I guess to u guys self insert always means a total 100% copy paste immersion, but to me self insert also covers the way the character we play share bits of our personality & way of thinking

It has always been that way, even with characters we roleplayed as that are not even an OC, as they are the extended expression of ourself

I can tell u for certain, I can't even dream to be as cool as Yuu. She would be more of an anxious introvert mess if she is actually me.

She has part of me that is nonchalant, but the rest is up to her. She just has my hope to be as cool as she is.

Regarding the kataang week twitter "promotion" situation:

From where I stand, the issue is that 1) there was no communication with the kataang week mods (it seems if there had just been communication beforehand, nobody would have cared!), 2) that the account is not "promoting" the event, as the thread says verbatim that they are "hosting and overseeing" the event on twitter (oversight implies moderation - which would be a takeover of the event from the moderators who run the event on tumblr), and that 3) there has been no apology or acknowledgement that this was done without asking, and people involved are going out of their way to attack the moderators, who are just sad and frustrated that they weren't asked.

I've seen people claiming that the majority of the votes came from people who saw the posts on twitter - which isn't something that can be tracked without having access to the google poll itself. After existing for 11 years on tumblr, I assume the kataang week blog probably has a mass of followers - but we can't be sure because tumblr follower counts aren't public.

Nobody would be upset if they wanted to make their own ship week. In fact, that's happened in the past! And in terms of sharing content, people often drop links in the asks to the kataang week blog - whether it's on another platform, or the mods missed it, or for any other reason. There's an ao3 collection as well that people can post to! The mods don't track content that's not on tumblr (because not all the mods have a twitter or are availible 24/7), but they're happy to promote it if it's sent to them.

especially when Andrew suddenly decided to say "sorry mom" and she's like "yeah okay friends again?"

like what??? you have just told him you want to leave him alone and turned him to police??? are you fucking sane??? and Anrdew suddenly "sorrymomm"ing??? what the fuck???

feels like the creators didn't know what to do here, created a big quarrel, broke the chars and after that decided to scratch all of it because its not convenient enough. the quarrel feels so out of place, as if it was from another piece of media...

Alright, there is one more round of this main tournament (Glenn Close vs Carlos the Scientist) but I haven't yet made the graphics. Also since I have posted 120 times since the 2000th post last night, I am going to let us all take a breather before I start reblogging the #Post Polls Reactions.

Congratulations to Glenn Close for winning Round 7 (non-Night Vale brackets) by 55 votes.

I made this poll like, 60% because I wanted stats and 35% because I wanted justice for Isabel Lovelace being beaten by Cecil back last winter. I'm really really proud she won the Scripted Bracket, which was more than I could have asked for. (Cecil also beat Glenn Close in Round 1 of that previous tournament, so I'm glad Carlos won the Night Vale bracket so that we can see a different showdown.)

If anyone makes fan art of these competitors, please @ this blog so that I can see it and reblog it.
