so the cleansed werebeast mod I been playing has led to some fun scenarios happening like this giant getting bit a bunch and turning into this squid person.

Caravans of both mice and hares showed up at the same time. They're all so cute! I love this mod.

News from the Fortress in the constellations - our fellow dwarfs in the far skies have come to us in this time of need, and we will back them.
Starting today, I will be tagging many games with "dwarf" in their Steam store pages until this injustice against us has been rectified.
Friends - now is our time. Strike the Earth!

in other df modding news, i tried my hand at making mostly new portraits this time for SEEU's old Gnoll race mod, in addition to updating the existing graphics to use the new palette system to fix some of the old bugs with it.
im really happy with the end result for the portraits :)
#dwarf fortress#modding#i did some adventure mode and got a little sad my buddy i had with me didn't have a portrait so you know 5 days later here we are#woops#anyways still uses a lot of existing graphics bc either redrawing at 2x2 pixel size or downsizing and resizing the images is a pain#but making the new ears and hair and head shapes was fun#also fun part about using vanilla graphic raws as a base is you notice fun things like 'kobolds have full crown graphics-'#and only kobolds despite not actually using them at all'#in fact none of the other vanilla races even have portrait crown graphics let alone use them

-mod DF so hard it becomes unrecognizable, no actual dwarves in sight (sacrilege) -mod Stellaris too hard, battle with incompatibilities, spend more time writing backstories for species than actually playing, forced to quit when a mod I liked never updated again and a patch streak forced me to wait for mod updates too long -mod DF (Steam version) again, so hard I spend 90% of every embark prep time just clicking arrows and checking compatibilities -mod Rimworldl so hard I literally fucking break it, crashes before ever getting to the main menu now, looking at the giant list of mods just drives me away no matter how much I want to play again because holy shit pruning that list Maybe I should just be banned from modding games as a whole. I clearly have a problem.

so had the funny idea of making a werebeast mod where 'what if there were pure werebeast migrants' and a series of addon interactions and syndromes to make it so the vanilla pure werebeasts work in fort mode had led to some experiences of local elven citizens getting bit and turn into cleansed werebeasts, the werebeasts turning into animal people, and other citizens turning into animal people on top of turning into werebeasts.
oh and recently learn it's possible to train animals bit by cleansed pure werebeasts to get them to join the fort as temp citizens due to they shapeshift pre to post train order, and now wondering if the game will still keep training those temp citizens or not?
so now I got a current nomad werebeast fort going through the caverns biting cave animals they hunt and trying to rush them into a cage for training before they morph into a random animal person. over all selling the bit caged pets to folks feels like I'm pranking them with a value that going to deplete the second the syndrome kicks in.

So I left off my mouse fortress in the middle of what I'm calling The Great Harvest. The fruits have fallen from all the trees, winter is coming, so I designated the entire surface as a harvest zone. My little mice are working so hard to harvest everything that they've taken to just dropping their harvest on the floor before running back out to harvest more, which I found annoying. until I saw that one of our children is playing in the pantry and stopping to move things into barrels every time that happens. So this really is an event for the whole village. I love it. I need to have them build a tavern so they can properly celebrate the harvest.

I know it's a simple matter of simply moving a colony of bees into a hive box, but it always tickles me pink thinking on how Dwarves will just haul 15,772 bees in some kind of unholy BEE ORB.
#dwarf fortress#df#mod %#he immediately grew possessed after and made a Fungiwood Amulet#so he's having a great time

after more skull smashing the centaurs can finally hold items :)
#dwarf fortress#modding#with this the layered graphics for the centaur /sprites/ is finished#i still need to actually like. play a fort with them to see children and make sure i didn't fuck up any coords there but#now i just need to portraits. but those are almost certainly gonna just be humans but with ears drawn on#and changed facial hair#anyways very happy with the results after like 9 days straight of working on it :)
