So v9 happened and my disappointment is immeasurable

I think I did pretty well! The first one I made after chapter 1 for the total volume, the second I made during the hiatus for part 2. Yellow is for ones I’m not sure whether I should stamp 

Silver eyes fail is yellow because they DID technically fail to kill the Hound, and failed to activate in time with Cinder, but I meant that they fail because of Ruby’s internal conflict, not some presented-as-uncontrollable outside force (clown makeup)

Heroes face consequences is yellow because it REALLY depends on how they present it in Volume 9. They DID face major consequences, but will the show see it that way or redirect the blame? Will they see that making Penny a ‘’’’’’’’’’’human’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’ body is what led to her death, or address Jaune’s decision as more complex than “you did what you had to” (bc it IS more complex and I actually like that)? Will they realize that they chose to let an ENTIRE CONTINENT be destroyed, causing thousands of homeless refugees, when they could have potentially fought to save it once the whale was no longer creating an infinite source of grimm? Or will all of this be chalked up to “we had no other options” again? (Note: please never have a character say that again, it takes away all agency and meaning to their choices, which is what makes a character a character)

More about Summer Rose is yellow because Yang mentioning her and Salem saying “Her again?” plus Ruby saying “That’s what happened to mom”– oh maybe that should be green actually.

The Merge progresses/finalizes is yellow because while it is clear that they’ve both been merging and that the use of magic accelerated it, it was all in the background, no addressing it aside from “btw audience we’re still merging” and showing them look/sound more like each other. And tbh I expected it to finalize.

I love how Ozpin (literally an immortal locked in eternal conflict over the fate of the world) tells Ruby this when she's panicking on the first day of classes whether he made the right decision in naming her team leader at high school. It's like Ozpin, as a teacher, is respecting Ruby's concerns and treating them as seriously as she does herself... but at the same time, there's just a hint of irony in the deadpan delivery :D Yes, sweet summer's child, being the captain of your club is Very Difficult and Scary, now let me finish my coffee and go back to seeing if there'll be an apocalypse this generation or not.
