River song is the best executed story arc in all of fiction (at least all that I’ve seen) and it’s not even close
Her first appearance is her death, both the audience and the doctor don’t know anything about her, but she already knows everything about him. Imagine a woman greets you with a kiss and says she’s your wife but you’ve never seen her before.
When she dies, sure it’s sad because a character we’ve spent two hours getting to know just died, but it’s not any sadder than that.
But then she turns up later. And again. And again. We learn to fall in love with the character, just like the doctor, but always with the nagging thought that any day could be the day when she goes to the library, and meets her end. We learn how interconnected her and the doctor are, we watch them get married, and eventually we see her one last time in a glorious send off to the character, the last time she saw the doctor before going to the library.
But that’s not where the story ends.
On a rewatch, you get the silence in the library, and you see this character that you’ve grown to love over whole doctor’s lifespans, but the doctor doesn’t recognise you. Now, you’re in river’s shoes. You understand all the references she makes, but the doctor is just blank. And when she sacrifices herself, you realise that the last time she saw the doctor was exactly what you saw in the last river episode. It’s so flawlessly executed over a whole decade, and I love her to pieces.

I sometimes think its weird that everyone must have a 'favourite doctor'. I get the appeal, but how its so wide spread baffles me.
Theyre all one person, in the end, with each regeneration being all that came before and more, and a little different due to the experiences they had and the people theyve met, just how I am different from when I was 15 years old, but still the same.
I have a favourite doctor for conveniency reasons, mostly, 12- but even then, whats a 'favourite doctor'. My favourite performance? My favourite to have a fun time with? My favourite to make me aspire to be better? My favourite to laugh, my favourite to cry for? Theyre all different. I love 12 as much as I love 1 or 2 or 3 or 4. Maybe I have incarnations I dont feel as strongly for, but thats usually out of unfamiliarity with all they went through and by such an inability to truly grasp who the doctor was when they wore that face (e.g. my only experience with 8 being the tv movie) or because they amplify parts of the doctor Im less fond of (e.g. six being a little mean).
But in the end, theyre all of it anyway? All of the Doctor is mean, whether its the first doctor or the sixth or the tenth, all doctors are kind, whether its the second or fourth or 12th or 14th, all of the doctor has experienced grief, all of them is strong willed, brave, afraid.
I like the idea of having a 'favourite'. To me its a little like your favourite actors role, I love david tennants hamlet more than I like his alec hardy, but I still love his acting, period.
But this obsession of needing a favourite doctor, of needing to love one part of this beautiful, incredible character more than others, often it feels unfair to who they are. This grand person being reduced to a few years of their endlessly long life. To a single face.
Maybe that's what feels so real about thoschei. Companions tend to get attached to a face. To this one part. To the master the current doctor's body is secondary.
"Doesn't matter which face he was wearing, they're all the Doctor to me."
And they are, in fact, all the Doctor.

Not every single character that exists has been given a card (im mostly missing individual casino workers, dlc characters, and some stragglers here and there; like the individual members of the phantom express, for instance), but I DO have at least one character matched to each minor arcana !
Missy Houndstooth is a Queen of Diamonds, Cala Maria is a Queen of Hearts, and Ginger is a Queen of Spades.

Random Doctor Who Facts You Might Not Know, Part 11
The Second Doctor traveled with Jamie again after his departure while working for the Time Lords. The reason he doesn't remember this is because the Time Lords regularly erased his memory.
The Ice Warriors were originally created as a slave race to serve the Gandorans.
Strax carries dehydrated water in his first aid kit.
Homunculette and Marie are a Time Lord/TARDIS duo who consider each other "companions" and have incredibly intense feelings about one another.
The sexual attraction to humans by non-humans is called humanophilia.
On four separate known occasions, the Doctor has been to the Frost Fair. He took Vicki and Steven, River, Clara, and Bill.
When Missy broke into the Black Archive, she "liberated" a good portion of their inventory, including her "good friend" TOMTIT.
Turlough's great-great-great-great grandfather was part of Trion's royal court.
James Lethbridge-Stewart was the Brigadier's older brother. At a young age, he was forced by the Great Intelligence in an act of revenge against the Brigadier's future self to jump to his death over Golitha Falls. The young Brigadier was too short to retrieve his body. Their memories of James were later removed by the Great Intelligence.
After the year 12,000,000, some humans evolved into Homo solarians and lived inside the sun.

During an adventure with the Seventh Doctor, Chris Cwej had sex with a man named David Daniels. In doing so, he accidentally gave him a metagenic compound from the 30th century that acted as an HIV anti-virus. Harry Sullivan would later discover this compound in 2015 as a potential cure.
The Dragonhunters have a saying that "no Time Lord could be trusted."
The Doctor considered his cousin Arkhew to be inoffensive, gentle, and an unassuming. He said that such traits were "unusual for this family."
Arkhew had a pet scrubber, but his pet was eaten by another cousin named Owis. This made Arkhew hate Owis. Owis later killed Arkhew.
The Kithriarch is another important figure to a Great House. Unlike the Housekeeper, who is a medium between the sentient House and the family and responsible for the House's wellbeing, the Kithriarch is responsible for the social wellbeing of all family members.
