I know it's a simple matter of simply moving a colony of bees into a hive box, but it always tickles me pink thinking on how Dwarves will just haul 15,772 bees in some kind of unholy BEE ORB.

I've received my copy of the Dwarf Fortress guidebook!

Here's a few screenshots from my model painting table. Apologies if these are a bit low-quality; I had just cleaned the table in prep for the latest Emperor's Children release.

Overall, the book came in with very light cosmetic damage in the top-left-hand corner - which is to say, extremely well for Australian shipping/handling.

It covers almost every aspect of Fortress mode quite well, and while it is a tad premature given we're only at v.51.06, it has excellent insights and flowcharts for the little nooks and crannies that some may forget from time to time.

I recommend it highly! I can't wait to pour over it during my nightly reading.

Dwarf Fortress isn't so baffling when you understand that there's a whole subgenre of mostly-roguelikes out there that have been in what amounts to early access since the 1980s and still have no functional endgames in spite of having been in development for thirty goddamn years, but they do have twelve distinct ways to die by vending machine, and by gosh folks like it that way.

one fun thing about being a dwarf fortress fan and a textile hobbyist is that i get to needlessly overthink my dwarves' decisions when it comes to making cloth/fabric and clothes. especially when its early days and theres only a few fabric sources. fortress full of dwarves who only own alpacas and have no access to plant fibres. just 100% alpaca. no structure. no breathability. only drape. they go to battle aboveground in the summer and die of heatstroke before the goblins can even reach them.
