Hey! Well, usually, I stay up to date about the episodes airing, but, I don’t know, maybe working 3rd shift made me lose track of time and I completely missed it. Hopefully, @melyxan posted me a link to the newest episode in French, English subbed. Here’s my reaction to the episode :)
New intro music? Hmm.... not a fan...
To fix the Peacock Miraculous, mix molten gold and meteorite dust, and add a peacock feather.... Are the Miraculous made of meteorite? Do they have a part of their animal as a core like Harry Potter’s universe wands? Interesting...
LoL even Gabriel’s apron has Gabriel logo on it.... Come on....
The hidden version of the peacock miraculous with Gabriel is golden, and Adrien’s hidden version of his ring and LB’s earrings is silver... Could be useful later... or not...
In French, Duusu’s ‘gender’ seems to be male. I wasn’t sure until now...
Papillombre’s design sucks... Can’t believe Gabe’s a successful designer... 🤢
Tikki trying hats is just so cute :)
Kwamis chaos XD
Marinette’s convo with the girls is just cringy... soooooo cringy
The girls assuming Adrien is at her house because she’s acting weird
Marinette repeatedly calling Luka ‘Adrien’... poor boy... Someone said something about Luka snapping at Marinette telling her that he’s not Adrien... Might happen, might not
He’s so patient it gives me cavities from the sweetness
Ladybug and Chat Noir cutouts at the cinema... I wondered why they were so obvious, and why the cinema was so empty...
One of the movie posters’ title is “La Carie” [the cavity]
“My guitar is my only family”... gods... I’ve watched it before writing my reactions, and I couldn’t have known how important this was at that moment...
The lukanette moment every fan was waiting for :’(
I can see that Marinette really loves and cares for him. She wants to be in love with him...
“I’m the Guardian, my identity must stay even more a secret. TIKKI!!! SPOTS ON!!!!!!!” Can you say that louder? Papillombre couldn’t hear you from his lair....
I hear pigeons, I see birds... M. Pigeon #what, now? 73? And it took them all the movie time to defeat him? They’re getting lazy...
She forgets her dates with Luka, she forgets her patrols with Chat...
Throwing Chat off the building... and he acts like “Hey! Worth it! At least, she’s here now!” XD
At least, he’s not mad at her. He understands what it feels like to have a busy life, after all. He’s just so used to it, and she’s not. She’s working on it, and he knows it. Chat’s too precious.
How much do we bet she came back and the ice cream was all melted?
Wow, even Adrien got to free himself for Kitty Section...
I’ll never get over Rose singing XD
Hmm... funny... the movie poster “Le coquelicot” was in the movie theatre and at the bridge, but I looked for it and couldn’t find anything, except for a Ghibli movie “La colline aux coquelicots” [From Up to Poppy Hill] Wonder if it’ll have a role later in the series...
Oh! Theory time! Will we know about Luka’s father? (Spoiler: we will...)
Yikes... Try to tell the truth without telling the truth... It’s easy to say she makes fake excuses to disappear, but it’s also easy to see that she tries her best to please him and her friends...
“Even if you’re still in love with Adrien, I’ll understand.” Luka’s too precious... I repeat myself, but it’s true.
I never really liked Luka (not disliked) because I’ve never really got to see how he was, but he’s really a sweet, patient and understanding, opened-mind boy who just wants to love and be loved. He doesn’t even ask her to be in love with him, just to be honest with him. Luka, you’re now up to my Top 3 favorite characters from the show!
Hmm... the possession was fast! I mean, they’re still in their conversation and like, 2 seconds later, boom! Akumatized.
How do you call that, btw? Akumatized and, what, Amokized? Amokatized? What about both? Like a shipname? Akumokatized? Amokumatized? Help me, guys...
Luka fights Papillombre with all he’s got... “Run, Marinette!” Yup, he fights ‘til the end
Ok... Wiki time. I was curious about Pharo, the sentimonster, and looked around on Google and Wikipedia, and found this. Please take that with open-mind since I have nothing much. “Le Pharo” is a district in Marseille. Its name comes from “l’Anse du Farot” that had a lookout on the see. The word “farot” means “phare” [lighthouse]. It works perfectly with the spotlight Pharo uses to paralyze his victims
Both Luka’s akumatized versions didn’t have mouth, and where about speaking...
Rose’s faith in Marinette is cute “she’s the most honest girl in the world”... If only she knew...
I actually like Vérité’s design... makes me think of Nightwing
Aaaaaand it’s confirmed! Jagged is Luka’s father!! (Am I surprised? Not so much...)
Why do I feel like, later in their adulthood, in their roomplay, they’re gonna use Chat’s tail??? (I read too many fics, please send help...)
“I’m here to know if I’m your son.” - “It’ll depend on who you are.” Jagged says that like there are many possibilities....
“Luke, I’m your father”
Jagged admitting he wouldn’t be a good father and he preferred to stay away. Maybe Luka wasn’t happy to not have a father, but he had a mother who looks like she loved him. My sis raised her daughter without a father (because he’s an alcoholic PoS), and she doesn’t lack of love and is happy with their family of 2.
And Jagged admitting under Vérité’s influence that his son is awesome
Tom and Sabine playing video games XD
Protective Tom 💖
Ah! The cardboard cutouts to the rescue! That’s why they were obvious!
Chat’s puns don’t sound the same in French...
The gifts chest is still full
Plagg really destroyed Atlantis
Ladybug’s top 3 of Chat’s qualities, and what she like the most is his humor. So, Ladybug does find Chat funny, just not when they’re fighting!
Nope, Chat doesn’t rock the white lipstick as he did the black one
As long as they stay the same, Chat is perfectly okay with Ladybug being the Guardian. Whatever happens, he only needs to stay with her, and that’s just tooth-rotting sweet
Confirmed: Cataclysm doesn’t destroy a sentimonster. Lady Noire using it on Reflectdoll did exactly the same. To get rid of a sentimonster, no choice but to break the ‘amokatized’ object
LB and CN fighting without speaking to each other shows how much they understand each other as well
“If fighting a supervillain is so much fun, I can’t imagine your everyday life”... Do I really have to go there?
“There’s only when I’m with you that I have fun” Even if he tries to move on from Ladybug because of Kagami, he still loves and cherishes what they have :)
Lukanette is no more...
Jagged is trying (even in the subtitles, they put a smiley face)
No Lukanette, no Adrinette for her... “🎵🎶Ce n’est pas le moment. Il faut être patient. Être patient... 🎵🎶”
Kaalki, you’ve never ever seen a human crying??
Kwamis group hug 💖💖💖
Far from being “as chocking as Chat Blanc“ like Astruc implied, this was a nice episode with not-so-much-surprising surprises. We now know where Lukanette stands, we know where Luka comes from (wait... is Jagged Juleka’s father too????? Because if not, we still have a mystery to solve!!)

I find it interesting that the ending card of this episode doesn’t feature the relationship between Luka and Marinette and their breakup.
The center of the image is instead focused on Luka hugging his father, in their own bubble, while Ladybug and Chat Noir are shown in action with the looming presence of Shadowmoth above it all, and the swamis around.
I don’t exactly know where I’m going with this, and to be honest I’m not the best at analysis, but you’d have expected that the card would have focused on Marinette & Luka’s breakup. Except not at all.
As if it wasn’t what was important in the episode, what we had to really pick up on but instead: that our heroes have a foe with bigger power who is more dangerous than before to the people they care about. That Marinette & Adrien’s heroes duties are becoming more important, emphasised by Ladybug’s very focused gaze, looking ahead. She isn’t looking back on her relationship that didn’t work out: she’s looking straight forward, focused on what she has to do & sacrifice.
The focus on Luka & Jagged Stone is also interesting: this is the most important truth he needed. This is what he was, probably unconsciously, really looking for to discover. Just before asking Marinette to reveal her secret to him, he shares his personal story with her and how it had hurt him to never were told the truth. It’s probably why he had a hard time to accept that Marinette couldn’t tell him the truth either: in his family just like in his romantic relationship, even if he gets honesty, he doesn’t know what people refuse to tell him, and it’s hurting him. In the end, it feels like it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t get the truth out of Marinette because he got the one that really was important to him: who was his father and why he left.
That’s why this is all the focus of the ending card to me: this episode was less about Lukanette breaking up and more about characters development and what they will have to face later on:
for Marinette, it’s to show us how her role as the guardian is gonna affect her character this season and her personal life;
for Luka, it’s to solve previous issues and discover a part of himself, in a way.
Even if we didn’t see Adrien much, it’s clear from what Chat Noir said that his hero life is also taking over his own, and that his civilian life isn’t easy or fun.
As for Ladynoir, we’re also starting to get hints as to their dynamic: Ladybug slacking on patrol, Chat Noir being ok with her being the guardian “as long as they stay the same” - which makes us question this statement regarding to the beginning of the episode and him telling her she forgets to patrol. They’re still, however, trusting each other completely and communicating their feelings.
And as for Gabriel, well... he’ll be more of a threat than before this season!

Me looking back at all the "what's Marinette's secret?"s and the "she's in love with Adrien Agreste"s: technically it's not wrong, I guess... but which side does she look at like this?

The Truth Hurts XD
So, now I think Luka and Marinette both need big hugs. I’m really glad the kwamis have Marinette covered. I’m not so sure that I trust Jagged with Luka. :/ Like, “my guitar is my only family”? How did you think telling your son you wrote that song after you abandoned him would make things better?
So, in the beginning, my thoughts were, “Wow, Marinette, you are seriously the worst girlfriend ever. How does Luka endure this?” because she is just blatantly not into him. And yet, he keeps trying and giving her chance after chance after chance. That was really heartbreaking. Like, when she told him she was cheating on him and called him “Adrien” and he was just like, “Actually, my name’s Luka”. I knew Luka was an extremely special, patient, accepting person before, but now I’m worried that his propensity to place the good of others above his own is even more unhealthy than I originally thought. :/
The setup for the almost kiss in the movie theatre was really cute and awkward and adorkable. I like that instead of kissing her right away, he gave her the opportunity to decide if that’s what she really wanted.
I also really liked when Luka took Marinette under the bridge and shared about how he would come there when he was sad and feeling upset about not knowing his father. I like how he worked in the line “Where do you go when you disappear?”
It was super sad when everyone was saying that Marinette’s in love with Adrien and Luka’s like, “That’s not a secret!” Poor baby. Like...rub salt in the wound, everyone.
Another line I really liked was “I always tell the truth”.
The Lady Noir in this episode was really sweet. I just love their banter and the way they trust and support one another. Chat was super on point in protecting Ladybug. I am SO proud of our boy, guys. I’m glad Ladybug finally admitted that he’s funny.
So, when the theory about Jagged being Luka’s father first started going around, I didn’t like it because I love Jagged and Penny together because she loves him, and he needs her. They’re very complimentary. It then occurred to me that a relationships between Anarka and Jagged fifteen years ago doesn’t affect my Rolling Stone ship in the present in the slightest, so I accepted the Jagged dad theory and started incorporating it into my fanfiction by early 2020.
I thought Jagged didn’t know about Luka, though, so now I’m kind of ticked at Jagged for being even more of an immature man-baby than I had previously thought. Looking back on Desperada, I was just kind of annoyed with him for not connecting the dots of Anarka having a child who would have been conceived about the time Jagged was in a relationship with her. Now, knowing that he knew he had a child with Anarka and had zero reaction in Desperada, I am judging him so hard. XD
This confirms, though, my belief that Luka and Juleka are half-siblings because it sounds like Jagged was never around during Luka’s life, so he would have been gone by the time Juleka happened.
I’m kind of annoyed, though. XD I’m currently writing a new Lukadrien story where, as a background detail, Luka is rich now because Jagged found out about Luka when Luka was twenty-three and back-paid child support. Darn canon, putting dings in my fanfiction. XD
Overall, I think this was a good episode. I kind of just want to protect Marinette from the writers, though. Like...leave my baby girl alone. She’s doing her best.
I feel really bad that Luka had such a rubbish day, too. I mean, your girlfriend lets you down, you get akumatized, your girlfriend breaks up with you, you find out your idol is a loser, and you discover your dad just straight up abandoned you. That’s a really bad day.
So, yeah. Hugs all around, guys.

Gotta love the fact Marinette still has all the birthday presents she has prepared for Adrien. And they were used in the fight against Truth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gotta also love the fact both times a gift was thrown, it protected Chat Noir AKA Adrien.

Are you telling me that until Season 3 finals the writers have made Marinette/Ladybug and Adrien/Chat Noir suffer through their respective love lives that were getting nowhere and made them realize they could explore new horizons with other people, ONLY to trash these exact second love interests at the literally start of Season 4???
(sorry I'm breaking my English, but the writing of the show and the path it's taking makes lesser sense to me)

fait à Luz le 17 d’Août 1838.
Charles
how droll that the prince de la Moscowa should have unwittingly put me upon narrowing his own purpose! – I thought not of certificate – nor cared more for mounting the Vignemale than Mt. Perdu the ascent of which last mountain nobody believes – what mattered it to me – I made each ascent for my own pleasure, not for éclat – what is éclat to me? what is éclat to anyone? too often a dangerous bauble – the lightnings’ forked flash that kills the object it has fixed on – But come what may I’ll make an effort to tear the Cazos-laurier from this silly prince – ‘Hommage à la vérité’! ‘tis all I want – and I am not inclined me laisser tromper pour rien – tis now 1 ¾ pm and F73° in my cool cupboard – A- too poorly to go out at 2 – Pierre to come again at 4 – I left her lying down and was off with Charles at 2 20 to Gèdre – overtook a drunken berger about ½ way between St. Sauveur and the Pont de Sia and could not get rid of him till he turned up ½ way between the Ponts de Sia and [Douroucate] to go after his masters’ bétail on the Mt. de Mâle beyond the Bué – he and his master had drank 4 litres of wine at Luz. he walked unsteadily but safely, and his motions reminded me of those of drunken men in general but of the queer roll of his hips and shoulders and head that I have some often seen in poor Eliza Raine – I mused on this as I rode close behind him and Charles who said his conversation tho’ incessant was reasonable he observed on the new carriage road began since we went to Spain to go to Gavarnie that if cows or oxen were drawing a load along the precipitous part they would probably throw themselves and their load into the gave – he regretted there were no cabarets on his road as if there were he could drink a great deal more wine – we watched him along the precipitous part of the road he had to go just after leaving us – he got on quite well the cool air of the mountains and the perspiration he was in from walking would probably sober him before very long – as we went to Luz on Tuesday observed several men at work (1st time of our seeing them) beginning the new road (that is to avoid Luz) to St. Sauveur – at Gèdre at 4 20 Cazos at home sent for him to the Inn as also for the aubergiste himself who was at the Douane, and for his brother-in-law who was with him – I ordered wine and bread and cheese for them all, and, leaving my tartan cloak upstairs, went down into the kitchen, and staid with them all the whole time – It was sometime before Cazos came and we had talked over the leading particulars of my ascent – Cazos came perhaps in 10 minutes or ¼ hour and then joined heartily in talking the story over in everything agreeing with and confirming the statement of Charles and myself – I told him my femme de chambre had told me the people at Luz would not believe that I had got to the top but gave the laurier to the prince de la Moscowa – that was not right – I must have some proof to shew and Cazos and Charles and Pierre must sign me the certificate which I then read aloud – and Cazos, and then the aubergiste read it – Cazos made not the least objection to sign it – declared fully and openly that all I and Charles had said was true, and that I had got up to the very top and got up very well too – Cazos then signed and Charles, and the aubergiste saying was maire and could not sign these things his brother-in-law signed as witness and I paid Cazos the twenty francs as agreed, and said I, now you asked me 30/. on the Piméné – here there are five fr. more which with the 5/. I gave you on the top = 30/. and here is a 2fr. piece to go for what I was to give you on the top to drink my health – Cazos seemed much pleased – I desired him to consider the 5/. piece I had just given him to be for taking care, of my column and bottle at the top of the mountain – to see that nobody either destroyed the bottle or raised a column higher than mine – I then told him to drink his wine, and turning to the aubergiste said, Monsieur le maire, je ne demande pas ce que je vous dois pour le vin (I had just called for a 2nd bottle good vin ordinaire) mais voilà...... on which I put into his hand 2 five fr. pieces – this was too much for him
vid. line 4.   21 next page
to resist – his heart opened – he said I paid en prince (and in a whisper adding et meme plus) and said significantly mais je connais beaucoup de choses – vous avez bien payé – vous devez être traité avec bravoure – on this I begged him to tell me some of the things he knew – and in the midst of his fighting off Charles had taken poor Cazos to task about his letter to the prince and here a scene commenced of pro and con – Cazos denied having written that I had not gone to the top – I said if Cazos had been calumniated I would stand by him – all joining in begging Cazos to face the prince and have all cleared up – at last M. le maire explained that if Cazos had written as Charles declared his letter would prove, he had done it for money for his family – le mond was hard pressed here, and he hoped I should excuse the man who had made me all the reparation in his power...... poor Cazos owned his fault, and all present agreed to forgive and M. le maire our aubergiste promised to intercede with the prince and hoped I should do nothing against poor Cazos – no! said and held out my hand to the poor man, saying je ne [sens] que de regrets pour conduit envers moi – c’est une affaire d’honneur et je lui arracherai ce laurier à tout prix – rien ne me manqué pour bien le faire – j’air de l’arme, et de force, et de l’argent, et je n’en épargnerai rien – je lui arracherai ce laurier – the aubergiste agreed with me as to the petitesse of the prince’s declaration that he would not make the ascension if I had done it – and that it was not well to engage Cazos for Wednesday whether the weather was fine or not
SH:7/ML/E/21/0170
when it was known that I had engaged him for the 1st fine day – the prince thus compelling me to hurry my ascension – besides tho’ he had engaged Cazos for the Wednesday he the price still waited the arrival and did not go up till the Saturday – I hope, as I said to Cazos, that the prince had paid him much better than I had done – I saw the aubergists’ significant look – probably his princeship did not pay the man better –

we had now being above 1 ¼ hour – there had been a stranger (a guide? who said he had heard the prince say he would not go up if I had gone up) present a little while at 1st and 3 or 4 women – judging from A-‘s manner on my return from Mr. Latapis yesterday that being too late for dinner today would be terrible I bade Charles make hast and leaving behind me, as it seemed, the cordial approbation of all present Charles and I were off on our way back at 5 40 – the aubergiste (Mr. Palasset, maire) had said he recognised me on 1st seeing me again and said he was sure I should ascend the Vignemale – yes! said Charles he knew of our ascending Mt. Perdu – Charles! said I, il faut se depêcher – Mademoiselle ne voudra pas diner sans moi – poor Charles set off at trot, and kept my little mare at such a high jolt pace, that we were obliged to pull up for 2 or 3 minutes to read just my combs qui avaient grande envie de s’échapper – yet [not] withstanding this stoppage we came up with A- at the Pont de Douroucate at 5 8, and, passing by the Pont de [Soutant], alighted at home (having trotted almost all the way) at 7 5 – on meeting A- I had at the moment literally forgotten all about her poorliness, and was beginning to tell her all that happened when her manner at once refreshed my memory and I refrained from fatiguing her by saying more – Had Josephine – shewed her the certificate that she might be able to say she had seen it if she chose and that she knew for certain that I had made the ascent – dinner at 7 35 at 8 ½ - on telling A- I had ordered the horses at two tomorrow (Charles wanting to get some hay home from his grange on the Bergonz had asked me to give him till twelve but this I did not name to A-
she made no answer   too soon? said I   she replied crossly it was useless to ask when I had ordered them and that I ordered everything without consulting her   no said I gently I am of a very different opinion   but when I ask you you always tell me to do as I like  she denied this    very well said I   then you had better order in future it is indifferent to me unless when I myself have something particular to do   when I shall order for myself and you can order for yourself    and here the conversation ended   she soon after went to her room and I saw no more of her   she will die of bad temper?
came to our rooms at 8 ½ - fine day – threatening rain this evening after meeting A- but held off – F71 ¼° now at 8 38 – on the shred of paper (common English thin foolscap about 1/8 of the shut) was written as follows

@gale-gentlepenguin I dont know what the english dub says but in the french dub when Grabriel is akumatizing him he never mentions Marinette. He says that ''the anger of a creater whose work was stolen by a less than scrupulous individual'' and then mentioned how he couldnt bear to have someone hurt the girl he was in love with and ''this man is the voice of evil''. And when he was talking about his revenge while he always mentioned Marinette it was always ''Marinette and her friends''. Is it different in english?
You know, the episode 'Truth' really makes 'Silencer' look lacking if you think about it.
Like in silencer, we have a premise of a d-bag musician and his record label pop stealing the music from a contest. A 90's set up for a liar revealed scenario. This would have been GREAT to reveal the truth loving aspect of Luka here.
Now if we take Luka's characterization from Truth and place it in this situation. The main reason for his akumatization would have been that 'these lying jerks refused to acknowledge that they stole their music' because Luka values the truth above all else.
But we don't get that, instead, (according to hawkmoth) its because the music producer was mean to marinette. (which is a decent reason to be mad, BUT not the main reason you should be mad. Like it could have been the straw that broke the camels back, but to say its like the main reason?) It makes it seem like he doesn't even care that his hard work was ripped off and plagiarized. Something that in Truth, would have INFURIATED him.
Now the rest of the episode wasn't bad (pretty generic after that). And looking at silencer through the 'Truth' lens shows how this aspect of his personality could have had Luka's confession play INTO his character. Luka seeing marinette as 'Honest as a melody' and 'Clear as a music note'. Comes off cheesy and lame in silencer without context. Its like 'Ah, music references cause musician'. But if we add the context of season 4, this could have been an amazing allusion to how Luka sees marinette and why the events of Truth hurt him so much more. Finding out Marinette is not as honest or clear with him as he once believed. That would have made the break up so much more heartbreaking. It would have been AMAZING development for Luka. It also probably would have turned Silencer into an objectively better episode with more character depth.

Thierry Souccar.
