maybe the fact that i called her catty in the post two days ago should have clued me in that i'm too knackered for this right now.

anyway, here's another for the "mistakes I make so you don't have to" tag.

I left Catrine's head with overly liquid benzoyl peroxide on a radiator for 56 hours without masking off her hair first.

as speculated before, bleaching saran doesn't lead to white, it passes via white while there's still some blue then fades further into beige with hints of brown.

i've seen a loss of red pigment from sun exposure before, but here with heat alone we have a clear loss of the blue from the gothic purple streak.

and this folks, is why we don't use benzoyl peroxide (acne cream) on ponies and fantasy skin tones, we use the liquid hair developer in 40 volume instead.

I'd actually be just fine about this if I could reroot. I have both colours, it opens up the possibility of messing around with colours, streaks, maybe a lighter pink. it's just one line (2 in the back) and I was planning to add to her parting anyway. but yeah this injury is still really bad, setting off migraines and violent pain on a hair trigger and i'm going to take this as a sign to stop multitasking as much.

she's not ruined. she's on the "decide later" project list as I might mask off her untouched hair and bleach the front lines or go with something different like a soft pink.

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

I think this is one of my favorite lines from the Wraith route because of (imo) how much the meaning changes depending on if you got there via Spectre or Nightmare. For Spectre, it honestly strikes me as a genuine question. Why are you doing this to her? If you're on the Spectre route, you presumably already know the Narrator can't really be trusted, since you had to reject his reward to get here. What are you hoping to gain from continuing to hurt her? For Nightmare, it honestly just makes me sad. As the Shifting Mound describes her, "She desires only companionship, but the only thing she knows is how to hurt." This line feels like a plea from someone who genuinely doesn't understand why you keep rejecting her. She wants to be with you, but she just can't understand how to do that in a way which doesn't hurt you.

It's always funny to me when in an lu fic the chain is offered bananas and don't accept them. Like, you're offering these high energy adventures free food?? Fruit they'll have never even heard of before??? A ridiculously expensive imported good at best?? AND it boosts your attack?

Not ONE of these idiots would ever turn down something new and interesting to eat at least once. They'd be all over those bananas and immediately get dubbed yiga and I'm honestly surprised no one has used it in a fic yet 🤭

i'm kind of late to this but i just finished reading the scholomance trilogy by naomi novik and i feel like it is such an underrated urban fantasy?? taking the chosen one trope and turning it on its head with a fmc who has been prophesied to bring death and destruction, who is imbued with terrible power, but cannot even properly use said power to solve any of her obstacles because it would obliterate them and her soul. it takes a tired trope and the idea of an 'overpowered mary sue' and throws it back in your face by showing how all the power and destiny in the world is useless against a system filled with corruption that has burdened you with an easy way out (evil/destructive magic) that you can't take so now you have to work twice as hard as everyone else just to do simple, constructive spells instead of flicking your wrist and being done with it.

bleaching on purpose this time: that's a rag wrapped and selotaped with the isolated hair strands on the outside. I tried to do a gradient but it took very unevenly, so it's going all that beige/blonde. it's a lot greyer in person. and i'm out of acne cream so I'll let her sit for a while, decide later maybe.

I love that this fandom doesn't understand Baxter's character, I adore how they patronize him,a whole ass adult, for facing the consequences of his actions.

I love how people make him feel like a sad little baby when he leaves mc as if that's not something he made extremely clear. I love how people treat this 19 year old as if he's not old enough to understand the consequences of his actions. I love how Baxter is aware of his flaw's but feels like he can't break them because people only see him as a tool and this fandom reinforces that.

I love how people will get mad at Nico for doing the cardinal crime of being 6 years old but will baby a 24 year old Baxter. I love how people make him this charismatic rich guy when it's shown that he's a hot mess that doesn't know what he wants. I love that Baxter's whole character arc is about his self sabotaging tendencies and how everyone ignores that. I love that people fell in love with the mask he had for most of the dlc.

I love that this fandom lacks reading comprehension skills and understanding of nuance characters, great job everyone for not understanding how writing works :)
