The Big Black House. This is called "The Gatsby Barn," and even though it's completely modern and remodeled, it was supposedly built in 1878 in New Hope, PA. 6bds, 7ba, 9,800 sq ft, $5.995m. There's no way this house looks like it was built in 1878.

The entrance hall is beautiful, love the wallpaper.

I do like that black and gold railing. This house was completely gutted and rebuilt.

Open concept very large living/dining/kitchen area.

You'd have to buy this table and chairs- where do you get another table this big?

The large black & gold kitchen has glass walls. This is a beautiful kitchen, especially if you like the color scheme.

Clear wine storage. Walk thru and the bar is behind it.

This is some bar.

Guest 1/2 bath. Very nice black & gold.

The elevator.

Huge primary suite. Love the fireplace.

It has a kitchenette.

The ensuite isn't huge, but it has a double shower.

The walk-in closet.

The other 6 bedroom suites are all beautiful.

On the lower level there's a full kitchen.

Nice home theater.

This shower room also has the washer/dryer.

The yard is beautiful- almost like a resort. It also has a huge pavilion with a fully equipped outdoor kitchen.

The kitchen has everything, even a pizza oven back here.

There's also a studio on the property.

Very nice.

On the 2nd level there's a big kitchen.

Plus, there's a cute little guest house. 10.56 acre lot.

Somewhere out there a millennial is getting an absolute dream house (be it mid century modern, contemporary or 80s) tearing out the walls, all unique features and painting it white and beige.

I see one more absolute horror show of a renovation and I’m sneaking into these housing. Painting color on the wall and re-Pop Corning the ceiling out of spite

Just buy a new construction it already looks like how you want I’m fucking begging you. HGTV has been the same for nearly 30 years and has absolutely destroyed design “pop of color” that’s a slightly different grey! (I hate you open floor plan. I hate you so so so much)

I feel like I might be overthinking this, but I honestly think those home renovation shows push patriachal gender roles and stereotypes in their own way. A lot them typically consist of a man and woman duo (sometimes a married couple), the woman is always the designer who nags and frets about the colour palette and overall look of a home because that's typically seen as a feminine thing. Meanwhile the man is always the contractor and the one who actually does a lot of the dirty work cause obviously men are the ones who would want to build things and not be concerned with things like paint colour and what furniture and accents will look best with that funky accent wall his female cohost picked. Not to mention the fact that many of them feature scenes poking fun at women for not knowing how to use power tools cause of course dumb females don't know anything about building and assembling things. It's very subtle mind you, but there's a consistent pattern.

victorian style haunted house that has dysphoria about not being an open concept minimalist hellhole, before we even have those, so it doesnt know why it just feels sooo miserable and has to lash out at everyone inside it, so its wretched and haunted the whole time, until its finally bought by a house flipper in the 2020s who knows JUST how to fix it
