In my MCD rewrite, 17 year old Janus NoLastNameGiven looked at Irene's obsessive and violent boy toy (Mortal Edition) said "yeah I'll absorb that form of love into my belief system", and proceeded to become a Juror, going on to kill thousands. And you know what? Xavier would be proud.
#my version of Xavier (founder of jo9 incase you dont know) was very questionable morals wise#he saw Irene/Irini and went “i gotta kill for her”#he would be so proud#Janus truly understood why the jury was formed lmao#thats why theyre the Silver Death#minecraft diaries#janus the silver death#minecraft diaries rewrite#jury of nine#aphmau headcannons#mcd rewrite#xavier mcd#xavier the silver death#<- only in my rewrite but yeah

“You’ve probably been asked this question before, so to avoid being repetitive, could you please direct me to any previous posts you’ve made regarding Athenea del Castillo and why she’s so disliked/hated?”
rip my old blog where i had detailed breakdowns of all these players! 😭
sigh, where to start with athenea?! well, let's just do the highlights and keep in mind there's even more beyond this:
her sellout conduct with the spanish selection and "las 15" - she's one of the real madrid players who sided with the selection during las 15 and became a mouthpiece for rfef, vilda, and rubiales.
then in the aftermath of #se acabo, when all the active players, including other real madrid players, signed a letter to resign from the national team, athenea was one of 2 active players (the other being shei garcía) who refused to sign and said she accepted that certain demands were met and gave a "vote of confidence" to those in charge at rfef. 😵💫
after the rubiales trial, when several players like irene and aitana spoke out about it, athenea instead gave thanks to defendant jorge vilda for "giving her an opportunity with the national team."
oh and there's her fascist, right-wing boyfriend with whom she takes "nice" photoshoots in places like valle de los caídos, a literal monument to dictator franco. (vox mentioned below is a racist, right-wing, xenophobic, homophobic, everything-phobic political party in spain 🙄)
she even got a shoutout from known racist and fascist "journalist" unai cano about being "valiant" for standing up to feminists and for her morals by not signing the letter resigning from the national team and taking photos with fascist monuments:
bonus: she's an incredibly whiny player, who said that she would never play for barça even if it were the last team on earth. don't worry. we would never take you!

After finishing Doctor Who during Moffat's run, I think I see a pattern here for most (but not all) of his female characters choices in Doctor Who & Sherlock. I know people have already analyzed this before, but I want to do it myself so here we go.
There are primary three categories:
1. The first is the generic and the normal ones, according to him. Characters like Amy, Donna (silence in the library episode) from Doctor Who, Mary from Sherlock. These are the characters that will always stand with the good people, never straying, and whose life long dream is to settle down and have children. Mary of course is an outlier, because she had shot Sherlock and broke John's trust. But in the final season, it turned out that her hands had been forced, and she had been good all along.
For me, I think wanting to settle down to have a family of course is not necessarily a bad thing. I can't say for Mary and Amy because I couldn't relate to them personally, however, Donna's storyline in the Silence in the Library didn't sit well with me. When she was saved by the Computer, it sort of simulated a life that it thought she wanted. One where she had two beautiful children and a dotting husband. The problem here lies in the fact that she had been ridiculed and thought to be loud and brash and stupid all her life, and had been a temp for a long time. She literally ran to the TARDIS the second time she met the Doctor because she didn't like the life she had had, or the life her mom has been pressuring her to have. Can you see how reluctant she has been to pursue anything really? Do you really think her life-long dream, her secret desire is still to settle down and become a wife to someone? Maybe, but not before taking the chance to see the Universe with the Doctor. I actually have a feeling that finding a husband might have been on her list, but she could be doing that more out of obligation and societal expectations. Again, it's not a bad thing to want a family, but there's a recurring theme for his character choices that I can't help notice.
2. Second are the women who are smart and resourceful. These are the characters that are most of the time portrayed as sexy and intelligent, and most of all above all the others. Characters like Irene Adler and Mary (a little bit) in Sherlock, River and Clara in Doctor Who. I think there are many discussions we can have about the definition of strong, female, characters. However, I agree with many others that these women's lives all revolve around one man. And even if they are smart enough, we have to remember there will be one guy who can still tell them otherwise: which are Sherlock and the Doctor respectively.
3. The third type of women in Steven Moffat's writings are those who are too intelligent they become unpredictable and sometimes downright inhuman. Characters like Eurus in Sherlock, Missy in Doctor Who are in this category. They are extremely smart and morally questionable characters, and certainly, they have a lot of potential to explore. However, they are almost too smart that it becomes harder to relate to them. And since I don't think Moffat really knows how to deal with them, they are either put in a cage when they are being "naughty", or out of the cage at their male counterpart's side when they finally decide to stand with them, to be "good".
By the way, there is one addition that I think is relevant. It is fucking funny that with the way he wrote these women, they are most of the time too put together to really have any story to tell. From first glance, you wouldn't be able to really see what their backgrounds were like and what's on their minds, and as the story progressed nothing really developed. Since this is not good for story telling, he would give you some (in my opinion) unnecessary stories to compensate the lack of substances, such as family drama TM (the whole John and Mary arguments), or the boyfriend drama TM (why didn't you approve my choice of a boyfriend, Doctor? & OMG my boyfriend just been run over by cars because I said "I love you" to him). Those back and forth we didn't really see coming to distract us from the facts. However, this makes a lot of the stories feel disjointed and the time jump between episodes sometimes doesn't make sense. Also when the dramas are added, some audience (normally cis straight guys) can be like look, the main guys don't really care to deal with them and in comparison are way cooler, these girls just needed to be put in their places.
In conclusion, most of the women written by him are either categorized as:
(1) normal girls will -> get pregnant
(2) Smart & sexy powerful women will -> get beaten by the main character (who are always white, more superior and smarter)
(3) Unpredictable brainiacs (who deserve better) will-> get put into dungeons and cages 'cause they are crazy and "bad" (as in their beliefs are not aligned with the hero's). Oh and sometimes they can be sexy, too
#doctor who#sherlock bbc#amy pond#donna noble#mary morstan#irene adler#river song#clara oswald#eurus holmes#missy doctor who#female characters#steven moffat#btw the tenses are whacked here but whatever#my own observations#character study#you can argue that his main focus is still the male characters#but is it so hard to write a more relatable ones#once in a while

Letters from Watson Interlude: Publication Order
AKA Watson's grieving process: part 2 The first short story published is A Scandal in Bohemia. And when it comes to easily verifiable facts, the story is a mess. Watson has either erred on the date of the story in question, or the date of his own marriage. He may have prudent reasons for obscuring the details such as the exact identity of the client and the date of the case, and it was common in novels of the 1800's to either elide names or change them to protect the innocent the author from social or legal push-back. Much as a modern brit might be reduced to tweeting that Mrs. R------ is a raving bigot that has set feminism back half a century, in order to express themselves without risking a ruinous libel suit, a novelist might label a character Lady S, or make up a fictional location for a nobleman to be the lord of. But given that Scandal was published in June of 1891, and Reichenbach was April 24, a mere month ago, it's also probable he was just a mess overall. He had to put something into the world to eulogize his best friend, and he chose to first put before the world that above all, Holmes was fallible. And that far from seeking fame or currying favor from the wealthy and powerful, he was kind. He could have continued to follow Irene Adler, and been paid handsomely for it, but when he saw that she had no bad intentions, he let her go.
(He could have let Moriarty go. But that would have been inconsistent with his morals, and those morals that Watson shares are one of the cornerstones of their relationship.) Watson may not have known that he was writing the first of many stories, a two and a half year, twenty four part eulogy, but he chose to start with a story of reunion. He has seen little of Holmes since his marriage, and his return to his profession, yet he is overcome with missing him the moment he sees their front door. And despite how long it's been, he is immediately welcome, immediately appreciated, vital to Holmes' life and profession. Holmes' contempt for romance and rejection of the conventional married life that Watson enjoys has not actually driven them apart. The place and the person that have been Watson's home for most of his adult life so far are not closed to him: he doesn't have to give up the most important relationship in his life to gain another.
It's an intense contrast to the estrangements that characterize the beginnings of Study and Sign: the account of how Watson lost his health, profession, and direction, and the scene with his deceased and long estranged brother's watch. At the beginning of Scandal Watson has everything: his practice, his happy marriage, his brother in arms. At the end he has the assurance that Holmes, even though he doesn't experience or personally value romantic love, sees value in it for others - Irene Adler, yes, but also Watson.
Whether the case occurred nearly exactly as described, with the exception of changed names and a flubbed date, or whether Watson was stitching together multiple incidents and multiple cases into a reconstruction, it's undoubtedly highly colored by Watson's grief. It sets the pattern for the rest of Watson's stories: the next six stories are relatively recent, set during Watson's marriage. They all open with Watson visiting, Watson dropping in unexpectedly, Watson stumbling across Holmes where he didn't expect him. It's as if Watson cannot shake the idea that if he just goes back to Baker Street, Holmes will be there.
Eventually (February) Watson is able to write a case that does not strongly imply that he still expects to stumble across Holmes on Baker Street. He goes back to one of their earliest cases, with a clear agenda: Holmes was a hero and a champion of the abused. (Speckled Band, later Copper Beeches.) From there, he builds. Holmes kept people from being falsely accused. (Beryl Coronet.) Holmes wanted to help people even when there was not, strictly speaking, a crime. (Noble Bachelor.) Holmes was important to both the wealthy and powerful and to everyone else. Holmes was brilliant long before I knew him yet he is still mine to write about. (Gloria Scott, Musgrave Ritual.)
And two and a half years later, either having run through his favorites or finally feeling like he'd said enough, he picked up his pen to write The Final Problem.

Valeria Garza (Call of Duty)
Alicent Hightower (House of the Dragon)
God forbid women have hobbies
Aelis (Kaamelott)
Pyrrha Dve (The Locked Tomb)
Also, she's a butch
Mention honorable :
Mel Medarda (Arcane)

She had a child trough surrogacy at 68. The average life span for Spainish women is 83. Meaning she could be dead before the kid is 18. And even if she does live to see her second kid reach adult hood. She's going to be handling an elementary school age kid in her 70s, and 86 when she's 18 and old enough to try for her drivers license.
Spanish Actress Ana Obregón Faces Backlash for Surrogacy Decision
May 25, 2024 F. Salau
Renowned Spanish actress Ana Obregón has ignited a firestorm of criticism after revealing that she welcomed a daughter through surrogacy in the United States at the age of 68.
The revelation has sparked debate and raised questions about the legality and morality of surrogacy in Spain.
A Respected Actress
Ana Obregón is widely known for her roles in various Spanish comedies, earning her a place in the hearts of audiences across the country.
However, her decision to pursue surrogacy has drawn both admiration and condemnation from the public and political figures alike.
A Tragic Loss
Obregón’s decision to pursue surrogacy comes in the wake of a devastating personal tragedy.
In 2020, she tragically lost her only son to cancer at the young age of 27. Since then, she has been candid about her grief and her determination to find hope and joy amidst the pain.
Surrogacy in Spain
Spain has strict laws regarding surrogacy, prohibiting all forms of the practice within its borders.
However, parents who undergo surrogacy abroad can legally adopt the child upon their return to the country. This legal loophole has sparked debate and controversy in recent years.
The Ethics of Surrogacy
Surrogacy, the practice of a woman carrying and giving birth to a child for another person or couple, is a complex and controversial issue.
While it can bring joy and fulfillment to those unable to conceive naturally, it also raises ethical questions about exploitation, commodification of women’s bodies, and the rights of the child.
Ana Obregón’s Revelation
Ana Obregón’s decision to share her surrogacy journey publicly has ignited a fierce debate in Spain.
Her appearance on the cover of Hola! magazine, cradling her newborn daughter outside a Florida hospital, has drawn both praise and condemnation from various quarters.
A Divisive Response
Obregón’s Instagram post, in which she expressed gratitude for the “loving light” that entered her life, has divided opinion on social media.
While some have praised her courage and resilience, others have criticized her decision as morally questionable and socially irresponsible.
Political Reactions
Politicians in Spain have also weighed in on the controversy, with members of the left-wing administration condemning Obregón’s actions.
Minister of Education Pilar Alegra likened her departure from the hospital to a descent into hell, while Minister of Equality Irene Montero characterized surrogacy as a form of aggression against women.
Legal and Moral Implications
The debate surrounding surrogacy in Spain touches upon complex legal, moral, and ethical issues.
While some advocate for stricter regulations and outright bans, others argue for a more nuanced approach that balances the rights of intended parents, surrogate mothers, and children born through surrogacy.
Conclusion: A Call for Dialogue
As the debate over surrogacy continues to unfold in Spain, it is clear that there are no easy answers to the complex questions it raises.
What is needed is a thoughtful and respectful dialogue that takes into account the perspectives of all stakeholders involved.
Only through open and honest discussion can Spain hope to navigate the challenges posed by surrogacy in the modern world.
#Spain#anti surrogacy#Babies are not commodities#Using surrogacy to replace a dead child#Ana Obregón#I feel sorry for her loss but an adoption agency would not have approved her#Surrogacy being used by people who would have been rejected by adoption agencies#International surrogacy is human trafficking#I hope she has a legal guardian for the kid lined up case she dies or has age related drastic quality of life changes

Hi.... If you don't mind me asking, can I ask, what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series/games/etc) and your top 10 favorite characters from any media ? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this questions before....
Oh, this is going to be long, and the list sometimes changes depending on my mood, but here are my favorite media (not ranked, because I can't make myself decide which ones I like best):
The list is under the cut.
Nirvana in Fire (TV show)
Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (both the books and the movies)
Leverage (TV show)
One Piece (manga/anime)
Night Watch by Terry Pratchett (all Discworld books, actually, but this one is my favorite)
Tai Sui by Priest (Chinese web novel)
Beyond Evil (TV show)
Queen's Thief by Megan Whalen Turner (book series)
Gintama (anime)
Trash of the Count's Family (Korean web novel)
And as for my favorite characters, choosing them is so hard. I limited myself to one character per media (I usually like media for the characters, and that means that, if allowed, I would just name all One Piece or Nirvana in Fire characters and be done with it). So here they are, in no particular order:
Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece) — I love how completely self-assured he is. Monkey D. Luffy knows who he is, knows what he wants, and does not hesitate to go for it. His confidence is astounding, and his adamant faith in himself and his crew is inspiring.
Consort Jing (Nirvana in Fire) — A living embodiment of the sayings 'still waters run deep' and 'silk hiding steel'. At first sight, she seems a quiet and submissive character, but the more you watch, the more you realize she is always the smartest person in the room. Calm and placid, but also resolute and clever, she is ready to do whatever she needs to get the results he wants.
Attolia Irene (Queen's Thief) — I love her character development and the way it never actually judges her for her cold and ruthless nature. She did what she had to, to ensure her own survival and the survival of her country, but it was done at the cost of her own humanity. The way she slowly learns what having friends and family means without ever being condemned for her ruthlessness and pragmatism is so great.
Sam Vimes (Discworld) — The first time we meet him, he is a prejudiced, foul drunkard a step away from his own grave. But he learns, and he gets better, always. He, very slowly and very painfully, recognizes his flaws, looks his prejudices in the eye and unlearns them with the dogged insistence of a man who believes he has to be better. He's flawed, but his moral backbone is made of steel, and cannot be bent or broken. He's what policemen would be, in an ideal world.
Cale Henituse (Trash of the Count's Family) — He just has such a range. He's the smartest person in the room. He's a self-sacrificing dumbass. He's a war criminal. He's a loving father of 3 to 15 children. He's weak. He's strong enough to beat a dragon. He hates the gods. He's on his way to godhood. He has all the trauma. Truly, the most character ever.
Sakata Gintoki (Gintama) — I once saw him described as 'a shōnen character who failed his shōnen journey and now has to live with it', and that is so correct. Does he have depression and PTDS? Yes, definitely. Is that going to stop him from eating parfaits and adopting kids? No. He's just going to have to deal with it, and live his life, and protect the people he cares about. And then he does.
Wen Jianyan (Welcome to the Nightmare Live) — An absolute bastard of a man. A liar and a thief. I love watching him put his foot in his mouth several times in every single chapter. Both the smartest person in the room, and an absolute dumbass. Would kill a man.
Parker (Leverage) — Autistic. Clever, and caring, and traumatized (but not autistic because of the trauma). The best thief in the world, and what would happen if a stray cat gained a human form. Slowly learns what it means to be a part of a family, and she loves it. Stabbed a man with a fork once.
Phryne Fisher (Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries) — An independent, glamorous and unflappable lady detective. Bold, aggressive or charming and sneaky as the situation requires. She loves life and new experiences, is respectful and caring towards everyone she meets, always treating others with sympathy and care.
Murderbot (The Murderbot Diaries) — A bot-human construct who claims to hate emotions and socializing but can't stop itself from repeatedly adopting different groups of humans and then risking its life to keep them safe. It is just so relatable. Socially anxious, hates talking about its feelings, would rather spend its days watching trashy dramas but is forced, by the consequences of its own decisions, to be the bodyguard of every person it meets. Snarky internal commentary, even while it's being shot at. I love it.

I read volume 6 of Moriarty the Patriot.

The rest of that. I'll start with the simplest.
The French Revolution
I am French. I'm not going to talk about it.
This is going to piss me off.
(Here to understand)
The legend of the Lord of Crime
Is the Lord of Crime already known? Oh? Since when ? How ?
This is what I wanted to see when reading this manga. To know all the facets, strategies and consequences of Moriarty's plan. There is no slow evolution of the public becoming aware of its existence, it just appears all of a sudden.
How was this legend “born”? Has anyone noticed that awful nobles often get attacked? Are people just getting excited over what could be simple coincidences? Was it Moriarty and co. who propagated this idea in the press?
There are already bets on who will win between Sherlock (a person who exists and who has novels about him) and the "Lord of Crime" (a mere rumor). It's one thing to ask the question as a joke, it's another to gamble with money.
This is the point that makes me say Sherlock is here too soon. The time given to him should have been given to the creation of the 'Lord of Crime'.
Especially since the author does nothing except humiliate him to highlight Moriarty. This character is better than that.
Moriarty's death
The bad guy loses. In almost every story, this is how it works.
This is why it is very difficult to call them Mary-Sue even though they are very powerful and competent. First, because the threat must be credible, and second, because they are destined to fall from their pedestal. Mary-Sues don't fall.
Am I dreaming or the author made Moriarty's death a victory on his part?
Moriarty loses to Sherlock. In his arrogance, he does not suspect for a second that Sherlock could do something he had not planned, which is to say kill himself.
And Sherlock survives! Not Moriarty.
Except that here, it will no longer be a defeat. It will be a choice, a victory and a sacrifice (generally, when Mary-Sues die early, it is through sacrifice, very rarely anything else).
The manga basically buried any chance of Sherlock beating Moriarty. All he can get are meager victories.
(It's technically possible to add stakes by turning the tables, but the author has shown that he's not ready to tarnish Moriarty, especially for Sherlock.)
It's stupid that the manga sells us a duel while already revealing the winner.
Irene
So Irene Adler was just all full of bluster...
Ok. Great for our major female character I guess.
She ultimately got beaten by Sherlock Holmes - as I predicted (and as in the majority of adaptations where she appears) - BUT only after it was revealed that she was an amateur. Not even by William, but his brother.
The worst of the three options I proposed rolled into one. The only ones who emerge with their image intact are Moriarty and his gang. Again.
And really, for her to then be manipulated by Sherlock, who has been far from brilliant up to this point, just after being completely led around by the nose by Albert Moriarty and letting herself be completely dominated by him, makes her look like a huge idiot.
From the beginning, Irene had no idea what she was doing and accidentally screwed up all by herself, and the resolution is given to men who don't have a paternalistic attitude towards her at all. Very similar to the original story where 1) Irene does not create the problem 2) solves the problem on her own.
And then finally, she puts herself at the service of Moriarty. Second cliché associated with Irene which makes no sense. The only one she escapes is the romance with Sherlock, but I see that more as the author didn't want Sherlock's attention to shift away from Moriarty and the Lord of Crime.
This Irene really is not “The Woman.”
"The Woman"
Let's talk about it. This Irene does not deserve this title. It almost seems like a mockery, but given the rest of the author's work, he probably has no idea what he's talking about.
The original Irene obtains it by beating Sherlock intellectually and morally, masterfully without him realizing it.
Here, Sherlock understood that she was trying to manipulate him - he just wasn't competent/clever enough not to get trapped (even though his brother had warned him. How can such a genius not make the connection between his brother's strange warning and his next investigation? He doesn't know how to add 2+2?). He’s even the one who “saves” her*.
In the original, Irene doesn't need Sherlock to be there to make sure she's okay. She manages on her own. She creates her happy ending all by herself. Yes, she has her husband. But she doesn't need him, she loves him. If he wasn't there, she wouldn't die.
Whereas here, Irene needs Moriarty and Sherlock.
Speaking of which, from where does William Moriarty talk about “The Woman”? What does he know about them? He's a seer? He's stalking Sherlock? It's just ridiculous that he knows the impact Irene has on Sherlock. Especially since it's not deserved since she's only an amateur and not the exceptional genius like in the original.
*Sherlock is technically useless, we know that the Moriartys are nice and that Irene is safe. And seeing as Moriarty and co. knows everything Sherlock is going to do (even the fake cops) and it's not even a revelation (it's said before that they expect it), Sherlock looks stupid. Especially since he himself admits that Moriarty is stronger.
Alternately
What if Irene Adler was a neutral party after beating Sherlock AND Moriarty at their game? Both would underestimate her because she is a seemingly naive and frivolous woman. Whether they wanted to use her or get something from her, she was actually the one who used and manipulated them, and they don't find out until it's too late.
Even better if both used her to compete with each other. And in the end, both lose. It would also have had the advantage of reminding them that they are not unbeatable (ESPECIALLY Moriarty).
We could have taken the opportunity to address the problem of the place of women in the society of that time (and perhaps a little aside on theater actors because that wasn't crazy either).
We could have addressed the image of women, violence against women, sexual violence against women (the only mention in the manga is to show that the nobleman responsible for this is horrible, but it says nothing about women or the crime itself). It may be horrible, but it's a manga where a child goes out his eye with a spoon and then gets decapitated with his little sister.
We could have talked about the feminist movements that the government sought to fight and destroy.
We could have had Sherlock and Moriarty, although defenders of equality, underestimate Irene BECAUSE she is a woman, and learn the lesson at a high price.
We could have had Irene be the most intelligent character in the series, even if in the background because it's none of her business. (In Miyazaki's Sherlock, he himself says that Mrs. Hudson is the most intelligent character in the series. So it would not be a first for a side AND female character to be more intelligent than the main characters.)
Irene could be a tasty in-between Moriarty and Sherlock. She doesn't kill but has no problem being extremely manipulative and can enter into very dark areas of society. Publicly, she could give her money to artists and causes she wants to support, and in the shadows extract and exploit the powerful for her goals of equality.
Narratively, she could appear to help or give clues to the heroes without involving herself.
We could even use it for the Lord of Crime mystery:
Irene doesn't know who he is, because Moriarty uses the fact that he failed with her to hide his identity. So his embarrassing defeat isn't entirely an embarrassing defeat and there is potentially a second person who can discover his secret without him choosing to reveal it.
She knows (even if it is never explicit) because Moriarty was stupid enough to underestimate her and even if she is not interested in revealing the truth, she is a potential danger and cannot be manipulated/used like Sherlock, so Moriarty hesitates to kill an innocent woman. It would make a good moral dilemma.
It's really frustrating to see the potential of this manga being squandered at every turn because the author hasn't thought beyond “my favorite characters must be cool”. Even if it means butchering other characters
#It's funny how a series that sells itself as intelligent and complex is completely stupid and full of facile ideas#yuukoku no moriarty#moriarty the patriot#sherlock holmes#sherlock#critic#moriarty the patriot critical

Do you think the Rubiales Verdict will make players more likely to report bad stuff or less likely? I'm not sure what it means. I'm not Spanish.
wow, now that is a loaded question! while i think we can all agree that there was a certain moral victory here, what does this verdict mean in reality with spanish players and rfef? when we talk about what is going to happen "on the ground," then i would say no, players are going to think twice about reporting anything. 🙃
here's why i think that:
first, it's pretty telling that there were no words of support at all for jenni after the verdict from montse, the manager of the national team, who was more than content to never speak of it again during a press conference yesterday. the judge did not think jenni being excluded from the national team was punishment or retaliation as a form of coercion, so rfef can continue its punitive measures. basically if you speak out, you are on your own…
there are serious consequences for players who speak up. we saw what happened with jenni and her football career in spain. we saw what they did to misa rodríguez. they are trying to do the same with irene paredes. irene even said at the press conference yesterday: "the reality is that today i am here, i am still part of the group of captains. tomorrow, if i tell you the truth, i don't even know if i'm going to play, so we'll see." and we will have to keep an eye on the rest.
jenni and her family have received death threats, and the abuse is constant. rubiales' sentence says he needs to stay away from jenni for 1 year. and then after that? what is to prevent that puto calvo or any of his associates from harassing jenni? there isn't any mechanism in place.
rubiales' assault of jenni was televised around the world and we have multiple angles of it and so much evidence against him, and yet the fine imposed is the lowest one contemplated for this type of crime. the statement from futpro is true. this sets a "worrying precedent" that "sexual assault can have negligible economic consequences for the aggressor." so players are debating whether it is "worth it" to speak up.
further, the judge in his statement said that this assault was not one of a supervisor harassing his subordinate. then what was it? if this is not someone in a position of power taking advantage of his subordinate, then i don't know what is. so if this is the kind of impunity given to rfef leaders in the open with millions of viewers, then you can imagine what will happen behind closed doors.
finally, it’s expensive for the player. the judge ruled that rubiales has to pay for 50% of jenni’s legal costs and the rest she has to pay out of pocket herself. lawyers are not cheap.
tl;dr it's pretty clear that if players want a career with the national team, then they need to keep quiet and just play football. rfef wants more olga carmonas (look how she was rewarded for being a loyal soldier that her image is on the new kits!) and fewer jennis, irenes and misas. 🤷♀️

For the worldbuilding of MCD how good do you interpret their knowledge of medicine as being? I don't remember if any other characters besides Irene/Aphmau have specifically healing magic that they perform (besides from maybe potions.) Do you think the majority of healers have magics or that maybe doctors of old studied Irene and her abilities and were somehow able to come up with new inventions in the field that the average non-magic person could use? Fictional healthcare is always interesting.
ooh you had me thinking hard about this one.
For one thing, I think progress in health care varies a bit by region. I'll make things easier by focusing mostly on Ru'Aun so I don't go off into a tangent. I'd say as a quick, rough comparison their probably up to 15-16th century standards as a whole. They understand certain things/activities/conditions make people unwell but they likely don't have a lot of scientific reasoning as to why.
Seeing as how persecuted magicks users are and the fact magicks cannot be learned, I'd say that the number of pure magick healers (like Aphmau's level of potency to just vanish wounds) in the region is pretty low. I could see these types of healers into two broad categories: I think the first would find safety as personal healers to high ranking noble families seeing they would likely be given their own security team plus the chance to live in relative comfort. The second type would be travelling healers- ones that would keep their power and identity on the down-low and just go from village to village performing miracles where they could. This would be a lot more dangerous but also morally-sound as they aren't being exclusive about who they heal and receive little if any payment.
We already know magick is an inherited trait, it's not something that can be taught, this leaves the only viable mix for medicine and magic (if I don't use the k assume I'm talking about the broader sense of the word) to be witchcraft and/or alchemy or something a bit more in-between. What interesting about this topic is that real world medicine/healing has had an underlying connotation of something magical/otherworldly for literally the entirety of human history up until, like, a couple of centuries ago. So I think the real question should be at what point do the Ru'Aunians separate natural remedy from the magical, or do they bother to separate it at all? Is it different depending on what part of Ru'Aun you live in? At what point does a cough syrup get the label of potion or elixir, or are all concoctions that affect the body given the potion treatment?
Personally, I haven't really decided on anything specific yet. My guess is that it's a very hybridized field where they don't make a whole lot of differentiation/hard classification on which medicines are natural and which are magic. You may have doctors performing witchcraft without them even realizing it and/or witches who sell the equivalent of tylenol in the bottle next to their nightvision and invisibility potions.
Also I'm just now realizing I brought up the subject of alchemy that I kinda wanted to expand upon but I might just save that for another time.

I recently saw a site on Google, that discussed what would be the ideal woman for Sherlock. That evoked question, does he really need an extraordinary woman ? With being stated that his only bestfriend is a humble doctor. He might actually like someone normal. That site had this argument that molly is better choice than irene in terms of BBC and I do agree. Yet I think in my head he doesn't want any of those.
For him my headcanon ideal woman is someone who's intelligent. Not genius consulting detective or consulting criminal. Who's normal. Like molly get's this point because she's pathologist, someone highly educated and efficient in her job. So someone who's educated and ambitious, I think he'd like a woman with purpose. A woman who's not just a house wife. She would also have a side hobby like he has his violin, she would have conversation with him, intellectual infront of people, rubbish in private. My headcanon she'd insist him to watch Disney films too. Yeah so someone pretty normal. She'd have her own style, and whatever it is Sherlock wouldn't want her to change, though he'd prefer natural beauty than superficial. So someone who is beautiful to him without makeup but whenever she does makeup he won't be able to look away. It's absolutely stupid of me to think he'd love a bit of childishness. Like he'd love to cuddle her, someone who'll take care of him. A normal woman who wouldn't take advantage of his vulnerability, someone who'd listen to his stories. But also a woman who's not clingy, who would give him enough space. I know I mentioned Disney movies but I think he won't like someone too soft and toooo romantic. I would like someone with him who's romantic but not too much. Now she has to be someone who'd stand up for herself. Not someone who has to be told what's right and what's wrong. Someone who has her own morals and stands by it. Also someone who would listen to him, praise him like he would. Advice him and most importantly support him. Wouldn't mind being the supporting role of Sherlock's story. And when it's her turn to be the main character, in her field of work or in life in general, Sherlock would love to stand behind and say "you're the main character, and I love to be your side kick". Basically they would let eachother shine when it's their turn. So in a nutshell, an ordinary woman, with a bit of ambition (good one like getting a good job and all not any criminal intention) also humble and would always support him, kind and intelligence, a bit childish, like talking all the time or liking stuffs that are simple and cute, so someone who's sweet. So someone innocent. After facing notoriety through the day he'd love to come home and be welcomed by a smile, a warm hug and lots of warm love.
Now since it's Sherlock he'd love to have some with whom he can argue logically. So bonus , she must be logical.
That's my big rant. What's your headcanon ideal woman for Sherlock?
