My favorite thing about the Deadpool and Wolverine movie is that EVERYONE has a distinct voice filled with personality and their history.
Not just Gambit, everyone
Gambits might be the “most obvious” or most talked about, but GOD I LOVE ALL THE DIFFERENT DIALECTS AND SLANG. AND SHIT IN THIS MOVIE
THINK OF HOW BLADE SPEAKS COMPARED TO WADE COMPARED TO LAURA COMPARED TO CASSANDRA AND AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
There are so many different cultures, histories, and personal stories/explanations packed in to everyone’s voices.

best day of my life was when vimms lair let other regional versions of games be on the site u have no idea how happy i was. like yes finally i dont have to send people digging through a huge archive.org dump of DS games so they can play professor layton & not suffer thru lukes american dub voice 😭
#like me personally i dont care if i have to jump through hoops to download something so that wasnt even an inconvenience for me#if anything i loooove having to work harder to find a download for something it feels more rewarding <- has 2 much free time 2 spend online#but sadly the average person does not enjoy internet sleuthing or file conversion or downloading & installing torrent progeams or whatever#like they just want a ddl. which is absolutely fair like me too for a lotta stuff! but that means theyd go to vimms lair to download it#& just download the NA release 😔 like i think 99% of people do not care about this but i need you to go look up a comparison#of luke triton's NA english dub vs. his EU english dub. if you played the american ones just think about how he sounds in the movie#but like oh my god. im so grateful i lived in england when i got into layton cause that meant it was way easier to get UK copies of thegames#like i ended up getting a european 3ds while i lived there to play the 3ds games & it was so worth it. i Dont like american dub luke triton#HES NOT EVEN AMERICAN IN THE DUB he just has a fake british accent and it does Not sound good especially when i heard the (superior) dub 1st#like i need to stress the american dub isnt even that bad. its not speedwagon dub bad.#<- my mom compared speedys voice to dick van dyke in mary poppins which is honestly an insult to dick van dyke in mary poppins#like its objectively a terrible accent. but he makes it work. The jojos part 1 dub cast for 99% of the time... does not. 😭#ITS NOT EVEN BAD ACTING ITS THE ACCENTS. THEYRE AWFUL. i need you to know jonathan's VA also voices nero dmc and adachi persona4. like#hes obviously a talented voice actor!!!! But why cant you just hire a british person to do this#or like. at least an american who can actually do a good english accent 😭#like jojos makes it work... sometimes. i think its better in part 2 because theres like a variety of different accents and they all suck#like somehow that works in its favor. but knowing jonathan is one of the better ones in part 1 is 😭#dio is probably my fave of the english cast because well the bar is on the floor. but hes as dramatic as he should be#which definitely helps#i forgotwhat i was talking about. ummmmm. idk#in conclusion if you ask me sub or dub id have to say it depends. ''depends on what'' well what it depends on... depends!#<- only guy who writes conclusions to his fucking tumblr tags like its an essay or something#muffin mumbles

Sebastian Stan Tells All: Becoming Donald Trump, Gaining 15 Pounds and Starring in 2024’s Most Controversial Movie
By Daniel D'Addario
Sebastian Stan Variety Cover Story
Tumblr media
It started with the most famous voice on the planet, the one that just won’t shut up.
Sebastian Stan, in real life, sounds very little like Donald Trump, whom he’s playing in the new film “The Apprentice.” Sure, they share a tristate accent — Stan has lived in the city for years and attended Rutgers University before launching his career — but he speaks with none of Trump’s emphasis on his own greatness. Trump dwells, Stan skitters. Trump attempts to draw topics together over lengthy stem-winders (what he recently called “the weave”), while Stan has a certain unwillingness to be pinned down, a desire to keep moving. It takes some coaxing to bring Stan, a man with the upright bearing and square jaw of a matinee idol, to speak about his own process — how hard he worked to conjure a sense Trump, and how he sought to bring out new insights about America’s most scrutinized politician.
“I think he’s a lot smarter than people want to say about him,” Stan says, “because he repeats things consistently, and he’s given you a brand.” Stan would know: He watched videos of Trump on a loop while preparing for “The Apprentice.” In the film, out on Oct. 11, Stan plays Trump as he moves from insecure, aspiring real estate developer to still insecure but established member of the New York celebrity firmament.
Tumblr media
We’re sitting over coffee in Manhattan. Stan is dressed down in a black chore coat and black tee, yet he’s anything but a casual conversation partner. He rarely breaks eye contact, doing so only on the occasions when he has something he wants to show me on his iPhone (cracked screen, no case). In this instance, it’s folders of photos and videos labeled “DT” and “DT PHYSICALITY.”
“I had 130 videos on his physicality on my phone,” Stan says. “And 562 videos that I had pulled with pictures from different time periods — from the ’70s all the way to today — so I could pull out his speech patterns and try to improvise like him.” Stan, deep in character, would ad-lib entire scenes at director Ali Abbasi’s urging, drawing on the details he’d learned from watching Trump and reading interviews to understand precisely how to react in each moment.
“Ali could come in on the second take and say, ‘Why don’t you talk a little bit about the taxes and how you don’t want to pay?’ So I had to know what charities they were going to in 1983. Every night I would go home and try not only to prepare for the day that was coming, but also to prepare for where Ali was going to take this.”
Looking at Stan’s phone, among the endless pictures of Trump, I glimpse thumbnails of Stan’s own face perched in a Trumpian pout and videos of the actor’s preparation just aching to be clicked — or to be stored in the Trump Presidential Library when this is all over in a few months, or in 2029, or beyond.
“I started to realize that I needed to start speaking with my lips in a different way,” Stan says. “A lot of that came from the consonants. If I’m talking, I’m moving forward.” On film, Stan shapes his mouth like he can’t wait to get the plosives out, puckering without quite tipping into parody. “The consonants naturally forced your lips forward.”
“If he did 10% more of what he did, it would become ‘Saturday Night Live,’” Abbasi says. “If he did 10% less, then he’s not conjuring that person. But here’s the thing about Sebastian: He’s very inspired by reality, by research. And that’s also the way I work; if you want to go to strange places, you need to get your baseline reality covered very well.”
A little later, Stan passes me the phone again to show me a selfie of him posing shirtless and revealing two sagging pecs and a bit of a gut. He’s pouting into a mirror. If his expression looks exaggerated, consider that he was in Marvel-movie shape before stepping into the role of the former president; the body transformation happened rapidly and jarringly. Trump’s size is a part of the film’s plot — as Trump’s sense of self inflates, so does he. In a rush to meet the shooting deadline for “The Apprentice,” Abbasi asked Stan, “How much weight can you gain?”
“You’d be surprised,” Stan tells me. “You can gain a lot of weight in two months.” (Fifteen pounds, to be exact.)
Now he’s back in fighting form, but the character has stayed with him. After years of playing second-fiddle agents of chaos — goofball husbands to Margot Robbie’s and Lily James’ characters in “I, Tonya” and Hulu’s “Pam & Tommy,” surly frenemy to Chris Evans’ Captain America in the Marvel franchise — Stan plunged into the id of the man whose appetites have reshaped our world. He had to have a polished enough sense of Trump that he could improvise in character, and enough respect for him to play him as a human being, not a monster.
Tumblr media
It’s one of two transformations this year for Stan — and one that might give a talented actor that most elusive thing: a brand of his own. He’s long been adjacent enough to star power that he could feel its glow, but he hasn’t been the marquee performer. While his co-stars have found themselves defined by the projects he’s been in — from “Captain America” and “I, Tonya” back to his start on “Gossip Girl” — he’s spent more than a decade in the public eye while evading being defined at all.
This fall promises to be the season that changes all that: Stan is pulling double duty with “The Apprentice” and “A Different Man” (in theaters Sept. 20), in which he plays a man afflicted with a disfiguring tumor disorder who — even when presented with a fantastical treatment that makes him look like, well, Sebastian Stan — can’t be cured of ailments of the soul. For “A Different Man,” Stan won the top acting prize at the Berlin Film Festival; for “The Apprentice,” the sky’s the limit, if it can manage to get seen. (More on that later.)
One reason Stan has largely evaded being defined is that he’s never the same twice, often willing to get loopy or go dark in pursuit of his characters’ truths. That’s all the more true this year: In “The Apprentice,” he’s under the carapace of Trumpiness; in “A Different Man,” his face is hidden behind extensive prosthetics.
“In my book, if you’re the good-looking, sensitive guy 20 movies in a row, that’s not a star for me,” says Abbasi, who compares Stan to Marlon Brando — an actor eager to play against his looks. “You’re just one of the many in the factory of the Ken dolls.”
This fall represents Stan’s chance to break out of the toy store once and for all. His Winter Soldier brought a jolt of evil into Captain America’s world, and his Jeff Gillooly was the devil sitting on Tonya Harding’s shoulder. Now Stan is at the center of the frame, playing one of the most divisive characters imaginable. So he’s showing us where he can go. The spotlight is his, and so is the risk that comes with it.
Why take such a risk?
The script for “The Apprentice,” which Stan first received in 2019, but which took years to come together, made him consider the American dream, the one that Trump achieved and is redefining.
Stan emigrated with his mother, a pianist, from communist Romania as a child. “I was raised always aware of the American dream: America being the land of opportunity, where dreams come true, where you can make something of yourself.” He pushes the wings of his hair back to frame his face, a gold signet ring glinting in the late-summer sunlight, and, briefly, I can hear a hint of Trump’s directness of approach. “You can become whoever you want, if you just have a good idea.” Stan’s good idea has been to play the lead in movies while dodging the formulaic identity of a leading man, and this year will prove just how far he can take it.
“The Apprentice” seemed like it would never come together before suddenly it did. This time last year, Stan was sure it was dead in the water, and he was OK with that. “If this movie is not happening, it’s because it’s not meant to happen,” he recalls thinking. “It will not be because I’m too scared and walk away.”
Called in on short notice and filming from November 2023 to January of this year (ahead of a May premiere in Cannes), Stan lent heft and attitude to a character arc that takes Trump from local real estate developer in the 1970s to national celebrity in the 1980s. He learns the rough-and-tumble game of power from the ruthless and hedonistic political fixer Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong), eventually cutting the closeted Cohn loose as he dies of AIDS and alienating his wife Ivana (Maria Bakalova) in the process. (In a shocking scene, Donald sexually assaults Ivana in their Trump Tower apartment.) For all its edginess, the film is about Trump’s personality — and the way it calcified into a persona — rather than his present-day politics. (Despite its title, it’s set well before the 2004 launch of the reality show that finally made Trump the superstar he longed to be.)
Tumblr media
And despite the fact that Trump has kept America rapt since he announced his run for president in 2015, Hollywood has been terrified of “The Apprentice.” The film didn’t sell for months after Cannes, an unusual result for a major English-language competition film, partly because Trump’s legal team sent a cease-and-desist letter attempting to block the film’s release in the U.S. while the fest was still ongoing. When it finally sold, it was to Briarcliff Entertainment, a distributor so small that the production has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money so that it will be able to stay in theaters.
Yes, Hollywood may vote blue, but it’s not the same town that released “Fahrenheit 9/11” or even “W.,” let alone a film that depicts the once (and possibly future) president raping his wife. (The filmmakers stand behind that story. “The script is 100% backed by my own interviews and historical research,” says Gabriel Sherman, the screenwriter and a journalist who covers Trump and the American conservative movement. “And it’s important to note that it is not a documentary. It’s a work of fiction that’s inspired by history.”) Entertainment corporations from Netflix to Disney would be severely inconvenienced if the next president came into office with a grudge against them.
“I am quite shocked, to be honest,” Abbasi says. “This is not a political piece. It’s not a hit piece; it’s not a hatchet job; it’s not propaganda. The fact that it’s been so challenging is shocking.” Abbasi, born in Iran, was condemned by his government over his last film, “Holy Spider,” and cannot safely return. He sees a parallel in the response to “The Apprentice.” “OK, that’s Iran — that is unfortunately expected. But I wasn’t expecting this.”
“Everything with this film has been one day at a time,” Stan says. The actor chalks up the film’s divisiveness to a siloed online environment. “There are a lot of people who love reading the [film’s] Wikipedia page and throwing out their opinions,” he says, an edge entering his voice. “But they don’t actually know what they’re talking about. That’s a popular sport now online, apparently.”
Unprompted, Stan brings up the idea that Trump is so widely known that some might think a biographical film about him serves no purpose. “When someone says, ‘Why do we need this movie? We know all this,’ I’ll say, ‘Maybe you do, but you haven’t experienced it. The experience of those two hours is visceral. It’s something you can hopefully feel — if you still have feelings.’”
After graduating from Rutgers in 2005, Stan found his first substantial role on “Gossip Girl,” playing troubled rich kid Carter Baizen. Like teen soaps since time immemorial, “Gossip Girl” was a star-making machine. “It was the first time I was in serious love with somebody,” he says. (He dated the series’ star, Leighton Meester, from 2008 to 2010.) He feels nostalgic for that moment: “Walking around the city, seeing these same buildings and streets — life seemed simpler.”
Stan followed his “Gossip Girl” gig with roles on the 2009 NBC drama “Kings,” playing a devious gay prince in an alternate-reality modern world governed by a monarchy, and the 2012 USA miniseries “Political Animals,” playing a black-sheep prince (and once again a gay man) of a different sort — the son of a philandering former president and an ambitious former first lady.
When I ask him what lane he envisioned himself in as a young actor, he shrugs off the question. “I grew up with a single mom, and I didn’t have a lot of male role models. I was always trying to figure out what I wanted to be. And at some point, I was like, I could just be a bunch of things.”
Tumblr media
Which might seem challenging when one is booked to play the same character, Bucky Barnes, in Marvel movie after Marvel movie. Bucky’s adventures have been wide-ranging — he’s been brainwashed and turned evil and then brought back to the home team again, all since his debut in 2011’s “Captain America: The First Avenger.” Next year, he’ll anchor the summer movie “Thunderbolts,” as the leader of a squad of quirky heroes played by, among others, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Florence Pugh. It’s easy to wonder if this has come to feel like a cage of sorts.
Not so, says Stan. His new Marvel film “was kind of like ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ — a guy coming into this group that was chaotic and degenerate, and somehow finding a way to unite them.”
Lately, knives have been out for Marvel movies as some have disappointed at the box office, and “Thunderbolts,” which endured strike delays and last-minute cast changes, has been under scrutiny.
“It’s become really convenient to pick on [Marvel films],” Stan says. “And that’s fine. Everyone’s got an opinion. But they’re a big part of what contributes to this business and allows us to have smaller movies as well. This is an artery traveling through the system of this entire machinery that’s Hollywood. It feeds in so many more ways than people acknowledge.” He adds, “Sometimes I get protective of it because the intention is really fucking good. It’s just fucking hard to make a good movie over and over again.”
Which may account for an eagerness to try something new. “In the last couple of years,” he says, “I’ve gotten much more aggressive about pursuing things that I want, and I’m constantly looking for different ways of challenging myself.”
The challenge continued throughout the shoot of “The Apprentice,” as Stan pushed the material. “One of the most creatively rewarding parts of the process was how open Sebastian was to giving notes on the script but also wanting to go beyond the script,” says Sherman, the screenwriter. “If he was interested in a certain aspect of a scene, he was like, Can you find me a quote?” he recalls.
Building a dynamic through improvised scenes, Stan and Strong stayed in character throughout the “Apprentice” shoot. “I was doing an Ibsen play on Broadway,” says Strong, who won a Tony in June for his performance in “An Enemy of the People,” “and he came backstage afterwards. And it was like — I’d never really met Sebastian, and I don’t think he’d ever met me. So it was nice to meet him.”
Before the pair began acting together, they didn’t rehearse much — “I’m not a fan of rehearsals,” Strong says. “I think actors are best left in their cocoon, doing their work, and then trusted to walk on set and be ready.” The two didn’t touch the script together until cameras went up — though they spent a preproduction day, Strong says, playing games in character as Donald and Roy.
After filming, both have kept memories of the hold their characters had on them. They shared a flight back from Telluride — a famously bumpy trip out of the mountains. “He’s a nervous flyer, and I’m a nervous flyer,” Stan says. Both marveled at the fact that they’d contained their nerves on the first day of shooting “The Apprentice,” when their characters traveled together via helicopter. “We both go, ‘Yeah — but there was a camera.’”
Stan’s aggressive approach to research came in handy on “A Different Man,” which shot before “The Apprentice.” His character’s disorder, neurofibromatosis, is caused by a genetic mutation and presents as benign tumors growing in the nervous system. After being healed, he feels a growing envy for a fellow sufferer who seems unbothered by his disability.
Stan’s co-star, Adam Pearson, was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis in early childhood. Stan found the experience challenging to render faithfully. “I said many times, I can do all the research in the world, but am I ever going to come close to this?” Stan says. “How am I going to ever do this justice?”
Plus, he had precious little time to prepare: “He was fully on board, and the film was being made weeks later,” director Aaron Schimberg says. “Zero to 60 in a matter of weeks.”
The actor grappled for something to hold on to, and Pearson sug gested he refer to his own experience of fame. “Adam said to me, ‘You know what it’s like to be public property,’” Stan says.
Tumblr media
Pearson recalls describing the experience to Stan this way: “While you don’t understand the invasiveness and the staring and the pointing that I’ve grown up with, you do know what it’s like to have the world think you owe them something.”
That sense of alienation becomes universal through the film’s storytelling: “A Different Man” takes its premise as the jumping-off point for a deep and often mordant investigation of who we all are underneath the skin.
The film was shot in 22 days in a New York City heat wave, and there was, Schimberg says, “no room for error. I would get four or five takes, however many I could squeeze out, but there’s no coverage.”
Through it all, Stan’s performance is utterly poised — Schimberg and Stan discussed Buster Keaton as a reference for his ability to be “completely stone-faced” amid chaos, the director says. And the days were particularly long because Oscar-nominated prosthetics artist Michael Marino was only able to apply Stan’s makeup in the early morning, before going to his job on the set of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”
“Even though I wasn’t shooting until 11 a.m., I would go at like 5 in the morning to his studio, or his apartment,” Stan recalls. The hidden advantage was that Stan had hours to kill while made up like his character, the kind of person the world looks past. “I wanted to walk around the city and see what happened,” Stan says. “On Broadway, one of the busiest streets in New York, no one’s looking at me. It’s as if I’m not even there.” The other reaction was worse: “Somebody would immediately stop and very blatantly hit their friend, point, take a picture.”
It was a study in empathy that flowed into the character. Stan had spoken to Pearson’s mother, who watched her son develop neurofibromatosis before growing into a disability advocate and, eventually, an actor. “She said to me, ‘All I ever wanted was for someone to walk in his shoes for a day,’” Stan recalls. “And I guess that was the closest I had ever come.”
“The Apprentice” forced Stan, and forces the viewer, to do the same with a figure that some 50% of the electorate would sooner forget entirely. And that lends the film its controversy. Those on the right, presupposing that the movie is an anti-Trump document, have railed against it. In a statement provided to Variety, a Trump campaign spokesman said, “This ‘film’ is pure malicious defamation, should never see the light of day and doesn’t even deserve a place in the straight-to-DVD section of a bargain bin at a soon-to-be-closed discount movie store, it belongs in a dumpster fire.” The campaign threatened a lawsuit, though none has materialized.
Asked about the assault scene, Stan notes that Ivana had made the claim in a deposition, but later walked it back. “Is it closer to the truth, what she had said directly in the deposition or something that she retracted?” he asks. “They went with the first part.”
The movie depicts, too, Ivana’s carrying on with her marriage after the violation, which may be still more devastating. “How do you overcome something like this?” asks Bakalova. “Do you have to put on a mask that everything is fine? In the next scene, she’s going to play the game and pretend that we’re the glamorous, perfect couple.” The Trumps, in “The Apprentice,” live in a world of paper-thin images, one that grows so encompassing that Donald no longer feels anything for the people to whom he was once loyal. They’re props in his stage show.
“The Apprentice” will drop in the midst of the most chaotic presidential election of our lifetime. “The way it lands in this extremely polarized situation, for me as an artist, is exciting. I won’t lie to you,” says Abbasi.
When asked if he was concerned about blowback from a Trump 47 presidency, Stan says, “You can’t do this movie and not be thinking about all those things, but I really have no idea. I’m still in shock from going from an assassination attempt to the next weekend having a president step down [from a reelection bid].”
Stan’s job, as he sees it, was to synthesize everything he’d absorbed — all those videos on his phone — into a person who made sense. This Trump had to be part of a coherent story, not just the flurry of news updates to which we’ve become accustomed.
“You can take a Bach or a Beethoven, and everyone’s going to play that differently on the piano, right?” Stan says. (His pianist mother named him for Johann Sebastian Bach.) “So this is my take on what I’ve learned. I have to strip myself of expectations of being applauded for this, if people are going to like it or people are going to hate it. People are going to say whatever they want. Hopefully they should think at least before they say it.”
It’s a reality that Stan is now used to — the work is the work, and the way people interpret him is none of his business. Perhaps that’s why he has run away from ever being the same thing twice. “I could sit with you today and tell you passionately what my truth is, but it doesn’t matter,” he says. “Because people are more interested in a version of you that they want to see, rather than who you are.”
“The Apprentice” has been the subject of extreme difference of opinion by many who have yet to see it. It’s been read — and will continue to be after its release — as anti-Trump agitprop. The truth is chewier and more complicated, and, perhaps, unsuited for these times.
“Are we going to live in a world where anyone knows what the truth is anymore? Or is it just a world that everyone wants to create for themselves?” Stan asks.
His voice — the one that shares a slight accent with Trump but that is, finally, Stan’s own — is calm and clear. “People create their own truth right now,” he says. “That’s the only thing that I’ve made peace with; I don’t need to twist your arm if that’s what you want to believe. But the way to deal with something is to actually confront it.”

My Johnshi head canons:
Johnny is insanely good at accents and celebrity impressions
Kenshi never went to college or university. He got immediately pulled into full time yakuza business after his high-school
Kenshi legit talks with yakuza/gangster dailect in japanese
Johnny was the theater kid and a nerd. All around annoying lil shit
Kenshi is super good at poker or any other gambling games
Johnny goes out of his way to support small artists and tips workers with huge bills
Johhny learns new things super fast. He has learned a huge variety of skills for his movies, from cooking to how to handle guns.
Kenshi definitely knows how to work guns too and the yakuza mainly oporates with arms. He sticks to his swords because it is his family tradition, and he's even named "swordsman" for it
Johnny sometimes talks in broken spanish because he thinks it makes him look cool
Johnny had a major drinking problem early in his career. Like he would be drunk every day, then Chris convinced him to get help and rehab, so now he only drinks when it is necessary or when he's hit low
Johnny takes many creative ways to ruin paparazzi pictures. Starting from a simple middle finger to napkin over his face like Benedict Cumberbatch type of things
Kenshi is bad at cooking. Only thing he can do is chop things up
Kenshi knows kendo and judo! He used to be in a kendo club in his highschool
Kenshi has anger issues and often meditates a lot with his mala to work through it
Johnny loves talking during movies. He would pause the movie then have a full-on discussion and debate over the scenes. He's the type of person who interprets blue curtains as a metaphor for sadness
Johnny is swoony romcom type of romantic when Kenshi is more of traditional type of romantic
Kenshi is the number #1 undercover simp for Johnny! Always talking highly of him behind his back but never to his face.
Even after they get together, they still bicker like crazy although there's no intention to hurt behind their words. I need more fanfics of them actually bickering and squabbling
Kenshi takes care of people he loves without taking credits. Like he would give you a water bottle when he knows you need it but he gotta look pointedly away like he's not the one handing it to you

So, I redesigned the Hogwarts uniforms! 🌈
for those who don't know, me and a small group of people have banded together in the name of pride to do an inclusive rewrite of Hogwarts- or as our au/rewrite is called, Whore-warts. This is all for shits and giggles. It's also good art practice for me and others in the group!
I saw in the cannon uniform that there weren't lots of customization options for the skirts or pants. so I started with making three versions of the skirts and pants. Short, medium, and long.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
as for the cloaks I made 4 different types. Regular, Formal, short, and Winter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
while I do love a good cloak I do like some variation ✨
onto ✨ 💜 colors 💜 ✨
I was talking to my little group and on a vc call one of them pointed out that there should be a dark version of the uniform shirts those who preferred darker colors can have the darker colors. I also took it upon myself to help Ravenclaw because BROWN? as an accent color to BLUE? honey- no- so I gave raven claw a silver accent like Slytherin. that also balanced with the two other houses Griffindor and Hufflepuff that both have yellow/gold in their color scheme.
here is the light version ✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I also made the ties look a little more fun by cropping them and making them bigger!)
This is the dark version! ✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ignore the large gap that's for the cloaks.
SPEAKING OF CLOAKS. the reason why I made more types is because while I, and the rest of the Whore-warts crew love a good cloak we also like some variety. ya know? some flavor while also slaying and serving.
So I made regular, the normal type that you see in the movies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then I made the formal cloak. it is specially worn in the special events like when the new 1st years arrivals and the sorting hat- ritual- does that classify as a ritual?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyways I also made a short cloak because while long and flowing cloaks are cool- they aren't the best for spring and summer. So the short cloak is to give the aesthetic of having some flow in the uniform outfit, it also doesn't cause the character to die of heatstroke.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then there is my personal favorite, winter. I hade so much fun making the fluffy winter coat. no more commentary needed. It's just nice, and I love it.
and the winter cloak will come in the post right after this because I ran out of image space on this- whoopsie!

silly hc idea for the riddlers. What do you think it'd be like if the riddlers who have voice actors/actors met their actors? Do you think they'd be appreciative? Freaked out?
Riddlers meet their actors
Short and sweet but this is way too cute
Tw: fourth wall breaking, meta, unreality/dpdr, surveillance
Gotham
- Considering the canon (that I ignore mostly because it's done so poorly) that hes got a split personality he's talked to, it probably wouldn't go well? Lots of animosity. Like a dog growling at its reflection.
- IGNORING THAT THOUGH. He'd start quizzing him and giving him riddles since this is obviously a fake. A trick someone is playing on him.
- if he found out it was real, he'd be super apologetic and calling him Mr.
- oh god does that mean there's actors for penguin and zsasz as well? They must be more pleasant than the on screen counterparts, at least.
60s
- Between Edward's riddles and puns and Mr. Gorshins stand up, the crime fighting duo is going to be seeing double! But this isn't about them.
- given this riddler is kind of a cinemaphile, there would be so many acting questions. Favorite movie? Who is the most famous person he's worked with (besides him, obviously)? He's quite good at acting and impressions himself, as Frank Gorshin would already know.
Zero year
- Get fucked, Edward, you have no VA or actor. That will however not stop him from harassing the writer and artist. His plan was failproof! How did this GUY beat him? And he can't just read who Batman is because then it'll be like he couldn't figure it out on his own. Ugh!
- He is going to red marker a copy of Zero Year showing every unflattering panel. See that expression where it looks like he has a double chin? That has to go, fellas!
- He tells them to do a better job next time. Because there WILL be a next time. He's simply the best riddler there could be! And no, not with the mohawk, get that out of here.
BTAS
- Civilized conversation after a brief "How strange, you can imitate me- OH-" Well, perhaps you should have pushed for more riddler episodes. His brilliant mind should be on display after all!
- sorry its been...... its been how many years since the show has been on...? Of COURSE he knew that. It was just a surprise hearing it. Right now.
- well. Other than that, he's going to ask about the family, his husband, as is only polite. Then about the other voices. Working with them and-
- sorry, joker is luke skywalker?
Telltale
- It should only make sense that his voice actor should be so skilled with a long variety of credits. Perhaps he has this skill as well and he didn't even realize it!
- German is a surprising accent he didn't know he could do. That will definitely come into play at a later date if he needs to hide his voice.
Arkham
- He can't handle this. The realization he's just pixels in programming- He's so much GRANDER than this! Yes, yes, you've done a great job, whatever, he has much more concerning things to deal with. He'll spare you, Wally, simply because without you his voice wouldn't be.
- this ultimately turns into him becoming the nastiest virus that figures out how to spread to any device that can access wifi. In this new world, there's nothing he can't see or control...
2022
- honestly I think he'd be terrified. Who is this well-adjusted man with his face? He's an ACTOR? People pay to see this face? His worthless, disgusting-
- wait he has fans?
- it all goes downhill from there. Abduction, probably like when Joker abducted Mark Hamil in that one special.
- He will flip when he finds out Paul Dano wrote his origin comics. Someone who knows him so well better than ANYONE else on this wretched world.

KUNG FU PANDA X WUXIA
K guys, have an idea here and i need some feedback if you know anything about wuxia, Xianxia or just a single danmei, y'know how Kung fu panda is actually based completely on not only Chinese culture but heavily inspired by the wuxia genre as well? You can even see the resemblance on some things, the qi being just like spiritual energy than CAN be stolen, like what happened with kai on KFP 3, the wuxi finger is basically a forced qi deviation, the power that you can cultivate by training, the way that oogway literally ascended to a heavenly realm as a god after years of cultivating spiritual energy, like we only needed Po to bleed from his mouth and we have literally everything for it to be an actual wuxia/xianxia story, so i was thinking, why not make a fan comic of the story of the movies as an actual wuxia/xianxia with human characters and a bit more blood and exaggeration????
You may be thinking "why tf would you want to do that with a kids movie" or even just "why?"
And my answers are: because i love Chinese fantasy and kung fu panda so i want to combine them further, and for the second question i would like to say that just because i want to...but that's not the case my fellow internet people... It is because the human versions of the furious five that i always come across on Pinterest i hate with a passion 🕴🏻
Not to say anything bad about the artists skills or to bash their designs at all, but i would love it if people weren't so forgetful about the fact the furious five are you know... Chinese I feel like people isn't taking advantage of that culture at all
And not only Chinese, we're talking about historical periods of old china were no one was allowed to cut their hair or show skin below the neck
Like why would po wear a tiny shirt? Why would po be bald? Why would monkey be black? (It kinda rubs me the wrong way how some people make specifically monkey the only dark skinned character i think it reads racist ngl 🤨) Why would tigress have a pixie cut? Why would viper show so much skin when she's the daughter of a respectable warrior and would basically be very close to being a princess? Like- things like that are completely fine, nothing wrong to the vision they have on the characters, but to the neurodivergent hyperfixating me, the fact that no one overanalizes anything about this kids movie about a panda eating dumplings is outrageous, it's not them, it's me 😔✊🏻
SO
I've spent a few months organizing ideas on how i believe a more wuxia/Xianxia design of the characters would look like
Tumblr media
I've been trying to keep the design closer to the animals they supposedly are but it's kinda hard (◎_◎;)
Tumblr media
For Po i keept his body shape and decided a bun or any kind of high hairstyle would be ideal for him since he was a cook and still cooks a lot, a ponytail or half up hairstyle would get on his way a lot. I decided to give him vitiligo to mimic the panda spots on his original design, crashing his weight, height and skin to add the unique factor that was present on the movie by him being the only panda on the valley, He's the only one I've actually drawn yet but it is still in development
Tumblr media
For tigress or however tf you spell it, English isn't my first language. I decided to go for a sharp and serious look
Tumblr media
To keep it simple, I'll be giving her a light brown shade of hair, i want to avoid giving them vibrant hair colors but still having some nods to their color pallets on the movies, giving her an almost reddish light brown hair and mostly red and orange robes with black accents and accessories as well keeping her original outfit with a few changes. I wanted to give her a ponytail since i don't feel like she'd put all of her hair up; and instead of claws, she will have a variety of knives at her disposal for battle
Next, for viper, my favorite gal
Tumblr media
I wanted to make her look significantly more elegant and younger that the rest of the five since, like i said, she is from a prestigious family, i wanted to accentuate how pampered a girl from a good family could look, i also decided to keep her ribbon dance plot, the only reason to why i gave her arms, since i love the idea of her fighting with her legs but that ribbon dance so i decided to give her congenital hand differences as her disability, turning the "her family uses fangs to attack and she was born without them" to "her family uses pressure points to attack and she was born with mostly dysfunctional fingers", this way she would still be considered an exceptional warrior with ribbons that she can control with her wrists and arms. I also want to give her a really really dark forest green colored hair :D
M O N K E Y
Tumblr media
For monkey i wanted to go for a little more adult vibe as well as for mantis; i wanted to give him some scruffiness since he started out as a prankster until oogway found him...yeah that family friendly story isn't going to work, let's face it, monkey was living in the streets stealing what he could for fun, my man was a criminal and homeless, he wasn't a good person and even po said so while telling his story to the kids, so, I gave him a style that would resemble someone who once was carefree and from a low social position that still doesn't care much about material things, but cares enough to not disappoint or dishonor his masters. I will be giving him a more yellow and light brown wardrobe to resemble his colors on the movie and as for attack, he'll use a long cane like he sometimes does in the canon
Now for crane (≧∇≦)/
Tumblr media
Crane is very simple to imagine as a human so there's not much i can say about his design other than the fans, i decided to give him a pair of fans as weapons, using them to cut down enemies as if they were blades and also to give him the stability to fly, since i won't take away his ability to fly as it is something common on wuxia and or xianxia stories, i like to think he is the only one who trained this flying technique by watching real disciples on temples he'd clean, but still needs his fans for stability and to be able to carry and support the weight of multiple people hanging onto him
LASTLY ~mantis~
Tumblr media
The mature vibes~ i wanted to keep him looking a bit more like a warrior since that was his job before training under shifu's roof, he had a reputation and prestige, so i thought he might look a bit more professional; I'll also give him green robes but i haven't decided if he'd use a weapon or not 🤔 I'm also keeping him a short king
So, what do you guys think? Should i go more bold with the designs? Have any feedback or opinions? Because I'd love to hear it! (≧∇≦)/
I'm prepared for this post to flop so bad omg

Here's a little one-shot from that werewolf Peter au I was talking about yesterday.
Summary: Aro finds the strange creature that has been causing trouble, and quickly takes an interest in him
Warning: blood, mentioned death, Peter is not dressed due to werewolf reasons, Aro is an ass, but this is normal
On with the fic!
--
Aro had been expecting a newborn vampire as the one causing all these slayings in the city of Las Vegas, they had fit the usual style of bloodthirsty vampires with no proper guidance. It was a decent reason to travel to this city after a visit with the Cullens, just to check up on their little child, making sure she wasn't a threat still.
He had taken up the task to find the newborn himself, he needed the amusement.
However, what he had found was anything but a recently made vampire.
Instead, he found the shivering form of a naked human, covered in claw marks, and blood, both the human's own and another person's. The scent was strong, but the blood of the human before him was... not right.
It reminded Aro of the shapeshifters, of both this country, and of Europe. Though there are quite a variety of shifters around the world, you could tell the scent of their animal if you were well adapted as Aro.
And he smelled the scent of a feral wolf.
The human was a skinny thing, but clearly a tall one, with dark brown hair, and eyes that showed both fear and anger. There were still features of the wolf on him, the long, nasty claws still soaked in blood and chunks of meat, with sharp teeth bared. The body was a tight thing of muscles still trying to change back into a more human-like structure, and the feet were... not quite right, yet, but were slowly changing back.
It looked painful.
"My, my, my..." Aro stared, smiling as he stared at the human, hidden in the shadows of a disgusting alleyway. The scent of garbage, human, and blood was strong here, was a terrible place to be. "Was not expecting one of you to be the cause of all the attacks, how curious."
"Fuck off." The human snarled, practically growled out. The accent was clearly not a local one, he sounded British. How silly, a reverse of that old film, then?
"And why would I do that?"
"Got enough problems right now, fang face, don't need a fancy ass vampire to come cause me trouble!" The human stated before crying out as there were loud bone snaps, his feet becoming normal again.
So, it was painful. Fun.
Aro chuckled and approached, standing over the human laid on the filthy ground, panting hard and not seeming to care that he was naked as anything.
Hmm... not a bad looking human, probably wouldn't be much of a snack even if he wasn't a werewolf. He had the underlining scent of alcohol. Lots of it. It made blood taste terrible.
"How did you know I'm a vampire?" Aro asked, smiling down at him.
The man glared up at him, gritting his teeth as his claws started to revert back into fingernails. "I'm... clever like that. Expert hunter... fuck!"
He panted hard then dropped his head back with a grunt. "Plus, you stand out like one from a movie or somethin'. Or a dumb vampire novel."
Aro couldn't help but to laugh at this, he'd be insulted if he didn't find this creature oddly amusing. "Expert hunter, hm? Is that how you became a werewolf, little wolf?"
This earned him a very, very nasty look, which only served to amuse Aro more. "Fuck you. I am, one of the best experts in the world. And I got bit... in a way that's none of your business."
Aro just hummed, nodding, taking note of scars on the human's exposed skin. Scratches, lots of them, some old, some new, some healing right now. There were also bites, old ones, scattered about, but there was one that sat on the man's left shoulder, it looked red still, but the attacks had been happening for a few months now, was a werewolf bite slow to heal?
This creature made Aro very curious, it wasn't often he dealt with werewolves, it had been ages since he last encountered any, and all of them had been slaughtered by humans shortly afterwards. Or by other vampires.
It would be a shame to slaughter this one, when Aro could use him to study the beasts. He watched the human roll about in pain as the last of his body changes back to a normal appearance, and he ponders over this being.
He wonders... would a werewolf be good in his ranks? Those vampires up north have their shapeshifters, so why shouldn't he have one? It would make things more interesting for him, that was for sure.
He grinned, holding out a hand. "Here, let me help you."
The man stared at the hand. "Why?"
"You are lying in blood and who knows what, it is nearly fully sunrise, and I am sure you'd like to be home and not naked and coated in blood before anyone else sees."
"Hmm... and how do I know you're not just going to bite me and drink my blood when you help me up?"
"I do not like the taste of animal blood."
"Bite me!"
"I just said I don't like dog blood." Aro laughed at the sputtering the human made, and just yanked him up off the ground, much to his protest.
As much as it bothered Aro to let anyone use his clothing, he removed his cloak to cover the man, who mumbled a thanks, curling up in it.
"Now," Aro started, clasping his hands in front of himself, "how about we discuss things in a more secluded location."
The man looked confused. "Discuss what things?"
"Oh, you'll soon learn. Come now, show me where you live, dear wolf." He smiled, gently taking the man by the elbow and started to walk out of the alley.
--
Peter would fight back more, but he is utterly exhausted, in pain, and feeling like shit for a number of reasons. He'll be much more annoyed with Aro once he gets a shower, sobs over his self-hatred and guilt, and has at least three cups of coffee in his system.

Tumblr media
Okay so I've gotten a lot of feedback regarding the Maleficent pairing and while I'm not out to argue with anyone, some of the feedback I've received has made me outright confused as to what people are expecting with this fan pairing.
Biggest point of contention was the gene & color combination. (Obsidian Metallic/Radioactive Bee-Shimmer/Purple Underbelly.) People wanted tertiaries like Flecks or Ghost…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When that doesn't match Maleficent's dragon design. (Big, long, black-as-night western style dragon with translucent wings and a purple underbelly.)
"So why are the wings radioactive green then?" Because that's the color (along with purple) that's associated with the character:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Granted, her purple is more of a Plum, but that color combination was impossible to find at the time (2019-2020.) I can work on this for future iterations of the pair.
Tumblr media
I do have other reasons why I chose Radioactive and Bee. Not only is Bee translucent like her wings are in canon, but she also teleports, threatens & transforms via bright green flame:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She also breathes (technically) green fire. though it does look yellow in some shots:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other color choices I could've chosen from the movie were Lemon for the Fire or Olive/Black for wings, which imo, wouldn't look as nice in game and would lead to more confusion as to what/who it's supposed to be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
People also had a point of contention when it came to the species, (Guardian, a plentiful breed) but, again, I have to ask you:
Tumblr media
What other species could properly fit Maleficent? Noctune, maybe? Ridgeback?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Granted, those are some really good options that I don't mind changing Malevolent, the male, in to, but Guardian still feels like the most canon accurate, which is the driving force behind all my fan dragons: "How can I make it look as canon accurate as possible?"
As for Mav's shimmer, that was admittedly me trying to save myself 1200g and have a little variety amongst the hatchlings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That said, it is rather hideous so I'd be open to changing it for next year. Sadly, one of the reasons I stayed with Shim' is because it was the only gene that didn't drastically change the color/appearance with complicated patterns/accent colors.
If I don't make it Bee for him as well, I'm open to Foam as it's both bright, semi-translucent and fits the "witchy" vibes even though Maleficent is more of a demon fairy, let's no split hairs here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yeah, I'm not sure what people want/need from this pair. The one suggestion to make the next pair the inverse and veilspun...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That idea rocks, ngl 👀
Gonna make a new google (or maybe even tumblr) poll regarding this pair so I know which direction to take them for next Halloween. I want to thank everyone for their feedback and let you know I'll be making other feedback forms (and some responses like this one) soon.

Nymphomaniac (2013)
Tumblr media
Movie #1,150 • Ranking Lars von Trier #3
By way of its shear gargantuan size (almost 5 ½ hours), and its position as the final entry of his most polarizing era (the Depression trilogy), Nymphomaniac seems to be screaming for — if not only striving to achieve — magnum opus status in the Lars von Trier filmography. The inclusion of hardcore porn is all many (probably too many) are gonna remember about this, but not me. I'll remember all the asinine and overly complicated metaphors intertwined throughout and Christian Slater's atrocious attempt at an English accent. Just kidding. I'll remember the sex stuff.
It’s ugly and sick and I’m sure ‘problematic’ and so on, and yet it ranks among von Trier’s very best because all of those things are part of the human experience, and he hasn’t just made a film about them here: he’s made a film that literally and physically invokes them in the viewer. The difference between a piece of art like this and some scrap of torture porn (or regular porn sometimes) is that, in spite of the vileness of these characters and the full-view, unfiltered look into their actions, it’s rendered beautifully and thoughtfully (the latter almost to a fault, with the plentiful and sometimes lengthy off-kilter digressions into metaphor, though I appreciated those too).
It feels like the spiritual successor, in a way, to 1996’s Breaking the Waves. Where, for better or worse, that film remained tied down to a traditional narrative structure, the setup here (especially with its conversational framing device and use of found footage) is allowed to burst free. Where Emily Watson's Bess became a nymphomaniac out of duty and real human love, Charlotte Gainsbourg's Joe became one out of compulsion and a personified inner rage. It's fitting that Stellan Skarsgård played the central counterpart in each movie, too: the injured, impotent husband in Wave s and the asexual intellectual foil here, Seligman. They would make a lovely double feature if you have half a day to kill.
Also, on that point, its length is a crucial if not necessary asset in terms of its success. Where the grotesque elements of Antichrist felt like cheap genre riffs unloaded in its final act, the audience is inundated from the get-go here with a variety of “hard to watch” scenes and sequences of all stripes and duration. And they come steadily for FIVE hours. It’s an endurance test, perhaps, but a rewarding one — particularly in the middle stretch of Vol. II.
It’s also the rare movie where you don’t need to relate to, sympathize with, or even totally understand the motives of the protagonist. The film is set with up a question: is Joe good or bad? This query is batted back and forth ad nauseam in Vol. I but it slowly dissipates over the course of the second part. In the end, it's more about humanity at large and Joe is just an avatar for our evil urges.
And Seligman's heel turn in the end is the ultimate von Trierian joke. Of course he was just listening to get into her pants. What is a woman like Joe without the thousands (millions, billions) of men? There are, naturally, touchy concepts about gender swirling all around here and, in the beginning, it felt like this was subtly leaning into the misogynist territory of Antichrist (I don't necessarily see that film as stridently anti-women but that sentiment is definitely out there). The wonderful thing about Nymphomaniac is that, by its conclusion, we do register some sympathy for Joe, if not even viewing her as miraculously heroic. And because of its structure, constantly presenting both sides of every moment and idea, and playing devil's advocate, via the Monday Morning Quarterbacking session with Joe and Seligman, we're allowed an even further detachment from moral judgment. It's like LVT is hedging his bets while also staying ahead of the curve. It's pretty brilliant. I don't think this is von Trier's best movie but in a career full of audacious maneuvers and good taste/faith boundary pushing, it's by far his most daring and provocative. And that's saying something.
SCORE: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ll be counting down all of Lars Von Trier’s movies right here at @cinemacentral666 every Thursday through September 2023

I’m kinda new to your blog and don’t know if you give writing tips for asks but, any advice on how to keep characters with very similar speaking styles separate without making them sound the exact same?
I'll probably message you personally in a bit asking for more details since I think a lot of writing advice is best suited when given specific to the writer and their project. I think it should be a conversation rather than me just rambling about my General Vibes, you know?
I will say here that this is one of the most common problems that I see a lot of writers grapple with. We get intimidated by dialogue at times, and I think it's because there's this slight pressure to make it exactly mimic the realism of the world we live in. My Cool Hot Take is that I think in stories we have a little more freedom.
If you're a writer that's drawn to a distinct manner of speaking across your characters, that could just be what makes your writing distinct. Consider Aaron Sorkin, writer of the West Wing and other shows I have not seen more than clips of. You look up his stuff and you see that everyone kind of has the same quick-fire, long-winded thing going on. It's a common thing in most movies that showcase the transatlantic accent - you know, the thing that made all actors sound the same and wasn't how they actually spoke. Why did they feel the need to do that? I think it's probably because they thought it was cool but I could be wrong.
I don't watch a lot of Sorkin properties because I'm not into political stuff (I'm one of those people), but I enjoy his dialogue. Some don't, but enough do that it became a massive cultural influence and won a lot of awards.
So yeah, if you don't think your dialogue is strong that's one thing. I'd say watch/read a variety of movies and plays (especially plays but I'm also a theater kid so I may be biased), scripts and recordings of which you can find online. I can give suggestions based on your premise if it helps. But if you like the way you write dialogue and are just worried that it isn't distinct enough, that probably isn't the problem you think it is. I'm on my 13th novel and I probably have like three styles of dialogue, tops. But people seem to like it. I've written a lot of plays that have made people cry.
Structurally though it helps not to write scenes where a bunch of people talk at once. That might be your problem. Like I can hold a conversation between maybe three people at a time. More can be in the scene but they gotta wait their turn.
Also if people are into this I can totally answer more asks like this. As long as your prepared for me to message you for more info haha.

Put On Your Raincoats | Wet Wilderness (Cooper, 1975)
Tumblr media
What's scarier? A murderous maniac in the middle of the woods, or your annoying coworker on Casual Friday? By dressing its villain in a ski mask, a polo and five-pocket pants, this movie poses the question, what if they were the same person?!? As you can probably guess by now, despite running through such transgressions as rape, incest, racism and murder, this isn't a terribly frightening affair. Some of that is, as I alluded, due to the appearance of the villain. Some of this is due to the slapdash filmmaking involved. When the villain finally kills one of his victims, he rubs his prop machete on her with all the firmness of putting out a cigarette. Later, another murder victim is seen clearly breathing. And a frantic chase scene appears to have been shot against a black backdrop with leaves being patted on the actors' faces in lieu of any actual running. (It goes without saying that the camera setups are crude and lack variety.)
And some of this, and this is where my garbage viewing habits become painfully evident, is the lack of forcefulness in executing this scenario. This is ostensibly a roughie, and you could argue that the machete the villain threateningly wields is enough to scare the other characters into submission. But when tablecloths are laid out on the ground before any of the sex scenes, it greatly undermines the supposed surprise of any of the proceedings. And when a character leisurely jogs away in plain sight to escape from the killer, it greatly undermines any sense of danger he might possess, especially when she does it multiple times.
If there's something provocative about the movie, it's in furthering the roughie's sense of audience complicity. The average roughie is designed to get the viewer off on sexual assault, inviting us to identify not with the victims, but with the perpetrators, with evil instead of good. This arguably goes a step further, in that the villain doesn't just rape his victims himself, he forces them to have sex with each other under the threat of death, ordering them through scenarios coloured by incest (most of his victims are family members) and later racism (he forces one of them to have sex with another victim, a black man, while making demeaning remarks about the man's race), blurring the lines between the viewer, star and director. It might seem silly given all that transpires, but admit I was a little bothered when he dropped a racial slur, as it dispelled a little the overall goofiness of the affair. Geez, I wish these murdering rapists weren't so racist.
The proceedings lack any of the charge a better executed roughie might have, the movie's incompetence, Southern accent of the villain and relaxed energy of the sex scenes greatly diffusing some of its more noxious qualities. Although the rape scenes not being mean spirited enough probably makes this an easier, or at least funnier, watch than most roughies, and I thought the daughter playing the actress was pretty cute, so the movie is not without its charms. I will say, if you wanted to take this to the movie mechanics and "fix" this, there's just one thing you have to do. You don't need better acting or better production values, although those would help. All you gotta do is add at least one more maniac. (And maybe send them to diversity training. Okay, that's two things. Geez, I wish these murdering rapists weren't so racist.) When you have all these scenes where one maniac is barking orders at the family to bump uglies and what have you, it's hard for him to keep an eye on more than one at a time and make sure nobody tries to get away. But when you add another maniac, it's like having a spotter at the gym. He or she has your back. And who knows, if you add a few more, the maniacs could tag-team their victims, maybe even go for one great big gang bang. With multiple maniacs, the possibilities are endless.

Is it weird how I'm suddenly inspired to learn a new language? Are there any resources you would recommend for learning Mandarin and Latin American Spanish?
I don't think that's weird at all, it's always cool to learn a new language and if you ever feel inspired to do it, I'd say do it!
As far as resources I recommend...
I tend to get basic 101 style books on the language's alphabet/writing system, basic grammar rules and phrases and from there I pretty much solo it by listening to music, watching movies, watching anime subbed in a target language, etc. etc. I do this with pretty much every language I've learned up until this pointー Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Mandarin. Then every once in a while I take occasional notes on things like grammar. The more adept I get with the language, the less I start relying on the book.
For Spanish the book I got was Spanish Demystified. For Mandarin I used the textbooks I needed to purchase for the class, Integrated Chinese (Simplified Characters), and watched Chinese dramas and movies. I really like the Mexican novelas Soy Tu Dueña, Mi Corazón es Tuyo, María la del Barrio. I've been into Reina del Flow on Netflix lately (Colombian). La Primera Dama, both Colombian and Chilean versions, are good. You can find plenty of novelas on Netflix and Youtube.
I'm more into Chinese films than C-dramas personally, I LOVE the movie Suddenly Seventeen (it's on youtube too), Big Fish & Begonia and Hear Me (Taiwanese Film) are my personal favorites. I'll recommend those any day of the week.
I also recommend watching youtubers that speak your target language. Especially if you're trying to learn a Latin American variety of Spanish since across Latin America there are plenty of dialects and accents. I'd check out as many as possible because if you're trying to learn a specific dialect, you'll want to know which one you like the most. I went with Mexican since my at the time GF was Mexican and I worked in her city for a while back in 2018.
Youtubers I like are Missasinfonia (Mexican), Piyoasdf (Chilean), Danna Alquati (Venezuelan). I'd say just learn how to say certain things you're interested in Spanish or Mandarin and look them up in youtube. Like... 'viendo JJK por primera vez' to find JJK reactions in Spanish and so on and so forth.
I rec watching youtubers and movies and listening to music since native speakers naturally speak faster than the way they do in videos/resources meant for teaching. So it's best to get used to how native speakers speak quickly, at least for me. But I'd adapt your studying and things like that to personally how you best learn, what your goals are for the language and things like that.
I go more into it in this post on my study/langblr
