Hi! I was wondering if you had any favorite headcanons (made by you, or thought of by somebody else) about RoseGarden? There's a lot of things one can come up with for this sort of pairing, so I'm really curious about them.

I've seen some posts from others in passing, but can't tell you any one place to look for them specifically. I do invite anyone that sees this post to share any they have though!! As for me... ough where to start aha. oh wait an easy one

OSCAR FELL FIRST RUBY FELL HARDER AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL.

Bro literally said "woah" when he first met her and is Aware of just how Down Bad he's been this entire time. He's fine with it never being reciprocated though and doesn't want to pressure here. A very selfless love. Whereas I expect Ruby to get back from Total Trauma Island to a series of small "oh." moments that build up to a much bigger:

"Oh."

I like to think Ruby is demi-aroace. I can see her realization being an 'oh i have been a little bit in love with him this whole time' situation, but she just didn't realize because - like all her other feelings up to that point - she had been suppressing them. OR she looks back, acknowledges how much she's always cared for him and has a sort of "if it was ever going to be anyone, it was going to be you" moment. And in the face of all her loneliness and fear and grief she decides to 'trust love' and be a little bit selfish about this one thing.

aka just as Ruby chose adventure and adventure chose Oscar, Ruby chooses to love Oscar on purpose while he is sitting there like "I never had a choice but to love you. Okay this is getting long and less narratively focused so i'm gonna put it under a read more:

I like to think that Oscar doesn't stay a 'morning person' and instead becomes reallll grumpy if you wake him up too early, which Ruby does often cause she's always been an early riser. Meanwhile if Oscar manages to get Ruby to sleep for 'five more minutes', she turns into the grumpy one.

While still travelling together or working as huntsmen, Oscar always carries around some grab and go snacks that he knows Ruby likes cause she can sometimes forget to eat and giving her food is one of his love languages.

Speaking of 'love languages', I know the system has some ~questionable~ origins, but I do like to think Ruby is more of a "physical touch & words of affirmation" girlie as opposed to Oscar who is more "acts of service & gift giving". They're about even when it comes to quality time together. Are happy to be very engaged in whatever activity they've chosen or just like enjoying the other's company while they're both doing their own things.

Sparring is one of their favourite things to do together, but they are also known to dance (slow or silly) in the kitchen while they're waiting for baked goods to come out of the oven.

Oscar isn't a fan of dogs after the Hound incident and Ruby isn't big on cats after the Ever After, so they either don't get pets or choose something a bit more adventurous. Like a bunny or a lizard. Maybe chickens.

Oscar is very affectionate once they're properly in a relationship and he doesn't have to hide how he feels, but the two of them are never 'loud' about it. It's always been a quiet, subtle, natural thing. Very balanced and good communication. Patience and understanding whenever the other needs it. And they almost never fight... until either of them is about to do something dangerous and Protection Mode is activated, in which case all bets are off.

This is all I can come up with for now. Thank you for giving me an excuse to ramble abt RG and for your patience in how long it took me to answer. And again to anyone that would like to share their headcanons, please do so!!

…Sooooo…about that RWBY V9 EPILOGUE ANIMATIC…..

Not lying to tell you, I honestly forgot about RTX this year because I’ve been focused on other things these days. However, thanks to the almighty power of Twitter and the RWBY FNDM community, this squiggle meister was able to check out the V9 Epilogue Animatic that dropped at this year’s panel.

While I’m disappointed there was no announcement for RWBY V10 being greenlit, at least fans were given something to munch on with the featured animatic.

And y’know what folks?

If this animatic was an original draft for the ending of V9 then I am…

… SO FREAKING GLAD that this animatic never made it into the final cut for V9!

Because, for me, not only do I find the final ending of V9 perfect as it is with where it left the story off but also, some revisions need to be done for this epilogue ya’ll.

Don’t get me wrong. I thought this animatic was pretty good. I liked that it confirmed everyone’s shared theory that the others thought RWBYJ had died during the Fall of Atlas. At least that was confirmed to be canon.

However; if there is one part I would love to be revised for this epilogue, it would have to be the final moment after Raven (surprise, surprise but not really cause people theorized that shit since V8) brings RWBYJ to Vacuo and we get to see Nora, Ren and Oscar react to seeing their friends return from the literal dead and…Oscar is just standing there with the Oz-cane…smiling?

But it’s not a smile of deeper emotion. It’s not even his usual soft smile that he always gives Rubes.

Yes, yes, yes I know what ya’ll might be thinking---Squiggles, dear, please, it’s only a rough animatic. It’s not that deep sis---I KNOW…but STILL, bear with me on this one folks.

This is the closest thing to a RWBY V10 crumb that us fans will have to cling onto until the show gets greenlit…whenever. IF EVER.

This animatic is the closest thing to a potential V10 teaser that we have right now. It’s all we have right so if there are FNDM fam members picking it apart and overanalyzing it, can you really blame em?

IT’S ALL WE HAVE for V10.

So pardon me if the Pinehead Rosegarden shipper in me is a lil bummed out by this one shot of a rough, possible first draft animatic of an episode that could easily be the first episode of a possible next season of RWBY.

If I had to imagine a final version of this scene, I could easily see Oscar looking at Ruby softly. But even still…that’s…not the reaction I was expecting for their inevitable reunion.

If  you had told me that that’s not Oscar and is actually Oz in control, I would have a better chance at believing you with that because I am in disbelief that Ruby would return from everyone believing that she and the others had died during the fall of Atlas and…Oscar sees Ruby alive and well for the first time in who knows how long….maybe weeks or a month at best and his reaction is just a normal smile?

Not even a tearful smile or a shocked look like Nora. Just a casual smile before we cut back to Ruby’s final smile, like she was on the verge of tears before it fades to black.

Really? That’s it?  

NAAAAAAAAAH! Nah! Send that shit back to the boards for a second draft.

Again, I am fully aware that this is only an animatic and a bigger, more focused emotional reunion could easily happened after this scene in another “episode” if you look at this animatic as being like the end of the first or second episode of a potential RWBY V10.

But still, I can’t help but feel bummed by this a bit. At least the RG shipper in me is a little bummed.

If anything, I’m better off looking at this animatic as a precursor to a better more emotional and PROPER reunion between Ruby and Oscar.

That part I can dream about.

In the mean time, pardon my mini rant cause it’s been a while since I’ve talked about RWBY and I wanted to share my brief thoughts on the animatic for anyone who was curious about my thoughts on it.

🌹 A Year of Rosegarden Prompt 10: Death/Remembrance🌹

He first saw her in the hospital, coming out of someone's room. His aunt was in the room with his grandmother, talking about something personal he wasn't privvy to. Ever since they'd arrived, dread had hung heavy over his head.

Until it was replaced by the surprise of seeing her.

Sheathed in red with a scythe twice her size. She was petit, her skin pale enough that it could be mistaken for bone at a distance.

"Excuse me?"

The girl made a noise that could only be described as adorable as her weapon clattered to the ground, though no-one around seemed to take notice. The girl clapped a pair of eyes the color of mercury onto him, astonishment written on her face.

"You saw me?" she asked more than said.

Oscar nodded.

"Why... wouldn't I?"

He felt his cheeks darken from the scrutiny the girl was giving him, the heavy sound of her boots on the linoleum tile as she came into his personal space. She squinted, gaze flitting across his face as if she was counting every freckle and blemish on it.

"You're not dying or dead," she finally stated.

"My last doctor's appointment went really well," said Oscar.

The girl shook her head.

"I don't get it."

"Don't get what?"

The girl waved her hands at him.

"This! You shouldn't see me! The living shouldn't see me!"

Oscar's eyebrow rose.

"You're a ghost?"

The girl snorted

"No. I'm death.. well, death-in-training. I'm supposed to take souls of the departed to the land of the dead..."

Watching her babble (cutely) Oscar couldn't help the idea that wormed it's way into his head.

"Could I ask you a favor?"

The girl frowned.

"That's... not really my job..."

"Please... my grandmother... we're here to visit her. The doctor's say that she probably doesn't have a long time and she's in a lot of pain..."

The girl cocked her head to the side in curiosity.

"Who's your grandmother?"

"Esmeralda Pine."

"Right. Leukemia. I remember now."

Oscar nodded.

"Could you make sure that... that she goes peacefully?"

For a while, the girl said nothing, just standing across from him while doctors and nurses passed them, paying no heed to the boy talking to an invisible girl. Finally, the girl in red spoke.

"I'll see what I can do."

The pressure that had been in Oscar's heart since the announcement of his grandmother's illness drained and he smiled at the girl.

"Thank you so much, miss."

The girl smiled back.

"By the way," she said, "my name is Ruby."

Love at first Sight. You never really believed in it. You always thought that Things like that only happened in cheesy and unrealistic Romance Movies ... until one Day you stepped into that one Bus and saw him. A Boy with white Hair, broad Shoulders, a beautiful smile,  and the most beautiful light Brown Eyes. He looked like one of those Paintings you'd see in an Art Museum ... but he was real.

He was listening to Music when your Eyes met for a brief Second , and you were wondering what Music he was listening to. He was mainly looking out of the Window, and the Sunlight made his Eyes look even more beautiful. You wanted to learn everything about him. You've never seen him before ... he must've been new, you thought as you stared at him from afar . And you felt absolutely pathetic when you started trying to find him on Instagram as soon as you got home. You even started talking about him to your Friends , but even your Friends have never seen him before. You went to Bed hoping to see him again the next Day. But you didn't. He wasn't there. And to be honest, it made you sad. Even though you've never even talked to him before, and you didn't even know his Name, you wondered where he was.

It's been a Day since you've last seen him and you already kind of missed him. You felt so stupid about that. Because how could you miss someone you didn't even know ? . Every Time you went on that Bus, you started searching for him unintentionally. You wanted to see him again. But again, there was so Sight of him. Plus you were Tired, since you didn't get enough Sleep that Night. You rested your Head against the Glass next to you, and decided to close your Eyes for a bit. Until, you suddenly heard a Voice speaking up next to you. ,,Uhm.. Excuse me ? May I ask you something ?'' The Person said after gently tapping your Shoulder to get your Attention. You quickly opened your Eyes to look at the Person as you yawned softly.

And when your Eyes met his, your Heart jumped. You looked at him with slightly widened Eyes, which made him look at you in Confusion but that was kind of the last Thing you cared about in that Moment.  ,,U- Uhm sure ... how can I help you ?'' You stuttered out, as he tried not to laugh at your nervous Gaze. ,,I'm not sure If i'm on the right Bus right now. Can you tell me where this Bus is headed to?'' He politely asked you, as he sat down next to you so he wouldn't fall. You softly cleared your throat out of nervousness. He was right next to you, and he was even more gorgeous from up close. ,,This is Bus Number 8. We're about to reach the Rosegarden Street.'' The Boy in front of you smiled softly. ,,Okay great, I'm in the right one. Thank you so much. Is it okay if I stay here until I have to leave ?'' He asked, before putting one of his Earphones back into his Ear. ,,Totally ! , Please do.'' You answered with no Hesitation. The Boy passed you a thankful smile, before he lazily started skipping through his Playlist.

You wanted to start a Conversation so badly, but you were way too shy. You wanted to know what Music he liked, but most especially what his Name was. ,,Can I ask you something?'' You finally had the Courage to talk. ,,Sure, go ahead.'' He looked directly at you as he answered, making your Heart skip a Beat. ,,You don't have to answer if you're uncomfortable..but may I ask you what your Name is?''.  A soft Grin appeared on his Face. He was so goddamn beautiful. ,,It's Sunoo !  What's yours ?.'' Cute. You finally knew his Name. ,,My Name is Y/N !'' You gently smiled at him, as you fiddled with your Hands. ,,That's a pretty Name ! Well ... I have to leave now. It was nice to meet you ! I'll see you around, Y/N.'' Your Heart fluttered at his little Compliment. ,,Thank you, Sunoo. See you. '' A smile crept up his Face as he threw his Backpack over his Shoulder before he eventually left the Bus.

When you finally came back home, you immediately tried to find him on Social Media again. You thought it would be easier since you finally knew his Name now. And you were right. You felt like a Creep as you went through his Instagram Pictures. And you couldn't help but smile at them. He posted a lot of Pictures of him smiling, and some other Pictures of him chilling with his Friends. His Feed looked adorable. And after some more Minutes of literally stalking him and going through some more Pictures, you decided to Text him.

That was the best decision you've ever made. Because ever since you quite literally slid into his DMs, you talked every single Day. He always sat down next to you in the Bus, and you even started hanging out at either his Place, or your Place. You eventually became very close Friends and spent every Day together. But there's one Day, you'll never forget in your whole Life. You went on a Road Trip with your Friend Group, as your Friends decided to do a Picnic by a very pretty Lake you found earlier , while You and Sunoo decided to stay in the Car to watch the Sunset while listening to some Lana del Rey Songs. Once again, the beautiful colors of the Sunset illuminated his Face beautifully .

The Atmosphere was amazing. You just enjoyed each other's Presence in comfortable Silence as soft Music was playing in the Background. And all of a sudden, you felt Sunoo's Hand softly touching yours. You immediately looked down to your Hands, before gently intertwining them. You shyly smiled at each other, as Sunoo started caressing your smooth Hand with his Thumb. ,,I know i'm probably asking way too many Questions but... may I ask you something?'' You giggled at Sunoo's Words. ,,Sure'' Sunoo smiled before looking down at your intertwined Hands again. ,,What was your first Impression of me?'' You chuckled, as you tried not to turn Red since you clearly remembered what you were thinking when you first saw him. ,,Well ... This is embarrassing. Would you believe me if I told you that you made me believe in Love at first Sight ? Like...I saw you and I immediately knew that I liked you.'' You mumbled, as you felt Sunoo stare at you with a smirk.

,, Are you trying to tell me, that you immediately fell in love with me when you first saw me?'' Sunoo giggled at your reddened Cheeks. You felt way too shy to answer at that Point. ,,I don't know ... stop smiling at me like that.'' You murmured, before Sunoo gently brushed a Strand of Hair behind your Ear. He chuckled. ,,When I first saw you the first Thing I noticed was how beautiful you are. Do you actually know how pretty you are, Y/N ?.'' At this Point you thought he only wanted to tease you. ,,Stop playing with my Feelings, Sun.'' You turned your Head to look at him. He had a small Pout on his Lips. ,,You're precious.'' He whispered quietly, but loud enough for you to hear.

You felt his Hand hesitantly cup your Cheek, before gently stroking his Thumb over your soft Skin. A hundred Butterflies exploded in your Stomach. ,,I mean it. You're beautiful, Y/N.'' And only a Second later, you felt him pulling you into a soft, but desperate Kiss. The Kiss lasted a few Minutes, as he kissed you nice and slow. Your Hands found his Cheeks, as you tried to pull him even closer. And before you knew it, he carefully pulled you onto his Lap before adjusting his Seat right so your little Make Out Session would be a bit more comfortable.

Kissing him is something you've always wanted to do. You've always wondered how his Plump, Rosy Lips would feel on yours. And they felt more than amazing. You wanted to stay in that Moment forever. You ran your Hands through his silky Hair, as you placed one last long Kiss on his Lips before eventually pulling away. ,,I've been waiting all my life for you'' Sunoo mouthed, as he caressed your Cheekbone. ,,Would you believe me If I told you that I'm in love with you ?.'' Did he really just say that ? You thought you were dreaming. You looked at Sunoo in Shock. ,,Please tell me you're not joking before I tell you that I fell in love with you too.'' Sunoo giggled at your cuteness. ,,I love you, Y/N. I'm serious. I've loved you ever since I sat down next to you on that Bus.When i told you my Name, I was hoping you would find me somewhere. And you did. And now I can't imagine a Life without you anymore. Life is just so much better when I'm with you.'' You rested your Forehead against his, making your Noses touch softly as you both closed your Eyes. You could feel his hot breath against your Lips, as you softly smiled at the Feeling. ,,Kiss me again, and I'll be yours.''

Here's a fun request based off some old discussions I had with friends about Emerald City + Rosegarden. How about Emerald just being the akward third wheel to Rosegarden? So Ruby and Oscar could be having a moment but Emerald interupts it by opening a soda can.

“Excuse me!?”.

“Emerald, pause the game, Ruby’s on the phone”.

She did pause the game, made a big show of it just to announce how pissed off she was that she even had to do it.

She muttered something about bros before hoes and Oscar didn’t even have time to blush before Ruby was chattering away at him.

“Oscar! It’s been so long, how are things with you guys? How’s your aunt? How’s Emerald? Shit! How are you?”.

He chuckled at the speed of her speech and waited a few seconds for his brain to catch up.

“Emerald is going great Ruby! She just loves listening to you two stammer your way through a conversation”. Oscar flipped her off and heard Ruby mutter something on the other end of the line, “what was that?”, he asked, still giving Emerald the finger.

“Yang wanted me to say that she’s happy someone else understands her pain”.

“Geez, we’re not that bad are we?”.

Ruby snickered into the receiver and the endearing crackling of it made his heart skip a beat or two.

“According to our older sisters, we sure are!”.

“What’re we gonna do!?”, he mocked, making a face at Emerald.

“Kill yourself”, Emerald muttered at the exact same time Ruby exclaimed, “get new sisters!”.

“Sounds like a plan!”.

“I am not going to just sit here and listen to the two of you slander my good name!”, Emerald threw her hands up in exasperation.

“Then leave”, both he and Ruby said in unison, earning him a sweet laugh from Ruby and a groan from Emerald.

“You and Mercury are just as bad, at least Ruby’s not living with me! In the house my most generous friend Oscar invited me and only me to!”.

“We don’t come separately! You knew this!”.

“Looks like you bought one and got one free”, Ruby chirped from the phone that he had forgotten he was holding, he grinned guiltily, even though she couldn’t exactly see him, and scolded himself for letting Emerald distract him from his goal. Which was to talk to Ruby.

“Hey Em, you wanna go elsewhere?”, he asked sweetly.

“Else-where?”.

“As in, somewhere else! That isn’t here!”.

“Fine, you’ve just made this room lame anyway”.

He waited until he heard her footsteps enter the hallway before returning to the matter at hand.

“Sorry about that”, he grimaced.

“Don’t apologise, not our fault our sisters don’t have lives and exist only to annoy us”.

“Yeah, but I’ve dedicated my life to getting her back for being annoying so it’s really such a vicious cycle”.

“Same, yesterday Blake was over and they were being so disgusting right in front of my salad, so I sprayed her with water”.

Oscar barked a laugh at the unexpected action.

“No it’s not even funny, I shouldn’t even be telling you”.

“Tell me!”. He demanded instantly.

“Only ‘cause your cute”.

“You can’t even see me”.

“I just have a feeling, am I wrong?”.

He huffed and tried to physically stop smiling (he couldn’t).

“Well, Mercury said I looked like a Boy Scout this morning, so I’m unsure”.

“You do, but in a cute way”.

“I hate that guy”, Oscar grumbled.

“That’s just ‘cause he’s dating your sister”.

“They’re not dating and she’s not my sister”.

He could hear her scoff through the phone, “be for real, she lives with you and calls you lil bro”.

“She actually calls me shithead, I’m only little bro in front of her beloved aunt may”.

Ruby laughed a little too hard at that, it made the phone crackle like a campfire which in turn made Oscar think of all the campfires they used to build in the war, which made him sigh with nostalgia.

“What’s wrong?”.

“Just thinking about how I miss when we were still at war, like a total dick”.

She sighed too, it was exactly like his.

“No, I know what you mean. I miss the camping and the whole… togetherness of it all”.

A moment of silence and then…

“I- I miss you”.

He sighed like it was the one thing he didn’t know he had been waiting to hear. “Yeah”, he let the words fall out of him, filter-less, “I miss you too, a lot”.

A companionable silence stretched the moment out, not unlike their many comfortable quietly moments they’d had during the war. The moments of peace, the calm before the storm.

“What? Dad cmon! Dad, it’s Oscar”, he could hear bits and pieces of some conversation taking place between Ruby and her father and subconsciously straightened his posture.

“Oscar, I’m really sorry, dad needs the phone for work. Can I call you later tonight or-“.

He heard Ruby’s dad say something like ‘not at night!’.

“-or Tomorrow morning?”.

“Tomorrow morning sounds great!”, like hell he was gonna complain about he dads rules in front of her dad.

“Okay- I’m really sorry I have to go! Bye Osca-“, she cut off, the familiar click of being hung up on rung through the silent room.

Oscar sighed, then rearranged his face so to look not totally let down. “Em!”, he called out, “we can unpause the game now!”.

“Awww Oscar”.

He jumped completely into the air, nearly screaming at how silently she’d came into the room. Picking up on his confusion, Emerald shrugged guiltily.

“I’ve been here the whole time”, and then, more seriously, “please don’t be mad at me”.

“I’m not”, he sighed. Because he really should’ve expected nothing less, it was just the dissatisfactory way he’d ended his conversation with Ruby.

“What’s wrong dude?”.

“I don’t know, nothing”.

“Okay, want me to reset the game while you mope?”. He nodded and slumped onto the couch and threw his scroll to the other side of it. Emerald pressed a few buttons and slumped right beside him.

“You wanna know something?”.

“No”.

“I’m gonna tell you anyway even though Yangs gonna fucking kill me. So like, avenge me”.

“Fine”.

“Ruby is constantly begging to use the phone. She’s even trying to get their dad to order her some fancy one from god knows where that has great storage, you know, for those long distance calls”.

He shot up from his sulking position, making hard eye contact with Emerald, “where did you hear this?”.

“Yang, duh”.

“Since when do you and Yang talk? I thought she hated you”.

“She hates Mercury, which is his business. Can you blame her for falling for my charms? Also we both have gross siblings who have gross crushes on each-other, so there’s that”.

“Be honest, why were you talking?”.

Emerald let out a long, suffering sigh, “she threatened to beat you up if you hurt Ruby, I threatened to beat Ruby and her and their little dog up if they hurt you”.

He gasped, “not Zwei!”.

Emerald stuck her fist in the air, “yes Zwei! That’s how much I love you, I’ll destroy a poor doggy”.

“I love you too”, he moved closer to her, grabbing his console and refusing to show her his own stupid grin.

Jaune: The only girl I seem to have a relationship with is Yang. And it's not even a romantic one, its playful and sisterly. I mean have you seen her with Blake.

Oscar: True. Wait what about Nora?

Jaune: Teammate. A bit of a sister. Nothing less. Nothing more.

Oscar: Wow. That's low.

Jaune: Now, you are better than me but guess what that ain't much. Like what have you done? What sacrifices have you made? What are your reasons?

Oscar: Um I told James the truth about Salem. I saved everyone at Heaven. I helped in the battle with Cordovan. I saved everyone from Salem.

Jaune: Okay. Ironwood shot you. Cordovan was insane and did not deserve to live or have a job after her recklessness. Plus, Ruby stopped her. You were on a plane. And Ozpin helped more than you in Heaven. And if Hazel didn't buy you any time you would have died. In fact, Hazel is the reason you’re alive.

Me: And the reason your journey started.

Oscar: Well I persuaded him to join the good side.

Jaune: Really, how so?

Oscar: By telling him how to use the lamp. Then he freed me and made me do it myself.

Jaune: So, Hazel just let you go because he didn't believe you?

Oscar: Yep.

Jaune: So, if Hazel called Jinn's name and she appeared, what would have happened then? Like would Hazel have freed you then? Or would he had killed you and just let that be the end?

Oscar: ...

Jaune: So Hazel just showed you pity or you guilt tripped him into helping.

Oscar: I helped with James.

Jaune: Who we jumped.

Oscar: The evacuation.

Jaune: The worse plan we ever made.

Oscar: Oh man.

Jaune: Now, I need to say this, STOP being random. Like first you suck for some reason then you start being cool. Like what the hell?! Oscar, I don't know why I should be wasting my time trying to help you, let alone worry about you if you're somehow going to prove how irrelevant that is. Like I could've been helping Mantle instead of helping you. I could've been trying to talk to James instead of helping you. But no, you're my friend so of course I'll help you.

Oscar: But I'm your partner.

Jaune: No. No you are not. I'm the healer. I'm everybody’s partner.

Me: Basically the brother or the father of the group. No, wait a minute, maybe the mother? Still.

Jaune: Now, for your reason. Why are you here? What is your personal goal?

Oscar: To finish this. This fight with Salem needs to stop. I need to stop the cycle of reincarnation.

Me: Bra, that has nothing to do with you reincarnating. Ozma's mission. Remember?

Oscar: Oh.

Jaune: Basically, until the gods show up and we pass, you have no choices here so... you're here because Ozpin and I fucked up. Mostly me.

Oscar: Oh my brothers.

Jaune: Yeah. Now, listen. Ruby has been going through it. Ask her out. Trust me, you'll be making her day. Believe me. Please, enjoy what little life you might have left because in all honesty you barely have one. Considering your just a mini version of everything I was supposed to be.

Oscar: I'm sorry what?

Jaune: Later. *leaves*

Oscar: Um RatchetMath.

Me: What?

Oscar: Do you hate me?

Me: Yes and no.

Oscar: Why?!

Me: Oscar, I’m not going to lie but in all honesty you should not exist.

Oscar: …

Me: Like I’m not going to cap. You’re just Jaune but with everything else.

Oscar: How?

Me: How? Bra, let me tell you something, have you ever notice how you and Jaune are similar? Like coming into a field with no experience whatsoever. You were getting bullied by others. You were in need a pip talk.

Oscar: But I’m black.

Me: Bra, I’m light skin and I don’t even care for you. I’m fine with black representation but I prefer Ilia over you.

Oscar: What why?

Me: Bra Ilia is black. From a poor neighborhood. Her parents worked in low paying jobs. Her parents are dead. She literally went and lived in Atlas, so she has more awareness of what’s going on there. Plus, team RWBY has one faunus and team JNPR doesn’t. Especially if the said faunus is rich and has some nobility.

Oscar: Shit.

Me: And to be honest Jaune looked like Ozpin. He even looked like Ozma. Other than that if Jaune was Ozpin reincarnation then everything would be some levels the same. Hazel hates Ozpin so will Jaune because what Ozpin has done so far. He sees Ozpin’s life and he would have been even more furious cause none the events needed to happen if Ozpin- no Ozma wasn’t trying to get laid like many so-called heroes. He gets out-casted like he was back at Beacon except Pyrrha’s gone. See where I’m going with this?

Oscar: Yeah.

Me: So, in all honesty Oscar you are just black Jaune Arc. You are just a mere shadow of Jaune’s character. Hint to why I like you. And you know what it’s our fault because we didn’t want Jaune to overshadow Ruby. Even though the sad truth is everyone overshadows Ruby. Plus, our writers refuse to give him a purpose or a character.

1. “Toxic Eye” - Choir Boy

I found Choir Boy sometime last year, and maybe it’s the YouTube algorithms that keep giving me the music video for “Toxic Eye” again and again, but I can’t help but get this one stuck in my head. The “ba da daa, ba da daa da daaaa”’s are so delightful, and the atmosphere of a Choir Boy song is just so cozy.

2. “Napoleon” - Riki

Similar to Choir Boy its catchiness (“woah-oh oh, Napoleon”), just some simple synthpop goodness that makes you wanna dance.

3. “Mirror’s Image” - Rosegarden Funeral Party

RFP is a group I only found earlier this year, but I’ve fallen in love with their brand of Siouxsie-inspired goth rock. Their videos are aesthetically pleasing, and their songs have some gorgeous emotional vocals. I could have also went with “Gates of Heaven” or “Martyr” here, but “Mirror’s Image” just especially resonates with me.

4. PUP - “Full Blown Meltdown”

A friend of mine got me to listen to PUP a few months ago, and I especially enjoyed the Morbid Stuff album. This song in particular has a ton of energy, but I have to share it for another reason too…I’m pretty sure there’s a reference to AFI’s “The Great Disappointment” in it??? Listen to the guitar at 1:26 and tell me that’s not a reference to the part in TGD that goes “inside a crumbling effigy, but you promised”???!??

5. “Secrets (Your Fire)” - Magdalena Bay

Magdalena Bay’s Mercurial World album is fantastic and has some great tracks, but this one gets me even more because of its sublime music video. It’s like all of the old tech cheesy-ness that I love about Blaqk Audio’s “Anointed” video, but with late 90’s Internet aesthetics. It’s so much fun and such a visual treat.

...So...about that Rosegarden hug...

Yes. Here I am once again discussing this topic. But bear with me please since I just had an interesting thought. 

Ruby has been the one to initiate and selflessly dish out hugs to her comrades for this season so far. However, when you think about it, despite her own emotional issues and qualms, no one has really offered Ruby a hug.

The most she’s received is a comforting shoulder touch from Weiss and some very kind words from Blake. But beyond that, no hugs initiated by someone else to be given to Ruby. At least; not yet?

Keeping this thought in mind, it’s made me get over a bit of my earlier disappointment with the Rosegarden reunion hug being interrupted.  While I definitely wanted Ruby to give Oscar a hug after everything he’s been through for this season, after more thought, I actually think what would be leagues better if we got to see Oscar give Ruby a hug instead.

I think Oscar hugging Ruby would be more impactful. 

Ruby is constantly showing her support for everyone and what made her bond with Oscar so unique was that, despite only knowing her for a short space of time, Oscar understood the burden of responsibility that’s been imposed on Ruby as the leader of the heroes despite her young age.

“…This must be really hard on her too…”

In previous seasons, as much as we’ve seen Ruby support Oscar (as she does with all of her friends and loved ones), we’ve also seen Oscar reciprocate that care and step up to be a pillar of support for Ruby too; particularly during moments of emotional distress when no one else would.

 What’s additionally noteworthy is that I’ve acknowledged in previous seasons that Oscar isn’t usually the type to initiate physical contact. As a matter of fact, whenever he’s anxious or too distraught about something, he seems to refuse to be touched all together. He seems more comfortable reaching out to others with his words but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t accept a hug from someone if they offered him one---as we saw in the cases of Jaune and Nora.

This is what made his willingness to open his arms to welcome Ruby to hug him stick out to me. 

As I’ve pointed out in previous remarks, this isn’t something that I’ve seen Oscar do with anyone else. He’s only done this for Ruby so far. So while the Rosegarden hug didn’t happen, that doesn’t stop this interaction between them from being all the more interesting to my eyes.

If Oscar does end up being the one to initiate a hug between himself and Ruby, it would certainly mean something. I’m not saying this will be a key sign of Rosegarden becoming canon or endgame or anything like that. I’m more implying that I stand by my point that an interaction like this between our two smaller more honest souls would definitely be significant. Unique to them and only their bond with each other.

So…yeah, forget Ruby hugging Oscar. Show me Oscar hugging Ruby, please and thank you very much. 

If Oscar hugged Ruby, like I said, I feel it’ll be way more meaningful for their budding friendship and growing close bond. At least in my opinion.

So I've just recently been hooked in Little Nightmares series. I discovered it while wondering in YouTube and then I saw Mono and Six! They're beautiful characters in this oh so beautiful lore. I strongly believe that this is Tarsier Studio's masterpiece. Anyone who also knows and interested about the lore of the game? 🥰😍👫

PS: I did not played the game, instead I watched speedruns but also a bunch of fan theories and I just can't have enough of it! It's so fun and it has a very awesome fandom!

I think it has been more than 1 year now or 2? It was the moment when I was just scrolling in Tumblr looking for my fave cartoon ships like Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Star vs the Forces of Evil (shooocks I missed those!) AND THEN I SAW RUBY AND OSCAR! Shocks. Believe me or not, it's a Love at First Sight! When I saw them I immediately became interested in the show, it was around before the release of Volume 7 if I'm not mistaken? And at first I was just searching "Ruby and Oscar" in YouTube until I've known more about the show and theeen, I decided to watch RWBY but the Vol. 7 first and not too long after that, I WATCH THE WHOLE SERIES FROM VOL. 1 and I loved every single episode! I'm just sad about the toxic fans out there very critical about the show. I just want them to appreciate what CRWBY is doing and very wholesome about it but anyways... Yeah! I loved the show most especially because of RoseGarden, and before RG I was really a shipper back then. Since Pokeshipping, heck I don't even knew what 'shipping' was. 😂

I shipped some of the characters too in Steven Universe, SVTFOE, etc.

PS: My favorite moments were of course every single moments of them interacting with each other 😂 but to be more specific and the "MOST" favorite is still their awkward conversation about talking with Ironwood. I really loved that scene and it filled my Rosegarden shipping heart! 🥰❤️💚

About Jaune ships...

I have opinions. You may not agree, but they are mine. They may change in time, but not now.

LANCASTER ( RUBY X JAUNE )

The old tried and true. I mean, what's not to like? Cute girl falls for first guy she meets at Beacon? Classic romance trope, and after reading how much Ruby loves romance stories (I consider certain parts in the manga canon), it makes sense. In fact, after Arkos sank (A moment of silence, please . . . Thank you), many moved to Lancaster, which isn't bad. Happens all the time in fandoms. Sad thing, though, is far I think she'll last. If we're talking Volume 5 or earlier, then maybe. However, I feel if Ruby were to have an endgame in romance, it would be RoseGarden (I have opinions on that as well, but today isn't the day to discuss that), mostly because Oscar bumped Jaune's role from male lead to male side. Not to mention that while Jaune is becoming a beast in his own right, Ruby is a different creature altogether and evolving her character more rapidly and chaotically than anyone else (Must be all that screentime).

TLDR: I want it to be canon, but I might just be hoping.

WHITE KNIGHT ( WEISS X JAUNE)

Doofus in tin foil meets princess who hates daddy (Am I in the romance section of the library? You know, the corner for adults only?) No, but I do like this ship. I'm always a sucker for the fantasy genre, and using a zero to hero male makes it relatable. I also kind of ship it because the same reason I ship NaruSaku in the Naruto fandom: he likes her and he's willing to go the distance. But enough about that; instead let's talk about canon. Will they hook up? It's a soft maybe for me, for two reasons. 1. Rosegarden is most likely to be endgame, and after Ruby and Pyrrha, I'd say Weiss is Jaune's next to be his love interest. 2. Weiss has warmed up to Jaune. Sure, not lover or crush level (Yet), but she's definitely changed her opinion on him. In Volume 1, Jaune was bugging her, like all the time, which I could see as him getting mixed signals on (Exhibit A: Tall, blonde, and scraggly). When Volume 5 came around, everyone jumped onboard because he saved her life (Don't lie, because I'll admit that I did it, too). Not the best reason, but still reason enough, I'd say. Then in Volume 7, she hangs out with him and Oscar to the movies (It was either that or awkward Bumbleby all night. I feel ya, sister). Nothing romantic happens, but it does show how much their relationship has developed. If Weiss is Jaune's endgame, then they have set the pieces up perfectly to do so.

TLDR: High likelihood to be canon and I'm a sucker for Knight/Princess ships.

KNIGHTSHADE ( BLAKE X JAUNE)

This is the part where I say definitely not. Not in a million years, but I'll explain why I like the ship, though. As for why it won't work, the answer is Bumbleby. They haven't kissed yet, but you know they're going to eventually (Because if they don't, the fans will attack like a swarm of hornets). But here's the question you might be asking now: why do I ship this? Well, it's part of the allure of "opposites attract" ('Cause I'm dressed like a cat!). Blake is an intelligent, outspoken, and agile ninja with a criminal history of terrorism who spends her free time reading novels. Jaune is a B at best on his tests, soft-hearted, and ground-based knight who's worst crime is fraud (Still a crime, but peanuts compared to literal terrorism) and spends his free time hanging out with his team. Day and night. But they also tried that with Sun for a season and a half and it didn't last (BECAUSE BEES).

TLDR: Not even a snowball's chance in the summer sun, but so much story potential if you do (Which I do)!

DRAGONSLAYER ( YANG X JAUNE )

This, I would say, is the opposite of Knightshade, where Jaune is the day and Blake is night, here Yang is the Sun and Jaune is the Moon (Like their crests! Remember those? Y'know, when they were relevant?) Will it work? Even less so than Knightshade. However, it does open up some interesting paths considering how... provocative Yang can be, and Jaune, compared to the other guys, is the nerdiest, geekiest dude at Beacon. It's like the cheerleader/nerd romance, except the cheerleader is the captain of every sports team... and rides a motorcycle. The Volume 8 preview introduced us to Yang and Jaune riding motorcycles and we went nuts over it. Yang was back in her element, roaring down the street, riding on walls, popping off tricks with Oscar riding- Back to what I was saying, people were asking, "How did he know how to ride a motorcycle?" and the elementary answer is "He didn't." He almost fell off his bike from a small box in the road. True, anyone would, but look at how he reacts: he stiffens, he refocuses on the road. This kid literally started riding at breakfast, and I DARE you to prove me wrong. But hey, great fic material right there, though, eh?

TLDR: Never gonna happen, but I don't care. All I care about is writing that they love each other. And they also fu-!

ARKOS ( PYRRHA X JAUNE )

I'm sorry, I need a moment. . . . Alright. Do it for her. This ship... was perfect. Probably the best ship out them all. I legit almost cry every time I think about Volume 3. Pyrrha was everyone's favorite. Her background, her interactions, her choreography, everything! But, of course, like everything in our lives, she was too good to be true. But let's honor her memory by talking about her ship, Arkos. Pyrrha was the champion of the world, the Brothers' and Oums' gift to Remnant. She could do no wrong and she HATED it. Her plight was with how she was seen. Everybody knew her! Everybody, except Jaune. And he only figured out she was "a big deal" was because Weiss had to spell it out for him! As time went on, they became the best of friends, two peas in a pod, the perfect odd couple! They worked together and trusted each other, they cared for and supported each other, they lo- No. No, I can't say it. It's been years, and it still hurts. So, I'll explain something else: the reason why Jaune SHOULD NOT be shipped right now. That reason is Pyrrha. Jaune was helpless to save her. He's suffering from survivor's guilt and he's still grieving. In Volume 4, he would sneak away and train until late at night to scroll recording of her. In Volume 5, he confronted Cinder and got Weiss almost killed because he let his grief for Pyrrha take control of him and let his emotions run wild. In Volume 6, he finds the Pyrrha statue and he... I don't know how to say this, but he let's go. He accepts that Pyrrha is gone and he's starting the healing process. He's finally ready to move forward.

TLDR: T.T I never felt that it was wise to wish too much~

MARTIAL ARCS ( REN X JAUNE)

I'll be honest, I don't really ship it. Yeah, it's cute, and it falls perfectly into the "if I had to pick a guy" part of me, but to be honest, I don't ship it. 10% because Renora and 90% it just doesn't click with me. They both just seem too soft, too quiet, too introverted. Best friends? Yes, definitely! But lovers? Eeeeeh, not really.

TLDR: I will only ship as neccessary.

NORA'S ARC ( NORA X JAUNE )

I've only just got in this deep with the fandom only recently, so I don't know if a lot of you know me. Heck, I'm probably just some RWBY fan you happen to spot as you move through your dash. However, old or new, I want to be made absolutely positively clear on this. Of all the ships here, this has got to be my-

O T FUDGIN' P

Wow! Never thought I'd feel so strongly about a crack ship like this. And yes, as sad it is to say, this is a crack ship. Renora was planned from day one, so it can't be helped. At least it didn't blast me in the face all of the sudden (OH NO, NOT THE BEES! AAAAARGH! THEY'RE IN MY EYES!). But why this ship? Well, for one thing, it's that whole opposites attract thing with Nora as the bubbly, outspoken, airhead powerhouse and Jaune as the soft spoken, introverted, nerd tactician. But wait, there's more to this trope, because it can go deeper: Order VS Chaos! Who makes all the messes? Who cleans up those messes? Who follows all the rules? Who makes their own doors? It's just. So. Damn! GOOD! One sad thing about this ship though is that it's not only not canon because of Renora, it's anti-canon because Renora. Every fan fic of Nora's Arc requires an explanation for Ren and Nora to not be together-together, like you have to write a formal apology to the FNDM for liking something that's different from what is canon or commonly accepted. If that's the case, then I'll be the anarchist here!

TLDR: I LOVE IT! What's that? Not canon? Who gives a damn?! I just explained why Jaune won't be shipped anyways! Now, if you'll excuse, I have some fan fics to find.

ARCFALL ( CINDER X JAUNE )

Oh, here it goes! Now, if we're talking ships that'll never happen, this is where we find better reasons than "it's not canon" and "character development". No, this... This is a declaration of war. Allow me to explain. Cinder Fall is evil. Like, down to her core. She wants power and she'll cut through anyone to get to it. Including Pyrrha. This woman sank Arkos by means other than "X and Y kissed, so..." She killed X, leaving Y alone. And her interactions with Jaune tell me she wouldn't even be worth a hate-bang. But, as Momma always, there's a thin line between love and hate. This is where the appeal comes in. Cinder is evil with no past, which leaves the previous chapter's of her life story blank to be filled in. Jaune is good with a troublesome, albeit easy past, but untapped potential for more. It's another opposites attract, but different from INTRO VS EXTRO and CHAOS VS ORDER; this is GOOD VS EVIL. My ship thoughts

This will be a long post, so I’m putting it under a ‘keep reading”

Bumbleby  - Until Vol.4 I wasn’t sure if the Bees liked each other. Like yeah, we’ve had solid evidence since, like, their Vol.1 trailers. But still. I wasn’t sure CRWBY would do it. But wow was I impressed.  - Probably my favorite well-known ship - Their EYES are the colors of each others SOULS what more do you want??? - I wish my gf would throw a motorcycle at my abusive ex...

Nuts and Dolts  - I tried pushing this ship out of my mind for so long. I did. I wasn’t ready for it  - I appreciated the things people made for the ship. I knew it had potential  - But wow. Vol.8 really said “Nuts and Dolts rights” and I respect that - They’re so cute together. It’s like if Pyrrha came back to life and could be with Jaune again.  - But healthier this way (see Arkos)

Renora  - Wholesome - Cute - ‘Boop’ is one of my favorite songs - We all saw it coming. But how we got there was the fun part  - That Vol. 4 finale though...

Arkos  - First off, Arkos is my favorite ship from Vol.1-3 - Himbo is taught how to drink his respect women juice by an Amazon? Sign me up  - The character development, the mutual respect, the CARE - ForeverFall still fucks me up. I cry when I listen to it - I love Pyrrha, she’s my girl, but... She really betrayed Jaune’s trust at the very end. He told her specifically he never wanted to be helpless and watch his friends fight for their lives again. And she did exactly that to him. Making him wonder if he could have made a difference had he been able to fight by her side with her in the end.  - But it’s not really even Pyrrha’s fault. Ozpin’s expectations and Cinder’s plan are more to blame - Still high tier - It’s just so tragic

WhiteKnight  - Cute in theory  - But it’d have to be done so carefully to be a good romantic pairing  - As friends? I LOVE IT. Make these two best friends right now! - But Jaune moved past his feelings for Weiss in Vol.2 when he finally realized she meant it when she told him she didn’t like him  - I’m shocked though that so few people pick up on Ep.3 Vol.1 when Weiss is making fun of Jaune and mockingly calls him a “cute boy”. I think Jaune just thought Weiss liked him already, and went from there. He hits on Pyrrha pretty quick in Ep.4 too - I think it could work with who they are now, but I think they’re better as friends 

WhiteRose  - The sole reason I didn’t ship Nuts and Dolts sooner  - Vol. 6 messed me up okay? That red scarf really threw me for a loop - Chasing each other in the Argus Limited?  - Weiss sassing Ruby non-stop Vol.1-3?  - It also completes the RW BY JP NR pairings. I like to joke that the Emerald forest is actually “true love” forest. And whoever you lock eyes with first you fall in love with them. But that only works sometimes  - Also that part where they call out each others names when Jinn shows them Ozpin’s past 

Ladybug  - Cute and interesting  - I’m not against it. I would just need more of it to ship it myself - They just have such solid connections with other characters  - I do love Blake’s introduction to the main cast though, and how much Blake looks up to Ruby 

Freezerburn  - Similar to LadyBug  - Cute, but I just ship them more with other people  - That hug in Vol.5 was a bit sus though - Yang does seem to open up the most with Weiss - And Weiss defended Yang so quickly after the Mercury fight  - It’s not unfounded, I’ll say that  - Analyzing it has opened my eyes 

Crosshares  - Yes  - Just  - Yes  - High femme fashion ICON Coco Adel  - With fan-fave Velvet Scarlatina - WLW powercouple  - I wish I was Coco and Velvet is cute, not much to understand here, keep scrolling 

RoseGarden  - I have my concerns  - Oscar is a wonderful kid  - He probably has a crush on Ruby  - And he is a wholesome boy who deserves all the happiness  - But he also has a manipulative immortal Wizard in his head  - So - You know

Lancaster  - I never saw Lancaster. Jaune is the first boy Ruby meets. And Jaune calls her cute and quirky once, but... - I love Ruby’s talk with Jaune about failure in Vol. 1, then his return to that speech in Vol. 4 in return.  - I think they lean on each other as leaders - But I don’t see it going further - Cute though. I’ve seen nice fanart 

BlackSun  - I read an analysis a long time ago that really sat with me  - Blake asked for space (not out loud, but in action) when she ran away - Yang gave her what she wanted. She didn’t like it. But she gave Blake what she asked for.  - Sun on the other hand, didn’t. He followed and helped her anyway. (Believe me, Blake could have used all the help she could get in Vol. 4-5) But in doing so, he kinda took himself out of the running as love interest.  - He’s and excellent Foil for Blake though, so I love him

SeaMonkies  - Two bros, chilling in a hot tub... - Is it gay to become junior detectives with your best friend and only hang out with him for like 3 seasons?  - These two are just  - So fucking stupid  - Apart, they are fine. Very competent.  - Together though - They are just so dumb I think its cute as hell 

JNR  - Wholesome  - I could see it in Argus. In front of Pyrrha’s statue - They love each other  - Maybe its not 100% romantic  - But they love each other  - I could be happy here

JNR+Neo  - CRIME + Ren  - The pure chaos of Nora and Neo  - The exhausted mom-friend energy from Ren and Jaune - The power polycule that could take on Salem alone and maybe win? - I think it’d be cute, but I personally ship them in the two pairs a bit more. 

Bees Schnees  - We add Blake and Yang’s angst, Yang and Weiss’ trust, and Weiss and Blake’s mutual understanding and growth  - Wow okay  - I have to give it to you, I kinda like it

Neo x Jaune x Ruby  - Based on my response to Lancaster, you might be able to guess my answer here - I think a lot of the ship’s points lie in “What’s better than one short girl dating the tallest guy in the cast? Two short girls dating the tallest guy in the cast!” - Cute though, I think it’d be chaotic and wholesome  - But poor Jaune would be exhausted trying to make sure the house doesn;t burn down every five minutes 

May x Winter  - Look - If I hadn’t made a Neo x Jaune side blog  - I would have made a May x Winter side blog  - The comparisons  - The family legacies  - The pure amount of how attracted I am to both characters  - What happens when two tops date each other?  - What if they were partners in Atlas?  - What if May was Winter’s first crush. And after May came out, Winter was like “Oh thank the gods, I was worried I liked all women and only one guy for some reason. Cool, crisis adverted. So anyway, Marigold, here’s how you do your makeup” - I could go on - Haha don’t tempt me - I’m serious  - Please let them sass each other at some point

GuardDogs  - Marrow = Just doing his best  - Jaune = Just doing his best  - Marrow and Jaune = two himbos just vibing in this world  - If we don’t get Silentknight, I’d be proud to get GuardDogs - Marrow sure has been worried about “Juan” this whole time, huh?

Emercury  - The sass - The pure sass  - Mercury’s unearned confidence paired with Emerald’s quick temper  - Wow, I hope Em can turn him away from murdering people.  - If Em gets 1 friend, I hope its Mercury and not Cinder  - At least Mercury cares about her (But he’s too cool to admit that outright) - Mercury is going to see Em on RWBY’s team and just immediately walk over and join up. No questions asked. “I guess we’re good now. Sorry Tyrian, its been cool, not really”

Happy Huntresses - Yes - Look at that HUG - Ladies, is it gay to go off into the tundra and form a rebellion against the fascist government with three of your hottest gal pals?
