo for different reasons, including Airplane Bro, but Mobei-Jun is (by accident) operating on a level where he sees the vision.
Alternate direction on "Mobei-Jun would like PIDW, actually": maybe he would like it because he actually loves trashy drama and stupid catfights. He's there for the comedy. He grew up in an environment where his father stole his uncle's wife and his own uncle tried to kill him multiple times, after all. In PIDW itself, right-hand man Mobei-Jun somehow successfully suffered years upon years of Luo Binghe's harem nonsense, and maybe Mobei-Jun was having the time of his life watching Sha Hualing start shit in the harem, actually!
Maybe in a Modern AU, Airplane Bro would try to sound intelligent and cultured by talking to his rich boss / boyfriend about classy literature, only to find out that Mobei-Jun basically only watches reality television competitions where people are constantly trying to tear each other's hair out for money. If people aren't screaming in each other's faces over a spilled glass of wine, throwing plates at each other over a stolen boyfriend or a ruined wedding, or backstabbing each other via wardrobe sabotage to get ahead, then Mobei-Jun is bored. Fighting matches or extremely dangerous sports are also fine, though, sure. (Airplane Bro doesn't like any of this stuff. He's a fantasy novel guy. He has no idea how to react to this.)
Another funny direction for "Mobei-Jun's relationship to media" is that maybe "Proud Immortal Demon Way" wouldn't actually be weird ENOUGH for Mobei-Jun's tastes. Maybe Mobei-Jun would be like that guy who claims "if I can guess the twist, then it's not suspense - suspense is when I don't know what's going to happen next, period" and reads long-running, amateur, foreign, abstract web-novels that he has to put through an online translator himself. Maybe in a Modern AU with this opinion, Mobei-Jun loyally watches telenovelas and Bollywood soap operas. Airplane Bro comes into the room and says, "Wow, not even any subtitles? You can understand what they're saying?" and Mobei-Jun says sincerely, "No. You have to figure out what's happening without them. This is the intended viewing experience."

Dreams of Time 2
[Written with prompts from @ventisettestars and @bubblegumbeech!]
Danny might have been reckless, but he wasn’t actively suicidal.  Or passively suicidal.  Or suicidal at all, actually.  He liked being alive.  Just as a general thing.  Not that he hated being dead.  A ghost.  He meant he didn’t hate being a ghost.  Which… was a type of being dead.
Existing.  He didn’t hate existing.  He liked existing.
Yeah.
He might be dumb, too.
The point was, he knew Nocturn could overpower him.  Especially now that he’d overpowered him once, and stuck that thing in his throat.  Luckily, he was used to playing along when in a room with an enemy and someone clueless.  Vlad was good for that, at least.  He rubbed his neck and grimaced at the stickiness under his fingers.
“Are you feeling alright, Daniel?” asked Clockwork, turning from his work.  While he wasn’t looking, the spring in his tweezers turned into a miniature cherry branch with blooming flowers.  Danny’s attention was pulled away when Clockwork touched his forehead.  “Hmm.”
Danny would have liked to tell Clockwork exactly what was bothering him, but heavy midnight black ooze drooled from between his lips instead.  Clockwork didn’t seem to notice.
“Would you like to lie down?” asked Clockwork.  “If you are feeling unwell, you can always rest in your room.”
Danny shook his head and eyed Nocturn apprehensively.  “No, I’m fine.”
“Truly, there is no point in lying,” said Nocturn.
“Now, now,” said Clockwork, twisting to pat Nocturn on the arm.  “There is no need to make accusations.  You may always change your mind, Daniel.”
Clockwork picked the tweezers back up.  “Ah, this happens sometimes,” he said, indicating the cherry branch.  Then, he went back to describing the mechanisms of the clock he was assembling.  None of them made sense, but Danny wasn’t sure if that was because they were inherently nonsensical, due to being in a dream, or because Danny wasn’t paying close enough attention, due to Nocturn looming over them.
Okay.  So.  Shocking Clockwork.  With Nocturne there.  Okay.  Danny could do this.
What would be shocking?
For him, the first time he’d encountered Nocturn, it was Sam kissing him (which shouldn’t have been that shocking, they’d done a lot of fake-out make-outs), for Sam, it was ‘Dash Phantom,’ for Tucker, it was just…  Danny showing up… Which was kind of mean…  And, for Jazz, it was being married to Dash.
Lots of relationship drama type stuff.  Not that four people was a big enough sample size to be statistically relevant.
(Hey, Danny paid attention in science!  That’s where he learned about space!)
So, Danny should probably try to generate some relationship drama.  His eyes slid over to Nocturn.  Nocturn gave him a thin, dangerous, smile.
Danny pulled his lips back in a sort of instinctive half-snarl.  More goo leaked out past his teeth.
Maybe– Maybe Danny should kiss them.  That would startle Clockwork, right?  And show Nocturn exactly how gross their weird dream goo was.
And then Nocturn would kill him.
(Plus, Nocturn was, like, a million years old.  Kissing him, even for shock value was just–  Yeah.)
Danny looked away.  Clockwork absently patted his knee, and he nearly jumped out of his skin.  That was going to be hard to get used to.
So, relationship drama between Clockwork and Nocturn was…  Not out, exactly, but shelved for the moment.  Until he failed to come up with a better idea.
What else?  Well, if Clockwork thought Danny was his kid in this dream, maybe he could run away from home?  Except Nocturn was very capable of dragging him back, or making a fake dream-Danny.  Well, it’d be safer to try.  He’d put that on his list.
Faking a seizure or something?  Clockwork would be able to see through that, though, wouldn’t he?  Maybe if Danny added in some judicious use of powers, like duplication–
Duplication.  Would the thing in his throat duplicate?  It wasn’t part of him, but then, neither were his clothes– Or were they?  His suit warped with him, healed, dissolved if it was separated from him for too long…
“Daniel?”  Clockwork was checking his temperature again, and this was absolutely not the right time to have an existential crisis.  On any subject.
He bit his lower lip, and then wrenched at his core to duplicate.
Duplication was a difficult power even in ideal circumstances.  Danny’s present circumstances were far from ideal.  He was dream-hopping, and there was a foreign ghostly presence (however weak) lodged in his throat.
He encountered the problems caused by the compressed sleepwalker first.  While he was separating, peeling apart from himself, it wasn’t, and when he started to slide away from himself, particle moving from particle, it caught.  The effect was like his throat being grabbed, twice over, but he had experience with that, so he pulled.
Which is when he encountered the next problem.
In the real world, the waking world, duplication was somewhere between mitosis and intangibly splitting himself.  Which wasn’t an explanation that satisfied Sam, Jazz, or even Tucker, but Danny didn’t have a better one.  Especially since he was probably doing it wrong in the first place.
But this wasn’t the real world.  This was inside Clockwork's dream, inside his mind, inside his body.  So instead of stepping away from each other and into clear air, the duplicates stepped back into the net-maze of Clockwork's will.
Danny was slammed back into his body, his throat aching as if he'd been screaming for hours.  His fingers felt numb.  He had also fallen off the stool.
Huh.  He didn't have to fake a seizure after all.  He could just have one.
A blurry mass of purple and blue entered his vision.  “You are back with us,” said Clockwork.  “How do you feel?”
“Bad,” said Danny.
“Do you know who you are?”
“Danny.”
“Do you know where you are?”
Briefly, Danny hoped that the reason he was on the floor was that he'd managed to wake Clockwork up, but, no, there was Nocturn.  Smug bastard.
“Workshop,” said Danny, when it became clear he wouldn't be able to say anything at all unless he lied.  He tried to sit up, not wanting to lay in the puddle of goo he had produced.
Clockwork pushed him back down.  “Wait.  Are you injured?”
“I– No.”
“Are you certain?”
“Yeah,” said Danny.  “I’m fine.  Really.”
Clockwork frowned.  “Nocturne, love, will you watch him for a moment?  I will fetch his medicine.”
Nocturn hummed.  “Of course,” they said.
“Thank you,” said Clockwork.  He leaned close to Danny again and pressed another kiss to his forehead.  “I know this is difficult, but it will be alright.”
Danny didn’t want to be left alone with Nocturn, but he wasn’t able to say that, because Nocturn was a jerk.
“That was quite a performance,” said Nocturn.  “Very dramatic.”
Danny scowled and rolled over to push himself to his knees.  “It wasn’t a performance.”
“Everything is a performance.  Just because it is genuine doesn’t make it less so.”
“Whatever,” said Danny.  He looked around the workshop and all its detail… Although some of those details were warping in Clockwork’s absence.  If it was like this in a dream, how much did it matter to him?
The seed of an idea took root.  It wasn’t an idea he liked.  It also wasn’t something he wanted to try with Nocturn right there.
“Oh, dear me.  It seems you have managed to have a thought,” said Nocturn.  A lounge chair materialized for them to sit in.  “Please, don’t let me stop you.”
“Like you could,” said Danny, before he could think better of it.
“You are in a dream I control.  Of course I could.  I already did.  But I’m curious.  And I would very much like to disillusion Clockwork as to your… virtue.”
Danny scowled, but shut his mouth before he could say anything else.  “You really aren’t going to stop me?”
Nocturn smiled. Black liquid came up out of Danny’s throat with enough force that it started to pour out of his nose.  Danny’s hands flew to his face in an instinctive attempt to clear his airway.
“Remember.  I could if I wanted to.  Easily.”
Danny gagged again, then sucked in a wet-sounding breath.
“You’re already beaten,” said Nocturn.  “The only reason I haven’t squashed you is because that would upset Clockwork.  As soon as he no longer cares.”  Nocturn mimed squishing a bug.
Danny reached out and grasped the edge of a workbench, pulling himself up.  He made eye contact with Nocturn.  Then, he grabbed the clock Clockwork had been working on and smashed it to the floor.
Nocturn looked bored.
Danny put his other hand on the edge of the workbench and heaved it upward, overturning it.  He looked back at Nocturn, who looked even more bored.
So, they really weren’t going to do anything.
Fine.  Great.  That probably meant that this wouldn’t work, if Nocturn was so unconcerned, but now that he'd started, he couldn't stop.
He overturned all of the tables and swept his hands over the shelves on the walls, knocking everything off, then hit the shelves themselves with a few ectoblasts for good measure.  When that didn't destroy the more robust mechanisms, he  manifested an ectoplasmic construct in the rough shape of a hammer and started hitting things.
“Daniel?”
Clockwork’s tone was so confused that Danny felt his heart plummet even though that was exactly the reaction he’d been hoping for.  He wanted Clockwork to be shocked.  That way, he’d wake up.  And rescue Danny from Nocturn.  Hopefully.
(Danny really didn’t like how Nocturn had gotten the best of Clockwork, to put him to sleep, but he hoped that Nocturn had just taken Clockwork by surprise.  Despite Clockwork being able to see the future.)
“Why would you do this?” asked Clockwork.  He was standing in the doorway, holding a small, antique medicine bottle and a silver spoon.
“Because–” Danny couldn’t just say ‘you’re in a dream and you need to wake up,’ so… “I hate you and you aren’t my real dad!”
Clockwork’s face cleared instantly.  “I see!” he said.  “You are testing my limits to see how I treat you when I am angry with you.  Rest assured, that I have no intention of harming you, kicking you out, or restricting your food access, as others have.”  He paused, thoughtful.  “Go to your room.  After you take your medicine, that is.”
“Medicine?” asked Danny, eying the bottle.  Knowing Nocturn - and dreams in general - whatever was in there would do something unpleasant to him.
Clockwork flew up to him.  “For your illness,” he said.  “To help with the seizures, memory loss, and… other symptoms.”  He looked around the destroyed room.  “Of which this may be part.  No matter.”  He made a sweeping gesture and with a wave of blue sparkles the workshop jumped back to the way it was before Danny decided to wreck it.
Right.  Master of Time.  Master of Time in a dream, even.
While Danny stared at the room, Clockwork had opened the medicine bottle and carefully poured something milky into the spoon.  “There,” he said, when the spoon was full to its brim.  “Take this, please.”
“Um,” said Danny, leaning away.  He took a step backward.  Clockwork took a step forward, raising the spoon to the level of Danny’s lips.  “No, I think I’m fine.”
The milky substance smelled sweet and floral.  Not like medicine at all.
“Daniel,” said Clockwork.  “You have had this before.  It is unpleasant, but it isn’t poisonous.  I must insist that you take it.  When you don’t, you have more seizures.”
Danny shot a look at Nocturn.  “It’s true,” said Nocturn, with mock concern.  “You will have more seizures if you don’t take that.”
That was a threat.  Judging by his expression, Clockwork hadn’t noticed.
So… the choice was to have Nocturn giving him ‘seizures,’ or drink the mystery liquid.  Which was… Well, Nocturn could probably make him drink it, if he wanted to.  He was forcing him, basically, just with the force of Clockwork’s concern and various threats.
It was effective.  Danny would say that.
Very reluctantly, he opened his mouth.  The ‘medicine’ tasted like grass.
“There we are,” said Clockwork.  “Now, I will walk you to your room.”
“You don’t have to do that,” said Danny, because he’d been hoping to escape into the depths of Long Now to plan his next attempts to escape.  From the dream, that is, not from Long Now.  Or dream Long Now.
“Daniel, you just had a seizure.  I don’t want you to have another one while you’re walking down the hall.”  He paused.  “I could carry you.”
“No,” said Danny, quickly.  “That’s weird.”
“Then we’ll go together.”  Clockwork put his hand on the small of Danny’s back and steered him out of the workshop.
For a second, Danny thought that Nocturn might stay behind.  He was disappointed.
The hallway wasn’t as clearly and sharply defined as the workshop was.  It was almost generic, an average of all the hallways in the lair.  Walking down it took both longer and shorter than it should have, the walls, floor, and ceiling sliding by at different rates.  It was both ruler straight and twisty enough that he couldn't see more than a meter ahead.
By the time they appeared in front of the door (or the door appeared in front of them), Danny was thoroughly dizzy and leaning on Clockwork for support.
“There we are,” said Clockwork, opening the door and leading Danny in.  He patted Danny's back.  “Clean yourself up and take a rest.  I will come get you when it is time to eat.  Unless you would prefer me to stay?”
Danny glanced at Nocturne, then shook his head.
“Would you like Nocturn to stay?  Pajamas he can put you to sleep–”
Danny shook his head harder.
“Very well,” said Clockwork.  He flew back out into the hallway.  “Call us if you need us, please.”  He shut the door, the latch making a faint clicking noise as it fell into place.
Danny was alone.  In a dream that wasn't his.  Briefly, he wondered if the room he was in was going to fall apart or dissolve.
When that didn't happen, Danny looked around the room.  It was kind of amazing, actually.  Just… not in the way that Danny usually expected from Long Now and Clockwork.
It was detailed, just like the workshop, although the edges were soft, comfortable, rather than sharp.  The bed was covered in a blue quilt with pale gold stitching.  It hadn’t been made quite right - actually, it looked a lot like how he made his bed when he was in a hurry - and the sheets underneath were peeking out.  The pillows were slightly askew, but they looked soft and fluffy.  The rugs on the floor continued that theme.  There were shelves along the walls that contained books, model rockets, and other knick-knacks.  The walls had posters for bands and space shuttles.  A desk in the corner had both drawing tools and a sleek computer on it.  A window looked out on what appeared to be outer space itself.
In short, it was the kind of room Danny would design for himself, if he didn’t have a budget, complete with the contents of the bedside table.  Actually, some of the things in the room - posters, models, and books - were stuff Danny had in his room.  His real room.
He didn’t know whether to be creeped out or touched.
Danny wanted to look at those books.  He wanted to turn on the computer, and flip through the sketchbook.  He wanted to know what Clockwork thought he would like, what he thought he’d draw, or play.
The palms of his hands itched and he licked his lips.
He shook his head and looked away.
Just in time for Nocturn to appear.
“Did you truly expect to surprise or shock someone who can see the future?” they asked, mockingly.
Danny was pretty sure that he had surprised Clockwork.  It just hadn’t been enough.  He had other questions.
“Shouldn’t he be able to tell what’s happening now if he can still see the future and the past and everything?”
Nocturn waved a lazy hand.  “Clockwork is Master of Time, I am Master of Dreams.  He does not read minds.  I can.  Everything that is happening is happening inside his head.”
“But then I should be able to surprise him,” said Danny, holding on to his point.  “Since he can’t see what I’m going to do.”
Nocturn’s eyes were solid red, but Danny knew the body language that went into an eyeroll.  “He may not be able to see what you are going to do now.  But he has seen every possible action you could take, over and over, in his waking life.  What he has not seen, he has imagined.  There is nothing you could do to surprise him.”
“You don’t know that.”
“I do,” said Nocturn.  “Just as I know that you would be doomed to fail even if you could surprise Clockwork.  You picked a fight with me in a dream.”
Danny felt himself flush.  “Well, I wasn’t going to let you do whatever you wanted to Clockwork!  And I’m still not!  I’m not giving up just because you’re stronger than I am.”  He hadn’t done that with Dash, and he wasn’t going to now.
For some reason, this made Nocturn pause.  They swept their gaze over Danny, from his head to his toes.  It made his body feel tingly, and he crossed his arms.
“I see,” said Nocturn, tone significantly more subdued than before.  It didn’t make Danny feel better.  “But your plan, if it can even be called that, failed.”
“My next one won’t.”

With the Words of a Love Song (MBC X Healer! Reader)
AN: Aright, aright, I see what you're laying down, I see it. How are y'all feeling after the last MBC fic anyway? the engagement I got on it was CRAZYYY and I adored it sm
This will Not follow the storyline my main MBC story does, so if you all begin missing Blu, fret not she is still around, just not in this universe <3
Tumblr media
☁ Now, these guys with a healer partner? That's a dynamic for sure.
☁ Probably better for Sprout's poor heart lmao
☁ Astro is by far the most protected toon on each run if this is the case. With not only Sprout and Cosmo playing favorites, you probably play favorites as well, which it's Astro. Who wouldn't.
☁ Since Cosmo and Sprout bond over baking, I imagine you and Astro bond over late nights. Like, c'mon, imagine it's late at night and while Astro is making sure the other two are sound asleep with only the best of dreams, he's laying with you as you hum some soft tune.
☁ Speaking off, the second they hear your voice, they're all over lullabies. Especially since nightmares from their times as twisteds still haunt their memories. Having you and Astro there make falling asleep easier than it was even pre-breakout.
☁ It quickly becomes a favorite part of the night time routine.
☁ Honestly, that's probably what kickstarts the entire relationship in this universe. Cosmo gets hit/heals someone/ another reason here and you're closer than Sprout was, quickly healing him with a small little rhythm.
☁ Already Sprout's got his eye on you for that as Cosmo is adamant on thanking you with your favorite dessert- he doesn't know what else to do because he's never been healed by anyone outside of Sprout or his cousin. Of course, where those two roam in my world, Astro isn't far to follow.
☁ He probably meets you on a late night walk where you're humming to yourself, maybe snuggling with Coal.
☁ Anyway, I've established previously that these three fall hard and fall fast, and are full of so much love to give. They spend endless hours trying to give you all the confidence you deserve, even if you fail to see it.
☁ They respect your wishes on limiting the use of your ability on the field, leaving most healing to Cosmo or Sprout. The only exception being if one of them needs it. In which case, you and one of them will hide in a secluded area so you can very quickly use your ability before moving once more.
☁And maybe when Astro specifically asks. As much as he loves the treats (And this is my personal headcanon) he has trouble eating and running at the same time, which is necessary when the bakers heal him, so having you sit him down for a moment of reprieve is much preferred for him.
☁ By the way. I never mentioned this in my previous MBC stuff because it wasn't really relevant, but the worst person to heal, by far is Sprout. In the other verse, he has to constantly be open to being healed because Disractor! Reader is The Worst (tm), and he needs to be alive to heal them, but with Healer! Reader?
☁ Out the window. I said you all were gremlins, this entire polycule is gremlins, and I meant it. Sprout included. He is the worst to get to sit down, and accept any form of heal if it meant taking a bandage or med kit from someone else (Like you, Cosmo or Astro). But with your ability he's a little more receptive to being healed which is good for your heart and Cosmo's poor nerves.
☁ It's not very often you have to use your ability, but of course, accidents do happen.
☁ Especially with the floors as unpredictable as always.
☁ They knew it would be a blackout the second they stepped out as the sound of the generators sputtering was too loud to ignore. Astro was quick to find you, as he gave off enough light to guide both your way and his own, while Sprout and Cosmo watched Pebble run off, calling the attention of whatever twisted he found.
☁ "You two stay with each other." Sprout practically ordered, looking back at you and Astro. "Me and Cosmo will be following Pebble. Keep track of which direction you go in."
☁ "Of course, thank you dad." Vee piped in behind him with a teasing cackle, even as the berry turned around to glare at her.
☁ "Come now, let's move. It's no fair to Pebble if he's suffering for our dallying." Rodger quickly cut in, walking forward to a nearby machine.
☁ "We'll stick together." You quickly amended, giving Sprout a soft smile before you and Astro were both walking off, sticking close to the walls for a worst case scenario.
☁ The run quickly turned into just that as every minute that passed there seemed to be the sound of someone getting hit. Blackouts were always hard, especially the further up you got, as you never knew how many Twisteds there were. You were convinced the onl y reason you and Astro stayed safe was because of Vee's ability, highlighting any twisteds wandering near the two of you.
☁ Well that and Astro's stealth which worked wonderfully as he kept you behind him, just in case.
☁ By the time the last machine was finished, you and Astro were hiding behind some crates near the elevator, quickly slipping in when it opened while eagerly awaiting the others. One by one, they trickled in, looking worse for wear. Beaten and bruised, stained in their own ichor, but healed. Not that you had any doubt in your healers afterall.
☁ Cosmo was the first one back, wincing, but standing. This was the last floor anyway. You'd take him to med bay right away.
☁ He still smiled when he saw you and Astro though, welcoming the kisses bestowed upon him with a tired wag in his curled tail (No one mentioned I gave Cosmo a tail. Y'all. COSMO TAIL CMON).
☁ Sprout was next, joining the little huddle before you could even register he was there, burrowing right in the middle. He was fine as well, teasing Astro that he could've used the Stamina boost, but could tell the celestial was busy. The only response he got was a cheeky little shrug.
☁ The only toon left was Pebble, who announced his presence with a happy little bark, only for it to turn into a sharp yelp as he turned the corner and a Twisted Coal appeared out of seemingly nowhere, sinking her teeth into his side. She let go if only to snarl at Pebble, it gave the poor pup the opportunity to run into the elevator.
☁ There was a flurry of commotion as all eyes turned to Sprout and Cosmo, but Cosmo didn't have the means to heal Pebble without risking his own life and Sprout was fresh out of tapes after healing Rodger.
☁ And while you didn't like it, you knew what you'd have to do.
☁ Gently shuffling in between Sprout and Vee, who cradled Pebble between them, you swallowed whatever was choking you, extending your hands to gently lay on Pebble's side.
☁ Sprout's eyes were immediately on you, torn between protecting your comfort and healing Pebble, but you ignored his concerned looks. You nearly buckled before a hand on your shoulder had you glancing up, Astro giving you a soft smile as Cosmo immediately sat beside you, laying on your shoulder.
☁ With a deep breath, you sang the same verse you always did, feeling your ability thrum in your veins as you channeled the energy into the wound.
☁ It closed seamlessly and before they knew it, Pebble was back to his happy, tail-wagging, circle running self, giving you a cold lick in thanks along with another yip.
☁ Feeling drained from the action, you tired pat the rock as the elevator begins to return to the lobby.
☁ "Wow, I didn't know you could do that." Vee mentions in the silence, a grin on her face as she pets Pebble, who had darted over to her. "Neat trick."
☁ "That's my partner." Sprout beams, pride practically radiating off of him as you chuckle, leaning onto Cosmo. The cake roll presses a kiss to your temple as you do so, rubbing your shoulder as he watches Sprout and Vee quickly get into a playful argument.
☁ Astro is still behind you, even if he has the same, cocky, prideful look on his face that Sprout did.
☁ You're sure there are consequences that'll come from this, but as you doze just slightly against Cosmo's shoulder, you can't really find it in yourself to care.
☁ As you finally give yourself to the urge to fall asleep, you catch Astro's eye, and a sudden realization hit you.
☁ Astro, you sneaky son of a bitch.
Small AN:
This is the OG Request:
Hi again! All of the asks you do are AMAZING! Thank you again for doing my asks! So, here’s another one for you to look at in your free time!
A moonberrycake (what a shocker) x reader. The reader can heal people, but only when they sing. Reader is the most confident in their singing so they never use their ability, but on one run, they accidentally use it to treat another toons damages.
Hope this doesn’t seem cringe and you enjoy it! (Btw, can I be 💜 anon if you do those types of things?)
And yes! You absolutely can be! I do do those types of things!

I’m sorry I swear I was planning on moving on but then I had a conversation with my friend last night and now I’m triggered again… I don’t mind if people disagree but damn it was really frustrating, for a few reasons, one of them being that even if I’m biased I still think I’m a better source of information and opinion after having watched 12 hours of streams versus some reaction channel videos. Like sure I like Dream and relate to both c and ccDream but I’m not heartless or unreasonable. I’m not saying, ‘oh my poor autistic dweam can do no wrong.’ I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m here for the facts and truth and what it says and what is reasonable based on that. I’ve dropped plenty of other YouTubers for doing messed up things, and Dream would be no different if he actually did cross a serious line. But honestly I don’t think he’s really done worse than plenty of other creators and at least he has apologized which is more than you can say for most others. So by all mean hate him for whatever reason, there are plenty of YouTubers I dislike, but don’t do so because you think he’s a creep or because of things that just aren’t true, and give me a little more credit that I’d not just support anyone or use autism to justify anything.
The reason I’ve talked a lot about the autism and ADHD is because I feel like it is very important. But my friend (who is also autistic), last night was giving me a lot of shit for it, noting how autism doesn’t excuse behavior and is beside the point. The thing is though, this situation is not like how people are saying Elon doing the salute is an autistic oopsie, no I’m literally just pointing out actual statements and points the content creators have said about why they dislike Dream, which are literally characteristics of his neurodivergence. Look no further for an example than what Jack says in the podcast, “I genuinely think he lacks the ability to read social queues.” That’s literally just autism 101, I’m not making excuses for behavior, I’m just pointing out the why a behavior is happening to say it’s not because he’s some evil bad manipulative guy. Tubbo is the one who noted that Dream’s behavior was weird and inappropriate and how he didn’t seem to understand the social rules and stuff. Those are actually things that have been talked about here. People have actually commented on how Dream’s over explanation and stuttering and repeating himself and such is manipulative and all I’m saying is no it’s literally just AuDHD. I’m not making stretches for behavior here, I’m not extrapolating here on what Dream did, if anything I’m focused more on the actual comments of the opposing side.
Autism isn’t relevant to the situation because of the meme. It’s no longer about whether or not he is allowed to use the r word because he is autistic, it’s about this inherent loathing people have where a lot of their listed reasons are typical ADHD and autism characteristics. All I’m doing is looking at what they themselves said, I don’t even have to theorize, Jack straight up just said he thinks Dream lacks social queues as part of his discussion on why he dislikes Dream. What do you mean his neurodivergence isn’t relevant, when the reasons people are currently bashing him are neurodivergent traits. That’s like saying, well her blue hair is irrelevant to the conversation - well then why do you hate her? - because I don’t like how she always dyes her hair. Heh? It is relevant because the things they hate him for connect directly to autism and ADHD, it is relevant because the internet is making fun of him after that stream with Tubbo for how he speaks because of his neurodivergence. It’s relevant because the reason people believe these rumors or spread rumors in the first place is because of the inherent dislike of autistic people they are literally describing on air.

Trey’s dream has shed a little bit more light on his relationship with Riddle, I think. this is unedited and unfiltered. I may take it down later and replace it with a thought out, formatted, and structured analysis. This is just off the cuff stuff for now.
TLDR: The Riddle in Trey’s head is probably still 8 years old and Trey might have trouble seeing Riddle as a 17-year-old. Riddle, on the other hand, might be a bit more objective about their friendship, but that really remains to be seen.
Riddle, who deals with his mother every day , has lots of trauma to think about and deal with. That’s not to say the tart thing wasn’t significant to Riddle (we know it definitely was), or to say that Riddle forgot about Trey and Chen’ya (3,000 crossword puzzles!), but I think Trey…fixated on it more??? Or fixated on it in a different way at the very least.
So Riddle has all these traumas from his mom, the tart thing being a drop in the bucket (albeit a very significant one!). Meanwhile, Trey has no other (plot relevant) traumas. So Trey has been kind of ruminating on this moment, remembering Riddle as he was, building him up in his head, a la the Great Gatsby, and doesn’t really know how to handle it when Riddle turns out to be different than he remembers. Meanwhile Riddle, having more or less turned his feelings “off,” approached reuniting with Trey again in a more objective way. He knew this guy for like two months, six years ago. And Dr. Rosehearts has been piling more shit on top of Riddle since then as well (so that Riddle not only has Rules Trauma, but also food trauma, appearance trauma, etc.).
Trey, having not had the same shit piled on him, has only this one moment that affected him so profoundly to ruminate on. Whether consciously or not, it seems like all Trey can think about when he thinks of Riddle is the tart thing. It’s like Trey’s brain took a picture of little Riddle in that moment, and won’t let go of it. He’s unable to see Riddle in any light that gives Riddle some agency to maybe be a bit different then Trey remembers, even besides the militance. It kind of puts his behavior pre OB into perspective.
A little bit of an aside here, but Trey’s attitude toward Riddle really frustrated me at that point in the story, and I was relating pretty hard to Ace! it irritated me, because I saw it as Trey babying Riddle (which it kind of was) and having had a similar childhood to Riddle in a lot of ways, it annoyed me. I felt like Riddle was being condescended to a little bit. But now, knowing that Trey had hyped Riddle up to hell and back, it makes more sense.
Trey, whether he was to admit it or not, is a pretty nurturing guy (whether that comes naturally to him or not is a whole other post). So he sees Riddle as a very mature, albeit somewhat happy-go-lucky 8-year-old who gets mistreated by his mom. Trey is so stuck in this moment he is incapable of seeing Riddle as the near-grown man that he is. Dr. Rosehearts is Trey’s hero (in a twisted way) just as much as she is Riddle’s villain. The tart thing existing in Trey’s dream speaks to this! Riddle, through Trey’s trauma, serves as a kind of outlet for Trey’s fussing and mothering. Dr. Rosehearts has given Trey a child to spoil. (This, of course, is not the end all be all of Trey’s treatment of Riddle (please read on) but it’s worth noting.) Trey wants to nourish and comfort his friend, who wouldn’t need nourishing and comfort if something hadn’t happened to him (Trey subconsciously emotionally seeing the tart incident as a singular event, because it’s really all he bore witness too).
Trey’s dream wasn’t “Riddle and all of Heartslabyul happy and carefree,” it was “spoiling everyone, especially Riddle, and maybe making up for past mistakes.” (Edit: I realize I didn’t remove a sentence I was going to for clarity. Trey’s dream does indeed have to do with “letting everyone be carefree”. I meant Trey wants “happy and carefree in addition to making up for what he might feel are his past mistakes” whoopsie! 😭)Trey’s dream, Riddle eats without restraint. Riddle is tall. The only thing Riddle doesn’t get is the title of Housewarden, because that makes it much more difficult for Trey to accommodate Riddle and everyone else. The dream knows that Trey wants to dote on everyone, especially Riddle, but it also knows that Trey is tired. He can’t sustain both being Riddle’s vice housewarden (a position foisted upon him by his dorm mates, interestingly enough!) and being as indulgent toward others as he would like (or feels he must be).
It wouldn’t surprise me if Riddle’s dream had very little to do with Trey. Even if it’s “Riddle got to have a good childhood,” Trey may just serve as a face, but could really be anyone. He may have a shit ton of friends, which we know he wants, and Trey may be treated as equal among them as opposed to a bestie.
I’m not saying Riddle doesn’t care about Trey, or that they’re not close. But I think Trey really has an idea of Riddle that just…doesn’t exist anymore. Riddle is changing and growing, but he’s not 8. He’s growing into an adult, and gaining agency and forming a personality that extends beyond his mother. There may be a day when Riddle has a healthy relationship with rules, food, his mom, etc. But the Riddle that Trey remembers isn’t there anymore. He’ll always be a little bit different. And this kind of makes the “little brother” thing make sense, I think, even when we know that Riddle acted like he didn’t know Trey (which he didn’t, of course, It’d been 6 years.). Even now, Riddle and Trey have only known each other…what…2 years total?
Of course, their dynamic when it involves Cater is interesting as well, but that’s a different post I think.

I dreamt the other night that there was an extremely mid live action Murderbot TV show adaptation. That's not my retroactive assessment in the daytime. In the dream I was like, "This has multiple very avoidable or outright comedic flaws. I am going to binge all of it." (I'm aware that this is very meta.)
It had a "life on a starship" structure in the style of Star Trek, though it may have technically been set on one of the satellites orbiting Preservation.
The core relationship was SecUnit and Mensah, which was executed with absolute sincerity that couldn't not be charming, and was also where a lot of the more narmish moments were centered.
SecUnit would hack devices by focusing on them, cuing the camera to zoom in on the relevant machine—then the zoom in would continue with a transition to aggressively average CGI of the inside of the machine, which would animate it...being hacked or whatever. I got the impression that happened at a pivotal moment at least once an episode.
Some of the canon characters were present and were well-cast and characterized. However, the "crew" had also been padded out with a handful of original side characters. There was a gruff ship's doctor type (more Kelso than Bones though), a cook SecUnit had an arbitrary rivalry with, and for some reason two teenage boys who were BFFs. The cook existed to facilitate interpersonal comedy, the teens to have sci-fi concepts explained to them, and the doctor to solve like a third of the one-off plotlines at the end of the episode once whatever emotional arc they'd been facilitating was concluded. The new characters were almost all played by white guys like after they cast the canon characters thoughtfully and considerately they ran out of energy/wanted to work in people who were already on the lot.
I dream-watched three random episodes, but unfortunately the only one I remember specifically is the last one, where the plot was Murderbot getting amnesia (because of sci-fi reasons) to back when the company owned it before it hacked itself. The emotional climax was it deciding to help Mensah even though it didn't remember their friendship, by disabling a machine that was harming her—which it did by triggering the hacking animation by slamming its hands against it several times. Like you do when you hack stuff. The amnesia was fixed after this by the medical doctor administering a liquid for it to drink that reportedly had nanomachines in it. I'm pretty sure the prop was one of those plastic cups dentists give you stuff to swish around your mouth in with water in it.
Murderbot was played by a tall and gloriously buff...enby woman...? I don't exactly recall. —Who in behind the scenes content had a startlingly sweet demeanor and higher vocal register than the character.
10/10 dream I am laughing my socks off. I miss the fake show.

Mission Light - Lawyer Path Part 2 - Out Now!
Tumblr media
Hello guys, it's me again :)
First of all, I know I said that I would try to upload the update by the 8th of April, but yeah, that didn't happen, obviously.
Before my top surgery, a lot happened, and I had no time to finish everything.
I also lost some of the things I had written because I was careless.
I was frustrated about that, and after the surgery, I needed some time to recover. I also had a few complications, and university started again.
By now, I've managed to rewrite a lot of what was lost, but not everything.
Since I finally want to put something out there, and it's been six months since I originally wanted to finish the lawyer prologue, I've decided to upload what I have so far.
Which, in itself, is also a lot—I'd estimate it to be around 170,000–180,000 words :)
Now, there are still about 3-4 things missing, but when you play the new update, you'll notice that I added a short text/info when that's the case.
I will add those sections in the future. There are also some more minor things I want to add here and there, so my work on the lawyer prologue isn't finished yet.
However, since I have worked on it so much, I’m really tired of seeing it at the moment. So maybe I'll start working on the next chapter first and then get back to what’s missing in the lawyer prologue later on to regain some motivation/fun in writing. I've been wanting to start the next chapter for so long; I finally want to write all the scenes I've been planning and more.
Honestly, it’s been an up-and-down process. Sometimes I was really motivated, sometimes I wasn't, and there were just parts I kept putting off because I had no fun writing them, but I needed them for the progression of the story. So, the quality of the writing may differ in some parts.
I also have to fix the scaling and the relationship/flirt points for some characters/parts, but that's something that only concerns me for now since they aren’t really relevant at the moment, but yeah.
Starting now, I want to do weekly updates. That means, at the end of every week, I’ll upload a new version with everything I’ve written and done during that week, so please remember that. It could be a new choice, just one new paragraph, or maybe a lot of new content.
I will always tell you what I added/changed, though.
If you find any bugs/code problems, please let me know on Tumblr :)
I also try to answer the remaining asks at some point, but it may take some time since I have an important exam coming up that I can’t fail because it's my second-to-last chance to pass.
Nonetheless, I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved.
It’s been almost a year since I started working on this project, and even though I would have liked to have published more by now, I’m really happy with what I’ve done so far.
The way it’s going right now, I’ll probably be writing this for like 5 more years, but that’s okay—art takes time, and I know I function differently than others, in the way I work, think, and how my energy levels work.
I’ve worked for at least three hours almost every day on this project, at least on the days I was home and not out, and it's the most, the longest, and the most consistent thing I’ve ever done.
Even if my writing, storytelling, progression, and choices aren't perfect, I’m happy I started this. Otherwise, it would have forever remained a dream of mine.
This is the project I always wanted to do: writing, game mechanics, my art, and my characters. So, I think this will be sort of my life project.
It's really, really far in the future, but at one point, I would love to add maybe a mini webtoon, mini-games, a better sidebar, more lore, game mechanics like a diary or letters, a timeline, some voiced lines, etc., stuff like that, and maybe even a character creator drawn by me, where you can create your own character.
That way, when I finish everything, I’ll truly have my dream work of art, incorporating all forms of art I like and everything I mentioned before.
I am grateful for every person reading and liking my story; it means so much to me.
Now for the update
This update includes:
Updated Prologue and First Part:
I changed a lot of the writing/internal struggles of the main character
I added the possibility to play matchmaker between Hongyu and Marcos/Maria
I added more depth to the main character's past with Noel and the lingering effects
I also changed a lot of the choices and their outcomes
I added a new system for Noel and the main character's dynamic (hate him, believe in good/nostalgia, afraid of him)
The New Second Part:
Meet Noel again and deal with him in different ways
Learn about your coworkers' superpowers
Pick one of two choices, leading to two entirely different fight paths
Awaken your own powers
Decide how to approach the fight with Noel (on both paths), leading to many individual fight outcomes (the two different broader paths with 4 main splits and even more choices on one, and 2-3 splits on the other)
Meet another agent, Min, in the aftermath of the fight and deal with everything that happened
Ask more questions and figure out more about what’s going on and went on behind the scenes
Prepare/start to get ready to confront Noel and his group in the next chapter to finally end things once and for all
Meet more agents (Sinan and Nayla) in the end and meet your group's pet dog, Vin :)
That’s it for now :)
Take care,
Jakob

Note
You put a lot small visual elements and details in that I never seem to notice on my first read, and it always makes rereading exciting. What’s a detail from the comic that nobody ever seemed to notice? I’m sure there are things that nobody has mentioned, especially from the early chapters, that you’d want to talk about
Oh man.........that's a great question.
The thing is, there are a lot of details that people don't pick up, but there are definitely eagle-eyed readers that also do! There are also details which most didn't pick up until someone posted about it, and now everyone knows!
There are also details which are actually... yet to be revealed as relevant! That's a secret tool that'll help us later. :)
But most of it is plot relevant decisions I make which make the story more full, but are not necessarily NECESSARY for full enjoyment.
For example, in the very first comic, when Earl approaches Steven....
Tumblr media
Her eye isn't white! That was a fully deliberate decision. She didn't actually approach Steven because he wanted her to. That was a decision she made on her own!
Most of the white eye shenanigans in Season 1 were deliberate, albeit not very explicit. I suppose that worked out okay, though. Plus, many people DID catch on!
Also, this part in the Kindergarten comic:
Tumblr media
...which people assumed was a power separate from everything, is actually just the first instance of Steven's Command power. The thing is, I hadn't settled into how to portray it at the time, and also - the gem is Corrupted! It doesn't respond to Steven's commands the same way normal gems do. I planned to explore that earlier initially, but in the end, decided to tie it into much later plot.
In Season 1, EP 38, Steven asks Earl to write her name.... and she does! But in gem, not English, because she doesn't know how to write in English.
Tumblr media
She designates herself as White Pearl, putting the dash over the top diamond. It was at the time when she was still anxious about making Steven - White Diamond - angry with her.
And to add to the eye thing - during the Season finale of Season 2, when Steven wondered if Earl only came to see him because he forced her to - the comic where she finds him in the water proves otherwise!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Immediately when she grabs him and swims up, her eyes aren't white! She's doing it of her own accord.
Also, in Season 3's opening, when Rose is angry at what she THINKS is White Diamond, she almost has a slip of the tongue when talking about the past.
Tumblr media
There's a very pointed reason that panel of Earl is right there next to Rose's cut-off 'My...'
Also, when Rose leaves Steven in the Containment Sphere - the Baby Jail Bubble - she unlocks it to leave, and you can pretty clearly see an interesting detail.
Tumblr media
(which Steven, of course, doesn't notice.)
There's also a bit of a narrative tongue in cheek line-up which is accidental on Steven's part but still rings true:
Tumblr media
(TVTropes editors caught this one! Hey TVTrope editors!)
Also, this very famous Seaglass foreshadowing:
Tumblr media
The first instance of Steven connecting to tech was in the beginning of this season!
Tumblr media
When Steven has a bad dream after fusing with Earl and forming Bleached Coral, there's a hidden detail in this reflective text from Nightmare Rose:
Tumblr media
(It might be easier to read if you mirror-flip it.)
Another fun thing I enjoyed doing before I got busy with other stuff is gem language! Earl writes Steven notes in it to help him learn, and now signs with her English name,
Tumblr media
In the Cluster Experiments comic, if you look at the panels before stuff starts to Happen, you can find a few Experiments hiding in the background. :)
Tumblr media
In Amethyst's room, there is a Japanese stopsign and a d20 in the background.
Tumblr media
In episode 25 of season 4, Steven is playing Moonlight Sonata!
Tumblr media
In episode 33, the ship Steven connects to displays a bisection of the earth which showcases its lumpy core! Or rather, the megastructures that are hidden deep inside the mantle.
Tumblr media
It also showcases a few geothermal coring sites made during the colonization.
And by the way, the drill Pearl built was actually a repurposed ship hull which was used for the Space Race ship in the original show!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And man there are actually... many more! But I had to skip over them because they are alluding to things which have not yet been explicitly revealed! :D
But even with this, I'm sure there are other ones I'm missing. If you think you have one that should be listed - throw it on a reblog or in the comments!

Episode 5 is Really Good. Like, idk if anyone's really complaining about it being filler but cmon, every show should get a beach episode and this is the Beach Episode of DDBA. We get so much golden moments
Matt and his normal guy blind shtick
Tumblr media
Matt being a decent solicitor guy, who's also really good at dealing with people who's panicking. He's just so nice. We don't get to really see this when he's stressed in the main plot, ofc he's always nice, but it's the main thing to notice when it's not under the main plot of the show which is gritty dark vigilante bad politician stuff
CC overall has a nice voice that is very soothing and reassuring when he morphs into Matt Murdock
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's just so nice. That's why shit keeps happening to him
Not to mention the head tilt. My favorite thing. Very smort. Very clever handling of the not so smort robbers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Matt making new friends!! Yusuf Khan sir, you're a bright light in these dark hours :"))
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This?? :D he just had to say it ik
Tumblr media
He is a damn good lawyer alright
Tumblr media
This episode is like my dream filler episode for a vigilante/superhero story honestly. We need something without the pressure of the main plot. How the mc acts in a more relaxed situation (robbery in the vigilante world is normal, bet). Filler is not an insult idt
Plus who knows maybe we'll get Kamala and Yusuf relevant to the main plot. I don't have high hopes but who knows

Finally getting caught up on The Apothecary Diaries!!! 🥰🥰🥰 I've got 2 more episodes left.
It doesn't make ANY sense to me that nobody told Maomao until now that 1. there is a well-staffed clinic in the rear palace, and 2. she could get executed for making medicine as a woman!!!
Like, there was literally a whole to-do about how the only healthcare option was the quack doctor in season 1! I guess the clinic is only for the staff, and not available to the actual concubines? And is more about quarantining than providing treatments. But still, that's, like, very relevant to Maomao's interests; you'd think it would've come up!!
Also!! Maomao has been going around collecting ingredients and making drugs for like a year!! Everyone knows this! Jinshi openly refers to her as "Apothecary"!!!?? Also she was literally raised by an apothecary/former palace doctor who HAS to have known the rules? He's been teaching her his trade her whole life; he never thought to mention, "oh hey this is actually illegal for you to do, maybe keep it on the down-low"???
(Actually, is it even legal for HIM to be making drugs, since he's no longer a "doctor"? Or is that rule only enforced within the palace??)
No one seems that worried about it though, lol. She's made stuff for the emperor before, too, right? I guess it's one of those situations where most of the people in power are on her side, but if someone decided to make a stink about it, and had enough evidence, the emperor may not reasonably be able to make an exception for her.
In true lesbian fashion, I remain completely neutral on Jinshi, lol. Obviously the slow-burn romance thing is happening, which doesn't bother me, happy for them, but they really seem more like besties to me?? They like getting on each other's nerves and picking each other's brains more than anything else. (I do think it's sweet that, completely unsolicited, she has decided she wants to make a drug that can regrow his balls, though, lol) Also the way Maomao is very aware of other women's beauty feels a little gay to me d: (Though i get that it's supposed to be a product of her upbringing. But still...)
to me Maomao is, like, woman-leaning bisexual, but also kinda demi/ace bc she simply has Other Things On Her Mind! (Mysteries and medications!!)
I love every time Maomao goes down a rabbit hole of trying to solve an international political problem, or a decades-old mystery, only to conclude with, "well, that's really none of my business." And genuinely seems to completely put it out of her mind! 😂 icon, queen, etc.
I think the friendship that's developed between Maomao and the quack doctor is genuinely quite sweet! And I love that she's also maintaining friendships with the servant girls 💕 Everyone wants her in their corner, she's literally playing every side, and I love that so much for her! 💕 she's the capitol's hottest commodity.
It's so fun to me that Maomao keeps finding out about new areas of the palace that she previously had no idea existed. I'm honestly living vicariously through her; living on a huge interconnected campus that always seems to have more historical buildings to explore is like my dream 🩷💚
