Why Marinette couldn’t be just a normal girl anymore.

Marinette had long considered herself to be a normal girl with a normal life. Sadly, throughout the seasons, her views of what it means to be a normal girl, had begun to change.

In the beginning of the series, as the opening song is played, we hear Marinette describing herself as someone who goes about her day living a normal life just like anyone else, however, what no one knew about her was that aside from living a normal life, she also had a very exciting and adventurous life as the hero known simply as Ladybug. When we hear her say these words, and as the series progressed, Marinette expressed herself as someone who gradually learned to accept and appreciate her new found role and abilities to help save Paris and its citizens in anyway she could, regardless of them never knowing who she really was.

hi... this is going to be a long ask... so you mightve seen and heard about miraculous ladybug; but i was recently reading fanfics about the show, when my payneland plagued brain suddenly thought that the main duo, ladybug and chat noir, reminded it of charles and edwin.

though more specifically, chat noir reminded me of charles (at least, some of their fanon interpretations - i haven't watched mlb for some time... and i haven't been able to watch dbda at all yet... so)

so the main villain in mlb essentially creates his own goons via his powers of transmission; he sends these akumas (butterflies) towards someone experiencing negative emotions to turn them into a supervillain. ladybug, the titular character, is the only one who can purify them (the akuma), as well as fix all the damage caused by the fight - so, she's pretty important to keep safe. of course, she can fight and take care of herself - but this leads to one of my favorite type of chat noir portrayals in fanfic (because that doesn't change, dude's just crazy sacrifical).

see, i quite like it when everyone, including the man himself, see chat noir as ladybug's shield - that is, everyone but ladybug; she sees him as a partner, an equal... she does NOT like seeing him take all the heavy hits, even if she fixes everything in the end... which he uses as an excuse and reason for him acting as her shield, cause what if she gets put out of comission? no one will be able to fix anything. so if it comes down to saving her or himself... he's going to save her; out of the two of them, she's the most important part of their duo - everyone needs and looks up to her.

...besides the low-self esteem and self-sacrificial thing - i also like that after he recieved his miraculous (the piece of jewlery that gave him his powers; in his case a ring, ladybug has her earrings) he became more free and also - he's charming and likes making lame puns and jokes as chat noir. so - charles.

Romani being hurt because Mash calls Lancelot dad is so good. But i also like to think that Mash was so hesitant to acknowledge Lancelot as a potential father figure not because of Galahad influencing her not to. But because she feels like she is betraying Romaní because they never managed to cross that line completely into father daughter dynamic before he went out and erased himself.
