MOON -1 | BLOOD MOON
SOLITUDE | PART ONE
part one | part two | part three
Tumblr media
“Stay right there.”
Poolgleam’s firmly cold voice commanded Leappaw into complacency. So it did for the others, as well; Serpentkit squeezed his way under Leappaw’s belly and stood there, shivering from both cold and fear. Irispaw wrapped his tail around Bushkit, who mewled a few faint words that Leappaw couldn’t precisely make out.
Poolgleam fixes them all with a stare, a hollow stare, that eats up Leappaw’s heart despite how many times he’s seen it so far. The five of them were stopped at the front of a very imposingly tall barrier made of some kind of gray, shiny material, something he’d never seen before. “Stay right there.”
Leappaw realized Poolgleam wanted a response. “Okay,” Leappaw meowed slowly, shifting his paws in the thin layer of new snow.
Poolgleam’s stare remained a few gaping moments longer before he turned, hooking his claws into the square gaps of the barrier and hoisting himself upward. Leappaw watched his ascent, closer and closer to the tips of the treetops and the bleeding red sky with every grunt and every kick of his legs. At last, he reached the top of the barrier; then Poolgleam jumped down, landing on the other side of the barrier with a slight wobble in his legs.
Leappaw continued to watch Poolgleam as he walked further away without another glance back. He walked into the open clearing of the bordered place, glancing around a few times. Mostly at the very large things that were present here- yet again things Leappaw had never seen, but at least heard of, this time. Monsters, he remembers them being called?
Leappaw turned his head over his shoulder to look at Irispaw. Irispaw is just staring at the ground. “Hey, Iris,” he prompted, “those are monsters, right?”
Irispaw blinks once, then looks up. The bags under his eyes are miserable. He followed Leappaw’s gaze back into the clearing full of giant things, and nodded slowly. “Yeah. Those are monsters.” A minute later, Irispaw added very quietly, “…poppa told me all ‘bout ‘em.”
Then he’s staring back at the ground again. Leappaw frowns. Irispaw looked like he’d aged moons in just a week. Leappaw, though he wanted to say he was any better, could share the same feeling. He was sure that Poolgleam did, too. And he could only hope that Serpentkit nor Bushkit felt that way. But, looking at them…
Serpentkit cried. There was more time that he was crying than he wasn’t. And though Bushkit still had the peppy energy he always did, Leappaw could painfully tell when it waned. They were both so young. They didn’t deserve to have to deal with this like he and Irispaw and Poolgleam did.
But neither did the three of them deserve it. None of them did.
A long, echoing shriek rips through the otherwise silent night. The beast doesn’t sound very close, but Leappaw subconsciously pressed himself closer to the strange barrier. So did Irispaw, and the kits moved with them, whimpering. “…scary. Scary. Scary,” Serpentkit kept whispering.
“It’s okay, Serp. I’m protecting you, remember?” Leappaw murmured back, sweeping his tail a little closer. “I have you. You’re fine.”
“Scary,” Serpentkit doesn’t respond otherwise.
Irispaw’s shoulders brushed against Leappaw’s flank before Irispaw laid down next to him, folding his legs in and wrapping his tail around Bushkit. Irispaw heaved a shaking sigh. Leappaw’s frown only grew deeper.
He looked back into the place past the barrier, still staring at all the monsters. Poolgleam was out of sight, but just when Leappaw’s heart was beginning to pound, he came back into the open clearing. And then Poolgleam dashed right into a big wound in one of the monsters, disappearing inside it. Leappaw watched him do this several times; in, out, in, out, in, out, checking all the different monsters. All of them different colors, most sharing a similar body shape and patterns.
Finally, it seems that Poolgleam has finished checking all the monsters’ wounds, bounding back out of the last one and toward the barrier. Now, though, his attention landed on a twisting red tendril that on one end fixed itself to the top of the barrier, and on the other end to the bottom of the barrier, though more off to the side. He tugged at the bottom end of the tendril until it came loose from the barrier, then he started to move backward, still tugging hard at it.
Leappaw watched with complete fascination as, despite the apparent difficulty given Poolgleam’s struggle, the barrier slowly moved backward along with the tendril’s direction. Poolgleam only moved it back about a tail-length wide before he let go of the tendril, panting slightly. Then, he finally looked at them all, muttering out, “In.”
Leappaw led the way, making sure Serpentkit stayed under his belly as he slunk into the little space Poolgleam’s effort had created. Then Bushkit came after him, then Irispaw. The four of them looked at Poolgleam and his ever-hollow expression.
Poolgleam gave only a slight nod, before moving past them and toward the barrier. With his head now, he pushed it to close the gap. He took the bottom end of the tendril yet again and secured it as it had been before. When he was done with that, his eyes turned distantly to stare at one of the monsters, and he flicked his tail in an order to follow. The four of them followed as Poolgleam led them into the monster’s open wound.
Leappaw had heard before that monsters were weird, hollow, and soulless beings with no organs and guts, instead bearing a really odd internal structure- and what he was seeing now sure fit what he’d been told by the elders. Inside this monster, it was very empty, with a few heightened protrusions on its sides and similar parts above those protrusions that hung instead from the top of the monster’s insides. Some parts of its insides seemed to divide off into small caves. At the very rear of the monster’s inside, raised off the ground by thin, shiny legs, was a thick thing that looked like it had a soft texture, then something he recalled was probably a ladder, then yet another of the thick things suspended even higher up by the same shiny stick legs.
Poolgleam padded toward it, Leappaw and the others following after him. He gestured with a sharp tilt of his head, and the four of them sprang up onto the thick thing. It was in fact soft; perhaps even softer than moss. Much more loose than moss, though; its thin coat shifted with every little move of his paws. Bushkit discovered with a gasp that this thick thing’s pelt could be lifted up, but it didn’t bleed, only falling back into place once Bushkit let it go.
Irispaw took to curling up quickly on the thinpelt, followed by Serpentkit, who was still murmuring something nonsensical. And while Bushkit was just testing out how far up the thinpelt could be lifted, Leappaw looked down at Poolgleam. Poolgleam looked back up at him.
“Stay here. I’ll be back,” Poolgleam said.
Leappaw’s brows furrowed. “Where are you going?”
“I’ll be back,” Poolgleam didn’t elaborate. He turned around and left through the monster’s wound.
Tumblr media
Leappaw stared after him for a while- even through a part of the monster that was strangely see-through. Poolgleam headed back toward the barrier. Then he began to climb it again. Is he leaving us? Why is he leaving?
“Poolgleam!” Leappaw shouted aloud, unintentionally. Irispaw startled.
“What—”
Leappaw whipped his head around to face Irispaw. “Poolgleam’s leaving!”
“What?!” Irispaw exclaimed with far more alarm this time, back on his paws in an instant. He streaked out of the monster’s wound and Leappaw followed him, barely able to hear the cries of Serpentkit and Bushkit as they left so suddenly.
But by the time Leappaw and Irispaw made it back to the barrier, all they could do was watch as Poolgleam disappeared into the darkness in the woods beyond.

Your chef Sun is so interesting to me. If he ever has a crush he will deny it, right? Or not acknowledge it at all. Or maybe, I wonder if he'll be confused?
hehehe great question! i think he would be confused but... i think he would realize something about himself, just a little spark of something new and unfamiliar but something that's confused him for a long time now

*this is a memory of the DCA's late Boss, the previous owner of the restaurant they now own

BONUS:
Tumblr media
a little context below the cut (cuz this post is long enough already!)
The DCA's late Boss was the previous owner of the restaurant. he was the one who found them after their PizzaPlex fell to ruin, and he brought them in and taught them how to cook. he's sort of a pseudo-father-figure to them.
he was a very passionate guy, he loved cooking and loved his late wife. and that piqued Sun's curiosity—to love someone even after they have passed. so along with teaching the boys how to cook, he also taught Sun about love. of course, Sun struggled to understand, but Boss always believed Sun would some day.

MOON -1 | BLOOD MOON
SOLITUDE | PART THREE
part one | part two | part three
Tumblr media
Beside Leappaw, Irispaw and Bushkit laid comfortably in a sleeping pile, with Serpentkit curled up next to them. Leappaw sat at the edge of what he decided now to call the softbody, staring out the see-through part of the monster. His gaze was frozen on the crimson sky and the glittering stars, and the blood-red moon sunk at the edge of the horizon.
He couldn’t sleep. He was exhausted, but he couldn’t sleep. Worry bit at his nerves and kept him awake, waiting for any kind of sign that Poolgleam would return soon.
Leappaw rose to his paws and jumped off the softbody, landing with a quiet thmmp and padding toward the monster’s open wound. It was snowing outside now, though only slightly. He stepped out onto the white ground and walked toward the center of the clearing.
“Poolgleam,” he murmured aloud, sitting again in the snow. “Where are you? Please… come back soon. Please.”
A sudden gust of wind blew around Leappaw, rustling all his fur and sending a cold chill through his body. Then, he heard a voice whisper,
“Worry not, young cat. Your cleric will be home soon.”
Leappaw jumped back up, staring around with wide eyes. “H- Hello?” he called out, “Who’s there? What—”
“Open your eyes to new horizons,” the strange voice called back again, echoing all around him from nowhere in particular. “But beware of what you have not yet seen.”
Fur puffed up with alarm, Leappaw cried, “Wait, what does that mean?!”
“Your path ahead is full of danger, devastation, and disaster.” His ears pinned against his head. The world felt like it was whirling around him, like he was somewhere else entirely. Like he was in a dream. He had to sit down so he wouldn’t fall over. “Keep your loved ones close and you will survive this. Keep us in your thoughts, and do not wait any longer.”
Tumblr media
The chill dissipated. He stared off blankly, huffing with shock. Only when he regained his composure did he keep the words repeating in his mind. I have to remember this, I have to tell Poolgleam. Was that a message from the Cosmos?
Leappaw stared up at the sky again. A lone star streaked through the dark night.
It has to be.
-----
“Hey.”
Leappaw jumped from his sleep immediately with a light yelp. It took him a second to remember where he was before he realized he was on top of the softbody again, head laid on top of Irispaw’s back. Irispaw flinched from his own sleep at the exclaiming sound from Leappaw and grumbled drowsily. Leappaw looked around for the source of the voice before his eyes widened.
There was Poolgleam, standing a fox-length away from the softbody and looking up at them all. He still looked just as tired as before, just as out of it; but he smiled softly. Leappaw gasped with relief and brought himself up in an instant. “Poolgleam!” he cried.
“W- Whuh?!” Irispaw came fully conscious at the call of the cleric’s name, his eyes snapping open. He saw Poolgleam quickly and let out his own relieved cry. “Poolgleam! Oh, you’re back! I was so—”
Irispaw nearly slipped off the softbody with how quickly he jumped off of it, totally leaving Bushkit behind. It didn’t matter in a few moments, though, when Bushkit woke up fast as well. The peach-furred kitten yawned and blinked slowly, mumbling, “Mmm, nooo, few more minutes please…”
Leappaw decided to leave Bushkit alone for the moment, chuckling, before following after Irispaw. Irispaw butted his head into Poolgleam and purred, which the cleric returned and closed his eyes. “Poolgleam, I’m so so glad you’re back,” Irispaw whimpered, “I was so worried about you—”
“Worried?” Poolgleam meowed, as if that came by complete surprise. “Why, was something the matter…?”
Irispaw sniffled and nodded a little. “You’ve just— you’ve just been so distant from us I was scared you wanted to leave us and go die.”
Poolgleam’s eyes widened with ashamed realization before they fell tiredly again. “Oh, Irispaw, no… I’m so sorry, hun,” he murmured. “I’ve just… I was so focused on trying to find us someplace safe to stay, but I hardly thought about anything else. That’s completely on me.”
“So it’s not our fault…” Irispaw looked up at him, pleadingly. “Or my fault…?”
“No, not at all, Iris.” Poolgleam pulled Irispaw in even closer, and Irispaw wrapped his own forelegs around him. Leappaw could see him shaking slightly. “I’m very sorry. I promise that I care very much about you, and Leappaw, and Serpentkit and Bushkit.”
Leappaw purred and took a few steps forward to curl himself around the two of them as well. One of Poolgleam’s legs shifted to fall over Leappaw’s back. “At least, with the search I did last night,” Poolgleam remarked, “I know this place is as safe as it can be. The beasts can’t get past the shiningfence.”
“Shiningfence?” Leappaw inquired.
“The tall barrier around our new camp. Like a bramble wall, but practically unbreakable,” Poolgleam explained. “It’s made of metal and very hard to damage.”
“Ohhh,” Leappaw nodded, understanding. “Cool.”
After a few minutes, the apprentices both peeled away a little and Poolgleam kept up his smile. That was when Leappaw remembered: “Wait, Poolgleam, there’s something I have to tell you.”
“Yes, what is it?” Poolgleam invited.
“I think… I think I got a message from the Cosmos, last night,” Leappaw started, voice a little slow and uncertain. “I feel like what they told me was kind of concerning…”
Poolgleam blinked, looking more cautious now. His smile fell. “Did you see any ghost alongside the message?”
“No… the voice had no body,” Leappaw said. He took in a deep breath, then recited, “It told me, ‘Open your eyes to new horizons, but beware of what you have not yet seen. Your path ahead is full of danger, devastation, and disaster. Keep your loved ones close and you will survive this. Keep us in your thoughts, and do not wait any longer.’…”
Poolgleam’s brows furrowed, and he stared down at his paws. Irispaw stared at him with wide eyes. “The Cosmos spoke to you? Did it sound like anyone from…” Irispaw trailed off. Leappaw knew what he wanted to say.
Sadly, he shook his head. “It didn’t sound like anyone from the Gilded Colony. It was completely unfamiliar. Sounded vaguely feminine, and a bit older…” Leappaw detailed.
“I’ll keep that in mind. Perhaps she’ll return with another message at some other point,” Poolgleam said. He looked back at Leappaw. “Thank you for telling me this.”
“Of course, I figured it was probably… like really important,” Leappaw huffed a little laugh, “and you’re the cleric after all, so maybe you can figure it out better than my scramble-minded self did last night!”
“‘Do not wait any longer’?” Bushkit called from on top of the softbody, now properly awake. “On what? What the heck is that supposed to mean?”
Serpentkit now poked his head out from the top, too. “I’m kinda way more worried about the whole… death and destruction and disaster part,” he squeaked. “That sounds… really bad!”
“Well… she said we would survive this,” Irispaw interjected, “as long as we keep each other close.”
Leappaw smiled softly. “Well, that doesn’t sound hard at all.”
The others met him with smiles and nods of their own. It was reassuring to know they all felt the same. Despite all they’d gone through, and everything that might still be coming for them…
“Hey, we’re all gonna be okay, okay? I promise it to you all,” Poolgleam spoke gently, beckoning Bushkit and Serpentkit down. The two kittens hopped down from the softbody and came over to be embraced by him. “I’m going to make sure we get through everything.”
Leappaw pressed close on one side of Poolgleam while Irispaw did on the other. He remembered the shooting star and smiled, understanding what he had to do.
And I’m going to help make sure we get through it, too.

Min Ho’s unexpected plus-one
Tumblr media
Min Ho Moon x girlfriend!reader
Summary: Min Ho surprises his friends with a girlfriend, and they can’t believe she’s real.
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~
If my heart beats any faster, I might actually pass out.
I smooth down my sweater for the hundredth time as Min Ho leads me toward the table where his friends—Dae, Q, and Kitty—are sitting. They’re deep in conversation, laughing at something I can’t hear, but the moment Min Ho clears his throat, all three heads turn in our direction.
“Guys,” Min Ho says, his voice casual but confident. “This is my girlfriend.”
Three pairs of eyes widen simultaneously.
“Girlfriend?!” Kitty is the first to react, nearly choking on her drink. She looks between us with the kind of shock I imagine she’d reserve for a major K-drama plot twist. “Did I miss something? Since when do you date?”
Min Ho sighs dramatically, placing a protective arm around my waist. “You all act like I was destined to be alone forever.”
Dae, who has been quiet up until now, finally blinks out of his stunned state. “I mean… kinda?” He looks at me with an apologetic smile. “Not because there’s anything wrong with you! Just, you know, because Min Ho’s… Min Ho.”
I laugh, and Min Ho groans. “Wow. Amazing. So much faith in me.”
Q leans forward, resting his chin on his hand as he studies me. “Okay, but seriously. We need details. How did this happen?”
“Yeah, and how are you putting up with him?” Kitty chimes in, narrowing her eyes at Min Ho like she’s waiting for me to expose all his flaws.
Min Ho scoffs, pressing a hand to his chest. “You know, a normal reaction would be ‘Congratulations, Min Ho! We’re happy for you, Min Ho!’”
Dae shrugs. “We’re still processing.”
I decide to take pity on him. “Honestly, he just kind of grew on me.” I glance up at him with a teasing smile. “Like an expensive, annoyingly charming fungus.”
Kitty gasps in delight. “Oh, I love her.”
Q grins. “Yeah, she’s definitely keeping him humble.”
Dae finally smiles. “Okay, okay, I approve.” He looks at Min Ho. “But if you mess this up, you know we’re all taking her side, right?”
Min Ho sighs. “Obviously.”
I can’t help but laugh as Kitty gestures excitedly for me to sit next to her, already launching into a million questions. Min Ho might have been nervous about this introduction, but honestly? I think I just found my new favorite people.
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~
As the night goes on, I settle into the group’s dynamic faster than I expected. Kitty is relentless with her questions, grilling me on everything from my favorite K-drama to my most embarrassing childhood story. Q is effortlessly charming, throwing in sarcastic quips that make Min Ho roll his eyes every five minutes. Dae, despite being the most reserved, gives me reassuring smiles that make it clear he’s warming up to me.
Min Ho stays close the whole time, his arm slung casually across the back of my chair, his fingers occasionally brushing against my shoulder. It’s subtle, but I can tell he’s still a little nervous, like he needs to make sure I’m okay. It’s sweet, really.
At one point, Kitty leans over and whispers, “You know, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him like this.”
“Like what?” I whisper back.
She glances at Min Ho, who’s currently bickering with Q over something ridiculous, then back at me with a knowing smile. “Soft.”
I feel my face warm, but before I can respond, Min Ho turns back to us. “What are you two conspiring about?”
Kitty just winks. “Nothing. Just girl talk.”
Min Ho narrows his eyes at her suspiciously, but before he can press further, Dae checks his phone and sighs. “I should probably head out. My dad’s expecting me home soon.”
Q stretches. “Yeah, me too. But this was fun. You’re officially part of the group now,” he says, giving me an approving nod.
Kitty grins. “Yeah, and don’t worry, we’ll make sure Min Ho treats you right.”
Min Ho scoffs. “She doesn’t need you guys for that. I’m an amazing boyfriend.”
I hum thoughtfully. “Debatable.”
Kitty bursts into laughter. “Oh yeah, I definitely like her.”
As we all say our goodbyes, Min Ho laces his fingers through mine and pulls me a little closer. “See? Told you they’d love you.”
I smile up at him. “Yeah, I think I love them too.”
He smirks. “Not more than you love me, though. Right?”
I roll my eyes, but there’s no denying the warmth spreading through my chest. “You’re lucky you’re cute.”
Min Ho grins. “I knew it.”
And just like that, I realize—being with him, being part of this? It feels exactly right.
