!!! heyy can I request some lackadaisy Mordecai and platonic reader angst headcanons?? maybe one particular day got really bad for mordecai and it pushed him off the edge so now he's just dealing with the thing that upset him at hand, but in the end it got worse so now he's just trying not to cry, but then the reader tries to help him calm down?

He finds it fascinating how you can put so much emotion into your playing

Mordecai particularly likes listening to violin or piano but if you play a different instrument he quickly develops a taste for it

Brings sheet music to you before he buys a record so he can hear it before he buys it

Is very happy to sit and work whilst he listens to you practicing

A soft smile overtaking his features as he glances up and sees you pouring your soul into this particular piece

“I’ve never heard this piece, what is it called? I would like a record of it”

“It’s, um- I wrote it… for you”

He needs a 45 minute nap right there and then to stop his emotions running wild

How do you cuddle with Mordecai Heller? Simple. You don’t.

Well, that isn’t entirely true. But it’s what you tell everyone — he has a reputation to uphold, after all. And it’s much easier than defining what “cuddling” means for the two of you.

Like with many aspects of your relationship with Mordecai, cuddling came little by little. He’s not keen on touch, even in the best of scenarios. Most days, being touched just feels like a million concentrated pinpricks. It’s almost painful sometimes, the way unwanted hands sear into his skin and imprint themselves on his nerves. Not to mention all the germs people have. Eugh.

You knew he was touch averse long before you ever started dating — you’ve seen the way he leans away from others when they go in for hugs, or the way he grimaces during pat-downs on jobs. It’s such an intrinsic part of him that you never expected it to change, and you’re okay with that.

But sometimes, he surprises you.

There’s little gestures that he does (after a considerable amount of self-talk, not that he’d ever tell you that) that truly make your heart melt.

Working up to sleeping in the same bed was an adventure all on its own. It’s quite the milestone of trust for him, with a weight that’s just a stone’s throw away from an outright proposal. This man has spent most of his life in the center of danger’s crosshairs, so to trust you enough to let down his walls… well, you get the idea.

He always falls asleep after you do. He sleeps on his side, facing the door, with a foot of space between you — no more, no less. He counts your breaths as you drift into sleep, and memorizes the way your body heat seeps through into his own. He commits your very presence to memory, and it quickly becomes difficult— no, impossible — to sleep when you’re not by his side. He likes to say it’s because his routine is broken, but you both know that’s a lie.

His fur is soft — that’s the first thing you think to yourself when Mordecai brushes his tail against your own one night. You hold your breath, waiting for him to pull back, like it was some sort of mistake… but he doesn’t. There’s no hiss, no flinch or startle… just peace. Calm. Your lips pull back in a soft smile as you bask in the moment, enjoying every second that you’re connected. You dare not say anything, afraid that if you did he’d overthink the moment, or shrink back from the intensity of his emotions. But he never pulls away, not until the sun is shining through your curtains and begging the two of you to rise.

From then on, that too becomes part of your shared routine.

And little by little, it grows.

It starts as a brush… and then intertwining. Then he does it while you read together in bed… and then on the couch.

When it’s you, touch can be… pleasant. It’s an unusual feeling, foreign, but not a bad one.

Little incidences like that slowly become more and more frequent. More openly devout in their meaning, their intensity. He never thought he’d feel this safe with anyone ever again, and it’s almost scary how deep his love runs for you.

Some days are better than others, of course. It’s never your fault, never. Sometimes he truly just cannot handle the sensation of it all. You like to joke with him a little when he puts his hands up as a ward.

Can’t have you getting too soft on me, you jest, I know, I’m addictive.

And of course he sputters, because he is not getting soft (yet another lie) but at the end of the day, he knows you won’t push him. He trusts you.

But you can always count on that last step of your routine. Every night at 10:30pm his tail wraps around yours, like clockwork. Stress melts into weightless peace in an instant, with the world as little more than a memory outside of the walls of your shared apartment. Some lovers parade their joy around in the streets under the light of day, thriving in the attention that their unity provides. But you and Mordecai belong to the night, wrapped up in quiet, intimate eternity. And you wouldn’t change a thing.

older rocky is a uncle to the kids hes more close to Kevin and dotty Arthur likes rocky but thinks rocky is well Kinda the same feelings a nina pessimistic, pretty much but does still like Rocky he found out after nina that freckle and ivy were having a kid his i say like gruncle stan a little bit still rocky about things and there an ongoing joke that i do ware rocky doesn't pay his taxes and that's why he doesn't visit the kids all to much cus like even in canon i think this that man DOSE NOT PAY HIS TAXES

-when you had first joined marigold mordecai’s thoughts of you.. weren’t the nicest. he thought you were loud and obnoxious, and overall found you more of a bother than anything else.

-no matter how much he tried to avoid you though, you always seemed to find him. it was like you gained some sort of attachment to him.

-he’s trying to relax? you’re there with him of course. he’s trying to read? of course you’re there. there’s no escaping you and your energetic personality.

-you practically talk his ear off! and sometimes when you get too passionate about whatever your going on about you suddenly just.. jump around with excited noises.

-you also get really grabby whenever you’re too excited. nothing sexual or romantic, just something you seem to do whenever you have pent up energy.

-wether that be from squeezing his arm or tugging him along to wherever you wanted him to go. it was rather.. irritating to say the least.

-but after a while he seems to get used to this behavior, accepting that this is what he woule have to deal with on a daily basis.

-his dislike for your loud and burst of energy/hyper personality became more of a… tolerance. he no longer scowls when he sees you and his fur no longer prickles when your voice gets a little too loud.

-but just because he tolerates you now doesn’t mean you’re safe from his snarky remarks or his somewhat short temper. but that’s fine since you never really seemed to be put off by his closed off personality anyway.

-he’s blunt with you, telling you to shut up if annoyed. does it work? only for about five minutes and then you’re back to talking his ear off.

-on very rare occasions if you’re going into one of your big burst of energies he’ll let you hug him. but only if he’s in a good enough mood, which isn’t that often. he never was a fan of hugs, but he’ll make an exception for you.

-..and despite your hyper moods you’re chatting and overal bouncy attitude sometimes help with taking stress off missions. that is when you’re not required to be quiet. otherwise he’ll tell you to pipe down.

-and having a lot of energy means getting a lot of work done, even if it means you sometimes get distracted.

-overall you’re really not as bad as he first made you out to be, even if sometimes you get on his nerves. you could say you somewhat keep him sane, as ironic as that sounds.

-he could get used to this.

-so the romantic version basically starts out the same as the platonic one. he finds you annoying and weird, tries to avoid you but to no avail, etc.

-but when he starts to get used to you (and eventually get into a relationship) he tolerates you a lot more.

-sometimes when you’re going through you’re usually bursts of energy you’ll hug him tight and kiss all over his face. and the weird thing is? he lets you. because for some reason despite his complete opposite personality he’s grown to like you.

-the savoy twins like to tease him about it any chance they get. it annoys him but you’re always there to make him feel better.

-sometimes if he’s having a hard day he’ll let you talk to him about anything while he just lays there, listening to the sound of your voice.

-on particularly hard days he likes to cuddle with you ans maybe read, still letting you talk about your day or what’s on your mind.

-and sometimes you go through these things called ‘cute aggressions’ as you like to call them. it’s basically where you just grab his face and lightly squish his cheeks, beaming and kissing all over his face. he doesn’t understand it but it somehow makes him flustered.

-again you are still not safe from his snarky remarks, but there’s a lot less bite to them now. he’ll often say it with some sort of fondness. whenever you two are alone at least.

-he’ll often find himself staring at you as you ramble on, finding himself a little mesmerized by your beauty. if you catch him you’ll flash him a smile, making him look away with a blush and a grumble.

-overall you’ve become something he can’t live without, even if he doesn’t show it. he relies on you to make his bad days better and he’s come to appreciate the way you’re always sticking around him.

-how could he fall for someone like you? he’ll never know.

Tina's backstory is just… straight up sad.

Her and her parents were sent to be experimented on.

She lost her parents that way at a young age which broke her mind.

Now she's a hyperactive demolitions girl who originally sees Roland as a father figure.

Then of course when Roland dies she sees Brick and Mordecai as her parents.

You're most likely a Vault Hunter who comes across her during Borderlands 2.

I have a feeling Tina would get attached to you quickly.

She naturally seems attached to Vault Hunters due to her experiences with the Crimson Raiders.

When you're brought in to help take down Handsome Jack she naturally begins to trust you.

Even more so when you show care similar to a parent.

Maybe you get a bit drawn to her throughout your missions.

She's a lovable kid and you care for her and the Crimson Raiders.

Tina's attachment to you starts small.

It's waiting for just the right moment to sprout.

She knows she cares for you as some sort of parental figure but doesn't know just how much.

She's happy to be around you and gets excited when you show mutual care.

She probably doesn't start getting bad until Handsome Jack kills Roland and uses Lilith as a power source after Angel dies.

This is a blow she refuses to accept and it pushes her into denial.

She may deny Roland's death but there's certainly an effect on her.

Now she begins to fear losing you.

Her mind flashes to her parents… it flashes to Roland… the thought makes her twitchy.

You'll notice a change in the girl after the tragic event.

She is all of a sudden always around you and a bit trigger happy (more than usual).

She never brings up her fears but it's clear she's clingier.

Tina would be more clingy with you but never explains why.

She doesn't want to talk about it!

How about you both just play a game instead?

She just… wants to hang out with you!

Even when she comes to terms with Roland's death and sees Brick/Mordecai as her family… she never really lets you go.

No, she still sees you as a parent to her and she clings to the thought.

Tina refuses to lose anymore of her loved ones, especially you.

Her unhinged behavior is rather normal for her… although she does have some strange changes.

As she grows up she hates the idea of you taking your attention off her.

The idea of you leaving to find a romantic partner or even having a kid of your own…

It's selfish but she doesn't want that.

Tina wants you to be part of her family!

She wants you to parent her with Brick and Mordecai!

While the two try to tell Tina that letting you live your own life is for the best… she refuses.

Pre-Relationship Headcanons~

This was a very slow burn

Like the flame wasn't even there for yeeears

Mordecai is a very untrusting cat so it took him years to tolerate Viktor let alone trust him

When Mordecai realized he had feelings for Viktor he decided he would ignore them until they went away (they didn’t)

Viktor just had a very conflicting time falling in love again, lots of booze and staring at the ceiling later he accepts his fate

Neither are touchy

Neither wanted to admit feelings for each other

They both just kinda sat with their feelings hoping they would go away

Mitzi ended up picking up on their feelings

The whole speakeasy knew of their feelings but the two

After years of mutual trust building… Mordecai got drunk and spilled his heart out

Relationship Headcanons~

They are very awkward about the whole thing

Viktor is the only cat allowed to see drunk Mordecai

Drunk Mordecai will constantly ramble about how much he loves Viktor and so on

Once sober he will hide in his room from embarrassment

Viktor finds this amusing 

Mordecai is the only cat allowed to come up to Viktor on his blind side without getting murdered

They are very private so literally no one knew of their status as dating

Actually Zib managed to pick up on it, but its not his business so he doesn't care

No PDA 0 PDA both Mordecai and Viktor have a reputation to maintain and they don’t enjoy touches anyway

However occasionally after a bootlegging job they will intertwine tails with each other

First “kiss” was a spontaneous drunk Mordecai act of pecking Viktor’s cheek

Once he sobered up he didn’t show his face to Viktor for a week

One time after massacring a rival gang and both sitting in the car Viktor just took initiative and kissed Mordecai

Mordecai attempted and failed at hiding from Viktor by crawling into the backseat muttering about how he definitely did not enjoy that he enjoyed that

When arguing sometimes Viktor will switch to Slavic and Mordecai to Yiddish so neither will know what the other is yelling about

Viktor normally switches first and Mordecai switches out of pettiness

Mordecai could barely pull the trigger and after he kneecapped Viktor ran away and cried

Vikor felt very betrayed and very backstabbed

Mordecai felt very guilty and very sad

In the Marigold gang he’s grouchier, and skinnier and far more tired (not that anyone can tell)

Viktor is colder, and talks less even to Ivy

A part of Viktor resents Mordecai

Mordecai sometimes wishes that Viktor would just find him and put a bullet in his head he thinks he deserves it

Mordecai is scared to sleep since he tends to dream about kneecapping Viktor and wakes up scared

• Alright so you have been working at the park for some time now and have always felt something for skips. You finally got the courage and told him your feelings and was delightfully returned with the same back to you. (After something crazy that mordecai and Rigby did probably)

•Date wise I think skips would take you on short outdoor trips or go bowling with him,with the occasional wing kingdom.

•He likes it when you meditate with him or watch him workout (so you could see his muscles flex hehe. I could probably see him doing chest presses using you as the dumbbell.)

•Physical touch would probably be holding hands,pat on the back or shoulder (when you two are working) and cuddles! But only if you too are alone.

I ACTUALLY HAVE IDEAS FOR THIS ONE!!!!!

-I named him Usumbufu (annoyance/inconvenience)

-He’s just a bit younger than Pua, but the eldest since Makuu took over

-Was and still is a good friend of Pua’s. He definitely visits him the most out of everyone in the float next to Hodari. Pua appreciates the snacks he brings (like a wildebeest leg)

-He wasn’t the best with the hatchlings, but he of course tried to help raise them in any way he could. Pua is very grateful for that

-Like Hasira/the orange skink in Shupavu’s group, he’s seen some shit. But while Hasira’s experiences were more comical, his were more traumatic. He’s basically a war veteran for what he’s been through, tho he doesn’t like to talk about it

-Being the eldest, he always has a story to tell. All you have to do is ask him. Kinda nice to talk to someone once in a while, though don’t expect a heart to heart

-You know how Skips always says “yeah I’ve seen this before” before telling Mordecai and Rigby how to solve the problem? That’s him. He’s the Skips of the float

-He essentially opens up a bit to Hodari after the gecko asks him how he’s doing. One simple question, that’s all it took. And Hodari didn’t just listen, he was supportive too. While Bufu appreciates it, he just goes “ah you’re too good for this world”

-He will not lie, he got a little attached to Nduli. He wasn’t expecting to cuz they aren’t related, but Nduli reminds him of himself when he was younger: innocent and naive. He knows he shouldn’t care about Kiburi’s float bc of the trouble they caused, but he secretly hopes Nduli never changes

-So I’m kiiiiinda toying with a possible hc that he’s Makuu’s father? If I decide that, I won’t say he was a bad one but he…wasn’t the best. Ig he was too hard on Makuu in the past, which would probably explain his teaching methods. But then again, I still really like the idea that Pua was essentially the father figure in everyone’s lives

- Makuu’s new BFF since the rift with Kiburi. The two were always close, he just got an upgrade lol

-Very smart for a crocodile, as a parallel to Tamka’s stupidity

-The muscle of the group (also a parallel to Tamka’s weakness lol)

-Being bothered by smaller animals happens to him a lot. He doesn’t know why he has to be the unlucky one, but he is. He just wishes no one would bother him while he’s resting, is that too much to ask?

-Is always ready to attack. Potential food? Someone trying to pick a fight? Bring it on, asshole >:)

-Name: Majadiliano (talkative) but everyone calls him Maja

-The parallel to Neema. Neema only makes sounds and doesn’t actually talk, Maja usually doesn’t shut up when you talk to him jfhfhg

-Seriously he and Ucheshi once had a 2 hour long conversation about literally anything on their minds

-He’s more social than the rest of his float. He’s not making new friends anytime soon like Beshte does but it’s nice having someone to talk to. He’d make an excellent public speaker

-While not childish or immature by any means, he is a bit of a jokester and would play small pranks on his float members here and there on a slow day

-He was the crocodile that got his tail stuck under a rock, causing Makuu to hurt his leg in “The Little Guy” (which is canon). He felt incredibly guilty afterwards and kept apologizing profusely to Makuu, even offering to get him some food so he wouldn’t have to move much. While Makuu appreciates this, he claims he’s fine and tells Maja not to worry about it

Name: Wastani (average)

-He’s Wakali’s parallel: He’s the average joe, a role model, everything a croc should be. Don’t get him wrong, he’s fine with that, but he wants to be at least a LITTLE different. He wants to stand out, he wants to have a gimmick of his own. Just one thing, that’s all

-He’s currently trying to find said gimmick. Hasn’t had much luck, but he will….someday. Closest thing he has are his ideas that are actually pretty helpful

-He had the chance to talk with Wakali while she was training with Makuu. Wakali told him she wished she could be like him and he responded with how he wished the opposite. In a way, he played a small role in her journey to accept who she is by telling her to keep being different

-Guess he has a thing without realizing it: he helps animals. It’s not worldly advice but it’s the little things that count

And they all got Makuu’s back :)
