Ever think about Jance being the only ones to have a joint Damon photoshoot? Ever think about how much the whole band love each other and yet they all had their moment in the spotlight, even Bojan who seems to dislike being alone? Ever think about Nace being the last in and thus Jan knowing everyone else longer than him, yet they do this together because whatever they have is that little bit different from what they have with everyone else? Ever think about how much comfort they must get from being with each other that this happened, and the individual shots were almost an afterthought in which neither looked comfortable, and yet when they're together Nace is smiling and Jan is visibly more at ease?

The superglue is real.

I feel like the real question should be, did I ever stop thinking about this at all? And the answer would be: nope. Absolutely not :) <3

Okay, I already ranted a bit about this on that post I made the other day, but yeah, them being the only ones who have a joint photoshoot - whether it was initially Damon's idea like Jan said in the JOS interview or not - was definitely a statement.

You can see that they are all super close with each other, closer than most people usually are with their friends (it's basically a partnership between five people, as Bojan put it), and they're not afraid to show the world how much they love each other, which is one of the things that makes them so special, in my opinion.

This is something that I'm sure could be explored in many different ways during photoshoots, but it is probably also one of the reasons why it took them all by surprise when Damon's proposal didn't mean I want to photograph Joker Out, but actually I want to take pictures of each of you, individually, because they're not just a band - they're a pack, a family. There's no Joker Out without Bojan, or Kris, or Jure, or Jan, or Nace, and... who even are they when there's no Joker Out? Who are they as people rather than band members?

But that's exactly what Damon wanted to capture. He didn't want to take a look at the bigger picture; he wanted to venture further in, to look separately at each of the pillars that shape Joker Out, to see what makes them them, and to capture with his camera what people don't usually see behind the scenes.

So, this, the fact that it was Damon the one who approached them with the idea of photographing each of them individually - not just a photographer taking a couple of photos of them separately in the middle of a group photoshoot, but five whole different, separate ones - makes the fact that it was also him who saw something so noteworthy on these two that he just had to capture them together even more insane, if you ask me.

Ever think about Nace being the last in and thus Jan knowing everyone else longer than him, yet they do this together because whatever they have is that little bit different from what they have with everyone else? – THIS!!!

Once again, they're all super close, but Nace and Jan just seem to have connected on a whole different level, you know? To me (and I obviously don't know him irl, so I could be completely wrong, but I just get those vibes from him), Jan seems like the kind of person that takes a bit longer to warm up to new people than most people do most of the time. Even if said person is very nice and it's not really doing anything bad, it's hard to get used to changes in your life, and having your bassist and friend leave the band you've been playing in together for years is a pretty big change.

So, even with all of that, upon being asked how they warmed up to Nace, Jan was the one who said that "at first I was a bit sus, but the second time we met him I knew he was the one," which was just sooooo

I just imagine they were all pretty sad about Martin leaving the band, but then Nace came into their lives with his lovely and warm personality and his amazing musical skills, not to fill the gap Martin left behind, but to carve out a new place that is purely and entirely Nace and become part of their beautiful family.

Going back to jance, though, I love discovering old footage of the band because you can see they really have been having so much fun together and doing all of these shenanigans literally since the first time Nace joined them on stage, which goes to show just how quickly they connected in that regard. Like, you can see what Jan meant about knowing he was the one. They truly just seem to bring out that something from each other, and I'm so, so happy that they've found something like that in their lives, whatever they want that to be.

About the last part, however, I don't think that not being together is the only reason why they don't look completely comfortable in their solo pics, but I can see where you're coming from! I mean, overall, you can see that they're always more at ease when they're together than when they're alone (not just here, but also in interviews and stuff like that), that they just bring that comfort to each other, but this kind of vulnerability is something that really stands out about Damon's photography.

You can see it in Kris, Bojan, and Jure's photoshoots as well, how there's pictures where they look more at ease than others, but not because of the fact that they're being photographed, but because they're opening up to Damon, letting themselves be vulnerable for Damon's camera to capture their inner troubles, their journey, their anxieties, the distress, their worries, their fears... But there's also peace and calm among all that, because not everything is bad, after all. And this is also something that is visible both in Jan's and Nace's photos and in their joint ones.

But yeah, I do agree that everything just seems better and easier when they're together, and I also think that, if you focus on Nace's individual ones, they seem to tell you the story of how joining Joker Out and surrounding himself with the boys appears to have been incredibly helpful in his journey with self-esteem, but that's a story for another time because this is already unnecessarily long :]
